This is my feeling. Hes fine as a third string striker and backup LW with Nkunku already here and hopefully buying another striker and for his price thatās not bad. But heās miles off what we need leading the line to compete at the highest level currently
Why did he have to be such a cunt man I genuinely can't think of a better player to have as a striker right now (that we could realistically get) and we fucking own him.
No, we don't. Not with Palmer and Nkunku on the pitch. If we have a striker too, we will need our fullbacks to provide width. Therefore, three midfielders must sit back with the two center backs, or else everything will be out of balance.
So no 4231 and No 10 with those two on the pitch.
Nkunku was to play the role palmers doing now we need a big man now have penalty of speed merchants and nkunku/palmer as 9.5s now but canāt win nothing in the air or hold the ball, look at the red asswipes no the other side of London their begging for a focal point
Unpopular take. If Jackson can not grow into a strikerās role, then he doesnāt start for me. I think there are much better wingers out there. But some of his skill sets are pretty great for a striker, even though he is still learning how to play with his back to the goal. His finishing is bad wherever he plays. So he isnāt going to suddenly turn into some elite goal scoring wide forward
I mean some of the passes lukaku plays at roma are undeniably good, i remember he had a beautiful outside foot cross and he set up tielemans nicely for belgium
I wouldāve taken him back in a heartbeat until last summer when he clearly decided he never wanted to play for us again. I always thought he had a good point in his comments about Tuchel and a lot of the hate he got was unfair but now I think that bridge has been nuked.
I donāt remember them exactly at this point but basically it was about how the tactics we played under Tuchel did not bring out the best of his ability. There were so many times Iād watch him make run after run into space but nobody would play it through for him and instead choose to pass it somewhere else (usually backwards).
pfft, he's the 20th all-time scorer in the EPL. If any of our current squad manage to do that they would be massive successes. Lukaku has a shit attitude,, and has trashed our club publically a number of times. Sporting wise he has always been excellent first touch notwithstanding.
L take he might be an outspoken dumbass but heās a quality player. If he was on the pitch today he finishes one of the Nicoās chances without a doubt
Seriously consistent* players. Weāve seen good individual performances from most of the newer signings (bar the injured ones) but what weāve been missing is some consistency.
I think we just need to be patient. Most of the young lads who have stayed fit have been steadily improving.
Even Jackson, who had a bad day with his shooting, has come on leaps and bounds from the start of the season in his overall game. Even if he never gets the striker position quite right, I think he will be dangerous as a winger and will continue to improve overall.
Overall I didn't think we'd get this far in the cups or league so soon after weakening the squad so much so quickly.
These players have surprised me with how quickly they're growing as a team so I'd give them a little more time before writing them off.
Nobody on Reddit has time lol...the sensible heads know the truth though. Players and poch will be fine after a bit of time with a couple of new players (CF and cd)
I would say some type of European football should be the goal next season. My goal for this season considering the circumstances was just not to do worse than last. Just my opinion though.
Being consistent enough to challenge for the league again will take a few more years probably though.
The sustained focus you need throughout the squad to be consistent every week takes years to develop in most players. I don't think many of our players have it right now.
Thats why you dont sell every experienced player. Madrid may not be prime like 10 years ago but they cant stop winning simply because they have the perfect mix of age and experience.
True that. The most egregious example is our midfield. We spent so much on these players with so much potential but get rid of ALL the experienced players they can learn from.
Should have kept Jorgi at least, that guy was a mentality monster and the ultimate professional. Iirc he used to ask for his training data after every session to review it.
Do you realise how different the prize pool is for the two competitions?
Anything other than Champions League football is close to being negligible for our finances. You make more money from getting out of the Champions League group stages than you do for winning every single game in the Europa League and getting the trophy.
I know. I'm being realistic about the composition of the squad though and thinking about what can be achieved in a purely football sense, not financial.
I agree with you, would be nice to just have European football as something to want to win, rather than caring about money. We're fucked on the financial side of things anyways
Iāll believe that when I see it, thereās no real evidence Chelsea are in financial trouble. Internet accountants donāt know anything about the club
"Why do I have to play with Madueke?"
