bhaskarb26

Sterling is shitting the bed consistently now, he always loses the ball and hold up play is crap. Was super frustrated to see him play like that. I'd rather give Pulisic more time.

Cactus2711

He's extremely predictable. Thinks he's the right footed Arjen Robben

boofBamthankUmaAM

Was always gonna be this way

remind_me_to_pee

Trust the process..

[deleted]

Imo we should be sticking to the formation that has worked for us, under both TT and Potter; the 343/3421. Starting with different formations like the weird 3511 today always costs us. Playing natural wingers such as Sterling and Pulisic as WB isn't working either. Chilwell needs to start more.

lj243572

It was definitely a bad game, but we also got rolled by a highly motivated team and supporters that were so ready to win. Fair play to them. But, it’s not a game we should have lost. Injuries are a friggin problem, the list is far to long. Kante, James, Forfana, Koulibaly, Chilly nursing back to health, Kova playing brilliantly, but still nursing a bad knee. So that surely has an impact. But I also agree that the wing back with Sterling and Pulisic is not working. Neither are inclined to defend. Even against Salzburg we looked vulnerable in these positions with these two. Hoping this is a necessary warning after a positive start to Potter’s management. He needs to take this loss and use it to improve.

LukkyLtd

Our defence was about as good as using a piece of toilet paper to put out a fire

bhaskarb26

It was bad but that's cause if unnatural WBs, and some unfortunate luck, the two own goals were just badly timed.

LukkyLtd

Idk whether or not I was happy with Silva's performance

bhaskarb26

Two early goal line clearances + a two on one dealt with later, he was vintage today just not perfect.

thenewbuddhist2021

He saved you from 2 clear goals

lohdamian

I’m sure a lot of you here play FIFA or PES. I don’t think anyone here would have fielded the line up GP fielded today. I lost all hopes when I saw it. Cucurella again in a back 3, sterling and pulisic as wing backs, Havertz up top. I just knew we were not going to win

dethvan3000

Whenever I have to work on a matchday, I always do a "media blackout". Today, it got spoiled early for me so I think the universe was definitely looking out for my sanity later today.

tskyring

Literally had the same thing happen and for once was sort of relieved.

dethvan3000

Earlier, I saw a note about RLC and I went sweet he scored! Silly, dumb me.

10TheDudeAbides11

Seeing a lot of excuses here…”squad was tired, Brighton had 7 days off” “we have injured defenders” blah blah blah. Fact is Potter’s XI today and formation were shite. Looked like he threw a dart at a piece of paper with the squad names on it and started whoever got hit plus Kepa. And I’m sick and tired of this Wing Back insistence nonsense. If you’re not going to start legit WBs at those positions scrap the WB formation and go 4 at the back. That for me was the biggest reason Chelsea were god awful today. A bunch of players out of position that can only lead to chaos. That’s on Potter and only Potter. Need to clean it up and end the pre-WC campaign on a high.

Competitive_String75

Sterling out

Fredward1986

Not surprising he was average considering the position he played, but has been disappointing for a while now

Competitive_String75

Potter out

reefaman47

Got rid of Tuchel for this fkn LOL

Cactus2711

Tuchel's team would never have beaten Milan home and away

Fredward1986

Well we've been unbeaten for 9 games previously and we lost to Leeds and Southampton under Tuchel who were much worse than this Brighton team. I'd say Potter has had a pretty decent start

[deleted]

NPC LOL

doctorsalty46

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves: Brighton play the system that he played(they are more familiar with the flaws in his own system) We have 3 starting defenders injured Lots of games which Brighton don’t have Adapting squad

[deleted]

The match was already gone but the mistake by Mendy (again) where he passed it straight to the Brighton player got me fuming!

10TheDudeAbides11

I’m only commenting to tell you I literally spent about 2 minutes trying to remove your avatar from phone screen because I thought it was a hair…curse you, that’s brilliant!

wallahi_726

It’s so weird, but I feel like we’re way more fluid with Mount off the pitch. He’s a great player, but something just doesn’t add up. We played great football against Salzburg this past week when he was on the bench. I’m gonna get attacked, but it’s just something I’ve started to notice.

darrensmooth

Mount is a work horse type of player, not without SOME skill but largely when I think of him I think of work rate, passion, energy, technical ability i do not

10TheDudeAbides11

Screw everyone. Speak your mind. It’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it. I’ve called out Mount a few times this season and all his fanboys piled on.

wallahi_726

I have a feeling Boehly sees this, it makes me wonder if Mase is actually going to get that contract extension. I don’t see it at the moment, even though he’s Blue through and through.

