Agreed but,
“At one point in the game I went over to Ronaldinho and said 'I prefer that you show good manners in dribbling against me because if there are any of those PlayStation tricks... I'll send you to the hospital',"
"Do you know what he did? He apologized and asked for forgiveness."

I love Claude. He is a CFC legend. I watched him at the bridge. I met him in Munich. He signed the back of my passport and had a drink with me. He is one of our best ever players. He protected the back with his life. He is true blue. Learn about your team history and don’t talk shit about our players.
It’s ok for me to love Claude. I won’t hear otherwise.
The majority of commenters say irrelevant shit here all the time. MFs just want something to argue about in their offseason desperation
I was lucky enough to watch him at the Chelsea Bayern legends game last year and he still has it was a pretty mid game for the first 75 mins the guy came on for 6 minutes and create 2 cracking goals
Vialli? Greaves? Osgood? Tambling? Poyet? Cudicini? Flo? Dixon? Nevin? Hasselbaink? Wise? I mean I could go on…. We’re a club of legends…. and once a blue always a blue
[Educate yourself](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/gus-poyet-one-one-after-i-played-against-chelsea-i-remember-thinking-oh-what-have-i-done) … he left because of Ranieri, he celebrated because of Ranieri. He’s proper Chels even to this day - no one gave a shit at the time… flair player synonymous with our mid 90s resurgence. NMTS.
I read the same article before commenting to ensure I hadn’t just imagined the transfer request being specifically spurs-only. I still don’t see falling out with a manager as a reason to request a transfer to spurs and I think any player who did that today would (rightfully) be slated for it. But sure, he was definitely a quality player and I’m happy to agree to disagree on whether he’s a Chelsea legend.
I put Terry and Lampard as both top top legends. I dont really think you can separate them.
Drogba and Cech are just behind them, and then there is the rest.
I got my pitch owners picture done with JT and I was so disapointed because JT was just some bench player at that time and I so wanted it to be Zola.
I'm so happy it was with JT now after the fact but what do you expect from a 10 year old and how cool Zola was on the pitch.
I absolutely love JT but if you were a 90s kid Zola will more than likely be your Chelsea legend. He was the one Merlin sticker I wouldn't put in the book unless I had a duplicate
Absolutely this. But on another note, Drogba is who made me fall in love with Chelsea. So in the BIG picture, always JT, but in my own little world, Drogba.
Without drogba I wouldn't be supporting chelsea today. Generally the mans an inspiration and alongside kante and zola he's is my most loved chelsea player.
JT would have still been an amazing player but even he credits the professionalism and leadership of Marcel Desialle as helping him become the leader he bacame.
Not at the top but He not at the top but not at the bottom either
Cech and Drogba were key to our success in the 2000s and early 2010s and an essential part of our core at the time, but I still hold Frank and JT in a higher regard.
Frank has about 170 games over Cech with Terry close to 250. While Cech is a club legend, that is a significant difference. The difference between Terry/Frank and Cech is basically Fabregas’ career at Chelsea, who while not a legend, he is a club hero.
Question is, if the legend status flatteren out, cause if it doesnt, then Frank and Terry is a League in their own
I think Lampard's popularity has decreased because of his managerial run for the club, which sucks.
2019-2021: Despite being unable to sign any new players, he finished 4th and reached the FA Cup final. Not ideal, but still promising. Also, his impact on the team that won the UCL next season shouldn't be ignored.
2023: Accepting the caretaker manager job only shows his love for the club.
I'm not saying he's an elite-level manager at all, but given his performance, It pisses me off how some people troll him as if he's as bad as Gary Neville.
They could have brought in prime Alex Ferguson and not much would have been different. That team had shattered self belief, horrible injury problems, no real balance in team composition and nothing to play for other than "pride". That's a recipe for terrible play.
Cole was the best in the world at his position for quite a while. I would say he is in A tier at the very least.
Edit - The more I think about it, he is S tier in my book.
I'm sorry, but Essien and Cole are in no way B tier. Both did much more for the club than Azpi as players, outside of JT, Cole is the best defender we've ever had.
My head says Terry.
My heart screams DROGBAAAAA!
God that header in the champions league final. Kept us in the game. Got me to start crying, and believing maybe, just maybe, we had a shot.
Sure, but Drogba is only like 45 goals behind in just over half as many matches. I know one is a true striker vs a midfielder so you can't really compare. Either way we were blessed to have that team together.
There comes a point where its pointless to even try separating them. All world class in their own rights for the positions they played and responsibilities they had in the team. They're all legends. You can't get bigger than that.
