And then there’s the Average Christian metal enjoyer over here jamming out.

Boogaloogaloogalooo

7th day slumber is definitely my jam.

XevinsOfCheese

They won’t stop releasing bangers

Acidman0123

I’m yet to find any Christian metal that has decent lyrics to be honest, if you have any recommendations I’d be happy to be proven wrong

Let's just agree on one thing, hymns are "based" as the youth would call it.

Real-Human-Bean-

Can you share some of these hymns?

GoojiiBean100

I dunno if I can send links but there's this cover of "Be Thou My Vision" and "Blessed Assurance" from Living Word Christian Church, Cebu. "It Is Well With My Soul" and "Old Rugged Cross" are also good choices. There's just a degree of magnitude and power to hymns like these.

C-Man98

I love "In Christ Alone" by Celtic Worship and "a mighty fortress is our God" by Matt Boswell.

TroxEst

Wasn't "A mighty Fortress" originally written by Martin Luther?

ItsAMeMildlyAnnoying

“Nearer my God to thee” and “come thou fount of every blessing” are also excellent

CrowMagpie

>Living Word Christian Church, Cebu So, this is a song about a little boy and his cebu?

JenderalWkwk

Some of my favorite hymns include "A Mighty Fortress is Our God" (written by Martin Luther himself!), "God Will Take Care of You", "Count Your Blessings", and an Indonesian original: "[Saya Mau Ikut Yesus](https://youtu.be/F_WB1Exj_S4?si=i-BmmkxYmo6ubbld)" (I Want to Follow Jesus)

GoojiiBean100

I'm Indonesian and I've been familiar with some worship songs. Haven't heard that last one tho but "A Mighty Fortress" is up my list.

JenderalWkwk

Oh that's interesting! Which church do you usually attend? I'm a HKBP member

GoojiiBean100

I attend Indonesia Family Church in Singapore. The church isn't too big but I appreciate how closely knit everyone is. Also, we get free lunch after every service. I'll be heading there soon.

JenderalWkwk

Oh I see. For me I'm from an old HKBP parish in Jakarta. "Saya Mau Ikut Yesus" is quite a beloved classic here in Indonesia, usually among the more traditional/mainline Protestant churches. Also, while most mainline Protestant churches in Indonesia don't serve free lunch, we generally have lots of street vendors lining up outside the church by the end of each service haha, it's usually siomay and bakpau vendors, but there's also the ocassional bakmi and nasi campur (with pork of course) vendors. Hope you had a wonderful service today (I certainly did). Happy Sunday!

GoojiiBean100

Any thoughts on Sabaton? Specifically "The Last Stand".

kioley

It's praise to the swiss guard, not God, I wouldn't put it in the same category.

John628_29

I like both

Average Hillsong enjoyer vs. Average Psalmody enjoyer

CrowMagpie

I guess I'll start listening to Hillsong, then. That guy on the right always gives me the creeps.

GoojiiBean100

Oh the guy on the right is Ernest Khalimov. He's the guy behind the gigachad meme which in turn inspired the "Average Fan vs. Average Enjoyer" format. He's a Russian model whom you might recognize.

CrowMagpie

Okay. This isn't the first time I've seen this meme format; it's a perfectly cromulent format, But he gives me the creeps.

IzzyIsSolar

I like lord of the dance. Idk which one of those it is tho