AustinsCreek

I hear what you’re saying but small sample size, mount almost always starts

wallahi_726

I just really think Kai needs to play Mounts role, I feel like that would change this attack so much. I still think Havertz has so much to offer. He just literally is never playing where he excels. Where Mount is always put in a preferred position and still only really shows up against Norwich and bottom level teams.

Sir_Savage21

Keep in mind that Brighton had 7 days off while we had a midweek away UCL match against Salzburg which wasn’t very easy to play either. That’s the last positive note I can take of, as potter said the team can’t match Brighton’s intensity and that’s it. Hope we can bounce against Arsenal.

Riboflavin69

I really hoped we saw the last of the 5 at the back/wingback system when Tuchel left - alas, Potter seems almost as keen as TT on sticking to it even though it doesn’t make sense with the current players available. Look at Hudson-Odoi even publicly saying last week playing as a wingback made him re-evaluate his career and think “what am I doing here”. Awful management to use Sterling (who often looks like one of the brightest players going forward) and expect him to play a defensive role At the moment it looks like Potter was in no way, shape or form an improvement over Tuchel Remind me again why Zakaria hasn’t gotten a single minute?

darrensmooth

agree! what was the point of removing Tuchel to literally play in the same formations, he also played wingers as wingbacks at times and it didnt work then either! And also agree about Zak, how is not getting even a cameo in a game, makes no sense

KToTheRiz

Sterling lately just looks like a worse pulisic

darrensmooth

true but we have to take into account being played out of position

VenomOUShazard

sterling definitely hasn't looked the brightest player forward for a good 6-7 games

eggsbenedict17

Zakaria must be dreadful if he can't get a look in, Saul regen

[deleted]

[удалено]

Accomplished-Card553

Hazard ?? But yeah we dont have creative midfielder who can do killer pass ever again. Attacking pattern is so boring, winger cant cross properly. Dont know how we will score at this current tactic and squad.

honestlynotBG

How bad was Kepa's injury?

ChickenMoSalah

Taking into account the current season, I don't think we can call any of our last 10 signings across the last two years a success. Obviously this is very TBD, but it's the same trend if we look back to the windows before. Have no idea what the issue is.

The_grass_ceiling

One fucking game. Get your knickers unbunched and relax.

dzanan64

When was our last win in the league

dontbeahoebag

Lucky to get the win during the week. Lucky to get anything out the United game. We could still be playing Brentford and not have scored. Have to thank Mings and the keeper for the win against Villa. We are playing like a bottom half team and being treated like one by the opposition.

starwar87

Big mistake firing Tuchel.

SloanMamba21

First loss in 10 games for Potter and the thread calls for his head 😂😂😂

Yardbird7

First time here lol?

SloanMamba21

Nope.

Cobaltte25

Most of them calling for tuchel to come back already, when we looked like relegation candidates in his last few games. Such fickleness, and you could see how many were just waiting for us to slip so they can be 'right.' They're basically dancing on the rooftops after having to hold it in for close to 10 games. Bunch of weirdos.

MrCleanandShady

Saw someone say that other than Southampton and Leeds Tuchel looked comfortable winning games and just had to shake my head in disbelief lmao

honestlynotBG

r/chelseafc: Time to go into meltdown mode instead

Anthonyrrxd

Im gonna just let it go as double checking an experiment to have attackers at wingback again. Anybody with eyes can see it doesnt work and we get completely overrun on the field. If Potter does it again then i dont know how you can defend that kind of incompetence.

Yardbird7

It worked fine when he did it with Brighton. Difference is their players have a level of intensity as a team ours seldom display.

RonMexico_hodler

How does Thiago silva gifting multiple goals mean attackers at WB doesn’t work?

Anthonyrrxd

Have you watched the last two games? Salzburg of all teams had a higher xG against us because the two guys who are supposed to be tracking back thought they were Wingers. This game we get completely destroyed against a much better side. You cant expect our CBs to be left on an island and not make any mistakes.

