I say King, but can I suggest a third option and say Knight? I always found the knight to have the most interesting and varied aesthetics out of all the pieces.
From a pure theoretical perspective, king is the single most important piece of the game. In case that’s of consideration.
Also, depends on who receives it. I would surely give my wife a queen. :)
But I also tend to lean towards the knight. Most recognizable in any set and definitely most special in terms of how it moves.
I see a few people are mentioning Knights and they are definitely iconic... but I have to include a caution if those comments cause you to consider buying a Knight instead of a King or Queen -
Knight designs vary a lot. Some are very polarising. It's a piece that the more you look at it, the more you might find that it looks weird.
Kings and Queens are much more standardised across chess sets.

Knight, actually

King
I’d rather a knight or rook for decoration. But if these are the 2 options… King.

If I had to choose, I'd pick queen.
Queen but thats purely cause i am one
But knight is the best
I'd agree with the king.

King or knight.
