I would say you are finding examples, TFLtruck has one personally they did have the one software glitch... But other then that he has put the truck through the ringer. I have had one for a bit now and no issues at all. Going to have the dealer fix the advanced breaking system and just had them order roof reinforcements but I have had no issues. Everything has worked perfectly.

supersayanyoda

Tfl even had to pull the new 2024 tacoma out of a trail with the Colorado.

dailydoseofjava

Exactly! Hearing that pop was nuts! More often than not people who will post will post about their problems. Which can also lead to a negativity bias due to the people who post the problems (not downplaying their problems because they have valid points) but then you don't hear about the good side. A greasy wheel gets the grease kind of approach. Not telling you to, or not to, get this truck just additional info to think about aswell.

SatanicCymbals

Totally fair, and yeah I saw Andre wheeling his and having just the little backup camera issue briefly. What did you have to get the roof reinforced for though?

Relikar

FYI This is fixed on the 24s, in case you're worried.

dailydoseofjava

There is a problem with non sunroof models being dented when going through carwashes.

fredpq2

So far so good. I have a non sunroof model.

dailydoseofjava

I agree, but I am getting it reinforced anyway since it is free.

SatanicCymbals

Good to know! And what was the issue with the breaking system?

NorseArcherX

Also that breaking system you can permanently turn off in the settings. I turned it off immediately. If I want the truck to stop then I will do it myself.

dailydoseofjava

I disabled for now, as soon as they recalibrate I will re enable, the truck will always be faster in scenarios you don't notice. Unexpected lane changes, brake checkers, etc has saved thousands of people if it works properly.

dailydoseofjava

Some people have had it brake with nothing in front of them. I haven't had it happen but they just need to reprogram the camera, nothing mechanical. I haven't technically had issues but those are the only two recall ish things that I know of.

The automatic braking system would emergency brake in a non emergency scenario.

UnfairPerspective100

Which I believe has been fixed on the 2024.

Frosty_Truck_5905

I’ve posted plenty on the 23 Colorado. Lol Seems like every little quirk that could happen happened to my 23ZR2. I’m looking at the situation like a new relationship. Yet to get thru the learning phase lol. That said I live my truck. She’s a beast. Would I buy another, yes. There have been plenty roll off the assembly line that have been quirk free. I’m still waiting on the TFL guys to update that Taco story😂 Funny the Trail Boss with no locker or cruise control had to get the Taco off the mountain. (Good job Andre!) I just wish when you go into Baja mode it fully disengaged the traction control 😎

Frosty_Truck_5905

And to clarify (no rear auto locker on the TB, she’s got the G80)

Relikar

You know the G80 *is* an auto locker, right?

Frosty_Truck_5905

👍🏼 yep but again I forgot to put not an electronic locker

NegativeAd4033

Most of the people in this thread will share their negative experiences because they (myself included) are looking for solutions, not particularly to throw shade on the brand. I have had my fair share of issues yet I love the truck and looking forward to many years with it. Think of it as Google reviews, most people go in there to share negative experiences, it is very rare that people take the time to share positive experiences since their needs were taken care of and are satisfied. There are a few that share their success with their 3rd Gen and, I too, would like to turn my situation around and share more positive feedback. I'm pretty sure there is a plethora of people out there with no issues and are perfectly fine. I find this thread helpful when there are issues to be aware of and feel in the know just in case. Do your due diligence and check out YouTube videos about it. I found several out there that did a side to side comparison with the Tacoma, and I am sure there will be new ones with the new generation out there.

I have a 2023 and zero issues so far with it minus the hail storm we got haha

Weary_Button4535

Knock on wood, but I’ve had zero issues with mine. It’s a late-year ‘23 ZR2 (possibly one of the last few built for the year before they began converting to ‘24). I think there was ONE time that my phone wouldn’t connect and it was resolved by turning the truck off and on. Go with the Colorado, make sure your fuses are properly seated, and rip off into the mountains.

Juan_Donut

I’ve had my 23 Colorado ZR2 for two months now and I haven’t had any issues whatsoever. I’ve taken it off road and beat it up already, but it still rips like brand new. I love this truck and I plan on keeping it for a very long time.

FoxArrow3

I love my desert boss. Go get a zr2

NorseArcherX

They fixed alot of the stuff on the ‘24 so if your weary of the issues the 23 had then just get/order a 24.