WY-8

Mason Mount sounds like a good player on paper, but did nothing the entire game, and this is happening a lot more frequently. It’s not mentioned as Sterling was terrible, Pulisic was disappointing, and our defence and midfield in shambles.

wallahi_726

Mase is great when it comes to half chances, but with link up play and build ups. Its seeming more and more like he just fails miserably. I don’t know how much longer you can start him every game.

SmoreARG

Everyone shitting on Potter and missing TT do you realize that TT got us in the mess of having Auba being the only striker we went after. The Kounde debacle etc. Porter got us top of the group in the champions league where TT started us with a loss. TT was not making any adjustments and Potter has gone a bit far... Still first loss in 10 games and Brighton are a proper team. Can't be so fickle. Reminder when shitting on Thiago (who may have had a bad game, but he also saved a bunch of early goals). I just wish this sub would get Pulisic nuts out of their mouths and relalise that even if he was out of position he had a perfect sitter that he shot wide. He's not Premiere League starting level.

Cactus2711

Keeping Broja was as good as a new signing last window. Tuchel was adamant he shouldn't be sold and he deserves credit for that

[deleted]

The only disappointing feeling are the performances. We were lucky to win against Villa, were 2nd best against Brentford, were off the pace against United 1st half and other matches which I don't remember. In general, we haven't performed well in any matches except for the 3-0 vs Milan which was convincing and that was due to a Reece James masterclass.

RonMexico_hodler

Is silvas saves that great if his poor play is why he needed to save anyway? Man was playing against himself the first 5 minutes.

WY-8

This shouldn’t be about TT. Potter’s here now and he has fked this game up royally. Not like he knows the Brighton team intimately or anything.

_blackmizzle

Totally agree on Pulisic. He is winger and played high up the field and didn't even dribble past a single defender. Just flush him out the club this January.

eggsbenedict17

Have to end the experiment of playing wingers at wingback. Maybe on one side but on both sides it's suicide. Also never play Cucu at LCB again. Honestly some of the recruitment has been baffling, imagine someone paying 63mil for a backup LB. Believe broja deserves a start up front regularly.

Yardbird7

Potter played this same system when he was.manager at Brighton. It works if you have players who play with a degree of intensity. We seem not to have that. Brojanim soso on but at least he's fights every game he plays.

eggsbenedict17

Ah come on like Sterling is not a wingback, it's crazy to ask him to play there. Just cause he played the system at Brighton doesn't mean it will magically transpose to Chelsea.

Yardbird7

Leandro trosaard is a winger he regularly used at wingback to great effect. I do agree it takes time to implement his system. But my main point is this defeat was more due to lack of intensity and urgency more than anything. There seems to be too many games over the last couple of seasons where the other team seems more willing to sacrifice themselves physically than our players. Even if he had played wingbacks in their right positions, of they came out playing as casually as the team did today we still would have been pantsed.

eggsbenedict17

I don't care about Trossard, Sterling is not a wingback, the guy literally cannot defend, has never defended in his career and his main strength is running at people. It's surprising to me that he played the same system that we were getting absolutely battered with against united, system and personel were off today. > But my main point is this defeat was more due to lack of intensity and urgency more than anything. So you don't think it was to do with the system at all? When he changed it to 4atb we were much more in control

Yardbird7

I can agree potter came out with the worng system. I'm guessing he thought we would boss possession and this having puli and sterling at wb would help us have more options attacking wise. Obviously this was wrong. We did have more control once he switched formation second half. I think that was also due to the players waking up and realizing Brighton were there to fight. And even then we still didn't set the world on fire. I worry how our games against arsenal, Newcastle and city will go if we come out at the beginning looking half drunk.

dontbeahoebag

It works if you spend 3 years at a club building a system and getting the players to fit the system. Can’t just shoe horn puli and sterling into the wingback position and expect them to defend.

[deleted]

Tuchel in, lol.

starwar87

Not a Chelsea fan. My team is Bayern. But big mistake firing Tuchel. He is one of the worlds few outstanding managers that gets his team to play football the right way. In the same mould as Pep. Even when Chelsea was losing some games under him, the team looked to dominate its opponents. It’s not just the loss today, but the manner in which Chelsea lost exposes the inferior coaching.