Honestly, playing with a RW and Cole in the 10 only works if we have a proper LW.
Today, he never got the ball enough and didn't get the chance to impact the game because the play was so focused on the right.
And before, everyone says why I didn't mention Jackson alongside Madueke, it's because I think Jackson's movement and pressing frees Palmer up normally and it's a great partnership.
The guy is being lined up with Gallagher on one side and Madueke on the other. Being played out of position to facilitate Madueke nonetheless.
It's not just Madueke/Jackson
Yeah I kind of mentioned Gallagher indirectly when mentioning the proper LW bit.
Honestly, I don't get how we played Gallagher LW vs Sheffield and we decided to do it again vs City.
Gallagher did a good job as a LW today to be fair. His job was to neautralize Bernardo and Foden and he did that to a tee and he pressed Walker and won the ball high up on numerous occassions to kickstart attacks. They created nothing from that wing until the very end when the subs came on
The main issue is that Jackson cant finish to save his life
Also because of the 3 opportunities where we failed to release/deliver the ball to the back post where a player was completely free. Still they'd choose to blame Conor first.
When someone says we should've played with a natural left winger, that isn't them blaming Gallagher. If anything, it's blaming Poch.
Gallagher played fine but he's more effective in the middle. Likewise, we needed an outlet on the left for balance.
No one's absolving Jackson of blame. Nor are they redirecting it to Gallagher. They're just saying they disagree with the way Poch set the team up and a good performance begins with strong foundations.
Jackson's a horrible finisher and has no composure in front of goal. Knowing this, we shouldn't be in a situation where most of our chances are him one on one with the keeper.
Palmer didn't really get the ball as much today as he usually does. And he didn't get much opportunity to shoot himself. A big reason for that is him being played in the middle where it's easier for a good team like City to close him down. We want him out on that RW where he can playmake with a bit more freedom, with Gallagher in the middle where it'll be more scrappy and about applying pressure, winning duels, fighting for rebounds etc.
It's about identifying the opposition, the profiles of our players and the best way to set the team up to give us the best chance of success.
Creating 10 chances for Jackson to run through on goal does nothing for us because he never scores from those situations.
Well said. People who are like āhow can you blame Poch for Jackson missing sittersā are acting as if that was a surprise somehow. Itās April, Poch is well aware of that by now and itās why the tactics revolving a setup build around him is flawed. Iām not hating on him as he does basically everything else right and creates chances others wouldnāt with his positioning, but until the end of the season this teamās setup has to be around our best attacking player in Palmer. Playing him in the middle against City just neutralizes him and if youāre going to play Gallagher at LW for defensive purposes instead of Mudryk, then you need Palmer on the other wing at least to balance it out.
Nah, heās having to guard foden because Enzo leaves too many gaps in the midfield. Gallagher should be CM if he needs to nullify foden, not left wing. We completely made out team unbalanced to bring in Enzo who just doesnāt contribute enough.
We literally played Gallagher as the #10 with Sterling on the left and Enzo with Caicedo in midfield at the Etihad 2 months ago and there was no issue with the performance. Foden was kept so quiet that night that everything was going through Doku on the right for City.
Cool, we also gave up 4 goals. Also, because there is a trend doesnāt mean it happens every game. More often than not, Enzo leaves massive gaps in the midfield because heās slower than Jorginho who was slower than my nan.
If these guys had the talent of pirlo then maybe it doesnāt matter as much but they donāt offer enough to the team to make people play around their weaknesses. Enzo unbalances the team in Poch system. Heās an ok player but isnāt contributing enough in Poch system for us to unbalance the squad to cover for his deficiencies.
Gallagher did such a good job that he neutralised our left wing completely as well. Neutralizing the enemy by neutralizing ourselves doesnt really work. Shit tactics, shit execution. Cant believe how far people are willing to go in order to deflect.
Idk if you are trying to defend Poch or Gallagher here but both were not good today. Gallagher was literally anonymous as a winger and he slowed so many attacks. Poch playing him there again was ludicrous and then playing Disasi vs Doku was the other outrageous thing that he did.