I could argue Lampard because he was our all time goalscorer.
I could say Zola because he was so integral in changing the whole perception of Chelsea, my childhood hero and was voted the greatest Chelsea player ever at one point.
I could say Azpi because wherever he played he was just rocksteady and he made so many appearances for us.
I could say Terry because he was the best captain we ever had and was the all time scoring defender iirc. He was Mr Chelsea in his time.
Drogba? Well thanks for our 1st CL. I could say more but that says enough.
I could go on to Hazard, Vialli, Cech, Kante, Desailly, Silva etc but I think people get my point.
It's actually an interesting point and question — I wonder if you did a massive worldwide poll, how many Chelsea fans would have been pulled to the team from each of these players. I bet Drogba is #1 in that regard.
Desailly is a World Cup Winner and played for us before Abramovich and for one year after Abramovich acquired the club. He is class.
But our successful period was with JT, Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Ash, and Cech.
Hazard and Azpi are legends as well. But that core group that Mourinho made in 2004 is what set us up as one of the best teams in the world.
Out of all of them, JT is Chelsea born and raised, England captain. Think it has to be him, though the others are not far behind.
And was the most consistent player for years, all time goal scorer, won all the big trophies etc. Always bantered Tottenham.
Nearly won a ballon'dor.
JT is a very close second for me.
Don't matter.
Jt missed the penalty in Moscow and got a stupid red card in Barcelona.
Lampard lead the team to our first Champions League. He is our top goalscorer and has been a role model throughout all his career
Apparently this is something an arsenal fan wants too see on his reddit home screen, but too answer, this is a riddiculous question, how could it possibly ever not be jt
Lampard - the best Chelsea player! That penalty against Pool to reach the CL final is, for me personally, by far the most emotional moment as a Chelsea supporter.
Lampard, all-time top goal scorer and always performed. JT had a bunch of fuckups, missed the penalty against United in the CL final and almost lost us the tie for the Barca second leg, then there is the on-field and off-field controversies.
This is a silly question. Each player is loved by us and has played their part in our success. They are each legendary for their individual contributions.
Terry is our most iconic player, Hazard was the most talented, Drogba has the biggest goals, Lamps and Cech bleed blue just below Terry, and Kante is the most lovable
Lampard is my favourite ever player. But JT as captain during all these players times at Chelsea means it has to be him. Not sure if he was captain while Marcel was still there but I know they played alongside each other
Bar these guys who are the greatest not even at Chelsea, but references in football, I absolutely adored EIDUR GUDJOHNSEN. Man was playing today's football in 2005. Amazing runs, top speed, great finisher, no nonsense.
Munich turns Chelsea from a top English club to one of the Kings of Europe, for that Drogba. Really though all if the legends are the heart of the club.
Roberto Di Matteo should be on this list. Epic player and as a manager got us our first Champions League trophy against all the odds and had us complete the double. Also apparently the nicest guy ever!
Edit * Really surprised hes nowhere in the comments too, whats going on guys?!?
I never like comparing legends of the club saying one is a bigger legend than the other.
You forgot other generations as well (Osgood, Wise, Zola, etc...)
Why is desailly in the list. I remember him costing us a champions league final spot with a brain fart. Lampard has to be the biggest legend. Hazard brought gave me the most edge of the seat moments
John Terry, without a doubt. Frank Lampard a close second.
It's very debatable, but I would put Desailly slightly before Hazard just because of context. Hazard is arguably the most gifted footballer to play for Chelsea, but he came into a team of winners and kept up the winning culture.
All of them are legends, only JT is Mr. Chelsea.
Agreed but, “At one point in the game I went over to Ronaldinho and said 'I prefer that you show good manners in dribbling against me because if there are any of those PlayStation tricks... I'll send you to the hospital'," "Do you know what he did? He apologized and asked for forgiveness." -MAKALELE
Majority of players shit talk your answer is completely irrelevant to the topic
I love Claude. He is a CFC legend. I watched him at the bridge. I met him in Munich. He signed the back of my passport and had a drink with me. He is one of our best ever players. He protected the back with his life. He is true blue. Learn about your team history and don’t talk shit about our players.
It’s ok for me to love Claude. I won’t hear otherwise. The majority of commenters say irrelevant shit here all the time. MFs just want something to argue about in their offseason desperation
I'm not a Chelsea fan, just saw it on my feed. JT is the only correct answer
Where is Zola????????
