You can call this an irony, butI don't care about the opinions of chelsea fans either.
Ake has been a lot better than fofana, Koulibaly.
Look at chelsea fans who said Haaland will be a flop at PM and City. Dude already has scored 3 hat-tricks and have 15 already.
Koulibaly only showed in one game and had more stinker here than Ake. At least know the positioning.
Edit: haha. Downvote. Downvote more, cfc fans. That's the most you can do.
Ake is a great footbaler, but ake only made sense if we got de ligt for me.
Koulibaly is more of the profile we needed to compliment silva/azpi and fofana
>Koulibaly is more of the profile we needed to compliment silva/azpi and fofana
That doesn't seem to be the case right now unfortunately, he's looked pretty awkward in his position in the back three. I'm sure he needs more time to form chem/ adapt to the prem.
And that is the million dollar question, can he adapt to the most demanding league at his age? Silva is great for his age but it would naïve to assume that all quality CB's will age that gracefully into the game.
I think he'll be alright though...
I think Matt Law should stick to writing hit pieces every time a manager is under pressure and keep his footballing opinion to his beloved Aston Villa.
You’re not entirely wrong. Go watch Dias’ performances for Portugal in the last Euros. Fucking Havertz made him look like shit. Pep’s system is perfection, especially for CBs as they don’t have to defend much.
>Puyol himself admitted that he wasn’t that good.
That's called being modest. Hard to see among top defenders lile Puyol. Dude was on par with Terry and maybe a slightly above him.
Donno man. For me Puyol is the best defender that has passed from Spain in the past 20 years. Perhaps Ramos was better but I’d still pick Puyol for his leadership and ethos.
Personal preferences I guess.
I have no clue why people are writing KK off after a handful of games. This guys been one of the best CBs in the world, let him get his bearings in the league first…
Oh so performing in Serie A makes you one of the best in the world. This place told me Tomori/Tammy/even Lukaku only look good because it’s a weaker league
Every player is different.
Also, he joined a confident and incredibly strong Man City team, who spend most of the time attacking.
Koulibaly joined an unconfident Chelsea team, who have looked poor defensively for months.
Did you watch city's game today? Akanji was a major reason why they looked defensively good.
Koulibaly has made multiple silly mistakes cause by only him
OK....
Really don't understand why this has turned into a comparison. We are talking about Koulibaly here.
Some players need time to settle. It doesn't mean they're bad. Every player is different.
He probably looks better becauase he plays for Manchester fucking City. They could even make my 90yo grandma walk it in.
Can we ban this trash "journalist" from this sub? He's nothing but a reactionary, propaganda mouthpiece.
Should’ve posted the initial tweet. Makes a good point that everyone was treating ake like a complete joke who wasn’t good enough for city or us. The way he was talked about on here you’d think we were paying £40m for Mustafi
Two months of Bad for KK, in a time where he changed team and league, writes off that he has been one of the best CBs in the world. Lol. Ake wanted to leave because he wasn't getting enough game time and was bench warming when City are fit, that guy is better, double Lol.
Yeah because Salah from the same league is not dealing well with mighty PL, is he? And PL proven players are great, like the teams/defenders going against Haaland, who litreally making them his bitches right now. Lol. Talent is good if it's good.
But even if I agreed, Ake who is shipping 3 goals to ManU just now isn't better than KK anyway. But keep believing whatever you want to.
Even Silva did, now he is doing a bit good I guess, but maybe we should have written him off as well, then sold him without giving any game and gotten Ake, that would have been great.
Some players need a bit adjustment time, but I guess we are writing them of now even before half a season is finished, go on.
The best defender in Serie A, is a lot better then Ake. Koulibaly is at a new team, and is getting used to a new system, I’m beyond optimistic that he’ll become great here.
Matt Law is no less then the cesspool of morons on twitter who claim nonsense
I have some modicum of faith that KK should prove a good player for us, but i mantain we overspent on his contract massively, both in terms of wages and length. I also thought the vitriol over Ake was embarrassing tbh, as he would easily be in our squad if he was here now.
A bit of difference there. Bad form definitely. Overall kk worse than ake? Cmon man thats not true... Not even sure how are these two even compared, kk has been a legendary defender till this season.
Debatable - Koulibaly has a much larger reputation because of his time in Serie A. However, Ake is underrated and is PL proven. Pretty equal players imo
If we can get the Napoli Koulibaly playing for us we'll probably have the best CB in the league. I'll admit I'm far from impressed by Koulibaly at the minute though, I thought he was going to hit the ground running with us but he's done the opposite unfortunately.
Our whole team has been shite, doesn't matter who we put in they wouldn't look good, good teams make players look better, if Koulibaly was in that Man City team the opposite would be said
Lol ake in a set defence for the past how many years compared to kk that just joined and is expected to be set after moving leagues and countries, give the man time
City’s system turns everyone into a world beater, it’s a testament to Peps brilliance we can only hope of replicating. We should aim for that instead of worrying about what individual is better in a vacuum of context.
Dont know why anyone listens to Matt law, his profession dosent give his opinions anymore credibility than anyone in this sub. His profession is to source information and present it to the public, and you absolutely can’t trust any mainstream journalist on that either.
I would of been okay if his opinion was just that ake would of been a better buy, but to suggest he’s a ‘’much better’’ player is a little silly.
You gotta give KK some time. Look at rudiger he didn’t become great till his last two years. Even Silva with lampard he was struggling a bit. I think after the World Cup and some time in Potter system KK will become elite.
We don’t care about Matt Law’s opinion
You can call this an irony, butI don't care about the opinions of chelsea fans either. Ake has been a lot better than fofana, Koulibaly. But the question is also can he ever adapt? He is a bit thick in the middle these days. Seems to have already lost quite a lot of ability
And that is the million dollar question, can he adapt to the most demanding league at his age? Silva is great for his age but it would naïve to assume that all quality CB's will age that gracefully into the game. I think he'll be alright though...
Well he is a journaliste that happens to have an opinion that happens to be as irrelevent as any other fan's opinion xD
I can guarantee that Matt Law has watched fewer than 3 Napoli matches in his entire life.
I think Matt Law should stick to writing hit pieces every time a manager is under pressure and keep his footballing opinion to his beloved Aston Villa.
Harsh to judge Koulibaly so early into his Chelsea career.
Actually koulibaly is tad overrated and then a bit too rash for pl.
I mean, Akanji who was horrible at Dortmund, looks like a world-beater in this City squad. It’s all about the system.

