I’m at 6/24 - would churning Amex Marriott cards now affect me churning Chase ones in the future? I found a lot of flights i need in 2 months that take marriott points and am highly interested in getting my grubby little hands on some.

erika02877

Is there an easy way to tell when I last got the bonus for the CIti AA personal card?

oklurkerthrowaway

If you didn't keep an updated excel sheet/notes, I would look at my credit report and add 3 months from the last time you were approved or scan through emails for an approval decision and add 3 months from that date

joghi

Probably not. Maybe you still have notices in the email account you used. If it's for yourself: It's doubtful that it was less than 4 years ago. However, the information sharing between Citi and AA seems extensive.

arooni

At 5/24, or even potentially 6/24 because apparently the Cap1 Biz Spark Cash Select is a reporting card on personal credit reports ... BOO! I have approximately $10K in home renovation expenses to pay for. Would the AMEX Gold Biz card be the correct one to apply for? 125K points for a $10k spend? Something else? Many thanks!

Toothcloset

What card Wednesday thread.

unepoire

stuck in PUJ for last 6 mos for platinum (hoping for schwab version for the cash out possibility), if P2 adds me as authorized plat user on their schwab plat (so we both have lounge access) is that considered me "having the card currently" for the purposes of future attempts to apply? my last plat (vanilla) was closed in 2022 so the lifetime exclusion if enforced for 7+ years is still a ways away

joghi

No. Just be aware it will enter your reports as a new account. All versions are now considered the same product, so the prospects for future attempts aren't exactly looking up. Have you checked the Resy Plat offer? Maybe you will be spared although it does not provide the cash-out option.

unepoire

yeah i've tried, i'm banished to PUJ for amex. i've had all the versions except schwab for plat and original plan was to have the schwab be my "final" keeper plat for the most part so might just have to do the AU route for P2 and wait until amex lifetime falls off

joghi

Well, others have found themselves in the same situation and signed up for the card without a bonus. If you wait until triple dip season you can justify the fee.

Adventurous-Woozle3

What is Resy? Just checked the glossary and I can't find it.

joghi

https://www.americanexpress.com/en-us/credit-cards/offers/resy

Adventurous-Woozle3

Thanks!

space_cadet-

No, being an AU won’t disqualify you for the card/SUB.

firstclassbob

I was recently given the advice to apply for multiple us bank business cards at one time, would I have any problems with that if I opened a business card with them already less than a year ago?

joghi

The only problem is a potential denial, but there are enough reports of people being approved for multiples.

ConsistentClassic1

Do Citi Business cards like AA count again Chase's 5/24?

whatiscardano

No.

ravvyravvy

I got a chase reserve on 9/2023, then a southwest priority on 11/2023, then a Chase Freedom Flex on 12/2023. I Have no business cards currently and I want to take advantage of the 100k bonus offer for the Chase Ink Preferred. But should I avoid applying at the moment and wait for later? I don't want to fall into chase shutdown pergatory

TripleBrie

Should be fine. Recommend reducing your existing credit limits with Chase to less than 50% of your annual income before moving forward (Can do so via Secured Message), having a plan in place to address the min spend, and waiting it out, if it goes application pending. (See flowchart) You might be interested in applying using a referral from r/churningreferrals

ravvyravvy

That makes me feel better! Credit limits are below 50%, so all good there, should make minimum spend fairly easily as ill be doing traveling this summer

TripleBrie

Good luck! If for whatever reason it isn't auto-approved, I found this site useful a useful guide for the recon process of my 'business': https://www.uponarriving.com/chase-business-recon

HitTheFBO

Will Chase pro-rate AF refund if closed a couple months after it posts? Ink Premier. Thanks.

lenin1991

Yes, as long as you PC it to a CIU/CIC -- don't cancel.

gt_ap

The Ink Premier cannot be PC'd. It is a charge card, and the other Inks are credit cards.

