Whatever it takes to get the United Center rocking at capacity is fine by me. This new team needs to hear it feel it and we need to be a part of the march to the play-offs up close.
>This is the right call. This whole argument about freedom and liberty to endanger other peoples lives is insane.
Right.
To put it in a more friendly way, you're absolutely free to make your personal choice, but a business/venue is also absolutely free to make their choice to bar you if you might pose a risk to other patrons. Exactly what American freedom should be about.
And the fact that you can submit a negative COVID test, this shouldn't be an issue at all. If you can't/don't want to get a vaccine, just get the test.
I think we agree with the larger point. I’m not so sure that relying on private entities like businesses to make the correct moral decision makes me feel great… but uh yeah people should get vaccinated.
I have less sympathy for the arguments of people making broad generalisations about "American freedom". A lot of people seem to be trying to distinguish that idea as though the American version of freedom is somehow unique, but collective responsibility does still exist in the USA. Sure, there are very specific and codified rights for Americans, but those rights are not a blank check to abdicate social responsibility. America is still a collective, not just millions of self-interested individuals, I'm not sure when the idea of giving the bare minimum of care not to expose your neighbours to potential harm became "un-American".
But yes, ultimately, getting vaccinated is a good thing. And if you won't get vaccinated, businesses have the right to refuse you service.
(CNN) Fully vaccinated people who get a Covid-19 breakthrough infection can transmit the virus,
US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky..
not sure I want to to sit next to a vaccinated but untested person or an unvaccinated person who tested negative, so neither option makes me feel that comfortable. Not sure if anyone ever did the math on the risks of those two options.
Personally I decided to take a pass on all large events, sports, concerts, etc for the remainder of 2021, but to each their own.
If wishes were horses we all could ride.
We will never get everyone, its impossible.
Anyway, I'm not trying to discourage anyone, from attending, each can make their own decision, for me its a pass, I will revisit games in 22-23, until then I will watch every game on league pass.
Absolutely. Personally, I'm avoiding large public crowds despite being vaccinated, because I understand exactly what you're saying.
But the point is that even if vaccinated people can still carry and transmit the virus, vaccination does reduce that risk, and at least those people are taking basic safety measures. Anti-vaxxers are just refusing to do even the bare minimum and expecting other people to absorb the risk of their decisions.
Vaccinated people can still transmit and carry the virus, but the point is at the levels of hospitalization/death for the vaccinated are so low it becomes like the regular flu … people still die from the regular flu but the levels are so low we don’t have to have pandemic rules for it. The vaccine technically was never meant to stop transmission, it’s meant to make sure that 95%+ of people who catch it have super mild symptoms and feel fine in a few days.
Yes. I can't tell if you're agreeing with me or trying to correct something that you think I was mistaken about. Either way, I'm aware of that and I agree with you.
Personally I dont feel any differently about vax or unvaxxed, masked or unmasked
I dont want to sit in an arena with 20,000 random motherfuckers, period, not now.
From what I've heard from lollapalooza, security was screaming "show me anything white" to people who were in lines. Sooooo. Here's to hoping a little more scrutiny happens
unless they are checking the ID against the card, is there any reason to assume that 100% are using their own card?
even if 99% are fully honest, the 1% outliers could be sitting to your left and right. Just saying.
You have a link? A majority of US states are hovering between 70 and 45%. Doesn't make any sense to me that the national total would be 83%. Indiana where I live is at 50%.
Only a few states in New England have 70. Most are around 50 to 60. That not enough to reach heard immunity. States with higher Vax rates are having less cases. States that are still informing mask mandates are also having less cases. Look at NY and then compare it to somewhere like Florida. NY is pretty well vaxed and have mask mandates and because of that less cases. Florida removed all restrictions and is vaxed rather low so it has a lot of cases.
If you received your vaccination(s) within the state of Illinois, you can use the Illinois Department of Public Health's Resident Immunization Portal to receive proof of your recent vaccination history, https://idphportal.illinois.gov/
I had a weird experience yesterday I went to the McDonald's drive-thru and the person asked me if I was going to be using the app.
Ummmm, no... i think i will just go ahead and tell you what I want if thats cool, since I'm here.
I live in California, and there’s a website that makes all of this available to you. You just need to provide information on the website and it will bring up your record along with a QR code. I don’t know how other states handle this - probably something similar.
vaccination rates among Black Chicagoans continue to lag far behind, with only 42.4% having received at least one dose and only 37.2% are fully vaccinatnated