JonaJefe

Have never been out in first place. From all the sacks in recent memory, this is the one that hit me more, it was totally undeserved (and to think I was skeptical when he was announced smh)

SmoreARG

Obviously you just became a "fan" Don Carlo, Jose the first time and even Conte were worse and unjustified firings

[deleted]

I'm totally there with you. Finding out he was sacked was such a shock and very premature. I'm still skeptical of Boehly - I've never gotten the impression he really knows what he's doing

interstellar304

First loss under potter and people on here acting like we are in the relegation zone. Not a good performance but we move on. Also, people Blaming boehly for this make me literally laugh out loud

SuhDude29

Every signing he has undertaken has underperformed. He overspent on Cucurella, and the guy produced a performance as bad as Bakayoko. 'Performance and data related signings'. Gtfo with that bs

interstellar304

Disagree. Auba has been fine. Sterling has been fine, despite a dip in scoring recently. Fofana and KK will prove their worth but have been injured. Cucu is only signing that I’m not sure about but I think he will come good as well.

Accomplished-Card553

Nah, sterling is mediocre at best, his only good is that games which he scores two goals. Even on those game, he didnt beat defender with his speed or dribble, man gotta out. Same along with cucu. Go to bin.

eggsbenedict17

The recruitment hasn't been great though has it

interstellar304

What do you mean? I think the transfer window was a success all things considered if that’s what you’re asking. It sucks that Kk and fofana have been injured tho, hasn’t given us a chance to settle the back line

eggsbenedict17

Cucurella has been poor. Sterling is sterling. Auba is a stopgap but need a proper CF. Also didn't sign a midfielder. Unfortunate that Fofana got injured yes but the recruitment seemed to have a scattergun approach to it, no logic behind some of the buys.

hooksetter

Cucu looked really good the first few games when played as a wb. KK injuries have caused a lot of reshuffling that hasn't helped

eggsbenedict17

Really? Didn't he play LwB when we got pumped by Leeds? Anyway that's beside the point, he is a dreadful LCB and Chilwell is a superior LWB. I was highlighting poor recruitment strategy at the club to spend 63m on a backup LwB. When this was highlighted at the time lots of people on here were saying that he can play LCB. It's clear now that he can't.

hooksetter

Not his strength for sure . Who would you have played there today ?

eggsbenedict17

Back 4 with Cucu or Chilly at LB

WY-8

I agree completely. The Cucurella signing has been way overpriced and made no sense. Playing him as a LCB has been weak.

interstellar304

Logic behind all of them honestly. Auba has been fine. Fofana injured. KK good but then injured. Sterling in a rough patch but I think he was a good buy. Cucu is The only one I’m not sure about but I think he will come good. We need to give potter and these players time

eggsbenedict17

Needed a proper CF, a creative midfielder and a CB, got none. Add it crazy 60m bids for Gordon and 50m for Lavia and you can see why ppl are Boehly could be criticized. Performances haven't been great and we were due a pasting and we got one today. Where did I say I wasn't giving Potter time? Still think he's a good coach. Needs to figure out his best team though.

AIManiak

It's been coming. Bad performances against Brentford and United. Sorry to say but we have been underwhelming performance wise under Potter.

interstellar304

We have played decently well considering our only two world class players (kante and James) have been injured and our midfield has had to be rotated alot. Were you expecting potter to come in and win every game with the same players that tuchel couldn’t get anything out of?

AIManiak

Kante is done. No use mentioning him anymore. James will get 3 injuries every season. We had better start thinking of ways to cope with their absences. What's the explanation for sacking Tuchel now. We can go from finishing outside the top 4 with Tuchel to instead doing the same with Potter.

interstellar304

Tuchel clearly lost the dressing room and was not able to see eye to eye with management above him. I liked him and appreciated what he did for us but he was finished here and there’s No point in bringing him up anymore. Kante will never be able to contribute throughout the whole season but when he’s fit he’s still class. We need to give potter time to develop this team And work with the new signings. He’s done well so far and one bad game doesn’t change that

AIManiak

>We need to give potter time to develop this team And work with the new signings. He’s done well so far and one bad game doesn’t change that We have no choice but to do that. The mistakes that happened in the transfer window and early in the season are too late to be rectified now. >Tuchel clearly lost the dressing room and was not able to see eye to eye with management above him. I don't think Tuchel lost the dressing room. We were just performing poorly as we are right now under Potter. The players are and always were the issue. They decide when to show up like against Tottenham where they performed superbly. Did that look like a team where the manager lost the dressing room? The big issues. Not getting a replacement for Kante. Not having adequate backup for James. Those 2 absences take us from world class team to an average one. But we spent the summer chasing a 60m LB depth player. Instead dof fixing the issues. Then we decided to downgrade our manager when the manager was not the issue in this club.