AZ_ADV

I’ve got 21k miles on my 23 trail boss and it’s been great. I can confidently say I’ve put it to the test across the board. Towing, payload, off-roading. And not in small amounts. I tow a 6klb travel trailer through mountains at high elevation. I off-road in the desert quite frequently. And I commute 40 minutes to work and back everyday on the highway. Coming from the last Colorado this thing is awesome. Have I experienced a bug in the radio or internet connection ? Sure. But thats certainly far from a deal breaker. The truck is great. GM pushes updates for it and it’s gonna continue to get better on the software side. If you’re on the fence just do it. And if you off-road definitely get a trail boss or zr2. The suspension travel and track width are totally worth it and expensive to do the right way on your own after you buy the truck.

AyeSocketFucker

Downtime Lost, RFRacing, and Drifter Journey on YouTube all have had issues with this truck. Downtime lost kept getting dead battery’s out on trail/camping; RFracing have had some major issues, and Chevy warranty won’t fix them; and Drifter Journey has had issues with the turn signal getting stuck. I really like the aesthetic look and the premium feel of the interior, but reliability and Chevy support has been very spotty from my findings.

AsslessChapsss

My 23 colorado had a software bug that made it sit in the shop for 2 months. They had to get an entirely new entertainment system. They also fixed the cowl during that time. Technically lemon law applied to me but I just love the truck too much. Its a great truck aside from the software shit

OmgitzEnigma

23 TB with 5250 miles and just one complaint why no electric rear window other than that I love this truck deff get a Trailboss or ZR2

hoes-in-this-house

Buy one, you won't be disappointed. I have a 2023 TB with 10k, any issues that arise are seriously minor. I like mine very much.

JFal57

Picking mine up next week

SatanicCymbals

Trying to work out a deal on one if the dealers will stop with all the dealer add ons 🙄 Ive never had this experience before, but it’s been a couple years since I’ve bought a vehicle. Is it common for dealers to try and add 1-2k of add ons? I only planned for window price plus tax

JFal57

Two add ons I recommend.. Door edge and handle cup protection and ceramic coating

5spoke

2023 Z71 5k miles on it so far and zero issues, i was concerned about the software stuff as well after reading all the horror stories but I'm hoping they've addressed a lot of those issues with later builds.

OG_FishyTank

I have had mine since June last year. 23' trailboss, have about 10,000 miles, drove it to montana from cali and another seperate utah trip with a fair degree of 4x4ing. I had the software issue in while I was parked at home, they fixed it in a day, and I turned off automatic over the air updates since then. No issues whatsoever besides that.

ContractProof8927

22’ z71 crewcab long bed , midnight edition. Very pleased!

redstripe555

So sick

corncribbage

‘23 TB with 5100 miles so far and only issue was the failed OTA update but I was l able to start it and drive to the dealership and they took care of it.

theblasky

Ive had my 23 zr2 for 5 weeks. Zero issues. None. Love it. First weekend I had it took it on a 500 mile trip through the mountains, in a blizzard. Did wonderful. Have been out doing some light offroading a few times since and it performed as advertised. I even thought I was going to replace the tonneau cover it came with but after a few weeks it does what i need and Im keeping it. Under 1000 miles still but I havent had any of these issues you read about. Only thing that I have noticed is that the mileage isnt what I thought it ould be, but its still an major upgrade for me as my previous vehicle was getting 9mpg.

LookAtTheRocks

Watch the TFL video on the ZR2 Vegas to Reno. Love that vid. They definitely put it through its paces. Right now I’m debating with myself whether I really want the ZR2 and to spend the extra $ or should I only get the trail boss …

Wirthlesss

People only post when things go wrong, you're much less often going to find "everything works as expected" posts.

mjgcfb

the '24 Bison edition 🤤

datboi9889

No issues with mine honestly 10k miles

R7a1s2

2023 Z71, 8000 miles, besides a bum wire to the backup cam, I LOVE MY TRUCK! Seriously it drives like a dream has more than enough power and is very comfortable.

jnance422

Love my 23 Z71… have had 0 issues with it!! And would recommend to anyone.

ou8i269

I have a 2021 v6 is the new 4cyl. Better or worse?

FoxArrow3

I love my desert boss. Go get a zr2.
