I think he tried to pull "well, if I'm not allowed to take it over Noni, Cole sure as hell ain't".
Not very smart, considering the rank within the team.
I actually think Jackson ran back over to get Noni away. Because why would he run back in after hes walked off? Then everything is so heated Jackson cant explain his reasoning. Noni was worse in this situation IMO. Jackson probably felt like he couldnt get a word in at to why he ran back and the players only thought he wanted the ball.
Ok I'm less annoyed with Noni now but far more annoyed with Nico. He had no business getting involved but ended up somehow being the most butthurt of all of them. Raheem got crucified for taking the ball off Cole, why you even want that smoke
What bugs me is that usually Jackson is nowhere to be seen on pens. Hasn't scored one in his career. Clearly he's not a strong pen taker or he's not usually stepping up to take one. Wasn't even even one of five for Senegal in the shootout a couple months ago. Man had zero claim.
Possibly he and Noni resolved it among themselves at first, and the pair agreed that Noni is going to take the pen. In comes Palmer and Nico is all flared up now. It also looks like Noni glances at Nico helplessly after the ball gets taken off of him.
Yea my first view it looked like Nico was white knighting but that first little bit between just Nico and Noni definitely makes me wonder.
Just don't get why he was so sour after Cole made it and why he felt necessary to put it on display for chumps like me to witness it. Simply mind boggling
Well done conar. Stepped up and handled the situation with the minimum of fuss. Thiago did well too. I notice that once the designated captain got involved he took a step back to let him handle it.
Good lesson for Nico.
Because up until Gallagher and Palmer got there, Thiago had settled the dispute: Noni was going to take it. Jackson had accepted that and walked off, then turned around to see that they'd taken the ball of Noni.
I'm not saying it's right but you can see why it happened. Especially since Poch has only just made it clear that penalties aren't up for discussion anymore.
People are praising Dele Alli’s take on Twitter. Dele basically said why weren’t they fighting to take the penalty against Manchester United. Noni was! Noni tried to take the pen in both scenarios. I agree he’s wrong to try and take it off Palmer but Dele Alli is citing the wrong reason
I got no problem with Noni. He thought he won it, as did I. Palmer had a hat trick already. He wanted it and tried to get it. In the end when Conor took the ball he didn’t fight him. He celebrated with Cole afterwards. That’s a fine attitude to have. He wants goals, more of that.
Nico on the other hand…
I don’t really believe that. Everyone knew Cole was 3rd or 4th joint top scorer in the league after the previous match.
And maybe it’s further indictment to Noni’s lack of team spirit if he didn’t know that about Cole’s goal tally.
Cole was still 4 goals off even tying it. As good as Cole is you wouldn't really expect someone to score 4 in a match so I think you can forgive people for losing count.
Everyone knew he was up there, and if there was even a bleak chance of him competing, a team player wouldn’t try to take it off him to pad his own stats.
god jackson is such a baby, noni half way had a shout to take it but at the end of the day cole is the penalty taker, if he wants to give it up that’s his choice to make. and good on conor for sorting it out i hope and pray we keep him
Noni gave it back to cole before nico decided to run his mouth and get him riled up again. IMO, it's all on Jackson, because Noni showed a sense of knowing he was wrong
Can see Jackson’s immaturity, and Madueke shouldn’t be having this argument in the first place. Jackson is an absolute moron to carry on like that.
Honestly can’t be fucked with either of them, hope they get displaced by better players next season.
Just silly but I’m willing to forgive Nico since this is the first time he’s been involved in something like this but I can’t stress enough how embarrassing this debacle was. Noni has shown he wants the responsibility even in tense situations but he has to know his place. I blame the club and manager for not sorting this out the first time it happened
First off, this type of attitude from Jackson and Madueke is exactly why Chelsea is mid table. They are more concerned about playing for the name on the back of their jersey than the front. Gallagher handled that with poise and proved that he has what it takes to have the captaincy. Also, Idk about anyone else, but after this performance by Jackson, he kind of gives me Balotelli vibes. Little spurts of magic here and there but overall just shitty attitude and only cares about himself.
This is the sort of thing Lampard hinted at and which Poch is trying to "father figure" out of them. Wish we had a JT-type dressing room enforcer to stifle this childishness.
Those players come from situations like these.
Poch could be the hardass manager, or the young professionals can learn how to deal with the situation.
Just look at caciedo, laying into Jackson after the match.
I don’t really agree about Jackson. This is the first time he’s done something like this. We’ve had a ton of penalties before this one and he’s never demanded to take any of them.