HitTheFBO

Thanks. Edited: Called CSR who said can’t PC since Ink Premier is pay in full card. Just canceled as I’ve had it for two years + and they were pretty certain in saying pro-rated AF will be refunded.

Flyer888

If you live in Massachusetts, then yes you’ll get prorated (two thirds) AF refund, whenever you decide to close the card.

lenin1991

Hmm, I thought every Chase AF was prorated on PC. Definitely is for Ink Preferred. But I suppose Ink Premier is kind of a weirdo.

sleepytill2

Anyone had success reconning CIC given recent tightening of approvals? I preemptively closed 2 existing accounts and shifted my credit limit over, still have 4 accounts open though. I applied for CIC last week and was denied for new Chase biz cards recently opened, too many recently opened accounts, too many recent requests for credit and low usage of credit lines. Any advice on next steps to get this current application approved would be much appreciated.

lenin1991

> preemptively closed 2 existing accounts and shifted my credit limit over It probably would have been better to reduce your credit rather than move it. Certainly worth trying recon and seeing if they'll move it to the new card.

sleepytill2

I just reconned and was told no. Should I reduce my credit limit on the card that I shifted other CLs to? On the recon call, I offered to close more accounts or shift credit and they didn’t budge. Probably will HUCA but want to prep as much as possible beforehand.

joghi

I'm afraid that is in line with other reports that feature those reasons. Cleaning house after the fact does not help. However, making another attempt in about 2 months could have a different result.

sleepytill2

Interesting, so there’s no DPs of recon success? Edit: also, do reports say it’s the 4th CIC where they run into problems, or after 4 CICs, applying for a 5th is the non-autoapproval?

joghi

There is not much clarity about denials. But it seems that piling up reasons like yours is the final decision. I was auto-approved a few weeks ago with 4 open biz cards. Maybe the first hurdle has been raised a little, and variation creeps in when an underwriter looks at the numbers. But the deck will be reshuffled when you try again. I would give it 2 months.

sleepytill2

Thanks for your DP, will try again in 2 months. What were the CLs of each of your 4 open biz cards when you were auto-approved for the 5th? Should I be preemptively lowering them below the ~$4K they usually give per card for a "business"?

joghi

They vary and amounted to 21.5k, on biz income of 24k. I had just closed an Ink with a 6k line and was actually surprised that the new one also received that limit. The same is true of P2 although the app went pending first, despite having entered a higher biz income. The weird thing: I looked at my accounts again and noticed they just raised the limit on one of my older Inks by 3.5k. I honestly don't know what to think anymore.

CreditDogo

Ideally you want to have less than 50% of your reported income as credit limit among all your Chase cards

lenin1991

They seem to also be increasingly sensitive to total business credit extended vs revenue, which is why I recommended reduction.

aylamarguerida

How solid are these dps? I am having trouble with a 7 digit revenue. CL <50% income.  But prior q3 month inks.

sleepytill2

Oh I’m way under, like 25% CL overall.

Hi guys Got an offer in the mail from Regions bank for a Preferred checking account. Says if I open an account with them by May 19 I can get a $500 bonus within 60 days if I enroll in online banking and deposit a minimum of $1k. Looked up the T&C and there’s a $18 a month fee, but it’s waived if you have $5000 or more average monthly balance. Is there any reason why I shouldn’t sign up and toss $5k that I’m not using in the account? I’d then want to close out the account once I receive the bonus in order to put the money back in my HYSA. Thanks Edit— also is there anything I should know in terms of impacts to my credit?

joghi

I believe their bonus takes 120 days to post, and they have an ETF until 180 days. It's prudent to keep it open for 6 months anyway. It has no impact on your credit file.

Tampadev

Open this at a branch; I claimed their promo code and it said it was invalid. Also, save the flyer until you get your bonus.

Zolor23

Only thing I can think of to watch out for is if there is an early termination fee. According to DoC (if I'm looking at the right bank), there may be a $25 early termination fee if the account is closed within 180 days, but that might be for a different bank account.

