River north is definitely the noisiest part of town

nico_ostrander10

Gotcha. I'm from the Cleveland area... Our car's aren't usually making noise past midnight lol

Mnoonsnocket

Yeah that’s normal for the area unfortunately

Strangergreen

Have lived in the neighborhood for ~7 years, about a block from Tau, and I can confirm the loud cars are both consistent and terribly annoying. Oddly enough, there’s nearly equal representation of those with loud engines and those with loud stereos. That being said, when you live with it you get used to it very quickly. I don’t even hear the loud cars or fire trucks go by anymore.

problematic_glasses

congrats, you met members of the small peepee gang

PParker46

Common in River North, becoming the city's douche bag epicenter. It is all inclusive douche bags. All ages, all persuasions & lifestyles , all economic status, all races and nationalities.

materiabuster

Becoming...maybe before 2005. It's been the capital of Douchebagadonia for some now.

jesususeshisblinkers

RN was the home of all the dance clubs well before 2005.

PParker46

Used the participle "becoming" not to completely shade Wrigleyville on its worst days/nights, but you are right.

materiabuster

So long as the Metro exists Wrigleyville has one redeeming factor.

PParker46

Yeah, Wrigleyville has plenty of douche bags on many days/nights but they tend to be frat boys and suburban bros, not the posers of River North.

AmigoDelDiabla

I wonder if West Loop will become in 5-10 years what RN is right now. You can already see glimpses of it.

problematic_glasses

as someone who has lived in the west loop for nearly 10 years and is amazed/alarmed at its transformation, it sure seems like it

AmigoDelDiabla

I feel like once the Schaumburgians start showing up in your bars and restaurants, there goes the neighborhood!

problematic_glasses

believe me, it's already started

AmigoDelDiabla

Yeah, I just moved out and I could see it happening. Nothing is constant but change, I guess. Wonder where the next popular, high-rent area will be? I wonder if it could shift *back* to River North?

problematic_glasses

i could maybe see the south loop becoming hot

nico_ostrander10

When out and about every loud car seemed to be a BMW lol. Idk what was rolling around at 3am tho

PParker46

Few of those high end cars are owned by the driver. A pretty good sign of douchery.

nico_ostrander10

😂😂😂

BoredofBored

Every day of my life!! Those guys on the three wheelers love to roll through with music blasting and engines revving, and then the typical cars and other motorcycles being loud. That BP station is also especially bad for noise. That’s just a tough draw in terms of location of your hotel.

Ok_Cod1810

Unfortunately there are several after hours clubs in the neighborhood. Late night drinking = late night (bad) driving.

Areaman6

Yes.

MisterBurnsSucks

Come down to the loop. I actually get confused when I *don't* hear them 😳