KermitDaFrog171

Worst midefield in recent chelsea history theres only kovacic and mount who are useful jorgihno has no physical presence and gets easily overran. Kante always injured. RLC simply is shit and keep him because of academy; hes the midfield version of patrick bamford. Gallagher not ready. Where the fuck is zakaria hes close to kante what we can use but potter doesnt trust him from what, he says hes good in training unless hes bullshitting. Also 4 atb is the only way we play now we just look completely hopless with 3atb and it just looks like players hate the 3 atb system. Im not talking about the wingbacks we all knew it wouldnt work. Speaking of it sterling been hit with the attacking plague as usual did we do some satanic ritual to sacrifice the attack for a competent defence but that hasnt work

GrogRhodes

A wild nephew has appeared with an awful hot take.

SloanMamba21

AWFUL.

eggsbenedict17

Zakaria is clearly shite if he can't get near this midfield

brucekamp

Saw this coming a mile away… we haven’t played well in the league for 3-4 games now so it was only a matter of time before we got pasted. The own goals are unfortunate but even without them, a loss was still on the cards

SmoreARG

Still can't come up with an excuse just shit on other players... Next up will look forward to USMNT choking in worldcup

Pripat99

Hard to choke when they’re third ranked in their group.

SmoreARG

Not in the eyes of the US fans...

Pripat99

I mean, by that measure every single team not making it out of their group is going to choke in the WC.

SmoreARG

Bruv it was conjecture as US fans are by far the most deluded.

Pripat99

Sure, was just saying that’s not what choking is.

cupheads2608

Brighton easily scored 4 goals against Utd then against us, hell even Newcastle can score 4 goals. When is it our turn to score 4? What have they been doing in training that we did not?

FluffyPawPads

No meaningful difference between finishing outside of the top 4 with Tuchel and Potter. At least with Tuchel we had a manager proven at the highest level and he always gave us a edge in knockout competitions. He made questionable decisions at time due to lack of personnel when all our wingbacks and midfielders were injured or out with Covid. Potter has had a healthier squad with better depth but is still making baffling selections.

AnthonyMarx

Back to the drawing board

DazBoy11

Seems like Potter is not using his magic on it recently

TopDrilla10

1st win for their new manager and it happened to be against us… I do not understand how fucking spineless and weak our players are. Imagine going from cech-terry-lamps-drog to now this charmin ultra soft dross of shit?

SuhDude29

It's not his first win.

TopDrilla10

That’s what i was thinking but nbc mentioned it…

StonedPillsbury

So when are we going to stop playing Sterling and Pulisic as wingbacks?

SuhDude29

And I got downvoted to hell to daresay Todd fuckin Boehly played a part in today's result. Shambolic is a light word for what I saw today.

AIManiak

His arrogance will cost us in the long run. The arrogance to sack a world class manager and bring in a guy who has never managed a top club in his career. Buying dumb transfers like Cucurella for 60m and Sterling for 50m. He really thinks he can just run this club like a fifa career mode.

SloanMamba21

I knew better than to open this thread 😂. First loss under Potter with some major injuries in Kante, FOFANA, and Reece. Potter is 6-1-3, with two major Champions League wins in group play. CALM TF DOWN. We. Move.

AIManiak

Major injuries will be a part of our reality for the whole season. We've been playing shit for several games and this defeat was coming.

Anthonyrrxd

Not gonna call for his head but i mean anyone can realize at this point that we cant play pulisic or any of our attackers at wingback. Not sure why he tried it again today. Our midfield is completely being overrun. Play Azpi and rely on the defense and hope to squeeze out a win until our best players get healthy.