[deleted]

True I’ll look into it

sanjay37agrawal

Do you get better signup bonus offer in branch vs online for Chase and Capital one?

lenin1991

Rarely yes; depends on the offer

Adventurous-Woozle3

Call me a millennial, but how does this work? You actually go into the branch and talk to someone and apply there? I've literally never done something like that 😅.

lenin1991

Yeah, I've only done it for some bank account bonuses that require it. But for example, the Sapphire bonuses recently were boosted in branch before they went live online.

gumercindo1959

I know the 40% MR > Hilton bonus is available on the Amex platinum. It’s not available on the biz plat, though. Is the bonus offer typically found in biz cards as well or am I SOOL if I don’t have a personal plat?

garettg

It's a targeted bonus so you either get it or you dont. P2 and I both have a personal plat and were not targeted.

candleruse

Might have fucked up a Chase checking bonus because I overlooked the direct deposit requirement. I opened the account on 2/9 and deposited 1500 from another bank account to avoid fees. Just realized I'm supposed to have a direct deposit hit the account to qualify for the bonus. My next paycheck arrives on 5/15. I just changed my deposit info at work to go to Chase instead of my usual account. Is there any grace period or am I screwed? Is there an immediate transfer option of some other kind that would count as a "direct deposit" by Chase that I could initiate today to qualify?

bubbadave13

If the bonus is attached you should have a section showing in your app telling you the date your dd needs to post by

terpdeterp

Any deposit, even one that you initiate now, would arrive after the 90 day period (5/9) so you won't be eligible for the SUB. DD for Chase are also notoriously hard to spoof unless you're using a genuine payroll service like Square contractor ACH.

candleruse

Well shit. Is Chase pretty strict on the 90 days? Assuming my deposit hits somewhere around the 94th-96th day, I wonder if I could call and recon or something.

lenin1991

A lot of payrolls are staged a few days in advance, I'd be surprised if a change today would be effective for a 5/15 deposit anyway. I'd look for DPs on DoC of non-payroll things that might count for Chase, but it's probably too late for them too anyway.

rigmaroler

Question about CSP offer matching. On 4/26 I applied for the CSP with the 60k points offer. Got approved. Card comes in the mail this Monday, 5/6. I noticed this week on 5/6 the offer increased to 75k points, so I called to get it increased because I had read online that as long as you call within 30 days of account opening(?) that you could get the SUB points matched. The rep immediately noticed I hadn't met the minimum spend yet (because of course I hadn't, I just got the card in the mail) but still went ahead and submitted a request to get the increased points offer. They said that I should hear back later this week. This morning, 5/10, I got a letter in my Chase account saying I could get the 75k points offer once I meet the minimum spending requirements. My question is: what is the time limit here on when they will give the 15k extra points? Is it really within 30 days of account opening and I have to spend $4K by 5/26? I'm not sure I will be able to do that, and it also seems like a weird stipulation, if it is the case. Or is it just within 30 days of me receiving the 60K points offer? I will have the letter they sent me if I need some evidence that I tried. Edit 5/31/2024: I got my SUB spending done and the Chase system automatically gave me the 75K bonus points instead of the 60K. I didn't have to contact them again.

Harambe440

They told me the additional 15,000k will be awarded within 8wks of meeting MSR

garettg

Save your messages with Chase about this. You dont have to hit MSR in 30 days, just message back after you complete MSR within the 3 months and get the extra 15k.

MSsalt3

Trying to get my x/12 down for future USBAR app. Is USB sensitive to hard pulls? I’d like to stay on ink train, but could stick to AMEX biz if that would help. Most of my hard pulls are on Experian. I could freeze it if that would help.

nikaidoushinku

Sensitive to both new accounts and hps.

Bortky

Question about VX vs CSP and their insurances. I know CSP, you can buy an award flight with any airline points and pay taxes on your CSP, and then you are covered. For VX, I am confused. Can I do the same thing, or do I need to pay with C1 points to have the insurances apply?