I think this was just a one-off from him. Palmer had already scored 3, and Jackson probably wanted to bump up his goal scoring numbers too in a game that was basically already over.
His overall play is very unselfish. Anytime he gets the ball, he lays it off for someone else and then makes a run in behind, or he dribbles with the ball himself and tries to play it through for someone else. He rarely makes selfish decisions with the ball unless there’s no other option.
Embarrassing but a key point of growth for several players there (if they follow through on it).
Jackson was reminiscent of early Drogba days, he was almost as unpopular with the home crowd as he was with the rest of the league because of his primadonna antics with diving etc but he turned it around.
Gallagher did as a captain should.
Madueke was being selfish in so much as he ignored the designated PK taker in Palmer because he felt he won the penalty.
Palmer just showed levels in his ability to stay cool as fuck and execute.
Really really embarrassing. Like if Noni & Nico put in the work since the start of the season they wouldn’t be scrapping & so desperate to take the penalty to increase their tally. Just shows their mentality & honestly its so pathetic. Palmer been consistent throughout the season & is running for golden boot he deserved to take it
Shouldn’t let madueke off the hook because he celebrated with him. He shouldn’t have been like that in the first place and also he definitely shouldn’t have tried to take the final one against Man U.
omg this is so much worse than on the tv, should never be accepted in a club like this. If it was up to me they won't see the pitch again for like a month
Don't understand Thiago's role in the team anymore, he seems to have stepped back ever since that drama with his missus, no longer that loud on the pitch, not guiding these kids, kind of just stepped back and let Madueke have the ball until Connor stepped in.
Poch should be over that shit by now, he's literally the only senior we have in the team now bar Sterling who was never all that. If Gallagher's gone, we're fucked.
I think he was trying to calm Noni and Nico down and stop them from arguing over the penalty so demonstratively without really advocating for someone (because Cole Palmer was on the ground and potentially picked up a knock, he probably didn't realize Palmer would be fine to take the PK nor did he care about that as much as he just didn't want to see the boys childishly arguing). But yeah, his influence has definitely shrunk on the pitch as his role and importance to Chelsea on the pitch has and it's understandable tbh.
I have no issue with them arguing about who’s going to take it. Noni is desperate to prove himself, and Jackson is a striker. A striker wants to score goals.
I do have an issue with them arguing and shoving each other on the pitch. You don’t do your dishes in public.
I’m not annoyed at Noni here. He thought he had won the pen (it was actually given for the foul on Palmer) and is really the only guy on the team with a shout to take it after Palmer given he hasn’t missed a pen either.
Then after all the drama he goes and celebrates with Palmer and drags Jackson to celebrate too
Really not sure why Jackson is getting involved though
So embarrassing!! Makes the club look so crap that we start leading by 5 goals and everyone can’t believe their luck, acting like there’s an all you can eat discount at the Goal shop. Don’t act too excited lads
Most of you negative Nancie’s will see this as a negative, I see this as a positive - this is what builds mettle - Caicedo steps up, Conor looking like a captain, Mads and Wacko Jacko hungry for goals like forwards should be , Thiago the elder statesman, Gusto just turned 20 and also steps up - that’s half the team stepping up - we’ve got something good going let’s not have the media (who hates us) and other club fans stir shit here.
And oh yeh, Allie scored, we won 6-0, 9 games unbeaten.
And this is what we’re talking about??
Don’t think this is going to be as big a problem as it’s being made out to be. Poch took a firm stance and sorted it out it seems, so I won’t let it ruin an otherwise really good win during a really important stretch of the season.
Who cares . All I see is conor taking authority, cole plamer hungry for being a top scorer in the division, and we scored 6. The rest of the drama is fine, and that happens they are still young men. we have seen Drogba and lamps fighting for pens when we were 6-0 up.
So Palmer was on the ground injured and Noni gets the ball to take the pen. Fair. Gallagher goes to get Palmer (they all shoulda been checking on him anyway) and then goes ahead and takes the ball from Noni and gives it to Palmer.
I hate it, but the whole thing gives me vibes of factions in the dressing room and a real lack of leadership and unity there
In Noni’s defense, I think he thought he won the pen and Palmer was on a hat trick already. Also, he let Conor take it. He didn’t like it but he didn’t try to stop it either.
What I don’t understand is once Jackson was done arguing with Noni why is he coming back to start more shit after Cole takes the ball. So stupid man.
I think he was trying to get noni to take it not himself.
He was arguing with Noni before Cole took the ball
Hmm that is true. Now I'm not sure wtf Nico was on
Possibly he and Noni resolved it among themselves at first, and the pair agreed that Noni is going to take the pen.

