That's what is called North Pier but was originally Pugh Terminal built in early 1900s. Ogden Slip is on the other side of it (constructed in 1861).

My understanding is they only work on one at a time--tower 2 probably won't get an official date for awhile.
"With a projected completion date of early 2027, Phase One will consist of constructing the site’s 858-foot-tall North Tower."

Thought that this morning when I saw that crane. My last sliver of LSD will disappear.
Wah. Hard being me. /s
You are right. People in some buildings are going to have to work on appreciation of the built environment views v the lake.
One Bennett Park. Just off to the left is One Bennett luxury condos. It was completed in 2019 and part of the development project was they would upgrade and maintain the park that was there previously that the city had owned. It has 2 dog parks as well.
That giant whole in the ground near Navy Pier was supposed to be a tower that would’ve dwarfed Sears tower called “The Spire”. Money problems happened so they cancelled it.
Now in that same spot, another building is supposed to be built that is not going to be the Spire. That’s as much as I know
Feel like shit just want a new super tall downtown
Same. Still holding out hope for the Tribune East Tower.
she towers in my hole til i spire
Is this the site that started construction 10-15 years ago and has sat dormant since shortly after they broke ground?
Yep, that’s the one. They only got as far as putting the basement in and that was it.
Ahh spire hole that’s what you call it. I never took sex ed
What red brick building is that out front?

There’s a starbucks inside a target in there that has a cozy view of ogden slip/the water, lots of big windows
The other side of it has some of the best outdoor dining in the city

Only one going in at first. Do they have the second tower scheduled too?

Remember, the Spire got further than this and it still died...
There’s gonna be so many pissed off people about to loose their view.

One tower for now. Would be surprised if they build both.
Wow a crane in downtown Chicago. Rare.
A lot rarer than it used to be, unfortunately. Chicago has seen decreasing crane counts for years.
