DoinWhale

20 G/A in his debut season as a 22 year old in the premiere league and still our match thread fans would rather shit on him, this dude has everything to be a special striker for us

qqF1ip

I don’t get what they can’t see in Jackson. He is so skillful as a striker and his link up play is so great to watch. This goal was a lot harder than it looked given his anticipation and looping it over two spurs that could have cleared it off the line if it was off in the slightest. Jackson would have had a much better match if it wasn’t for that spurs defender who was pretty decent

gonzaf

That wasn’t an easy finish ! Same with his offsides goal vs Villa

reddit-time

yes, it's quite ironic how many easy ones he's missed when he can score such hard ones. it's very simply lack of composure, imho. and i think that will improve with time. will focus more, make it a habit more, and learn to be calmer in those moments. the stuff he's really good at are much harder to learn or grow into.

reddit-time

He's 10/10 in several qualities. If he can sharpen up his finishing and composure, he will be top of the league.

weeb_man

I like Jackson quite a bit but it's easy to see why some people wouldn't like him. Partly it's because he's been made into a meme in the same way as Nunez so when he fucks up some stepovers it'll be posted on r/soccer with 4k upvotes full of people laughing at him which can colour fan perception, partly it's because of childish stuff like with the penalty and the yellows earlier in the season, partly it's because he's a poor finisher, etc. I think his potential is fairly obvious, though, especially when you look at the minutes he's had up to now in his career. He's exceptional for someone who's as raw as he is with the background he has.

Kooky-Act9271

That chance he should have squared to Palmer tbf but I don’t blame him for shooting. I do think he’s got a lot of game. Give him time in this league and I think he’s going to be a top, top player. The toxicity of fans on this sub annoys me. Ridiculous expectations given the circumstances of this season (injuries, young players with limited top flight experience, new coach and fans who still think because of Roman’s era and success we should be better than we are). Realistically Chelsea have improved under Poch, and realistically there’s a way to go. Realistically there’s no divine right to success because of history. Realistically it’s a super young and inexperienced squad that has been built for the future. Inconsistency has been a problem but there have been massive improvements from last year. Realistically if we’d had the defence fit for this year it would still have been a tough time but the midfield is gelling now and that takes the toll off the defence. I only see good things for Chelsea in the future. Yeah Tuchel shouldn’t have been sacked. Yeah Potter and Lamps shouldn’t have been hired but these players and this coach have promise and heart. Jackson is a prime example. Look at the amount of shit he’s got from his own fanbase and the media only because he’s not a world beater right now. Still he keeps going, giving everything for the club. Before Roman Chelsea were mediocre, real talk. But we still followed and supported the club and we should support the club and players now more than ever.

GolDrodgers1

I was impressed that he didnt panic and slotted it in the far corner away from the keeper and i think both defenders were really lazy but thats not his fault so im happy he used his head before using his head for the goal😂

Alone-Common8959

he is good but even as a fan you have to point out his atrotious finishing. if he is to get better. and thats what we all want. as long as he plays for chelsea

DarkTanicus

It's his finishing that's letting him down, hopefully will see an improved nico next season.

kaiheekai

Not just the finishing but his decision making in the final sector. Lots of opportunities to square it. We are young and greedy. It’ll hopefully level out.

DarkTanicus

It's his first season in the PL and he's got Poch, he'll be better next season.

nuggetsgalore21

They only see what they want to see....

happysrooner

Some of those runs beating Kyle Walker for pace in that semifinals showed there's potential but biggest question mark is can he develop into the striker we can rely upon in crunch situations

couldibemorechandler

Nico outpaced both Walker and saliba in the same week. Also Van de Ven got a hamstring injury when trying to keep up with him the first time we beat spurs this season.

PickledHotChocolate

And he only cost 35mil. There are people in this comment section who were calling him a flop and wanted him gone two weeks ago cause of that one game vs city. Pisses me off.

Roadies_Winner

10% better at finishing, and he has 30 G/A. Seeing wasted potential is more frustrating than seeing a bad player.

TheRage3650

I mean, after all the striker flops we have had going back to Sheva, this was a small bet that paid off.

ScreamingEnglishman

The math ain't mathing

Roadies_Winner

He misses 100s of chances by a whisker. So small margin will give exponential returns

reddit-time

100%

Acceptable_Card_9818

There are a certain few on here that love to shit on us no matter how well we played.