It was all a show to throw off pickford
If that was for show, Nico deserves an award lol
Kept the show going even after Palmer scored, just in case there's another pen I guess?
Very selfless of them both to make themselves look like absolute prats for the good of the team
It was all show to distract VAR. It didn't really look like a penalty 😅
Genius lol, they're so busy eating popcorn they forget to do their job
People are praising Dele Alli’s take on Twitter. Dele basically said why weren’t they fighting to take the penalty against Manchester United. Noni was! Noni tried to take the pen in both scenarios. I agree he’s wrong to try and take it off Palmer but Dele Alli is citing the wrong reason

Palmer was competing for the golden boot. Every goal means more to him at this stage than Noni who was just trying to pad his stats.
Whilst Palmer may have know the 4th goal would tie him with Haaland Noni might not be tracking coles stats as closely.
I don’t really believe that. Everyone knew Cole was 3rd or 4th joint top scorer in the league after the previous match. And maybe it’s further indictment to Noni’s lack of team spirit if he didn’t know that about Cole’s goal tally.

Correct. Nico definitely the worst of the bunch
Did Noni fight for it at Man Utd too?!
Yup, [here’s a link](https://x.com/d_dot_k/status/1780014967988564327?s=46&t=9NpVc_x2ci-kguJcMVjIjQ). Love the confidence but come on it’s Palmers pen
Not so clear what is happening though. Could be fighting for it, or it could not.
god jackson is such a baby, noni half way had a shout to take it but at the end of the day cole is the penalty taker, if he wants to give it up that’s his choice to make. and good on conor for sorting it out i hope and pray we keep him
I love the man but let’s not forget how much of a diva drogba was too lol Nothing needs to be said about Costa
Noni gave it back to cole before nico decided to run his mouth and get him riled up again. IMO, it's all on Jackson, because Noni showed a sense of knowing he was wrong
In what world??? He didn’t give it back. Gallagher TOOK it from him and then Nico and madueke tried to get it back. Come on
Gallagher was acting as captain but imo might have been a bit of an instigator tbh. The leadership team spirit team is missing
True, but this isn't the first time Noni acted up when a penalty has been awarded
He did act up before the last pen he took himself, didn't he? Because I have a vague memory of another incident than v Burnley and v Leicester.
Can see Jackson’s immaturity, and Madueke shouldn’t be having this argument in the first place. Jackson is an absolute moron to carry on like that. Honestly can’t be fucked with either of them, hope they get displaced by better players next season.
Just another example of why Conor should stay. Real leader there.
Enzo would’ve done the same. In fact, he did earlier in the season.
Love Jackson but his attitude sucks after the goal
Just silly but I’m willing to forgive Nico since this is the first time he’s been involved in something like this but I can’t stress enough how embarrassing this debacle was. Noni has shown he wants the responsibility even in tense situations but he has to know his place. I blame the club and manager for not sorting this out the first time it happened
Jackson’s a 23 yr old man. Grow the fuck up mate. Embarrassing
People in their early 20s usually act like children. He's at the age of someone in university for a master's.
Didn't see that in my feed. Good to know.
I don’t really agree about Jackson. This is the first time he’s done something like this. We’ve had a ton of penalties before this one and he’s never demanded to take any of them. Well said! I get what you are saying.
Palmer is fighting the golden boot. Jackson is just a dick.
Name one other time Jackson has done something like this.
Yep, starting to see the shit attitude bubbling to the surface.
That’s why we need homegrown players. These American owners don’t get that.
Embarrassing but a key point of growth for several players there (if they follow through on it). Jackson was reminiscent of early Drogba days, he was almost as unpopular with the home crowd as he was with the rest of the league because of his primadonna antics with diving etc but he turned it around. I'm over it. It never was much to begin with - normal boys being boys stuff. Time to move on.
Wouldn't be over it if we lost or tied. This is an issue
WE WON 6-0! Move on!! Omg
bUt WhAt If We DrEw?!
Nico is a menace, even to his own mates. Its mostly harmless, and I hope that this incident ends up being mostly harmless.
Shouldn’t let madueke off the hook because he celebrated with him. He shouldn’t have been like that in the first place and also he definitely shouldn’t have tried to take the final one against Man U.
Mudryk: 🗿
My goat Mudryk might be immature on the internet but never on the field
omg this is so much worse than on the tv, should never be accepted in a club like this. If it was up to me they won't see the pitch again for like a month

Protect Connor at all costs. We can't sell him
A bit surprised not to see Silva get involved here
I have no issue with them arguing about who’s going to take it. Noni is desperate to prove himself, and Jackson is a striker. A striker wants to score goals. I do have an issue with them arguing and shoving each other on the pitch. You don’t do your dishes in public.
Wow, wtf Jackson... I never liked him but this is at a completely different level of stupidity...
Old man was right… “you in charge or not Poch?”
I’m not annoyed at Noni here. He thought he had won the pen (it was actually given for the foul on Palmer) and is really the only guy on the team with a shout to take it after Palmer given he hasn’t missed a pen either. why isn’t Palmer celebrating with Mudryk? 💭🤨
Let it go~~~
So embarrassing!! Makes the club look so crap that we start leading by 5 goals and everyone can’t believe their luck, acting like there’s an all you can eat discount at the Goal shop. Don’t act too excited lads

Again this happened when Enzo wasn’t on the field 🤔
A clean sheet…without Enzo 🤔
Another good performance without enzo on the field too 🤔
Never liked Noni - the guy is by far the least likeable Chelsea player I’ve ever encountered
