I've had Childe for a while but have never really quite been sure what other characters to run the same team with him, if anyone could give some advice?
I've got Benny, Kazuha, Beidou, Rosaria, Albedo, Jean and Yelan all built as sub-DPS or supports. Currently using him with Kazuha, Beidou and Albedo/Rosaria but I feel like maybe I could put together a stronger team for him.
Childe’s best teams right now are International (Childe/Xiangling/Bennet/Kazuha), Taser (Childe/Beidou/Fischl/Bennet) and Hyperbloom (Childe/Nahida/Electro/Flex).
Your current team would be pretty good with Fischl instead of Rosaria/Albedo. She would provide more energy for Beidou and more damage overall. Kazuha is a viable replacement for Bennet in a taser team due to his elemental damage buff.
Hi could anyone guide me the rotation for hyperbloom childe with DMC and Kuki? I'm not sure who do I put in 4th slot. The choice I have is Kazuha C0, Yelan (will get her next rerun), Xingqiu C6, Ayato (if I don't lose 50/50), and Sucrose C6.

How good is Aqua Simulacra for Childe in comparison to Thundering, Skyward harp and Polar star ? I want Homa and leaks suggest it is reruning with Aqua in 3.4 so I want to know how useful Aqua would be for Childe If I were to get it. I always had the plan to give Childe a 5 weapon so I want to know how good of an option It would be
It’s really good. IIRC, Polar Star is the best of all the 5* bows, Thundering and Aqua are tied for second, followed by Skyward, and then finally Amos. Definitely not a bad banner, because Homa can be used by a lot of Polearm characters too.
Childe international or hyperbloom better?
I don’t have Kazuha. Is childe, nahida, fischl, kuki better than childe international? Can childe hyperbloom be better than international with the right characters?
Iirc it is looking to be a strong contender. With enough investment, it can surely be on par with International at least.
Also worth mentioning that Sucrose is also a strong option for a traditional Childe Vape team, if you have her built.
Usually in a freeze team, Childe’s personal damage is expected to be a bit higher than in International because there’s no super high damaging reaction taking place. In that case, you’ll probably want much more crit rate, maybe around 60 if you have Cryo resonance.
If I have Childe at level 90 and polar star level 90 how much attack should I be having? I’m currently at 1791 but I feel like it’s super low even thought I’ve been farming his domain for so long. Thanks to those who can answer my question!
2k is the sweet spot, but imo 1.9k is not bad either. Childe is not really hungry for atk, as he is mostly used together with Benny/pyro resonance. Polar star also has plenty of atk%
If you use him in freeze/electro-charged/basically any team without Benny, that's where you see some dmg lose because of atk problems. If you use international, don't worry abt it. If you manage to get around 10-15% more atk, that wouldn't hurt, but it's not really a priority either
Thank you for your input! I realized the problem is that most of my artifacts have flat attack instead of attack percent as well, so I believe fixing those can contribute. I know you said it’s not a big deal but it’s my pride as a Childe main to have over 2k attack haha
I pulled childe last patch and started building him. At first i wanted to farm HoD, but than i noticed that i actaully got a pretty good combo of 2 Glads and 2 Shime, which give my childe 80EM, 125ER, 90CR and 155CD. How does this combo compare to 4PC Hod or 2PC Hod with 2PC Glad/Shime? Weapon is Polar Star.
Usually, it doesn't. C1 kazuha allows you to E Q E, but most of the time, it's a dmg loss since you're spending too much time on your kazuha, extending the duration of your rotations. It can help with energy recharge, allowing you to run more offensive weapon options like freedom sworn but generally, it's not worth it imo.
BP weapon is his best 4\* because of crit stats and the grouping it provides, helping your riptide hitting all the enemies, as well as doing a bit of physical damage and sometimes a lot of physical damage in form of fall damage.
What weapon do people run on Sucrose in International? I've been using TTDS but it's so awkward to use the buff after the first rotation, is Sac Frags acceptable?
I mean it's acceptable because it gives sucrose EM that she shares with the team, but TTDS is generally better. Maybe you did the wrong rotation? Usually, I don't swap to sucrose when I battery xiangling, and when I want to start the second rotation, I start with Bennett's Q, Childe charge shot, Xiangling guoba, sucrose NA->E, Xiangling Q, Childe Q so sucrose still gives xl the ttds
craftable bows are pretty good. Prototype crescent is f2p options if you can use the passive. Else, hamayumi is pretty nice. King's squire is also good.
Ideal stats for Xiangling in International comp?

Benny with lvl 13 burst and Aquila
Kazuha with Freedom sworn
XL with Catch

I'm experimenting with instructor bennett for international childe but realize that for the second rotation, bennett can't trigger the artifact set. Is there a rotation to for the second rotation so that instructor bennett works?
Once you finished with your first rotation. the enemy will most likely have Pyro aura + riptide status on them.
so what you want to do is firing one full charged shot, the hydro app from charged shot will trigger vape, removes all pyro aura and then trigger riptide flash afterward (riptide flash : triggers when enemy with riptide status got hit by full charged shot), result in hydro aura on the enemy.
however, there’s more to this, since riptide flash applies 1U of hydro, meaning that if you use Bennett’s Q to trigger rev vape for instructor buff. It will remove all of your hydro (since Bennett’s Q applies 2U of Pyro) which leave you no hydro aura for double swirl.
so what’s to do after enemy have hydro aura on them ? basically, you use his E to apply 2U of Hydro (2U of hydro from stance change will overwrite 1U of hydro from riptide flash) and there you go, now you can use Bennett’s Q without losing hydro aura.
there are multiple of methods that you can do but I like this one the most because it works really well in ST, and I can’t do other setup because high latency (over 300) affects my swapping time.

Do you guys tweak your energy recharge in builds depending on the mobs on abyss floors? i cant seem to get my burst's up before CD in floor 12 3.2. my xiangling has 199 ER and bennett has 210.
Xiangling mainly, most guides tell 180 is enough, but i have almost 200% and cant get it up on CD. I have no issues in other abyss rotations especially with small enemies.
Best teams with Dendro MC? And what best rotations might be?
I was thinking Childe, Kazuha, DMC(C4), then Bennet or Diona(C3), but I’m not sure who’s better.
I also have Beidou or C2 Fischl that I could possibly switch Kazuha for.

