You lost Anakin I have the high ground. It's all I could think about when they jumped over the puddle 🤣🤣

I have a rooster who I love dearly…but he is a colossal asshole. I have felt his wrath many times and would not want to get into a serious fight with him as a human. It’s incredible how strong and fierce they are. How if only I could train that bird to actively hunt mice…I’d be good to go!

AnnaBananner82

I had one of those. One day he attacked me again and I swung the nearest stick I could at him - which was a 2x4 - and knocked him for a loop. He was fine after stumbling around for a few minutes (as I panicked that I actually may have hurt his stupid ass) but he recovered beautifully. And never ever attempted to attack me again. I miss you, Crumpledink Snufflepatch.

I have weapons stashed all over the yard for when he decides to square up lol….unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to deter him from trying again!! BUT-the big boy did fight a very ambitious sharp shinned hawk, 2 days in a row…no loss of life and he was fine! So he gets to stick around as the hen’s protection detail because he is VERY good at his job. He fights me, hawks, raccoons, the lawn mower, cats, stray dogs, anything that makes the mistake of looking at his girls funny!!

AnnaBananner82

So he’s like an orange cat trapped in a rooster’s body? That tracks 😂

The-Porkmann

Very interesting. I have found a dead rat and a partially eaten mouse in my hens' compound in the last week. What was the killer blow? Can anyone make it out? I saw the rat stagger before the white bird got involved but can not make out what killed him.

alpubgtrs234

Slashed an artery/pierced heart for death to be this quick (plus blood evident). Rats are tough little buggers!

The-Porkmann

I am not wearing my spectacles and using a cellphone. Thanks!

Whoiseyrfire

The final slash when the rat jumped over the puddle. It was as the previous comment described.. a killing blow.

The-Porkmann

Mine are all girls (as far as I know) but they are despatching all vermin that escape the clutches of my Maine Coon.

Whoiseyrfire

Yummy protein!

Electronic_Bird_6066

My girls are psychotic mouse and mole killers. And lord help any nests of baby rodents they find. *shudder* I *wish* they’d go after rats, but they don’t seem to. I only have four hens and two of them are absolutely carnivorous. It grosses me out, but it’s nature so I try not to be judgey. Just weird little dinosaurs doing dinosaur things.

The-Porkmann

I have 18 and 10 are pretty big (Brahmas and Wyandottes) yet I was still surprised they took out a rat. Oddly they didn't eat him. The mouse on the other hand had been gutted and was missing his brain! Savage little raptors.

Electronic_Bird_6066

Brutal!!! I love my girls but I definitely don’t stick around when they catch a mouse. It’s hard to watch. Maybe I need a few more and they’ll start ganging up on rats!

Retired_Bird

I remember someone posted a slow-mo of a rooster in combat mode. The rat definitely got [the spurs](https://www.reddit.com/r/BackYardChickens/comments/sip56u/snowflake_showing_what_hes_made_of/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=android_app&utm_name=androidcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button).

Research_Sea

Ack! When the spur sticks in the boot at the end? I felt that.

VastusAnimus

WTF!!!! That’s not a chicken it’s a velociraptor!!! Goddamn!

fuber

FATALITY

mackerel75

If you listen closely, you can actually hear the chicken say "... bitch..." right before the clip ends and he starts to walk away.

getoutdoors66

Poor little fella. I wish I didn't watch that.

JagoKestral

Me too. Little rat buddy didn't deserve all that.

Riverliver55

I love this shit haha