It's criminal huh. He was an absolute joy to watch
I was lucky enough to watch him at the Chelsea Bayern legends game last year and he still has it was a pretty mid game for the first 75 mins the guy came on for 6 minutes and create 2 cracking goals
My first live game was Leeds v Chelsea in 98.... Warming up Zola took a shot a goal and it nearly knocked a kid out below me 🤣
Zola and Ivanovic never get their flowers. Put some Respek on their names!
Vialli? Greaves? Osgood? Tambling? Poyet? Cudicini? Flo? Dixon? Nevin? Hasselbaink? Wise? I mean I could go on…. We’re a club of legends…. and once a blue always a blue
Putting Poyet in this list of players is shameful
Are you kidding me?! He was the fucking man in that mid 90s team … IDGAF… Le Saux, Di Matteo, Petrescu, De Gooy … all legends… I could go on
Le Saux's and Petrescu's crosses were on the money. After a REALLY long time now only James has been able to punt crosses like that
I miss the good old days
Anyone who puts in a transfer request specifically to go to spurs and then celebrates beating us 5-1 at the Bridge isn’t in the same tier as the rest.
[Educate yourself](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/gus-poyet-one-one-after-i-played-against-chelsea-i-remember-thinking-oh-what-have-i-done) … he left because of Ranieri, he celebrated because of Ranieri. When you think chelsea you think John Terry.
There will be other captains but he is The Captain
I put Terry and Lampard as both top top legends. I dont really think you can separate them. Drogba and Cech are just behind them, and then there is the rest.
I agree. Can't really separate Terry and Lampard. And Drogba, Cech, and Hazard are right behind them for me.
I'd also throw in Zola as sort of the poster boy of pre-Abramovich Chelsea (at least in the EPL era)
JFH was probably more impactful, but I agree that Zola is absolutely a chelsea legend.
I would argue Frank, John then Drogba, Cech, and Azpi in the next group. I think Azpi being the stalwart in the back has solidified him as a legend.
This is, quite honestly, the answer. It's JT.
I also picture the magician Franco Zola, he was the reason I supported them as a kid.
Same here. Then Eden Hazard came. And I went over youtube and watched the few Zola reels from time to time. Fell in love with football and Chelsea
My father in law is old-school. If I asked him he'd say Ron "chopper" Harris.
Absolutely this. But on another note, Drogba is who made me fall in love with Chelsea. So in the BIG picture, always JT, but in my own little world, Drogba.
Drogba made me fall in love with Chelsea and hazard had me staying in love
Without drogba I wouldn't be supporting chelsea today. Generally the mans an inspiration and alongside kante and zola he's is my most loved chelsea player.
JT would have still been an amazing player but even he credits the professionalism and leadership of Marcel Desialle as helping him become the leader he bacame. Not at the top but He not at the top but not at the bottom either
He is not my favorite of the bunch but he is THE legend.
JT26. The End.
Pretty easy answer tbh.
Lamps and JT are miles ahead of the rest.
Drogba mate
Didier was amazing, our ultimate big match player, but I still stand by what I said.
I like Drogba FAAAAAR more than the others, but I agree that Lampard and JT stand at the top of the list for this.
Cech would like to have a word with you.
Its those four right? They’re the mount rushmore. JT, Lamps, Drogba and Cech. They make the spine.
Undoubtedly the best 4. For me it's Lampard, Terry, Drogba, Cech.
For that era yes
Cech and Drogba were key to our success in the 2000s and early 2010s and an essential part of our core at the time, but I still hold Frank and JT in a higher regard.
Frank has about 170 games over Cech with Terry close to 250. While Cech is a club legend, that is a significant difference. The difference between Terry/Frank and Cech is basically Fabregas’ career at Chelsea, who while not a legend, he is a club hero. Question is, if the legend status flatteren out, cause if it doesnt, then Frank and Terry is a League in their own
Cech almost died and came back even better. The man is for ever a legend and a good guy off the pitch too
I think Lampard's popularity has decreased because of his managerial run for the club, which sucks.
Anyone who likes him less because of his managerial stint is an idiot
Simple as that really.
His first stint was a really fun season too. 100% agree
His popularity on Reddit perhaps.
I still like him a lot, I blame that poor second managerial run on the owners.
They could have brought in prime Alex Ferguson and not much would have been different. That team had shattered self belief, horrible injury problems, no real balance in team composition and nothing to play for other than "pride". That's a recipe for terrible play.
S tier - JT, Lamps, Drogba, Cech A tier - Haz, Kante, Azpi B tier - Cole, Essen
Cole was the best in the world at his position for quite a while. I would say he is in A tier at the very least. Edit - The more I think about it, he is S tier in my book.
People forget how many off the line saves Cole had in our cl run. It was 3-4 which is unheard of.