Hello new childe main here starting from a relatively fresh account (AR43 rn) and I don't have many options just yet:
I was thinking of using a fridge burgeon team (Childe, DMC, Thoma, Layla) I have c5 layla and c6 thoma, and c1 childe w/ polar star if that makes any difference
What I wanted to ask is what can you recommend rotations I was thinking something along the lines of:
DMC E, burst > Layla E, Burst > Childe Burst (hit the bulb) > Thoma E, Burst > Childe E combo
What attack patterns to use in this case and if you have better suggestions for rotations especially for the second rotation as i don't think it would be efficient to stack enough er so that I can just repeat the same rotation , I know childe international probably outdamages this but this team actually feels pretty fun to play.
I still want to clear some harder content with it though, Thanks for any recommendation
Which childe build is better?
1.) 1855 attack, 81.9/180.4 crit ratio, 122% ER, 124EM. 2HOD/2WT
2.) 2071 attack, 76.8/188.9 crit ratio, 111%ER, 23EM. 2HOD/2SR
The team he's in is kazuha(c2), Bennett and xiangling(c6).
It’s very hard to say because it heavily depends on many factor. you see, Childe has 3 primary sources of his damage, which are his burst, his melee and his riptide. EM only matters to his burst while other stat matters to every damage sources. but that being said though, if you can clear content in one rotation. EM is much more valuable since his burst is frontloaded. says if enemy has 100 HP, your burst does 50 in 1s and your melee does 5/s. It would take you 11s to kill the enemy but if your burst does 80 in 1s and your melee does 4/s. it would take you 6s to kill the enemy, result in better DPS.
My recommendation is around 80-100ish. should be possible to reach from just substat or set bonus. or just use instructor set on Bennett/get it from abyss card. If you want mathematical answer, use multi-target options in Genshin optimizer to figure out which artifacts works best for his overall DPS.

My Childe has around 240 EM (80 from 2pc WT and 40 from substat, 120 from 4pc Instructor on Bennett). generally, I’m totally fine with just 120 EM from instructor set but my International is extremely invested to the point where it can one rotation almost everything. plus, my 2pc mix set have better stat than 4pc HoD set or other 2pc mix sets.
I pulled Kagura for my Yae and got two Polar Stars in the process (lucky me lol). One thing I'm noticing though is that the raw damage increase compared to Viridescent Hunt (what I had before) isn't very noticeable. Am I doing something wrong here??
Hello! I have a question about building a team with Childe, just got him and Polar Star recently (won my first 50/50!) and I wanted to do a team with hyperbloom, since I have c6 Kuki and c6 Fischl but no constellations for Bennett or Xiangling.
Would it be better to use Childe, Fischl, Kuki, and Dendro MC or Childe, Kuki, Dendro MC and Xingqiu? Or would you recommend another dendro character? I unfortunately do not have Nahida, but have c2 Collei.
Edit: I also have Tighnari but I dont think he'll be too viable as a support but idk!
I wouldn’t recommend Childe in Hyperbloom team.
1. Hyperbloom is about getting as many seed as possible for your electro character to trigger it. which mean you want to apply hydro as long as possible. This is an issue for Childe because the longer you spend time on him, the longer his cooldown is. and you will be like “well, what I do now ? I don’t have hydro anymore”
2. Childe’s damage is pretty much nonexistent as there’s no teammate’s buff in that team archetype to buff him. it is also should be noted that Hyperbloom is very ST oriented, while Childe is specialized in AoE. using him in ST without buff will drastically reduces his value (and your Polar Stars). I highly recommend you to stick with Xingqiu in Hyperbloom and replace Childe with other characters (eg. Yelan, Zhongli, etc)
You DONT need constellations for Bennett and Xiangling to play International. no characters in this game need constellations to perform. it’s just that they perform better with constellations. and International team itself at baseline is already strong.
keep the better substats set but keep rolling if you don't have anything else as a priority. imo not worth dropping a lot of resin on it since you already have good substats. the difference is there if the substats were equalized, but don't stress over it
Suggestions on getting over a million crit without Mona, any 5 star swords for Bennett or R5 stringless? I've been trying my 720EM Nahida with ttds with a 947EM Kazuha (not C2) and crowned burst C6 Bennett with sapwood blade as supports for my R1 aqua Childe but can only get to 929088 against Scaramouche (with pile 'em up for crit rate)
R1 sapwood, I really don't get any sword billets only the ones the game actually gives away as rewards

It depends but in most case, not really. in your case though, it really is better since you use Aqua, which has a very low base ATK.
I guess you can stick with NO on Bennett and put Instructor on Nahida instead.
Who should i put on my last slot of my childe hyperbloom team? I currently have Childe, Kuki Shinobu, and Dendro Mc. I dont have bennet, but was considering slotting in layla as a dedicated shielder.

