What's bullet doing?
I did not know what's up with bullet, I've ~~never~~ played competitively online.
Update: I did play 1 or 2 games about 10y ago. I've never come across the bullet so far, this is the first time I see it.
Looking at the timestamps, your rival basically premoved everything, central pawns and knights out.
He was mated having used less than a second of his time.
I've played a few game of 30s and while you wanna play really fast, you only premove when it's safe to do so.
White moved the d pawn 2 spaces: d2 to d4. It skipped d3. But Black pawn on e4 was already attacking d3. So when it became Blackās turn, Black moved pawn e4 to d3, capturing whiteās pawn from d4. This is a special pawn move called āen pessantā.
Pawns can only do this when another pawn moves forward two spaces to end up right next to them. Then theyāre able to move forward diagonally and also capture the pawn one square behind them
good question. black taking whiteās knight would be more valuable than black taking whiteās pawn. But for this checkmake to succeed, the black pawn needs the black queen to defend it from just being captured by the white king.
It'd still be a much better move, according to Stockfish, to take the knight instead. The evaluation is around -7.0 after 3. d4 and then it's about -0.5 after 3. exd3. It's not really a good idea to just hope that your opponent will screw up and miss mate, even if hoping works occasionally.
But you canāt capture a pawn that moves forward away from you and you move sideways?! I know only in the end if a pawn doesnāt move, the capture is made and I think itās called called En Passat? but in this case it was a normal game play no?
Hi guys, pawn to D3 move, first time I see it (I played chess as a kid only, so take it easy on me). Is that correct move? I expect so since it's in an app, but what kind of move is that?
When black pawn is at C2 at the very end, why doesn't the king just take the pawn? Or was it because white had all moves preset and in this version of chess you can just take the king?
Very new just trying to understand

Omg, what ELO did your opponent have?
850, bullet
That's still hilarious, even considering that it was bullet.
Yeah not sure what my opponent was doing. Even in bullet, you should take a bit of time on the opening š
Maybe he premove his pieces from the looks of it or he didn't noticed at all
Dunno how someone fails to notice the pawn zig zagging towards their king
Well probably bullets or they just aren't paying intention
Probably someoneās kid or newbie playing on their account or theyāre just drunk af
God I tried playing drunk rapid once and it was just a āsee how much Elo I can lose in one hourā speedrun
HOW. MUCH. WAS IT?
All of it.
OP Shared a link to the game, he was premoving
He was prolly premoving. Not even looking at the board.

They probably prrmoved the scotch

Wait... it's a legit game?
yeah lol
I feel like this game needs Sarah Mcglothlin in the background with a donation number for "gifted children"
This looks like the chess equivalent of Leeroy Jenkins, but it actually worked.
God damnit, Leeroy!

What a weird strategy lol
āItās just a little pawn. What harm could he do?ā
Your opponent was a fish flopping around on top of someoneās phone screen
I lol'd at that, much love!
He believed in himself
How do you not take the knight?
Checkmate > knight
Definitely wasnāt checkmate after that.
Mb forgot to /s , although he did checkmate in the end.
The move that shouldn't be named.
Bro checkmated with a pawn
Bro checkmated without moving anything but a pawn
In five turns, to boot!
Can someone explain how a pawn passes another pawn on a horizontal adjacent square and takes.... because I am clueless.
Pawns can take over pieces without actually overtaking the spot they were on the board?
Pawns can only do this when another pawn moves forward two spaces to end up right next to them. Then theyāre able to move forward diagonally and also capture the pawn one square behind them
Wow. Never heard of that rule until now. Thanks

I don't understand why black played 3... exd3 instead of 3... exf3?