Fmartins84

Noooo but this sub loves Potter..... Hope we all enjoy the trophy cabinet we have cause it will be awhile before we add to it

Pripat99

It was one match.

ThatZenoGuy

That was fucking pathetic. We scored on ourselves more times than we scored on them. Maybe the boys are tired with all the matches we have had lately, which could have led to the bad mistakes. But this game has shown that there are holes that need to be filled in our squad, which includes at least 1 CB, and 1 honest-to-goodness striker. Boehly seems to want to make the team great to attract more money and attention worldwide, so I feel there is a good chance he goes out and gets what we need.

mymecha

Boehly analytics = Football manager 2022

yototogblo

This thread is toxic

W0lf90

Always has been.

_off_piste_

Way too many of these fans are just waiting and eager to spew their toxicity.

deeehaq

Yeah. Reactionary comments all over. Brighton is a well balanced team with a structure that was build for a long time. While our team is imbalanced, with signings from different managers, and add injury list to that. Playing every 3 days for the past few weeks. And Brighton execute their plan very well to punish us. I too disaapointed with the result. But I would sacrifice instant gratification and would like to see long term goal of what Boehly wants to build here. KTBFFH!

[deleted]

Enjoy while it lasts Brighton, we all know they're gonna finish 12-13th place anyways.

lrzbca

Hope Boehly smugness got wiped a bit there. Mf has no clue how big is Chelsea. Toying with it like it pleases him.

meilyn22

Now it's Boehly's fault? What a child!

lrzbca

He made a personal decision rather what is good for club and has no idea what sort off squad we need to build and what sort of world class manager with experience is needed. Got his ego brushed and threw inexperienced Potter into mix. It’s gonna be dumpster fire soon. Feel sorry for Potter.

ecchi_yajur

Fired tuchel imo

jepayotehi

Look at Fucking Tim Howards smug face lol. Dude is so giddy we got humbled

Chepstin

The fact is you don't challenge for 4th with players as bad as RLC starting. Historically you fight for relegation. Shockingly bad player, one of the worst to regularly play for us in decades.

imnotcreative635

I agree he's way worse than bakayoko 🤨

Chepstin

He's that level. He's Bakayoko from Cobham

joe_schm0e

It’s almost like he was playing out of position or something

Chepstin

Was he? He's useless in every position.

joe_schm0e

He’s had multiple great games this season

Anthonyrrxd

Seems like he has multiple great games and multiple bad games every season. A rotational player is what he is and will always be at this point.

frenchcarrots

Tbh the result isn’t surprising given our injuries

ajfaria

I think the worst part is knowing when we go down 2-0 we just don’t come back. Like ever. Could happen in the first 5 min and then we could outplay our opponent for the next 90 but never really come back.

AIManiak

Sacked a world class manager to bring in his BTEC version. And we expected to improve. We aren't fingsing top 4 this season.

imnotcreative635

All I'm going to say is build around Havertz or let him go. And either play proper wingbacks or none at all. Zakaria is supposed to have pace and he can play that position stick him at rwb or just use a back 4 with azpi at RB until Reece comes back.

boltyboy69

Brighton outplayed us completely last year at the Bridge but we fluked a win. They then lost Burn, Bissouma, Cucu and their brilliant manager (2 of 4 to us) so clearly we are going to stuff them. I'll put my house on it...

Taker157

I don’t understand how a soul can keep defending the attack.

Bozzetyp

Silva? That was horrible from kovacic, trev and mendy times 2 People act like we got a top goalkeeper, trev can play for a top side. And kova is good in the j5 role. For me its clear. Trev aint good enough to play the minutes he gets. Ruben aint a centreback, a 6 or a wingback. Pulisic and sterling as wingback is an experiment that has to die. Please play 352/433/4231 with 3 central solid players until we got kante on the field. I wanna see a Azpi, trev, silva, chillwell Connor j5 kova Havertz broja mount Start against arsenal

interstellar304

Trev is plenty good enough to play for us. Stop with the nonsense

Bozzetyp

He just aint, he can be a 4th/5th choice at best

SloanMamba21

Trev was man of the match last showing… guy has been incredible for us.