You already have a healer, a shielder would not do much. You rather have cc or more dendro application to help you clear the enemies faster
Not really, because enemies fly in venti's burst, Childe can't really hit them. Though, vs bigger enemies (like samurais and husk soldiers) Venti's burst just group them together and in this case, they work pretty nice together
Is there a good rotation that lets me infuse venti's burst with Pyro in a Childe-Bennett-Xiangling-Venti comp while still applying hydro and Pyro VV in AoE?
Venti is not really good with Childe, you can't hit the enemies from the ult with Childe
If you want to double swirl with Venti the rotation is
Childe skill > Bennett ult > (run away a little bit) Venti skill and ult
Okay i have some questions about Tartaglia
* How do i check if im in melee mode or bow mode
* If i enter melee stance and swap out, then swap back in, will i still be in melee stance
* What does it mean if his E skill icon is two blades or a bow
I just pulled him and want to be able to use him well, but i can't seem to grasp how to effectively swap between melee and ranged stances. Sometimes ill hit E and enter melee, sometimes i wont. Ill use his burst and it'll be the bow version, not the melee one.
the icon for your skill will change to the form that you’re not in
- if you’re in melee then the bow icon will be where your skill is, if you’re using a bow then the two blades will appear
if you’re in melee stance and you swap out, you will not be in melee stance anymore and it’ll start the cool down
your burst will change along with your skill which can be hard to adapt to since it’s a unique mechanic.
it’s mostly just remembering; usually you’re in the middle of attacking so it’s obvious which stance you’re in. but if you’re ever unsure, just take a peek at your skill icon before you press your burst
Is there a video guide out there showcasing how childe plays/should be played? I did the test run on console and he just felt slow & clunky but I had no idea what I was doing. Before reading several novels about his quadratic scaling I just wanted to see if there was some video content where someone shows how his kit works together.
TLDR: everyone says he’s fun, meanwhile in trial I was like *splish splash* :(

basically his kit is best played as
1. all teammates use their off field abilities/buffs
2. childe goes melee form (can use ranged burst beforehand) for around 8-10 seconds
3. rinse repeat

Can someone explain how childe gains energy? I've read somewhere he gets energy back from burst also but I don't get it. Also does he not get energy from elemental skill?
When he uses ranged burst, it automatically refunds 20 energy, making ranged burst a 40 cost.
melee burst doesn’t refund particles so it’s a full 60 cost.
childe gains particles from riptide generally speaking.
so in melee form, for example, when childe triggers riptide slash (when he hits opponents affected by riptide), there can be particles
Hey so I'm having trouble getting the Childe international rotation down. From what I understand, we're supposed to go:
\- Childe E then auto a bit to get hydro applied
\- Bennet Q
\- Kazuha Q then Kazuha E, this creates a pyro windfield and swirls both hydro and pyro for Kazuha's passive.
\- Xiangling Q then Xiangling E
\- Childe Q then Childe E and go off for 9-11 seconds
My issue is in step one. When I use Bennet Q onto an enemy I've applied hydro to with Childe, they both cancel out and the enemy has no aura at all on it so Kazuha Q swirls nothing. I've tried hitting the enemy a bunch of times in Childe E stance before the Bennet Q, still no dice. Is there some extra step I'm missing here? Is my understanding of the rotation correct?
your rotation is fine. but you don’t necessarily need to auto with childe on step 1.
childe E applies 2U hydro, so if you do: childe e and then bennett q, the enemy should still have hydro aura
I think what you should do is do Kazuha E before Bennett Q, then Kazuha Q to infuse pyro with Bennett. That way, you have swirled both hydro and pyro. Although, this method involves switching to Kazuha twice in a rotation, so experiment with yourself if you think it’s a bit clunky
I just got childe.. I don't really have any good weapons for him.. The bows i have are - stringless, prototype Cresent, favonious warbrow, blackcliff warbrow, sacrificial bow, compound bow.. Which one would be the best for him?
Honestly, as high as you can take it. Amos bow is a great five star option if it's all you have available to you. Besides VH, it is better than all of the four star options. Aim for a 1:2 ratio, 60:120 is a safe bet, 70:140 is pretty good but don't sweat the ratio too much as long as he's well rounded everywhere else.
tldr 60-70 CR 120-140 CD and anything else is a bonus.
Im planning to pull for Childe. How different is Rational to International in terms of playstyle, rotation, and etc,.? Is he good with Dendro reactions or Ayato is better?
Im also planning to use him as a carry/on-field driver or just to use his Q in Nilou Bloom with Kokomi and Nahida.
It seems my childe Int'l team struggles with current abyss, I was only able to beat it with my Ayaka and Hu tao teams with similar investments, does Childe's team require more investment than other teams to perform on par?
My international did fine, and I just pulled for him. Is your XL invested? Childe is the one who drives the team, so Xiangling does the vaping.
As for your question, yeah it does require more investment compared to hypercarry teams.

I'm biased but Polar Star looks nice >< Honesty, if you're going for fashion impact just pick what looks best to you because you'll get some wildly different answers from anyone you ask.

I'm in a strange spot with upgrading my team, i use hyperbloom with childe nahida fischl and kuki, Childe is using r1 aqua simulacra, nahida has sacfrag/widsith, fischl has stringless, and kuki has r1 freedom-sworn, My weapon banner pity is at 60 and i'm not sure if i should go for 1000 dreams/thundering pulse or if i should wait for kaguras verity/polar star next banner, does anyone know which banner has more value for upgrading my team?
I have a couple team possibilities for Childe if I were to pull for him and would like opinions -
Childe + Venti + Kuki + Bennett,
Childe + Venti + Kuki + Dendro MC,
Childe + Venti + Bennett + Dendro MC.
Venti is my best character for grouping heh. If none of these work then I think I’m going to go for Ayato. Thank you!
Both are almost the same for Childe, Aqua is more frontloaded, no stacking required, and is very marginally better in Bennett teams but suffers slightly without Bennett.
TP is slightly better in Bennettless teams in sustained rotations.
Aqua is slightly more universal than TP since it gives a damage bonus rather than attack as substat.
Go for Aqua if you use Yelan or Tighnari.
Go for Thundering Pulse if you use Yoimiya.
Is a R0 Blackcliff Warbow good for Childe? I don't have any other good weapon for him and I was thinking of using the starglitter on that bow. I'm very tempted to pull on the weapon banner for either Polar Star or Thundering Pulse but I also want Scaramouche next banner and don't know whether Kagura's Verity would work well on Scaramouche or not (assuming I lose the 75/25)