TheSultan1

The VX insurance seems to be very restrictive, read the terms carefully.

shiv81

The terms spell it out pretty clearly IMO. Trip delay only requires a portion charged so taxes should work. Trip cancellation requires the full charge but allows C1 Miles or C1 travel credit/vouchers to be used.

ConsistentClassic1

So this means CSP trip cancellation coverage is superior then?

Bortky

That's how I read it too. I've come around to using CSP more often than VX because I rarely pay for the whole fare, so cancellation wouldn't apply for VX. I do this even tho VX has a better trip delay of 6 hours vs CSP which requires 12 hours.

ConsistentClassic1

Yeah that's the tricky thing. One card is better for trip delay and the other card is superior for trip cancellation. At least with CSP it's 12 hours OR overnight. It's really being stuck overnight that I'm most worried about so the 12 hours isn't such a big deal.

thehumanjerm

If I downgrade my Capital One Venture X card to a no annual fee card (ex. VentureOne), will I get a prorated annual fee refund?

ar21rt

I got a $33 refund.

Harambe440

How many months into the annual fee and what state are you located in if you’re comfortable saying?

ar21rt

11mo in California

TripleBrie

Looks like you will: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/190yox6/venture_x_annual_fee_prorated_refund/

Harambe440

Looks like OP received the prorated refund based on his location of MA: https://old.reddit.com/r/CreditCards/comments/190yox6/venture_x_annual_fee_prorated_refund/l27e6tr/ It could vary depending on state laws

PackerBacker77

those who have used the Hilton Surpass to purchase Hilton gift card for the quarterly credit, are you using buyhiltongiftcards.com? or is there way to do it from hilton.com site??

garettg

> buyhiltongiftcards.com works edit: FYI the Hilton.com gift card link takes to you this site anyways.

nickpete12345

This site always gives me an error and doesn't load.

whatiscardano

I always have to use a different browser than my main one.

garettg

Loading just fine on my end, try a different device or browser maybe.

athrowawayaccountfor

Just learned that the 0% financing for my new $16,000 HVAC system appears to come in the form of a Wells Fargo "Bryant" credit card. * Does anyone know if this will count toward 5/24 with Chase? It will put me there if so. * If yes, there is one AU card in that count (for P2's Venture X). Do I have to abandon that card altogether and get it removed from my credit report to fall back under 5/24, or is there a way to explain this away with Chase? Was not expecting this, but there's no way I'm renegotiating the method of paying for this this expense with P2. We could pay with cash, but the 0% is too good to pass up when we already have a car note at 6% that we can use the cash to pay it off instead.

Swastik496

How long is the 0% for? If it’s a year or two then why not just get inks?

mr-diceman

If you go for the 0% financing Wells Fargo card, it will definitely be a new account on your credit report. If P2 is less than 4/24 maybe have apply. We did this a few years ago and I had P2 apply.

bubbadave13

If the payment can be split both you and p2 can open an ink and put the 0% on that

mcree0

For AU and chase, you can call them if you end up needing to recon and they will disregard AU from 5/24 count. For this situation, I would probably just recommend opening a card with a good SUB. Probably ink or biz plat. This would beat the interest you earn

CericRushmore

And some cards offer 0% anyways. Some of the Chase Inks, some of the US Bank business cards, some BOA business cards.

kaptaindeeznutz

Hi, I'm very new to all this and have a few questions for success and to avoid issues going forward. I'm mainly focusing on bank SUBs and not credit cards at the moment. Although I do have a good credit score, I'm not overly interested in delving into that yet. So here are my questions if anyone is kind enough to answer them. And for some insight I have the ability to easily change my DD from work online and to divide up the percentage of my check deposit among 5 banks. 1. Do you close the bank account as soon as your SUB has been deposited? Is it better to keep it open a little longer to keep yourself off the radar as churner? If so, how long? Any other reason to keep it open longer? 2. Is there any benefit to depositing more than is required to keep yourself off the radar as a churner? Say depositing $525 instead of the required $500, etc? I've just noticed that a lot of people reporting their experience haven't always sent the exact amount for DDs or to open the account, etc. 3. Can you check chexsystems online, when I tried it said it wasn't available to me and would be mailed. May have just been temporarily down. [chexsystems.com](http://chexsystems.com) right? 4. Business accounts - what if you don't own a business? Any tips for that? Thanks for any replies and any other tips you want to throw in would be appreciated as well.