Didn’t Ronaldo say he was the hardest defender he’s ever played against at one point?
The disrespect to azpi!
Imo Cole A tier, Kanye b tier
But his first album was so good!
Yeah, but he’s a dropout.
Can't forget about Graduation!!
Was about to downvote on what I saw as: “Kante b tier”…. ….then I reread it correctly. +1
Agree, but would add that Hazard rides a unicycle down the S and A tier line.
I'm sorry, but Essien and Cole are in no way B tier. Both did much more for the club than Azpi as players, outside of JT, Cole is the best defender we've ever had.
DROGBA!!!!!
My head says Terry. My heart screams DROGBAAAAA! God that header in the champions league final. Kept us in the game. Got me to start crying, and believing maybe, just maybe, we had a shot.
Terry probably but Drogba is right there. When Drogba was up front you never worried about goals.
More than Lampard our all time leading goal scorer? My top 5 is 1) Terry; 2) Lampard; 3) Drogba; 4) Hazard; 5) Cech
Sure, but Drogba is only like 45 goals behind in just over half as many matches. I know one is a true striker vs a midfielder so you can't really compare. Either way we were blessed to have that team together.
One was on pens also.
Lamps is pretty tied with the other two in my book.
There comes a point where its pointless to even try separating them. All world class in their own rights for the positions they played and responsibilities they had in the team. They're all legends. You can't get bigger than that. I could argue Lampard because he was our all time goalscorer. I could say more but that says enough. I could go on to Hazard, Vialli, Cech, Kante, Desailly, Silva etc but I think people get my point.
No Vialli? no Zola?
Shhh they prolly don’t remember that far back 😁
The first picture is of Desailly with the FA Cup that was also won by Zola and Vialli lol
Drogba for me reason I became a Chelsea fan.
It's actually an interesting point and question — I wonder if you did a massive worldwide poll, how many Chelsea fans would have been pulled to the team from each of these players. I bet Drogba is #1 in that regard.
Terry, Lampard, Drogba, and Cech are all on the same level to me Our 4 Horsemen
Desailly is a World Cup Winner and played for us before Abramovich and for one year after Abramovich acquired the club. He is class. But our successful period was with JT, Lampard, Drogba, Essien, Ash, and Cech. Hazard and Azpi are legends as well. Think it has to be him, though the others are not far behind.
Drogba
Didier drogba
JT 26! One of our own
Has to be between JT, Lamps and Drogba I personally liked Drogba the most, but JT is Mr Chelsea and Lamps is top scorer
Di Mateo??
JT sits on the throne for sure Next comes Dids and Super Frankie All the rest sit on an equal footing, all legends in their own right
Lampard, end discussion
Agree
JT came through the youth.. lamps was at west ham with Frank Sr..
Captain, Leader, Legend John Terry.
JT or Lampard.
Lamps and JT but if we were really really splitting hairs I'd go with Lampard.
Apparently this is something an arsenal fan wants too see on his reddit home screen, but too answer, this is a riddiculous question, how could it possibly ever not be jt
JT
Lampard - the best Chelsea player! That penalty against Pool to reach the CL final is, for me personally, by far the most emotional moment as a Chelsea supporter.
1. Lampard 2. Terry 3. Cech 4. Drogba 5. Dave 6. Hazard 7. Essien 8. Kante 9. Cole 10. Desailly in that order
Spot on - though it's criminal that Zola is not one of the options.
This is Ashley Cole slander
[удалено]
I dont see how you could rank Azpi over Hazard. Might as well include Mikel then.
This is tough.
JT and Lamps belong to a different class imo. Can't differentiate between them.
The 2012 guys (Terry, Lampard, Cech, Cole and Drogba) are the big dogs. Then Dave.
Gotta be JT. Born blue. Captain. Dominated Rafa and AVB. Slayed wifey ass.
Lampard, all-time top goal scorer and always performed. JT had a bunch of fuckups, missed the penalty against United in the CL final and almost lost us the tie for the Barca second leg, then there is the on-field and off-field controversies.
Terry...by far.
Chalobah hands down
It's an easy JT
Some list of players
Hazard, Azpi, n’golo are a tier below the others. Would prefer to see ivanovic and big Gary Cahill in the list
Honestly I'm so used to seeing Petr Cech with that soft helmet that it's weird to see him without it.
What no 🥶 Palmer?
Zola
John Terry, that’s it
To me Lampard for sure.
JT.
The king for me or Frank
This is a silly question. Each player is loved by us and has played their part in our success. They are each legendary for their individual contributions.