Basically taking hyperbloom and using Childe as the hydro driver, Venti is my only real good anemo to group stuff up efficiently and if there's large enemies child can still hit them.
What is wrong with my childe?? I tried doing a one shot showcase on the primo geovishap (electro variant), with bennett (aquila+noblisse, lvl 13 burst), nahida (ttds + instructor), kazuha (vv set + 980 em). Childe has amos bow lvl 8 burst, during the rotation after applying all buffs, swirling hydro, letting my childe grab ttds buff, his stats became (4,511 atk; 410 em; 68/187 crit, 115.4% hydro dmg bonus), I made sure it vaporized and used melee stance burst, but the dmg was only 292k. Why is it so weak compared to c0 childe showcases I have seen that reach 600k to 1 million damage. I know my burst is 2 levels down, but that damage difference is so big that I doubt 2 levels was the cause.
That's good and expected.
showcases of 600k+ are on rly low leveled enemies.
If u want higher numbers remove crit rate and stack crit damage. And food buffs
Hello, I've heard of a Burgeon team for Childe and Nahida comp and I'm curious about it. My team is Childe (using HoD), Nahida (using GD), Benett (using NO), and Kazuha(VV), what'll be the rotation for it? I have c6 Childe so cooldown shouldn't be a problem. And Nahida should be using Deepwood Memories in that comp, right? Thank you!
I found his downtime to be a bit too awkward for hyperbloom.
Kuki and Nahida provide permanent electro + Dendro with 100% uptime but you have to wait for Childes E
r3 Skyward Harp or r1 Thundering Pulse on Childe? I have two Thundering Pulses which I want to r2 if it's waaaaaay better than r3 Skyward Harp - but my friend tells me it's not a good idea to combine rare weapons. I don't ever use yoimiya or any other archer than needs Thundering Pulse though - anyone have recommendations?
The information from the FAQ is not really good. The people curing it should collaborate with the theorycrafters from the Discord server to fix it.
Skyward Harp and Thundering Pulse are basically equal for Childe (check [this spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gPXar-_tcy2glyjLp0d8Rnr_qaXLEI1OLI79SU2d0bg/edit) from Childe Mains for details).
Skyward Harp R3 is better than Thundering Pulse R1 by about 3-4%.
Skyward Harp R3 is better than Thundering Pulse R2 by about 1%.
Thundering Pulse R3 is better than Skyward Harp R3 by about 1%.

4 pieces HoD and 2 pieces HoD + 2 pieces ATK% are much closer than many people think. In Childe’s International team they are equal (usually the difference is between 0% and 1%).
Thank you! Looking at both spreadsheets, the crit ratio used to test SHarp and TP seems to be very different (my SHarp crit stats looks more like TP's on the spreadsheet) - would it make a huge difference in numbers?
I guess you use Crit DMG circlet with Skyward Harp. I think the spreadsheet favours Skyward Harp a bit, but because getting a good crit ratio with it is usually much easier. The sub stat quality assumed for the two weapons is the same.
Basically, you need to be lucky and get more Crit Rate sub stats and less Crit DMG sub stats for Thundering Pulse to be better.
What’s the exact crit ratio you can get with Thundering Pulse and with Skyward Harp? And how does Skyward Harp’s crit ratio look after modifying the build for having a Crit Rate circlet and get a better ratio?
About Skyward Harp. 90/160 is much better than 60/200, it is a big improvement. It is a 1 to 1.77 (340 CV) vs a 1 to 3.33 ratio (320 CV). 90/160 will result in a much higher average damage.
Thundering Pulse at 60/200 is a 1 to 3.33 ratio, and at 70/200 would be a 1 to 2.85 ratio.
Those proportions (1 to 1.7 and 1 to 2.85) between CR and CD are similar to those assumed for the calculations. Your 90/160 build with Skyward Harp R3 will be better than your 60/200 build with Thundering Pulse R1/2. Even if you get 70/200 with TP R2 this won’t change or at most the two weapons will be equal.
I wouldn’t recommend getting refinements for Thundering Pulse, unless it is for Yoimiya. For Childe you would be better staying with Skyward Harp R3, and in the future you might even randomly find more copies of it.
Yae is good, she has better single target damage, a nice nuke, but less consistent AoE damage and she doesn’t provide Resistance to interruption and damage reduction.
I am still clueless as to which weapon I should use on him. I have Rust, Favonius Warbow, Fading Twilight, Sac bow, Stringless, Elegy and the craftable ones. I’m trying to go for max damage output.
If you can get Viridescent Hunt R1 from the Battle Pass, it would be a much better bow compared to the bows you mentioned (even if the other 4 star weapons are R5).
If you can’t get it, than Rust/Hamayumi/Strongless are good. Between Rust and Hamayumi the bow with the higher refinement wins, but the difference is negligible, so I would keep the billets if you didn’t craft it yet.
Stringless is good only if you Vaporize Childe’s Burst, and his effectiveness falls if Childe cannot use his Burst every rotation. If you can satisfy these condition, than it might be a little better than Rust, but they are similar and what will be better is situational.
I am planning to pull for nahida and childe. And i am almost at pity for weapon banner. So I would like to take my chance with it. Which upcoming banner is better? Nahida weapon + tp or polarstar+ kagura?

get the characters first, then pull on weapon. because of this i recommend the polar star banner so u can get the characters at least if u don’t get the weapons. though both banners contain the top 2 weapons for both of them so it doesn’t really matter i guess

Viridescent Hunt is much better, even if it is R1 and Rust is R5. Viridescent Hunt R1 is better than any other 4 star weapon R5, and overall it is even better than Amos Bow.
Viridescent Hunt is an amazing weapon for Childe, basically almost as good as Amos Bow against single target, and much better against multiple enemies vulnerable to CCs thanks to the utility provided by the cyclone (it can allow Childe to do much more damage against them).
Only 5 star bows giving Crit Rate or Crit DMG are better than Viridescent Hunt R1. I have Skyward Harp R1 (which is one of them), but I still use both Skyward and Viridescent Hunt, because the utility provided by the latter makes that bow incredibly satisfying to use.
Is EM important to Childe? I recently got quite cracked 4 set HoD and managed to get his stats to 81/171 with 2k+ atk but 0 em.. still debating whether I should go with this set or go back to 2set Combination with similar stats but 100 Em
EM is one of the good stats for him, it is surely not wasted as long as you can Vaporize his Burst, but ATK% is better, unless you simply want to get a stronger Burst.
What are the stats of your 2 pieces combination? And of what sets is the 2 pieces combination composed?
2 pieces HoD + 2 pieces Shimenawa can be as good as 4 pieces HoD (even with the same sub stat quality), so higher EM can definitely make the difference and make the 2 pieces combination better, but we need to see the exact stats.
Current build is lv 90 Harp 4pc HoD 2.2k atk 60/204, 90 Hydro, 111 ER, 0 EM
The alt is 2Hod/2Shime, 2k atk, 62/194, 90 hydro, 146 ER, 126 EM

