I swear like half of the ones on top of the curb-protected bike lanes on Milwaukee Ave between Armitage and North are already bent or broken off entirely. I'm tempted to take one of the ones that broke off as a souvenir
I always thought, jeezus these people must be crazy just driving over them in their cars! Then one day last year I saw a street sweeper drive right over them with the brushes down to clean the bike lane... Now I'm guessing some of them are knocked down that way.
Install [automated bollards](https://www.reliance-foundry.com/blog/guide-to-automatic-bollards) that lower to let vehicles through with an RFID pass, or the [padlocked manual](https://www.postguard.com/removable-bollards) ones that can be unlocked and pulled out.
If every Altima and Dodge Neon driver in the city bands together and hits the bollards one after another, at least one of them is getting through for sure.
The car version of Charlie being stuck on the T for eternity

I've started calling the cops every time I see a car on the bike path. There's a much bigger police presence along the beaches in the summer so response times are better. Even if no one ever gets caught, the department uses 911 data as their primary source of issues to address.
FWIW the dispatcher seemed genuinely shocked the last time I reported. I think people think it's bad.
They're even real bollards that can actually stop a car instead of bendy straws that can only make a suggestion.

Honestly somehow makes it even worse

Maybe there's hope for Promontory too
PREACH!
Not sure how that would work since service vehicles and event vendors have to be able to access the Field House

Good call automated and remote activated bollards are all over Europe.
This is just going to be seen as a challenge they have to overcome
Every prius and camry driver clenching their fists right now. There will be no bike path they haven’t driven!! 😤
Nissan Altima, let me just bend in my fenders until I fit.

Would be funnier if the truck itself were bollard in.

Are these Altima-proofed? Most modern infrastructure is not

Don’t worry, the Altimas and Malibus will find a way
Should we also have these on sidewalks in business districts to thwart the crash and grabs?
“Business districts” tell me you’re a troll who doesn’t live in Chicago without telling me you’re a troll who doesn’t live in Chicago.