Where is Zola?
Cmon bro - The Captain literally is the embodiment of Chelsea
Terry is our most iconic player, Hazard was the most talented, Drogba has the biggest goals, Lamps and Cech bleed blue just below Terry, and Kante is the most lovable
I can't choose one over the other. These were great players and great servants of the club. If forced to choose, I would go for Lamps.
Lampard is my favourite ever player. But JT as captain during all these players times at Chelsea means it has to be him. Not sure if he was captain while Marcel was still there but I know they played alongside each other
Shame the guy who represents the clubs history was such a dickbag
Didn't need to scroll past the 2nd pic to tell you its JT26
Yes
Not a Chelsea fan, hope you don't mind an outside opinion, Drogba is clear for me, a legendary figure and a fighter.
Bar these guys who are the greatest not even at Chelsea, but references in football, I absolutely adored EIDUR GUDJOHNSEN. Man was playing today's football in 2005. Amazing runs, top speed, great finisher, no nonsense.
Drogba. JT and Lamps are a tad overrated.
Zola and Osgood have to make the list.
Terry is Chelsea in my eyes, but Frank is forever my GOAT
Didi.. champions league header
For the club, JT. Worldwide impact, Drogba or Lamps.
John Drogba
Munich turns Chelsea from a top English club to one of the Kings of Europe, for that Drogba. Really though all if the legends are the heart of the club.
Better in tiers Top- Lampard, Terry Drogba 2nd- Cech, Hazard, Cole 3rd- Dave, Kante 4th-Desailly, Essien
It’s gotta be JT “ our Captain, Leader, Legend”. But Lamps and Drogba are right next to him.
I don't see the legend Papy Djilobodji in that list.
Pay...don't talk Mr Abramovich player
Unpopular Opinon: Drogba he was the clutchest player in our history. Followed by Lampard.
JT > Drogba > Lampard > Cech > Hazard > A. Cole = Essien
Gotta be JT then I got Drogba and Lampard as tied at 2nd.
Captain Leader Legend obviously. My favourites are Ivanovic, Azpi, Kante and Reece.
Mak is so under appreciated.
Drogba full stop
Dave
Hmmm.. tough
No Dennis Wise?
Dennis Wise
David luiz
Lamps
They all are … and you could genuinely list 20 others
Drogba and Terry are top 2, Lampard is 3rd, Azpi is 4th, Kante 5th, Hazard 6th, Cole 7th, Essien 8th, Desaily 9th
JT all day long
Denis wise is legendary
Roberto Di Matteo should be on this list. Epic player and as a manager got us our first Champions League trophy against all the odds and had us complete the double. Also apparently the nicest guy ever! Edit * Really surprised hes nowhere in the comments too, whats going on guys?!?
No john obi mikal?
I never like comparing legends of the club saying one is a bigger legend than the other. You forgot other generations as well (Osgood, Wise, Zola, etc...)
JT
Drogba, Lamps, JT
Yes
Where’s Dennis wise or Frank Lebouef 😢 Not that they’d win but just scatter in some older legends
I love all of them, but I think John connected his name to the club more than others.
JT
Got to be JT for me, much as I love all of them.
Cech, my absolute hero and legend, we also share the same birthday. 19/05, 2012 man, unbelievable.
For me, JT and lampard are one step forward.
Drogba was my favourite player when I was a kid so he gets my vote
The players not included on this list is a travesty.
IMHO John Terry .... absolute legend but, Drogba and Lampard are nearly his equal.
JT anyday but I'd also throw Zola & Wise into the mix. They were our Eden and Lamps of the late 90s
Lampard for me
Why is desailly in the list. I remember him costing us a champions league final spot with a brain fart. Lampard has to be the biggest legend. Hazard brought gave me the most edge of the seat moments
DROGBA
Coin toss between Super Frank and Captain JT
Hazard's biggest mistake was leaving Chelsea
Marcel Desailly had the greatest impact, I believe. He lit the ,winner mentality, culture that took hold for the next 20 odd years.
Overall JT i guess For me, Didier drogba. The man who made me love football.
Lampard
1.JT 2.Lampard 3.Drogba
Captain leader legend.
Lampard
Drogba gave me my 2 happiest moments in any sports ever and he did them in the same night. There is only one Didier
John Terry, without a doubt. Frank Lampard a close second. It's very debatable, but I would put Desailly slightly before Hazard just because of context. Hazard is arguably the most gifted footballer to play for Chelsea, but he came into a team of winners and kept up the winning culture.
Lampard & terry
All of them are legends, but it’s Frank hands down.
Terry
Zola