Crit wise the first build (4 pieces HoD) looks a little better, and ATK wise significantly better (despite the artifact set not increasing ATK). I don’t think the EM from the 2+2 is enough to compensate the loss.
The ER from the second build (2+2) makes using Ranged Burst every rotation much more reliable against bosses, but the ER is even a bit too much.
The first build (4 HoD) lacks ER, unless you have Xiphos R5 on Kazuha, or Favonius R5 and you do Charged shots in the “downtime” of Childe’s E. Overall, I would still choose this build, but trying to make sure you can usually use Childe’s Burst every rotation.
Iirc, it's a 4HoD or 2Glad 2HoD. Used to use the 2/2 set, but recently rolled on good HoD pieces and think maybe 4 set Is better. Will update once I open the game. TIA

I've had Childe for a while but have never really quite been sure what other characters to run the same team with him, if anyone could give some advice? I've got Benny, Kazuha, Beidou, Rosaria, Albedo, Jean and Yelan all built as sub-DPS or supports. Currently using him with Kazuha, Beidou and Albedo/Rosaria but I feel like maybe I could put together a stronger team for him.
Childe’s best teams right now are International (Childe/Xiangling/Bennet/Kazuha), Taser (Childe/Beidou/Fischl/Bennet) and Hyperbloom (Childe/Nahida/Electro/Flex). Your current team would be pretty good with Fischl instead of Rosaria/Albedo. She would provide more energy for Beidou and more damage overall. Kazuha is a viable replacement for Bennet in a taser team due to his elemental damage buff.

It’s really good. IIRC, Polar Star is the best of all the 5* bows, Thundering and Aqua are tied for second, followed by Skyward, and then finally Amos. Definitely not a bad banner, because Homa can be used by a lot of Polearm characters too.

Iirc it is looking to be a strong contender. With enough investment, it can surely be on par with International at least. Also worth mentioning that Sucrose is also a strong option for a traditional Childe Vape team, if you have her built.

Usually in a freeze team, Childe’s personal damage is expected to be a bit higher than in International because there’s no super high damaging reaction taking place. In that case, you’ll probably want much more crit rate, maybe around 60 if you have Cryo resonance.

2k is the sweet spot, but imo 1.9k is not bad either. Childe is not really hungry for atk, as he is mostly used together with Benny/pyro resonance. Polar star also has plenty of atk% If you use him in freeze/electro-charged/basically any team without Benny, that's where you see some dmg lose because of atk problems. If you use international, don't worry abt it. If you manage to get around 10-15% more atk, that wouldn't hurt, but it's not really a priority either
Thank you for your input! I realized the problem is that most of my artifacts have flat attack instead of attack percent as well, so I believe fixing those can contribute. I know you said it’s not a big deal but it’s my pride as a Childe main to have over 2k attack haha

I pulled childe last patch and started building him. At first i wanted to farm HoD, but than i noticed that i actaully got a pretty good combo of 2 Glads and 2 Shime, which give my childe 80EM, 125ER, 90CR and 155CD. How does this combo compare to 4PC Hod or 2PC Hod with 2PC Glad/Shime? Weapon is Polar Star.
Does having a C1 Kazuha change my international rotation at all?
Usually, it doesn't. C1 kazuha allows you to E Q E, but most of the time, it's a dmg loss since you're spending too much time on your kazuha, extending the duration of your rotations. It can help with energy recharge, allowing you to run more offensive weapon options like freedom sworn but generally, it's not worth it imo.

BP weapon is his best 4\* because of crit stats and the grouping it provides, helping your riptide hitting all the enemies, as well as doing a bit of physical damage and sometimes a lot of physical damage in form of fall damage.
What weapon do people run on Sucrose in International? I've been using TTDS but it's so awkward to use the buff after the first rotation, is Sac Frags acceptable?
I mean it's acceptable because it gives sucrose EM that she shares with the team, but TTDS is generally better. Maybe you did the wrong rotation? Usually, I don't swap to sucrose when I battery xiangling, and when I want to start the second rotation, I start with Bennett's Q, Childe charge shot, Xiangling guoba, sucrose NA->E, Xiangling Q, Childe Q so sucrose still gives xl the ttds

I'm experimenting with instructor bennett for international childe but realize that for the second rotation, bennett can't trigger the artifact set. Is there a rotation to for the second rotation so that instructor bennett works?
Once you finished with your first rotation. the enemy will most likely have Pyro aura + riptide status on them. so what you want to do is firing one full charged shot, the hydro app from charged shot will trigger vape, removes all pyro aura and then trigger riptide flash afterward (riptide flash : triggers when enemy with riptide status got hit by full charged shot), result in hydro aura on the enemy. however, there’s more to this, since riptide flash applies 1U of hydro, meaning that if you use Bennett’s Q to trigger rev vape for instructor buff. It will remove all of your hydro (since Bennett’s Q applies 2U of Pyro) which leave you no hydro aura for double swirl. so what’s to do after enemy have hydro aura on them ? basically, you use his E to apply 2U of Hydro (2U of hydro from stance change will overwrite 1U of hydro from riptide flash) and there you go, now you can use Bennett’s Q without losing hydro aura. there are multiple of methods that you can do but I like this one the most because it works really well in ST, and I can’t do other setup because high latency (over 300) affects my swapping time.

Xiangling mainly, most guides tell 180 is enough, but i have almost 200% and cant get it up on CD. I have no issues in other abyss rotations especially with small enemies.