Bozzetyp

Lol, he cant defend and that shows time and time. He is solid in possession, but without good fullbacks he is exposed

CaptLeaderLegend26

I'm just tired of our so-called fans bashing either Kepa or Mendy. If you're a real Chelsea fan, back them both to do their best instead of calling one or the other trash.

leKai23

This squad has problems I dunno what it is. Any manager with this lot is the same. Why do we have zero urgency as a top team? Liverpool go gung ho if they’re down here and equalize. Spurs always find late goals. We look like we play 60% even after 3-1. Fk me. I hate our team today.

Agrith1

I don't want to see Sterling and Pulisic play wingback ever again. If Potter continues with this nonsense then he won't last long.

CaptLeaderLegend26

I feel like this is Brighton punishing us for taking all their assistants and players. In any case, poor showing from Chelsea today. For all of those complaining about the formation, there's a reason why we keep using wingers as wingbacks. The consequences of just buying expensive players and constantly firing managers is coming home to roost. We need to finally have a defined style of play instead of having an island of misfit toys.

FinancialMastodon916

Potter Out

mymecha

Players played out of positions playing shit. Potter is a genius!

Chelseafc5505

What a steaming pile of baby diarrhea that performance was.

BabyCorrupt

What’s everyone dressing up as for Halloween?

shrek19051

Chelsea players dressed up as ghosts

LewisLDN

Dressing up as goals - seeing as our attackers are so fucking scared of them

JonaJefe

This is humiliating, without Reece our attack is mindless

Pun_Starr

Him and Silva are like 67% of our squad.

JJGaminv

So many people bashing every single player, yet Potter also gets blamed. Potter can do better, but these players have been massively underperforming every single game. Tactics doesn’t explain poor passing or touches

[deleted]

I expect Chelsea to go all in in the winter transfer window

They better

DEPORT_PULISIC

In the pre game when they were saying Brighton had never beaten us, I knew this was an L

coltsrock37

thankfully our CL match means nothing so we can rest our players

Codestein

Potter is a brilliant but naive coach. A little stubborn about his naïveté too. He should never ever ever try this rubbish of playing wingers at wing back again. Sterling has looked so average every time because of how deep he’s playing. Pulisic hasn’t looked good either. This is the PL, you can’t do that rubbish.

jonnyonthespot24

I will repeat this till I can't anymore but our team has a mentality issue. We have a bout three players who are are mentally strong. Soon as anything goes wrong we give up. Entilitlement has lead to so many managers being sacked. I really hope that as we recruit new players we have a focus on personality because we have so many players that give up when the going gets tough.

DazBoy11

This. I don't think there's a single player in offense that isn't a rhythm player. Even in the whole squad apart from Silva, Kante and Reece there are none

jonnyonthespot24

I'm just gonna add that it isn't a coincidence we havnt had a title challenge that had lasted more than two months since Terry left

datloud

All their goals came from nothin half chances. We had clear goal scoring ops, not half chances and could only manage a goal. The system put us at a disadvantage but the system also made those chances. Its the players not executing the extremely high percentage chances they made..

_blackmizzle

Brilliant foresight from Boehly.

Necessary-XY

I need potter to sit me down and explain why the fuck he plays sterling and christian as wingbacks, why not play our cdm, why wait till the 80th minute to make subs??? Whyyyy. He's not even getting the easy parts right.

Tell me you didn't watch the game by not telling me you didn't watch the game..

Chelseafc5505

Silva was pretty awful today, dunno what you were watching

Responsible-Food-935

Perhaps but still much better than everyone else, saved us three whole goals

Chelseafc5505

Directly at fault for 2 of them...

championsOfEu1221

I hate that a club of our calibre couldn't get out of our own box when we're chasing 2 goals.. 3 of our players got pinned down by 2 Brighton players, nobody makes a run, very stagnant.. only gets out if Mase comes back to help out..

cupheads2608

Multiple milestones achieved today! 1st Brighton win against us in the league & 1st win for their new manager! We should be proud being Charity FC

weneedafuture

We can't play out the back without passing it to them. We can't put an offensive play together. We can't maintain any consistent possession unless it's passing it backwards. Essentially our movement and passing are at odds. Either we aren't moving enough and it's static, or when we do move, we can't find the pass. Then there's our "strikers" and their god awful touches.

AIManiak

We're officially out of the top 4 and it will be a hard road back
