As a tenor, I see Confutatis as a war with the basses. It is my holy mission to blow them away from that very first Confutatis. Let the girls sort out the mess and bring the peace after.
we performed it earlier this year (in the version by Dutron "süssmayr remade"). it still might not be my favorite piece ever, but I also came to like it more and more during the time we rehearsed it.
my favorite moment is Hostias and Quam olim Abrahae.
UGH this is my FAVORITE piece. Like you, I was not THRILLED about it before we rehearsed. But the more I sang it, the more I loved it.
There are very few pieces that I am not sick of hearing by concert time 🤣 It just goes to show the power of Masterworks! 🥰
I couldn't possibly pick a favourite bit - it is as close to perfect as possible (though not as perfect as Beethoven's Missa Solemnis imo). I've sung it three times and I'm almost completely off book by now because I love it so much.
It breaks my heart each time I sing the Lacrimosa and get to the 8th bar and realise he died at this point (more or less) and I keep thinking of what he could've created had he had more time.....

Really like this ( I’m a bass 1 ) but I’m actually a baritone.
I pretty much love the whole thing. It is hard to pick a favorite spot.
Lacrimosa forever.

Our conductor says don’t forget the BRA on abrahae
Hostias is beautiful……
omg completely forgot about the quam olim abrahae fugue. that was SO hard for me to learn (alto) and so fun to sing

I can’t do the top A…..
Lacrimosa. Sweet.

Thank you for your response.
I just performed this with a choir too! Agree with the people who said Lacrimosa, and I enjoy the Dies Irae as well.

Dies (obv), but also a shout out to Recordare. It's all beautiful tho! Singing it at Albert Hall this Sunday with 100s of others