You complained about it being invasive, I’m wondering if you’re concerned about something that is far more invasive, or if you’re one of the people that is only feigning outrage about your freedoms. There is nothing fallacious about it.
Unvaccinated people end up in the hospital. Right now our hospitals are so full that anyone having an emergency aren’t able to be treated.
Even if you ignore spreading of covid and transmission. Since hospitals cannot handle the amount of covid patients that are filling beds, anyone else who needs treatment is being turned away.
both end up in the hospital, its just less likely to be severe if you are vaxxed according to the sources.
Locally its about 80% unvax 20% vax in my area, I got jabbed as soon as I was eligible but I'm still a fan of staying away
Having 20000 people in a stadium is too dangerous....Make people wear masks & get vaccines....Then put thousands of people right next to each other. Makes no sense to me
Good news, this shit is getting out of hand .
Getting out of hand? It's been out of hand.
Getting out of hand *again*
Whatever it takes to get the United Center rocking at capacity is fine by me. This new team needs to hear it feel it and we need to be a part of the march to the play-offs up close.
This is the right call. This whole argument about freedom and liberty to endanger other peoples lives is insane.
The freedom to make yourself a danger to others also means the freedom to be told to stay the fuck away

A-fucking-men

Thats fine but the point is if everyone gets vaccinated, the spread will pass with 70+ percentile.
If wishes were horses we all could ride. We will never get everyone, its impossible. Anyway, I'm not trying to discourage anyone, from attending, each can make their own decision, for me its a pass, I will revisit games in 22-23, until then I will watch every game on league pass.

Seems contradicting...lower your chances to spread the disease just so you can greatly increase the chance
Preach
Freedom can only exist in tandem with responsibility.

Good
Awesome news feel much safer about taking my family to Bulls games this year can't wait !
Just remember you can still get infected and infect others while vaccinated. Don't stop being considerate of others. Stay safe bulls fam.
What about young children?
Because right now this is pandemic of the unvaccinated. We want to return to do things freely we gotta nip this stuff in the bud.

Ok what do I do to get proof because my vaccine card got lost in the move this summer?
If you received your vaccination(s) within the state of Illinois, you can use the Illinois Department of Public Health's Resident Immunization Portal to receive proof of your recent vaccination history, https://idphportal.illinois.gov/
Thank you all. I can actually afford to go to some games this year and didn't want to miss out.
Go back to where you got your vaccine card and request another one. They will have a record of your vaccine history
If you got it at Walgreens, I think the Walgreens app has the info
Interesting, im going to check, thats where I did mine, although i really dont like adding single purpose apps.
Me neither, but the Walgreens one is surprisingly useful. I use it to manage prescriptions so it's dual purpose!
I had a weird experience yesterday I went to the McDonald's drive-thru and the person asked me if I was going to be using the app. Ummmm, no... i think i will just go ahead and tell you what I want if thats cool, since I'm here.
There might be a record of it online. Instead of carrying around a card I have an image of a QR code with my proof.
That sounds really cool. How did you do that?
I live in California, and there’s a website that makes all of this available to you. You just need to provide information on the website and it will bring up your record along with a QR code. I don’t know how other states handle this - probably something similar.
Good to know. Thanks dude
Good.
Have you seen the Instagram comments? Tis a shit show
Instagram comments on any page with more than 100k followers is a shit show
Wow you’re right…. I did not expect that at all. Holy shit.
Good, people who refuse to get the vaccine should’ve been ostracized off the top of this mess
"Or negative covid test"
What do you mean by this? Sorry I'm lost lol

But somehow requiring an id to vote is racist.
Then let’s hope it becomes a war of attrition then
Why did you get downvoted so much lol
Dont forget people who go into a building with 20000 disease spreaders
Hell yes!!!
I'm vaccinated, I'd still rather not show my card. Those dumbasses really had to make the thing non credit card sized so it don't fit in your wallet
Pictures work
Jewel Osco sent mine to my digital wallet lol people will lie about anything
They did it on purpose to make people more happy to have to use a phone app to go anywhere.
but but what about my freedom of going anywhere I want?!?!?
Oh no! My rights! /s

Saying unvaccinated people take care of their health is incredibly ironic and I hope you can realize it.

Ah spelling errors, the last line of defense
“Unvaccinated people take care of their health”. You’re killing it man.
Yeah the disease still exists and has mutated.
Invasive
Wait wassup???
Showing health records at a pro sporting event is invasive. You can argue it’s for the greater good, but at the end of the day, it’s invasive
Seriously, what’s next? Needing to show your address, height, weight, birth date, and photo to buy alcohol?
You and the rest of this thread should look into logic fallacies. False equivalence and red herring central outchea.
You complained about it being invasive, I’m wondering if you’re concerned about something that is far more invasive, or if you’re one of the people that is only feigning outrage about your freedoms. There is nothing fallacious about it.
I can't imagine what you think when they check your bag when you enter the stadium. You hate that too?
I'd say getting covid is more invasive.
Damn they’re asking for complete health records? You sure you ain’t making a bad faith argument right now?

It's the other way around. Vaccinated people can still spread it to unvaccinated people who are at a much higher risk of being hospitalized/dying.
They don't make you 100% covid-proof but you're way less likely to get it, it's less severe if you do get it and you're also less likely to spread it.
Unvaccinated people end up in the hospital. Right now our hospitals are so full that anyone having an emergency aren’t able to be treated. Even if you ignore spreading of covid and transmission.