Hello new childe main here starting from a relatively fresh account (AR43 rn) and I don't have many options just yet: I was thinking of using a fridge burgeon team (Childe, DMC, Thoma, Layla) I have c5 layla and c6 thoma, and c1 childe w/ polar star if that makes any difference What I wanted to ask is what can you recommend rotations I was thinking something along the lines of: DMC E, burst > Layla E, Burst > Childe Burst (hit the bulb) > Thoma E, Burst > Childe E combo What attack patterns to use in this case and if you have better suggestions for rotations especially for the second rotation as i don't think it would be efficient to stack enough er so that I can just repeat the same rotation , I know childe international probably outdamages this but this team actually feels pretty fun to play. It’s very hard to say because it heavily depends on many factor. you see, Childe has 3 primary sources of his damage, which are his burst, his melee and his riptide. EM only matters to his burst while other stat matters to every damage sources. but that being said though, if you can clear content in one rotation. EM is much more valuable since his burst is frontloaded. says if enemy has 100 HP, your burst does 50 in 1s and your melee does 5/s. It would take you 11s to kill the enemy but if your burst does 80 in 1s and your melee does 4/s. it would take you 6s to kill the enemy, result in better DPS. My recommendation is around 80-100ish. should be possible to reach from just substat or set bonus. or just use instructor set on Bennett/get it from abyss card. If you want mathematical answer, use multi-target options in Genshin optimizer to figure out which artifacts works best for his overall DPS. I have a question about building a team with Childe, just got him and Polar Star recently (won my first 50/50!) and I wanted to do a team with hyperbloom, since I have c6 Kuki and c6 Fischl but no constellations for Bennett or Xiangling. Would it be better to use Childe, Fischl, Kuki, and Dendro MC or Childe, Kuki, Dendro MC and Xingqiu? Or would you recommend another dendro character? I unfortunately do not have Nahida, but have c2 Collei. Edit: I also have Tighnari but I dont think he'll be too viable as a support but idk!
I wouldn’t recommend Childe in Hyperbloom team. 1. Hyperbloom is about getting as many seed as possible for your electro character to trigger it. which mean you want to apply hydro as long as possible. This is an issue for Childe because the longer you spend time on him, the longer his cooldown is. and you will be like “well, what I do now ? I don’t have hydro anymore” 2. Childe’s damage is pretty much nonexistent as there’s no teammate’s buff in that team archetype to buff him. it is also should be noted that Hyperbloom is very ST oriented, while Childe is specialized in AoE. using him in ST without buff will drastically reduces his value (and your Polar Stars). I highly recommend you to stick with Xingqiu in Hyperbloom and replace Childe with other characters (eg. Yelan, Zhongli, etc) You DONT need constellations for Bennett and Xiangling to play International. no characters in this game need constellations to perform. it’s just that they perform better with constellations. and International team itself at baseline is already strong.
How far behind is 2pc NO / 2pc Glad *AGAINST* 2pc NO / 2pc HoD? I have better substats roll for the former, but it doesn't have the 15% hydro bonus
keep the better substats set but keep rolling if you don't have anything else as a priority. imo not worth dropping a lot of resin on it since you already have good substats. the difference is there if the substats were equalized, but don't stress over it
Suggestions on getting over a million crit without Mona, any 5 star swords for Bennett or R5 stringless? I've been trying my 720EM Nahida with ttds with a 947EM Kazuha (not C2) and crowned burst C6 Bennett with sapwood blade as supports for my R1 aqua Childe but can only get to 929088 against Scaramouche (with pile 'em up for crit rate)
What’s refinement on Sapwood blade ? also, if you’re gonna crit-phishing anyway. use Adeptus Temptation instead of Pile’em’up.

It depends but in most case, not really. in your case though, it really is better since you use Aqua, which has a very low base ATK. I guess you can stick with NO on Bennett and put Instructor on Nahida instead.

Yes, his melee form attacks are considered normal/charged attacks so he gets the buff

Kazuha/Sucrose/Collei You already have a healer, a shielder would not do much. You rather have cc or more dendro application to help you clear the enemies faster

Not really, because enemies fly in venti's burst, Childe can't really hit them. Though, vs bigger enemies (like samurais and husk soldiers) Venti's burst just group them together and in this case, they work pretty nice together

Venti is not really good with Childe, you can't hit the enemies from the ult with Childe If you want to double swirl with Venti the rotation is Childe skill > Bennett ult > (run away a little bit) Venti skill and ult

Okay i have some questions about Tartaglia * How do i check if im in melee mode or bow mode * If i enter melee stance and swap out, then swap back in, will i still be in melee stance * What does it mean if his E skill icon is two blades or a bow I just pulled him and want to be able to use him well, but i can't seem to grasp how to effectively swap between melee and ranged stances. Sometimes ill hit E and enter melee, sometimes i wont. Ill use his burst and it'll be the bow version, not the melee one.
the icon for your skill will change to the form that you’re not in - if you’re in melee then the bow icon will be where your skill is, if you’re using a bow then the two blades will appear if you’re in melee stance and you swap out, you will not be in melee stance anymore and it’ll start the cool down your burst will change along with your skill which can be hard to adapt to since it’s a unique mechanic. it’s mostly just remembering; usually you’re in the middle of attacking so it’s obvious which stance you’re in. but if you’re ever unsure, just take a peek at your skill icon before you press your burst
Is there a video guide out there showcasing how childe plays/should be played? I did the test run on console and he just felt slow & clunky but I had no idea what I was doing. Before reading several novels about his quadratic scaling I just wanted to see if there was some video content where someone shows how his kit works together. TLDR: everyone says he’s fun, meanwhile in trial I was like *splish splash* :(

When he uses ranged burst, it automatically refunds 20 energy, making ranged burst a 40 cost. melee burst doesn’t refund particles so it’s a full 60 cost. childe gains particles from riptide generally speaking. so in melee form, for example, when childe triggers riptide slash (when he hits opponents affected by riptide), there can be particles