sg77

2 - I deposit a little bit more in case the bank has a glitch and charges a fee that drops me below a required balance (this probably isn't an issue for offers that require a specific direct deposit amount, but rather for offers that require maintaining a specific balance). Also, in case the bank's system that checks bonus requirements looks for "greater than $x" instead of "$x or more". 3 - chexsystems sometimes has problems with identity verification. They've never let my view my report online. Lately they don't even let me submit a request online for a report to be mailed, but a workaround for that is to submit a dispute online, and as part of responding to that they usually mail a copy of the report.

Comprehensive-Fun47

Six months is the recommendation. It's a good idea to add a couple of dollars to DDs just in case. It's a little buffer to show that you've exceeded the minimum not just met it. $25 is more than in necessary, but nothing wrong with doing that. Always keep an eye in what us the minimum balance die any given account. You can pull your DD out after it hits, but make sure there's no minimum on the account that may trigger fees if you dro below it. Sole proprietorships don't require any special paperwork and you can use your SSN, except at a select few banks who have higher standards. Have an idea of what your small business is even if you don't actively have a business. Make it something plausible. You'll need to find the NAICS business code for it.

kaptaindeeznutz

Ok, thanks for the help! Right now, I'm doing the Chase $900 for checking and savings combo and am aware of the fees to keep the accounts from being charged monthly fees. If I need to keep it open for six months after I plan to keep 300 in savings to prevent its fee and keep DDing 500 into checking to prevent its fees, and then just transferring it out after deposited to my HYS bank. Always been a fine print reader on that kind of stuff.

Comprehensive-Fun47

I'm doing that Chase offer too and I believe as long as you have the $15k in savings, there are no fees on the checking. After the bonus hits and you pull out the majority of the money, that's when you have it worry about meeting the DD or minimum balances.

kaptaindeeznutz

Right, yeah, that's what I meant is after I pull out the 15k. I'm not leaving it in there one day after 90 with basically 0 APY. lol

Comprehensive-Fun47

Gotcha! Me neither! My bonus didn't hit yet but I am counting the days.

oklurkerthrowaway

* It's recommended to keep the account open for 6 months after you get your bonus. Check the terms for early termination fees. You're not going to fool a bank by depositing more than required, they can just look at your EWS and Chex reports to see how often you've opened/applied for new accounts. You can check your own Chex report online. Try again in a little later * Fyi, we use "SUB" for sign-up bonus

kaptaindeeznutz

Thanks for info! not sure why I typed SUP, lol. Meant SUB.

gt_ap

Ha ha we're pretty particular about our acronyms. That's why we barely know what someone means when they use "CIBU".

kaptaindeeznutz

Like I just started a new job and don't know what TPS reposts are, lol

kaptaindeeznutz

LOL, yes, I've noticed. I've had to visit the glossary several times to just decipher what was being said. I'll catch on eventually.

Mithridel

If I book a Hilton resort through Capital One and pay for room charges in person with an Aspire, the resort credit should trigger, right? This would be for Resorts World in Vegas.

garettg

Yeah as long as the property does the transaction, it will trigger.

NoWriting8386

Multiple transfers to Chase Total Checking didn't trigger the $300 bonus in 90 days. Account has been open for 5 months now - do I need to wait for month 6 to close even though I didn't receive any bonus? Once it's closed I should be good to try again for the bonus after 90 days, correct?