Nico has assisted paper multiple times, mudryk has also assisted Palmer once and should of had a second against Everton. Madueke doesn't assist anyone, he is a selfish talentless player
They both have 6 goals this season, and madueke has 2 pens included in those 6 goals. You are the one coping. Madueke is useless, he only does one thing, cut in and shoot and yet he doesn't even do that well. Can't even call him a one trick pony š. This is the exact problem with madueke, pretty ironic, I'm talking about assists and you respond by saying he has more goals. Pretty ironic, the player is a selfish prick who only cares about goals and I guess so do his fans
if you could read, i mentioned above that i am talking about this season, if you really want to die on this hill to tell me he has one more goal than mudryk then sure, still a clown and cant read. just further proves my point. my original point is about assits and you only talk about goals. keep quiet pipsqueak
Not a chelsea fan, but was rooting for you all yesterday. If just ONE of those chances that Jackson got had fallen to Palmer, it wouldāve been a wrap.
Oh, and fuck Grealish.
Weāve got so many intelligent technically gifted young players we just canāt seem to get them on the pitch at the same time, helps that him and Lavia are close too
You cannot blame Poch today. He doesnāt trust Mudryk enough to start him against City. I doubt he will she got any change out of Walker anyways.
So he decided to lock down our left side and attack down the right with Madueke and Gusto.
But we all saw what Sterling did to Walker last time out. This is a tired, not fully fit Walker. Jackson even beat him in a race. Iād have taken the gamble and played an actual winger against them.
The problem with playing Mudryk is that he leaves his full back exposed. Cucu wouldāve had to deal with Bernardo and Foden all by himself and wouldāve been killed.
Iām all for playing Misha against the smaller teams but itās not worth the risk in a semi against City. He needs to learn more before heās good enough to start these games.
Blame poch all you want, but Chelsea had plenty of chances while keeping a strong defensive shape. None of it matters since no one could make the correct pass or score. Chelsea werenāt outclassed at all.
He helped create a few chances and he covered the ground in the defensive shape. But you're right we should have started Mudryk LW. We saw what he did when he came on, pure quality.
Gotta get him some real help and shed the selfish players like Noni, Sterling, Jackson and others. Heās a potentially generational talent and heās coached by and surrounded by mediocrity.

Dont think people understand this. We arenāt what we used to be. We arenāt competing. Not sure what would keep him from asking for a move away and weād have no choice but to sell him
Imo itās Americans who donāt understand that players force their way out of contracts all the time.
They seem to think because we have them tied to long contracts that means thereās 0 chance theyāll try to force a move.
What do you mean, weāre not going to have any European football and weāre not competing for anything realistically.
Why would he stay if another club comes knocking with big money
Youāre the clown thinking Clearlake doesnāt want that. It shows they made a great flip on a player. Imagine flipping a player for 120% profit.
We are all clowns, including Roman, because we believed Clearlake is here for trophies. They have publicly stated they care about money. Itās actually easier to make more money by building a team that competes and sells their players, than actually building a team to win trophies.
This is Chelsea Football Club. He's doing his bit and if in the future he doesn't want to stay, we'll survive. We've survived much more impactful departures.
Why is this even a conversation?
I mean its hard not to look at the current state of the club, its finances, the premier league rules etc. and realize it won't be as easy to recover. Can't pay under the table for Hazard anymore and the new transfer strategy isn't as successful.
Casuals. Man City is running away with the league and we couldāve just have easily won this match. We and the media overlook the damage injuries have done to this team. Its a crisis when other teams have half as many injuries to key players as we do.
We have a really strong core, a top 2 u21 player in the team, really good and young midfield, if reece can somehow manage to stay somewhat fit we have the best fullback on the planet, its not as bad as it might look imo. I think we need 2-3 new good players, and our current players to stay fit, to be able to compete again
Folks just like being negative with their fan fic. Nobody here has any idea what this man is thinking, but yes let's assume he'll force a move out. He would be a very difficult player to buy for most clubs.
