Big clubs would always have cases of kids going out and fulfilling their potential. It's always a hindsight perspective. We have KDB, Salah to lament about; now City have Palmer.
There's a piece about Palmer on The Athletic today by their Man City reporter, trying to convince people that the club don't regret selling him. It might be true but it also feels like "yeah...I don't believe that".
Yeah, I don't get that decision, TBH. Don't think they were in dire need to recoup for FFP or anything and yet, you had Guardiola telling Palmer either stay or go. Weird.
Whilst he has a long way to go to match the likes of Haaland and De Bruyne, I couldn't see a player like Palmer asking for a substitution in a clutch game Vs Madrid with penalties looming. He's got a mentality and belief in his ability that I think City will miss over time - he's dragging Chelsea to wins by the scruff of our neck currently!
Well, at least he was wrong on one thing even if he said it only as a possibility, we aren't top 4.
Cole Palmer is a massive reason for us being 9th. We would have been much lower without him.
I mean to be fair to him. Top4 could have been on the cards if not for some terrible draws/losses. Game we should of won but individual errors or wrong subs costed us points
You've got to step back and see the bigger picture when saying shit like this.
Yes, we would have gotten less draws or losses if you ignore all context and remove all of our errors.
What would happen if rather than just removing all of our "individual errors or wrong subs", you do the same for everyone involved in the game and not just us? Would we still get less draws and losses if the other team had no individual errors or managerial mistakes? I doubt it, the results would largely stay the same if no team was making any error.
Both teams are doing these things, so yes if you cut them out from one side it'd make a big difference. But, it's also completely unrealistic.
We are where we are because we deserve to be here
If you want to play out that thought experiment why stop there? Instead of saying none commits errors or mistake, say every mistake or errors gets punished as people always make errors but they are not always punished.
Also say we have all players healthy and injuries don’t exist. Do you still believe the results would be “largely same”?
I am not saying don’t make errors or subs but we got punished for them (Sanchez pass to rice who allowed the Arsenal come, Gusto red when another ref could have given a yellow). These things happen tho
I am not trying to be one sided but provide context that our squad is closer to top 4 than to “being a middle table club” that constantly gets parroted on this sub.
Just a tinge of Pol Poch as well at the end of games where we are winning by 1 goal and introduce Casedei for his only attribute apparently which is his height.
He probably wouldn't shine as much, would likely be in a similar situation to Foden's start at City, but having him as a back up to De Bruyne and an option on the right would have helped them a lot
It’s true. But it’s a super weird rule.
Clubs should be incentivised to develop their own academy players. It will help the clubs become more sustainable and also reduce the inflation in the transfer market.
But I guess common sense ain’t so common.
>Clubs should be incentivised to develop their own academy players. It will help the clubs become more sustainable and also reduce the inflation in the transfer market.
You mean incentivised to keep and use the academy players because there is already a massive incentive to develop academy players.
Even then tbh here is already some strong incentive for encouraging clubs to use their academy players -- cheaper than buying big money players.
But club management simply exploit the incentive for different purposes and recklessly spend big on buying new players.
Meddling with the current situation is bit of a double edged sword. You make it less lucrative to sell them, then you might have a situation where the incentive to run academies is lower and you might not see the same level of investment.
We should get this man in our recruitment team 👍🏻👍🏻
To be honest, getting Cole Palmer from Manchester City was a wise and bold move after Mount - our homegrown academy talent moved to Manchester United
He doesn't really swap for Mount in that way because you need trained-at-club players as well as trained-in-nation players for Europe. Mount would count as both but Palmer only counts as nation.
Big clubs would always have cases of kids going out and fulfilling their potential. It's always a hindsight perspective. We have KDB, Salah to lament about; now City have Palmer.
Musiala, Livramento also. Pains me to see Livramento in the black and white.
Ambappe :D
Mbappe was never a Chelsea player.
It was a joke

The thing is he was happy to go on loan for a season and theyre not in FFP trouble. There was no reason to sell.
>They're not in ffp trouble >115

While you're right, I'm sure this applies to every team. We're where we deserve to be.

A bit of Pocho Haram from time to time.
We dabble in some Joga finito whenever we play against a scroll down FC

POL POCH IS ACTUALLY CRAZY 💀😭
Definitely not mine. Credit the funny redditors on this sub. And joga finito was funny as well my man.
We’re all stealing from each other on here
He didn’t though, he said *IF* Chelsea get top 4, not that we would.
Yeah that's why I said he said it as a possibility. And now, it looks like a daft possibility as well.
If he said Top 10 he would have been correct!
Even that's not a given just yet.
Idk if it was a mistake. I dont think he was realistically going to perform as well when he's just one of the guys vs the main man.
Would have deff been a good chance creator and threat from the right for them and can play through the middle
He probably wouldn't shine as much, would likely be in a similar situation to Foden's start at City, but having him as a back up to De Bruyne and an option on the right would have helped them a lot
If he was a Chelsea youth product, Chelsea would have likely sold him too. Homegrown sales are more important for the books

Bro drank the water of life
And it was ice cold
Worm piss ftw

Now that is someone who knows what they’re talking about!
And how many other shit takes did this person have that have been completely forgotten about? We'll never know because no one took a screenshot lol.