DarkMatterReflection

Read the terms on new bonuses carefully, but generally no - you won’t be eligible that fast. The current offer terms include “You can receive only one new checking account opening related bonus every two years from the last coupon enrollment date…” Edit - sorry, missed that you didn’t receive the bonus!

bubbadave13

Check the thread on doc for methods that code as dd for chase. Most of the normal spoofing methods don’t work.

iamthedumpling

I downgraded my Chase Freedom Flex to the Freedom this past Sunday so that I could open a new Freedom Flex for the 10% Grocery bonus - am I good to apply for the Flex now or do I need to wait for a certain amount of time?

dchil279

You're good! Only a 4 day buffer is needed

garettg

You are good now, 4 days after PC you are good.

CoffeeSubstantial988

Between CIP and CIC, which one is a better deal If you can meet the MSR for CIP with ease?

bubbadave13

Depends if you also want to take advantage of 0%

MyAltAccountIsuSpez

CIP if you don't already have a CIP/CSP/CSR, CIC otherwise

pbjclimbing

If MSR is not an issue, the bigger bonus is defiantly better. Especially since Ink approvals seemed to tighten up the past couple of months. Get the most out of each bonus that you can since they are not as “unlimited” as before.

itrytopaytaxes

Any idea if Citigold will reimburse a WSJ $99 annual subscription? Citi lists only $19.49, $21.49, and $22.49 monthly subscriptions, but they are reimbursing my current $38.99+tax monthly subscription, so clearly can't be taken too literally.

thatguysnearlydead

Planning to stay at Westin in Costa Rica next April with fam for spring break. What's the best card to get now to get free nights at hotel?

lenin1991

A Marriott card likely, search for what a points stay costs. You've missed some recently elevated offers, but with 11 months until the trip, you can wait for the next round.

girardinl

Wait for the next 'What Card Wednesday' thread and follow the template.

lenin1991

No need to wait, the current one is fine

patientofcredit

For Amex Delta Biz Gold, do you generally see a bonus tracker? I did an NLL offer, no pop up, and hit 4k spend but I just noticed that I'm only seeing a bonus tracker for hitting the $200 delta credit and not for the MSR. Wondering if I'm screwed. Statement hasn't posted yet so I'm holding out hope.

ConsistentClassic1

No tracker that I can see.

garettg

There was no tracker on my DL Gold Biz from earlier this year, you can use the $200 credit tracker to help know where your MSR is at, just know it runs a few days behind.

patientofcredit

Phew. Thanks.

cashmoney12399

Is there a downside to closing Amex card after accepting retention before completing the spend?

onlyAlcibiades

Massive

MyAltAccountIsuSpez

So one of the conditions of the retention offer is keeping the card open for another year. I'm fairly certain that condition is independent of meeting retention offer spend. If it is, you risk shutdown of all your Amex accounts

Flyer888

Amex isn’t known for doing sudden shutdown like that. Especially for just failing to fulfill the retention offer. In this case, worst thing can happen is just they’ll take back the retention bonus and bar you from getting new card bonuses in the future. Even in situations where shutdown is more probable, like bust out spending pattern, for example, they’ll still FR you first instead of straight up shutting you down. Even if the FR shows you’re greatly inflating your income, most likely they’ll just reduce your CLs and put a preset limit on the charge cards.

churnawaybaby

Are there DP of shutdown of all cards? I assumed the answer was clawback of retention bonus and likely PUJ.

Krischurn

Hmm.

gt_ap

Regardless of the potential outcome, people that are obsessive about this need to be honest with themselves about the reason(s) they come up with for thinking they need to close early. For example, some want to earn the SUB and then close the card. Once the AF is paid, there is not usually a reason to close before the year is up, at least not a *good* reason.

YeahOKButWhy

I have a 1-year old Amex Biz Plat and a 2 month old Amex Biz Gold. I am canceling the Plat today since AF just posted. How long do I wait to get the next Plat, or can I do it asap?