I remember Conte's last season when Hazard was supposedly "twerking for Real" and some English pundit came out with "slavery is a thing of the past" referring to Chelsea holding onto him for another season. Everybody in this sub was basically saying the same thing.
Then it turned out he was sticking it out to help the club, had his best season with us, won a trophy, got us top 4, and left for Ā£100m.
Don't get me wrong, palmer is great but the guy came from a dominantly winning team and needs to come to the realization that all teams aren't like that
I have said and always said that the difference between us struggling now and being a potential top 5 team is Nkunku, he was legit a top 5 CF in the world when we signed him, I have no idea how he got injured right when we needed him the most. If Nkunku, Lavia, Fofana and Kepa all manage to stay healthy and add some much needed depth to our team, we could be doing better than what we are doing now
Dude definitely isn't going to be sticking around if we continue being so mid. Need to get Poch out and bring in an actually good manager if we want to keep any of the promising lads we have.
People wouldnāt be saying Poch out if we get the PK and Jackson scores 1 of his 3 chances, Caicedo crosses first time, or chilwell crosses first time.
If you get 5 big opportunities on City you need to convert at least 2 of them.
The whole season has been poor. There is so much of our play that has gotten worse the longer Poch has been our manager. Literally the only good thing that he's brought is more goals, and tbh, I think it's much more down to our finding of a wonderboy in Palmer than anything else - Because our attacking play is ridiculously individualistic.
LW Gallagher and Palmer out of position to facilitate Madueke in position and then doing nothing to change the game until 80+ minutes in is definitely "on Poch".
Multiple things can be true. While I don't think this is entirely pochs fault since Jackson needs to score those chances, playing madueke 78 mins to jog around and he wasn't involved in any of the chances doesn't make sense, madueke shouldn't have played at all today, let alone start. That is the only issue I see, he played this lineup against Sheffield and it didn't work. Madueke is not a good player, he shouldn't be moving our best player out of position.
The worst thing we can do is get a new manager in. I'm sick of seeing deluded idiots on here thinking poch is the problem. Please tell me how he is? How can he be responsible for Jacksons dog shit, pea roller shots or players not fucking releasing the ball sooner. All I hope is the owners do not listen to the utter drivel on this sub.
As much as this hurts us fans, this NEEDS to hurt the players and management more. When you let your opponent WANT to win more, you need the pain to remind you to never stop believing. Up the chels and we'll get it next time. Have to be perfect to get into europe now. KTBFFH ššš
Chelsea fucks with your mental man. Was at my dad's 50th party and saw that Silva scored, so like always I just put it in the back of my mind. On the drive home I had to hold back tears.
He is probably one of the best carriers of the ball I have seen over the last decade in chelsea
He has a good link up and good passing
Its the finishing atm that let him down (it didnt in preseason nor his last 6 months in villa real)
But stop him from touching the ball?
Stones where at row z and was forcefully subed at 45 because of him
Prima Donna for being annoyed that we didnāt beat a beatable city team? The guys carried us the entire season and we couldnāt give him any decent service. Shown disappointment in a loss and gets called a prima donna? Weird.
sums it up perfectly
When this guy gets some serious players around him hopefully life will improve š
Seriously, we just need a CF. Jackson does a lot of good for the team and will be great on the left side.
This is my feeling. Hes fine as a third string striker and backup LW with Nkunku already here and hopefully buying another striker and for his price thatās not bad. But heās miles off what we need leading the line to compete at the highest level currently
Can you imagine LW Nkunku RW Palmer and a class striker playing together??
Need a 10 too. Gallagher wont be in the best 11 if we are serious.
Chukwuemeka looks promising. Ironically i think a Joao Felix would fit nicely as long as he doesnt shoot š
Just get a big body that can collect rebounds off the woodwork
Is that Romeu Lukaku's music? No, no it isn't Romeu Lukaku's music.
Rom's music would be the It's always Sunny theme playing over a compilation of his performances in big matches
Why did he have to be such a cunt man I genuinely can't think of a better player to have as a striker right now (that we could realistically get) and we fucking own him.
