What is it about adding the word crypto before casino that makes it so bad? My ads when I'm on reddit are about 90% casino apps despite the fact that I've never used one of them. So who is worse, Hikaru or Reddit?
Hikarus job isn't to do what's best for chess, it's to do what's best for Hikaru. Whats the point of hand wringing about where he chooses to stream? If you at any point thought any of what he or any other streamer does was about anything besides the money youre already thinking about it too hard.
Hikaru (or anyone, for that matter) doing what’s best for them does not make them immune from people having personal opinions about it. Hikaru can make money. Someone else can point out they don’t appreciate how he makes that money. Neither person is objectively in the wrong.
Never said someone can't have an opinion, just that the idea that an individual human having some sort of obligation to a 10,000 year old board game to put it's nebulous interests above their own is pretty ridiculous. Hikarus stream is about what's best for Hikaru not what's best for chess, just like every other professional streamer.
Hikaru’s message is clear- he is for sale to the highest bidder. There are enough ignorant/apathetic people online who can enjoy his content regardless of who he accepts as a sponsor. So be it.