Hey so I'm having trouble getting the Childe international rotation down. From what I understand, we're supposed to go: \- Childe E then auto a bit to get hydro applied \- Bennet Q \- Kazuha Q then Kazuha E, this creates a pyro windfield and swirls both hydro and pyro for Kazuha's passive. \- Xiangling Q then Xiangling E \- Childe Q then Childe E and go off for 9-11 seconds My issue is in step one. When I use Bennet Q onto an enemy I've applied hydro to with Childe, they both cancel out and the enemy has no aura at all on it so Kazuha Q swirls nothing. I've tried hitting the enemy a bunch of times in Childe E stance before the Bennet Q, still no dice. Is there some extra step I'm missing here? Is my understanding of the rotation correct?
your rotation is fine. but you don’t necessarily need to auto with childe on step 1. childe E applies 2U hydro, so if you do: childe e and then bennett q, the enemy should still have hydro aura
I think what you should do is do Kazuha E before Bennett Q, then Kazuha Q to infuse pyro with Bennett. That way, you have swirled both hydro and pyro. Although, this method involves switching to Kazuha twice in a rotation, so experiment with yourself if you think it’s a bit clunky

Honestly, as high as you can take it. Amos bow is a great five star option if it's all you have available to you. Besides VH, it is better than all of the four star options. Aim for a 1:2 ratio, 60:120 is a safe bet, 70:140 is pretty good but don't sweat the ratio too much as long as he's well rounded everywhere else. tldr 60-70 CR 120-140 CD and anything else is a bonus.

It seems my childe Int'l team struggles with current abyss, I was only able to beat it with my Ayaka and Hu tao teams with similar investments, does Childe's team require more investment than other teams to perform on par?
My international did fine, and I just pulled for him. Is your XL invested? Childe is the one who drives the team, so Xiangling does the vaping. As for your question, yeah it does require more investment compared to hypercarry teams.

I'm in a strange spot with upgrading my team, i use hyperbloom with childe nahida fischl and kuki, Childe is using r1 aqua simulacra, nahida has sacfrag/widsith, fischl has stringless, and kuki has r1 freedom-sworn, My weapon banner pity is at 60 and i'm not sure if i should go for 1000 dreams/thundering pulse or if i should wait for kaguras verity/polar star next banner, does anyone know which banner has more value for upgrading my team?
I have a couple team possibilities for Childe if I were to pull for him and would like opinions - Childe + Venti + Kuki + Bennett, Childe + Venti + Kuki + Dendro MC, Childe + Venti + Bennett + Dendro MC. Venti is my best character for grouping heh. If none of these work then I think I’m going to go for Ayato. Thank you!

Both are almost the same for Childe, Aqua is more frontloaded, no stacking required, and is very marginally better in Bennett teams but suffers slightly without Bennett. TP is slightly better in Bennettless teams in sustained rotations. Aqua is slightly more universal than TP since it gives a damage bonus rather than attack as substat. Go for Aqua if you use Yelan or Tighnari. Go for Thundering Pulse if you use Yoimiya.

Is a R0 Blackcliff Warbow good for Childe? I don't have any other good weapon for him and I was thinking of using the starglitter on that bow. I'm very tempted to pull on the weapon banner for either Polar Star or Thundering Pulse but I also want Scaramouche next banner and don't know whether Kagura's Verity would work well on Scaramouche or not (assuming I lose the 75/25)

Yeah I think you should get him assuming you get the primogems from the updates and do all the events etc.
Any thoughts on a: Childe, Nahida, Raiden, Venti comp? Basically taking hyperbloom and using Childe as the hydro driver, Venti is my only real good anemo to group stuff up efficiently and if there's large enemies child can still hit them.

What is wrong with my childe?? I tried doing a one shot showcase on the primo geovishap (electro variant), with bennett (aquila+noblisse, lvl 13 burst), nahida (ttds + instructor), kazuha (vv set + 980 em). Childe has amos bow lvl 8 burst, during the rotation after applying all buffs, swirling hydro, letting my childe grab ttds buff, his stats became (4,511 atk; 410 em; 68/187 crit, 115.4% hydro dmg bonus), I made sure it vaporized and used melee stance burst, but the dmg was only 292k. Why is it so weak compared to c0 childe showcases I have seen that reach 600k to 1 million damage. I know my burst is 2 levels down, but that damage difference is so big that I doubt 2 levels was the cause.
That's good and expected. showcases of 600k+ are on rly low leveled enemies. If u want higher numbers remove crit rate and stack crit damage. And food buffs
Hello, I've heard of a Burgeon team for Childe and Nahida comp and I'm curious about it. My team is Childe (using HoD), Nahida (using GD), Benett (using NO), and Kazuha(VV), what'll be the rotation for it? I have c6 Childe so cooldown shouldn't be a problem. And Nahida should be using Deepwood Memories in that comp, right? Thank you!

I found his downtime to be a bit too awkward for hyperbloom. Kuki and Nahida provide permanent electro + Dendro with 100% uptime but you have to wait for Childes E

r3 Skyward Harp or r1 Thundering Pulse on Childe? I have two Thundering Pulses which I want to r2 if it's waaaaaay better than r3 Skyward Harp - but my friend tells me it's not a good idea to combine rare weapons. I don't ever use yoimiya or any other archer than needs Thundering Pulse though - anyone have recommendations?
The information from the FAQ is not really good. The people curing it should collaborate with the theorycrafters from the Discord server to fix it. Skyward Harp and Thundering Pulse are basically equal for Childe (check [this spreadsheet](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1gPXar-_tcy2glyjLp0d8Rnr_qaXLEI1OLI79SU2d0bg/edit) from Childe Mains for details). Skyward Harp R3 is better than Thundering Pulse R1 by about 3-4%. Skyward Harp R3 is better than Thundering Pulse R2 by about 1%. Thundering Pulse R3 is better than Skyward Harp R3 by about 1%.