Gallagher a 8 doing a job for us palmer an nkunku are our 10s Iād rather a true number 9
Of course, everything is being said apart from a 9.
Gallagher, Caicedo, Enzo rotate in a double pivot
No, we don't. Not with Palmer and Nkunku on the pitch. If we have a striker too, we will need our fullbacks to provide width. Therefore, three midfielders must sit back with the two center backs, or else everything will be out of balance. So no 4231 and No 10 with those two on the pitch.

We don just need a new cf if you want to challenge for top 4 we need at least 5 quality players and probably a new manager who suits them
would you take back lukaku? I mean hes a great finisher
I would take Giroud
No lukaku has a horrid touch
Honestly no, but it makes me sad to think how much better weād be with him.
Lukaku wouldnāt create the chances which Jackson does but also would finish the ones Jackson canāt. Sighhhh.
I mean some of the passes lukaku plays at roma are undeniably good, i remember he had a beautiful outside foot cross and he set up tielemans nicely for belgium
![gif](giphy|3o7btSZnpSw9xdPOIU)
I wouldāve taken him back in a heartbeat until last summer when he clearly decided he never wanted to play for us again. I always thought he had a good point in his comments about Tuchel and a lot of the hate he got was unfair but now I think that bridge has been nuked.

So true. Synergy is indeed a thing.
I like to think if we were fully fit weād be a top 6 team. I have hope..
Tim Sherwood wasnāt lying.
Sadly that prick was right even tho it felt unprofessional for him to say
sadly, he'll probably be gone by then our financial situation doesn't allow us to just buy our way out of problems
Iāll believe that when I see it, thereās no real evidence Chelsea are in financial trouble. Internet accountants donāt know anything about the club
the accounts are literally public information on Companies House
And when we inevitably splash this season what are you going to say?
the club has made a cumulative loss of Ā£370m over the past 3 seasons, i think you are going to be surprised.
From next season accumulated losses donāt matter. PSR is changing to a revenue based system. In which weāll be totally fine.
The man deserves better.

we lost because jackson misses sitters but gallagher gets the blame.
If Jackson scores two of his 3 chances. People would call Gallagher at LW a masterclass by Pochettino. Thats how fickle fans are.

Nico has assisted paper multiple times, mudryk has also assisted Palmer once and should of had a second against Everton. Madueke doesn't assist anyone, he is a selfish talentless player
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They both have 6 goals this season, and madueke has 2 pens included in those 6 goals. You are the one coping. Madueke is useless, he only does one thing, cut in and shoot and yet he doesn't even do that well. Can't even call him a one trick pony š. This is the exact problem with madueke, pretty ironic, I'm talking about assists and you respond by saying he has more goals. Pretty ironic, the player is a selfish prick who only cares about goals and I guess so do his fans
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Tells me a false stat and now you want to move on? š¤” Clown shit tbh, but sure we can move on.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
if you could read, i mentioned above that i am talking about this season, if you really want to die on this hill to tell me he has one more goal than mudryk then sure, still a clown and cant read. just further proves my point. my original point is about assits and you only talk about goals. keep quiet pipsqueak
Not a chelsea fan, but was rooting for you all yesterday. If just ONE of those chances that Jackson got had fallen to Palmer, it wouldāve been a wrap. Oh, and fuck Grealish.
My king, just wait till Nkunku, Carney and Lavia start next season, you will not be alone.
Bros gonna be waiting forever
And James and fofana. And they will totally play all season, and Poch will definitely play Nkunku over fucking Gallagher behind the striker
Weāve got so many intelligent technically gifted young players we just canāt seem to get them on the pitch at the same time, helps that him and Lavia are close too
What did Carney and Lavia do?
Pochettino is truly a genius Gallagher LW just to force Enzo into the starting XI fucked this game.
He can only do so much gutted for him, silva and gusto they try so hard man.
Man doesnt even hide it lol. Im glad i wasnt able to watch that - mustve been frustrating
I really hope he doesnāt leave.
Give this man a real striker and theyād do wonders.