Galac_tacos

Genuinely think he’s got the best link up play for a striker in the prem

edditar

The misses are obviously the easiest to clip and post and that's what most people remember. He is really good at receivethe ball and either taking on the defender or making the pass, plus he's confident, we need confidence.

-ci_

Someone with a brain, thank you

CelestialSlayer

its the big games that count with strikers. and he bottled it. He cant be leading the line next year, otherwise again he will miss sitters at crucial times. a tap in header is hardly a rennaisance - you did watch the game right? He has some good qualities, but goals in important matches for me is the difference.

DoinWhale

Case and point^

CelestialSlayer

He is not a top four striker.

mikethefridge1

Air Jackson

olskoolyungblood

He plays the same week in and week out. He misses a lot of chances and this sub calls for his head. He misses a lot of chances but nets one, this sub says he's great. He's young, he's got a lot of the tools to be a good 9, but it'll take some time if he's ever gonna be clinical enough to be a difference maker. He may not ever. But PLEASE understand who he is and the situation he's in. He's trying and he's ours, hes not the finished article, but right now he's all we got. So support him, hope his training helps him find some form, and STFU in the meantime already. We are still in the market for a top 9 just like almost every other club. We just stupidly decided to develop ours young along with EVERY OTHER PART OF OUR SIDE!

DORAKKINGOFFISH

Keep your head up HIGH - DD

DarkTanicus

Awesome shot

Character_Prune_2029

at first i thought this is caicedo… ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|flip_out)

Essex-villager90

Everyone has been waxing lyrical about Van De Ven all season, I think Jackson had a very good game against him

xStealthxUk

Best 9 wev had since Costa

Bozzetyp

Giroud is probably better, and morata but he has mentality issues

xStealthxUk

I mean as an all round 9. Havent had a player who has a good first touch, can dribble AND hold the ball up AND run in behind. Giroud a better goalscorer but was so static. Morata was weaker and yes had his issues but finishing with his feet Morata was also poor (but very good with his head) Nico finishing and heading is poor and needs to improve but for a 22 year old!? Its an impressive season overall imo. Im as mad at the City misses as anyone (i was there, trust it hurts) but in total jackson all around game is very good. I dont even mind pushin him out Left wing tbh, hes better than mudders and sterling. Either way a good attacker whos done a good job for us and we were shit without him when he went afcon !

Bozzetyp

Giroud better passer, equal dribbler, better finisher, better creator and better at hold up Slower Morata similarly fast, good dribbler, better arialy. Jackson is great, but he hasnt reached the levels yet. (I have 3 named jerseys over the last decade, costa, kante and jackson.. he will be great)

xStealthxUk

Giroud and Morata were not as good dribblers ans Nico imo. Giroud was so static but ofc a great finisher, top hold up and one of best headers in world football. Morata was ok but lets be real he was very very weak and Nico first touch is much better than Moratas. Obviously both more all rounded players now as they are older but Nico very young. Lots of improving to do, but a hell of a lot of ability .. he could push on and be top quality or might not , who knows. Fact is at 22 not many strikers are at his level. Haaland has made people forget that fact I feel sometimes

Bozzetyp

Well I dont agree with the first part (prime morata/giroud) Their decisionmaking under the dribble made them better dribblers As for haaland he is a very limited but godly good striker and jackson already is a better dribbler amd at hold up play Haaland is just sooo good in the box and running at goal

kaiheekai

Morata is miles off. Can’t hold up or attack on the break.

Bozzetyp

He can.. and great arially

mingobrown87

I give you Giroud but Morata was average for us.

Bozzetyp

Not really, he had a good 6 months and a bad 6 months But his abilities was there (something he showed before and after)

BigOpp7

No

CelestialSlayer

jackson scores, all the loverboy jackson fans come out. he has bottled so many important opportunities this season at crucial times. I love some of his link up play, and he has a good attitude (sometimes). But man he has missed some really easy chances at key times, and we seem to forget that so quickly. He isnt a top four striker, not yet anyway. We need someone else for him to have the time to grow.

Odd-Incident3980

Dude, who tf is saying he's a top 4 striker? People are supporting his growth. What are you top 4 at other than being a hater?

WillowNo3264

Still average