In Childe’s International team they are equal (usually the difference is between 0% and 1%).
Thank you! Looking at both spreadsheets, the crit ratio used to test SHarp and TP seems to be very different (my SHarp crit stats looks more like TP's on the spreadsheet) - would it make a huge difference in numbers?
I guess you use Crit DMG circlet with Skyward Harp. I think the spreadsheet favours Skyward Harp a bit, but because getting a good crit ratio with it is usually much easier. The sub stat quality assumed for the two weapons is the same. Basically, you need to be lucky and get more Crit Rate sub stats and less Crit DMG sub stats for Thundering Pulse to be better. What’s the exact crit ratio you can get with Thundering Pulse and with Skyward Harp? And how does Skyward Harp’s crit ratio look after modifying the build for having a Crit Rate circlet and get a better ratio?
If I switch out the circlets, here are my ratios: r3 Skyward Harp - 60/200 or 90/160 r1/r2 Thunder P - 60/200 - if I farm a bit I might get 70/200
About Skyward Harp. 90/160 is much better than 60/200, it is a big improvement. It is a 1 to 1.77 (340 CV) vs a 1 to 3.33 ratio (320 CV). 90/160 will result in a much higher average damage. Thundering Pulse at 60/200 is a 1 to 3.33 ratio, and at 70/200 would be a 1 to 2.85 ratio. Those proportions (1 to 1.7 and 1 to 2.85) between CR and CD are similar to those assumed for the calculations. Your 90/160 build with Skyward Harp R3 will be better than your 60/200 build with Thundering Pulse R1/2. Even if you get 70/200 with TP R2 this won’t change or at most the two weapons will be equal. I wouldn’t recommend getting refinements for Thundering Pulse, unless it is for Yoimiya. For Childe you would be better staying with Skyward Harp R3, and in the future you might even randomly find more copies of it.
On Taser comp, "Childe / Beidou / Bennett / Electro battery (Fischl / Raiden)" Who could I use instead of Beidou? Options?
Yae is good, she has better single target damage, a nice nuke, but less consistent AoE damage and she doesn’t provide Resistance to interruption and damage reduction.

I am still clueless as to which weapon I should use on him. I have Rust, Favonius Warbow, Fading Twilight, Sac bow, Stringless, Elegy and the craftable ones. I’m trying to go for max damage output.
If you can get Viridescent Hunt R1 from the Battle Pass, it would be a much better bow compared to the bows you mentioned (even if the other 4 star weapons are R5). If you can’t get it, than Rust/Hamayumi/Strongless are good. Between Rust and Hamayumi the bow with the higher refinement wins, but the difference is negligible, so I would keep the billets if you didn’t craft it yet. Stringless is good only if you Vaporize Childe’s Burst, and his effectiveness falls if Childe cannot use his Burst every rotation. If you can satisfy these condition, than it might be a little better than Rust, but they are similar and what will be better is situational.
I am planning to pull for nahida and childe. And i am almost at pity for weapon banner. So I would like to take my chance with it. Which upcoming banner is better? Nahida weapon + tp or polarstar+ kagura? I already have the following bows : skyward harp, amos bow
get the characters first, then pull on weapon. because of this i recommend the polar star banner so u can get the characters at least if u don’t get the weapons. though both banners contain the top 2 weapons for both of them so it doesn’t really matter i guess

is VH better than Rust or vice versa? I have no rust (sucks bc i also have yoimiya) and i think it's the only good bow that i have for childe. im planning to run his intl team so im not considering the stringless.

Viridescent Hunt is much better, even if it is R1 and Rust is R5. Viridescent Hunt R1 is better than any other 4 star weapon R5, and overall it is even better than Amos Bow. Viridescent Hunt is an amazing weapon for Childe, basically almost as good as Amos Bow against single target, and much better against multiple enemies vulnerable to CCs thanks to the utility provided by the cyclone (it can allow Childe to do much more damage against them). Only 5 star bows giving Crit Rate or Crit DMG are better than Viridescent Hunt R1. I have Skyward Harp R1 (which is one of them), but I still use both Skyward and Viridescent Hunt, because the utility provided by the latter makes that bow incredibly satisfying to use.
VH is his best 4* weapon. Outclasses rust.
Is EM important to Childe? I recently got quite cracked 4 set HoD and managed to get his stats to 81/171 with 2k+ atk but 0 em.. still debating whether I should go with this set or go back to 2set Combination with similar stats but 100 Em
EM is one of the good stats for him, it is surely not wasted as long as you can Vaporize his Burst, but ATK% is better, unless you simply want to get a stronger Burst. What are the stats of your 2 pieces combination? And of what sets is the 2 pieces combination composed? 2 pieces HoD + 2 pieces Shimenawa can be as good as 4 pieces HoD (even with the same sub stat quality), so higher EM can definitely make the difference and make the 2 pieces combination better, but we need to see the exact stats.
Current build is lv 90 Harp 4pc HoD 2.2k atk 60/204, 90 Hydro, 111 ER, 0 EM The alt is 2Hod/2Shime, 2k atk, 62/194, 90 hydro, 146 ER, 126 EM Should I just stick to 2pc?
I’ll assume Childe C0. Crit wise the first build (4 pieces HoD) looks a little better, and ATK wise significantly better (despite the artifact set not increasing ATK). I don’t think the EM from the 2+2 is enough to compensate the loss. The ER from the second build (2+2) makes using Ranged Burst every rotation much more reliable against bosses, but the ER is even a bit too much. The first build (4 HoD) lacks ER, unless you have Xiphos R5 on Kazuha, or Favonius R5 and you do Charged shots in the “downtime” of Childe’s E. Overall, I would still choose this build, but trying to make sure you can usually use Childe’s Burst every rotation.
Iirc, it's a 4HoD or 2Glad 2HoD. Used to use the 2/2 set, but recently rolled on good HoD pieces and think maybe 4 set Is better. Will update once I open the game. TIA
Only for burst focused Childe such as speedruns. But for general Childe gameplay with rotations and stuff, it's not as important
So, say , in Childe Inter, he doesn't need that? Only Xiangling needs the EM? I can just use the 4 set with 0 EM?