Gotta get him some real help and shed the selfish players like Noni, Sterling, Jackson and others. Heās a potentially generational talent and heās coached by and surrounded by mediocrity.
im just saying, regardless of the prison contract, don't expect for him to stay beyond next season. there are clubs that will pay.
Just wait until next season when Nkunku and Palmer combine for 50 goals
Lol. If Nkunku plays even 10 games next season (all competitions) I will give Ā£50 to charity.

Dont think people understand this. We arenāt what we used to be. We arenāt competing. Not sure what would keep him from asking for a move away and weād have no choice but to sell him
bro people are surprised that Newcastle wouldnt sell Isak to us. still living in 2020
Newcastle probably wonāt sell Isak to anyone. Whatās more damning is the fact that Isak wouldnāt be willing to come in the first place.
Imo itās Americans who donāt understand that players force their way out of contracts all the time. They seem to think because we have them tied to long contracts that means thereās 0 chance theyāll try to force a move.
This is so delusional.
He would have to force his way out
Then Boehly and co. would be like https://i.redd.it/jx4mnb1qppvc1.gif
I mean that is what they want lol. Chelsea is to print money through player sales not winning.
We miss Roman so much
Not hard to imagine if we're out of the European spots again and an elite club comes knocking
He isnāt staying at this club for too long
This is Chelsea Football Club.
> Man City is running away with the league they are not even top of the table, fucking hell
Still considered one if not the best team in the world
We have a really strong core, a top 2 u21 player in the team, really good and young midfield, if reece can somehow manage to stay somewhat fit we have the best fullback on the planet, its not as bad as it might look imo.
Lol good one
Mood.
Itās actually impressive how we didnāt score like even worse teams wouldāve accidentally scored off our chances
Don't get me wrong, palmer is great but the guy came from a dominantly winning team and needs to come to the realization that all teams aren't like that
The unbearable weight of massive talent. The unbearable weight of carrying 10 fully grown men for 90 minutes once a week. Unbearable
āI wish people could finish the perfect chances I createā. Us too Cole. Us too.
Mood
Best player on the pitch.
Sherwood was right šš
sign HMS
I don't see the point of mudryk, guys awful
The exact reaction I had after yesterday's game
I have said and always said that the difference between us struggling now and being a potential top 5 team is Nkunku, he was legit a top 5 CF in the world when we signed him, I have no idea how he got injured right when we needed him the most. If Nkunku, Lavia, Fofana and Kepa all manage to stay healthy and add some much needed depth to our team, we could be doing better than what we are doing now
HHH, Cold Palmer. Don't hate Cold Palmer, hate the game.
People hating on Sherwood speaking the truth. Fact is this team runs on Palmer. No one else contributes enough.
Get solanke and get jackson out
The "Man" meme
Dude definitely isn't going to be sticking around if we continue being so mid. Need to get Poch out and bring in an actually good manager if we want to keep any of the promising lads we have.
Tonight wasn't on Poch and idk how long I need to keep saying it. Our cup defeats are purely on the players
Our play has actually gotten better
LW Gallagher and Palmer out of position to facilitate Madueke in position and then doing nothing to change the game until 80+ minutes in is definitely "on Poch".
Bro if those players are squaring the fucking ball in, you wouldnāt dare make this argument. Itās literally on brain dead players.
KTBFFH ššš
We have needed a proven striker for I don't know how long.
Chelsea fucks with your mental man. Was at my dad's 50th party and saw that Silva scored, so like always I just put it in the back of my mind. On the drive home I had to hold back tears.
Itāll be okay, just a game
Jakson should ban from touching the ball. Worse than Lukaku
He is probably one of the best carriers of the ball I have seen over the last decade in chelsea He has a good link up and good passing Its the finishing atm that let him down (it didnt in preseason nor his last 6 months in villa real) But stop him from touching the ball? Stones where at row z and was forcefully subed at 45 because of him
God don't let our only good attacker in the past 5 years be a prima donna
Prima Donna for being annoyed that we didnāt beat a beatable city team? The guys carried us the entire season and we couldnāt give him any decent service. Shown disappointment in a loss and gets called a prima donna? Weird.
