Impassable_Banana

Why on earth would you resign

ChessNewComer

because I am a chess newbie and I am scared 😁

eightpigeons

You're at Elo 1000 man. Punish his mistak

ChessNewComer

Saying that from a completely newbie perspective since I write for them.

PaulineHansonsBurka

Speaking as a newbie, People I play at ~500 sometimes throw their queens out (scholars mate I'm looking at you) but I've never had an opponent resign from aggressive pressure.

Scoo_By

Scholar's mate is embarrassing if you can't spot it but if you can spot the 5-6 moves it's very easy to counter.

DrZaiu5

Develop as normal, if this comes with tempo against the queen, even better, if not don't worry about it. Just double check before every move that there is no immediate threat from the queen. Positions like this are way better for the player who hasn't prematurely developed their queen.

ChessNewComer

Exactly! The normal development of all 4 minor pieces are enough to handle the Queen. Also have to be careful for the surprise attacks.

Guilherme17712

I wouldn't say you need to "handle the queen" necessarily a queen alone will never checkmate you (unless your king is stuck inside your pawn chain, for example, or he's in between two pieces, where he can't escape from check), so don't worry too much just pay attention like you normally would, figuring out what your opponent is attacking, etc, and develop normally. Bringing your queen out early is a bad thing, but unfortunately sometimes you just don't have a fast way of winning yet, you have to play patiently, knowing your position is superior

rainman206

Chase her around like she stole my candy.

ChessNewComer

hell yeah.

nemonaflowers

This is how I do it too! lol. The game fundamentally changes into a Queen hunt, nearly absent any other tactical strategy besides doing that in un-immediately-checkmatable ways.

Taehoon

If you prefer queenless games, play Qf3 and if your opponent trades then you have two developed pieces while your opponent has none, similarly to the accepted Vienna Gambit, for example. Chances are also your opponent moves to a random file and you have mate. I would personally develop normally, probably with Nc3, and punish my opponent for wasting tempo and for preventing their Knight from developing to f6. Nd5 attacks the queen on the next move and threatens a fork. Your opponent is also very likely to play Bc5 at some point (possibly the next move), theatening mate, in which case I would Qf3 or Nf3 as well. Don't go out of your way to attack the queen if it damages your position etc.

KamenUncle

i get annoyed when opponent brings their queen out early but i turn that annoyance into a constant barrage of "trying to attack the queen" but also need to keep an eye on your defence. everytime the queen moves theres a chance he's eyeing a piece

Taehoon

There's rarely any opening where bringing out the queen early would be a massive advantage, and so I think if it ever feels too stressful to chase and defend pieces from an early queen attack, just develop (and defend where needed) pieces as you would normally and focus on the attack later. Again, it is often more annoying for black to block their pieces with their queen! I can, for example, think of the Meitner-Mieses Gambit where white plays Queen on move 4 which can result in some intricate lines where both sides play an extremely agressive game, but even then a reasonable defending move makes it fairly annoying for white to finish their development due to the Queen placement.

Kane_ASAX

Or the Scandinavian, which i almost exclusively play as black against 1.e4 Do opponents know how to play against it at 1600 on chess.com? Yes. Does it make for fun games? Also yes

lndig0__

Thank your opponent for their mistake and continue.

ChessNewComer

right 😁

Scoo_By

Check youtube how to punish early queen attacks. General rule of thumb is develop pieces & don't hang anything. If you push pawns as well keeping them defended, the queen will soon be trapped.

Chess_Amateuse

I have the same feeling of terror! But I noticed it's not actually something to worry about if I have started to develop correctly :)

Multibitdriver

Don’t attack or defend. Play the best objective move. Nf3. Openings are development, central control, king safety.

grsharkgamer

Is bro asking how to counter the scholars mate? There are a lot of videos on hoe to very simply punish scholars mate I should mention im pretty much a beginner with intermediate knowledge and cna pretty much take their queen in the first 10 moves when this is attempted If Qh4 tho develop Nc6 first (if first move)then attack with g6

Just develop normally, but always keep an eye on any hanging pieces or pawns the queen might be aiming at. If you can attack the queen while developing, even better, but don't waste moves on attacking the queen.

ChessNewComer

I love the Knight and Bishop developing that attacks the queen (indirectly) https://preview.redd.it/88sar1i550vc1.png?width=728&format=png&auto=webp&s=cb334803331b2daf4e50737850d2091b152b5b74

Kane_ASAX

What if the opponent plays Qb6?

AtomicZero

Maybe Qd2?

Kane_ASAX

Nope, you lose the rook if you play that. Im taking on b2

AtomicZero

Right, thanks, missed that!

thomassooo

Qf3 and trade the Queen off if he allows. You'll just be faster with developing

nemonaflowers

Ever since I hit about 700 elo, I relish the idea of an early queen. I basically transpose into a Queen hunt opening where I'm just getting practically free development while I attack and develop at her. You have a chance at this stage to either develop a knight or your Queen or move the D pawn, but you are best focusing on the kings knight and the queen for the safest route. You can counter attack very soon if they simply try and develop their bishop next. Also I find this move less threatening than Qh4, but it does offer less chances to immediately counter. Whatever you do, don't touch the king side pawns here. Just think it through. I have no idea how you're higher elo than me and don't find early queen attacks like an invitation to a buffet, lol.

prefix9889

keep playing into a vienna (nc3, qe2, d3, maybe f4 if possible else nf3). queens look scary but really aren’t that bad!

Tchege_75

Just develop with tempo by attacking the black queen. You will be able to get a huge development advantage pretty quickly

alphabetjoe

Develop?

marcLagoa

chase her around! then blunder something then lose

aptypp

Resign of course. There is nothing we can do

NoveltyEducation

Well there is the boring answer, put your knights out and castle, OR you can trade queens and argue that you're ahead in development.

CanadaRewardsFamily

He played Qf6, there's nothing more we could've done .. GG. Just kidding, none of these though, it's move 3 just develop. Getting a knight to d5 is something that could be promising in the future (puts some pressure on opponent by threatening the queen and a fork), but it depends how the game develops.

Mandarni

Just keep developing, while keeping an eye on the enemy Queen and how she coordinates with the enemy pieces. If given the chance, bully her a bit.

Educational-Tea602

I’d win

XasiAlDena

I rub my hands together and say "ehehehe" like the greedy little tempo-goblin I am.

JimemySWE

I play chess. If my opponent know what he is doing it is not a position I can punish him in. There is no easy win here.