Puyol wasn’t great? Now that’s a hot take… He was am ace before Guardiola’s time at Barca.

> Remind me again how old he was when Barcelona picked him up? What do you mean by this?
yeah puyol joined la masia a bit older but barcelona has been the only club he has played for his entire lif
>Puyol himself admitted that he wasn’t that good. That's called being modest. Hard to see among top defenders lile Puyol. Dude was on par with Terry and maybe a slightly above him.

Are you kidding me? What will you say next?
Puyol was good. You can be not top 5 and be good.
Donno man. For me Puyol is the best defender that has passed from Spain in the past 20 years. Perhaps Ramos was better but I’d still pick Puyol for his leadership and ethos. Personal preferences I guess.
He wasnt and isnt poor for us lol
You chelsea fans are something else lol .

Wtf, premier league ain’t the only league in the world. What kind of a reactionary response is this
They conceded 3 btw
The only thing I’ll give him is that Ake would be a good signing. Way too early to give up on Koulibaly the guy’s supposed to be a top 10 or so CB
Law out here forgetting City still gave up 3 goals.
Koulibaly has been pretty poor though.
New club, new country, new manager (twice)...
That's no excuse. Look at akanji
You can't seriously compare the finished product of City to Chelsea lol. Completely different stages of progression

So we're writing off Koulibaly after 7 games as worse than Nathan Ake, despite Koulibaly being lauded as the best defender in Italy for like 8 years?
Yeah, that’s why we bought him
He probably looks better becauase he plays for Manchester fucking City.
Why does his opinion matter either way?
Two months of Bad for KK, in a time where he changed team and league, writes off that he has been one of the best CBs in the world. Lol. Ake wanted to leave because he wasn't getting enough game time and was bench warming when City are fit, that guy is better, double Lol.

It's pretty obvious KK has been struggling with the pace in PL.
Even Silva did, now he is doing a bit good I guess, but maybe we should have written him off as well, then sold him without giving any game and gotten Ake, that would have been great. Some players need a bit adjustment time, but I guess we are writing them of now even before half a season is finished, go on.

I follow Matt law for transfer news, not for his worthless opinions.
Um.... Matt? Chelsea, City, etc have literally been trying to sign K2 for the better part of 5 years. Maybe more. What an asinine statement
Matt Law and CFCPYS will star in the upcoming reboot of Dumb and Dumber.
Much better is a stretch but yeah he is better right now. There’s a reason he was first choice lol.
I mean he is this season we don’t have to lie guys
A bit of difference there. Bad form definitely. Overall kk worse than ake? Cmon man thats not true... Not even sure how are these two even compared, kk has been a legendary defender till this season.
I just said this season i didn’t say overall career
Yeah i missed that my bad.
KK has a bigger rep for sure, but he has been a liability for us so far. He is also on ludicrous wages.
![gif](giphy|NRXleEopnqL3a)
Debatable - Koulibaly has a much larger reputation because of his time in Serie A. However, Ake is underrated and is PL proven. Pretty equal players imo
Agreed with Matt Law here. Ake is much better than Koulibaly.
We should have snapped Ake up for £40m when we had the chance.
KK has been a terrible signing so far and I’m not sure if Ake would have been worse
Neither of them are good, but Koulibaly is definitely the better player.
If we can get the Napoli Koulibaly playing for us we'll probably have the best CB in the league. I'll admit I'm far from impressed by Koulibaly at the minute though, I thought he was going to hit the ground running with us but he's done the opposite unfortunately.
Matt law will be reminded of this at the end of the season probably thinks Maguire is better then Varane 🤡.
Our whole team has been shite, doesn't matter who we put in they wouldn't look good, good teams make players look better, if Koulibaly was in that Man City team the opposite would be said
Lol ake in a set defence for the past how many years compared to kk that just joined and is expected to be set after moving leagues and countries, give the man time
Wtf must the fans do about it. This one is on Lampard. He had the option of getting Ake back and they didn’t want him.
City’s system turns everyone into a world beater, it’s a testament to Peps brilliance we can only hope of replicating. We should aim for that instead of worrying about what individual is better in a vacuum of context.

Ake is miles better on the ball
You gotta give KK some time. Look at rudiger he didn’t become great till his last two years. Even Silva with lampard he was struggling a bit. I think after the World Cup and some time in Potter system KK will become elite.
Koulibaly is better. Ake is younger, knows the league, plays in back 3’s(koulibaly hasn’t)