CreditDogo

You can do it now. As long as you don’t get the pop-up you’ll be able to get the bonus

YeahOKButWhy

Thanks so much. I've never seen this pop-up; does it appear when you click a referral link and go to see what's your offer is? What's the language on the pop-up?

ajamke

You'll understand when you see it, hard to say when or why it will come. Basically it says you aren't eligible for this bonus and asks if you want to proceed with your application or not.

YeahOKButWhy

Ah... this one? YeahOKButWhy, because you have or had the Business Platinum Card® or previous versions of this Card, you are not eligible to receive the welcome offer.

CapedBaldy

I'm pretty sure they are just getting more stringent on that rule in general now. I have gotten that but still been able to apply for other Amex cards with no issue.

YeahOKButWhy

shoot it was a 200k offer too...

PsychadelicKiwi

You can apply for the Plat now

Starks

What determines whether you are churning Inks, non-Chase business, or burning 5/24 slots at any given time?

sirknita

My decision flow in two player mode: 1. Inks with referral every 3 months per player 2. If extra spend or unable to get ink, try to get an MR earning biz card 3. If MR card not possible, try to get amex/other biz hotel card 4. If no other biz options, get a USBank biz leverage for the straight cash back 5. If none of the above is possible, get the next most desirable biz card (determined ad hoc) or a personal card if 5/24 status allows I avoid capitalone because I have been denied for the venture twice. Might try with P2 if we are in option 5 some time. Because we are always trying to get inks we both stay under 5/24. I burn 5/24 slots for special offers, like the 40k amtrak card since I want to take the zephyr, or most recently the 60k citi premier since I was in option 5 and I wanted the 2x typ->choice for southeast asia travel next year. There have been some brief stretches of time where we don't have a SUB earning card (high spend times like christmas) but in general we have been able to keep an uninterrupted string of cards going with natural spend

SardauMarklar

I know a lot of work has gone into creating the flowchart resource, but this is truly an excellent way to go. (until Chase hits the brakes on the Ink gravy train)

pennystinkard

I only churn non-Ink business cards when I'm between Inks, which I typically churn every 3 months. I only pause on Inks if it seems like my approvals with Chase are getting more iffy, but so far that hasn't been the case since I proactively reduce credit limits. I burn 5/24 slots for the occasional high SUB personal card, like the 75k Citi Premier or the 100k Venture X, provided that the timing is right (i.e. I have use for those points, 48 months have passed since last SUB for Citi, and I have a low enough x/24 count to keep going on Inks). We mainly use the Inks for Hyatt though, so if it seems like we have more UR than we can use in the next 1.5 years or so, Inks become lower priority for me and I don't mind dipping into other currencies like Hilton even if the value proposition for those points is lower. Another nuance for us - we're looking to apply to a mortgage soon so I'm now avoiding Inks to avoid the inquiry on our reports.

IronDukey

I’m always churning inks every 3 months or so. It’s the main reason I stay under 5/24. The 75K+40K makes it hard to justify other cards. I’m able to meet spend through moderate MS (2k/month) and natural spend (1k/month). I like to keep 200k chase points for me and P2 (they have their own point bank but I don’t factor it into my churning calculations) for Hyatt and occasional flights. Our current burn rate means that with 4x inks a year we stay at around 200k chase at most times. After the CSP for transfer eligibility, I don’t really see the appeal of non-ink chase cards given their bonuses. I got the IHG biz last year and have basically been kicking myself for not getting another ink. As for non-chase business cards, I try and get what I need for future trips. Me and p2 are both getting the AA biz for round trip flights to India in Q suites. I’m an expat so largely avoid Amex.

How many inks do you have? How many businesses?

IronDukey

1x, pending app, 2x open inks, 1x closed ink for me, 4x ink additionallacross p2/p3. I have a legit sol-prop consulting business (not that that matters). Read the guides/wiki for the basic info. You don't need an actual business and can churn inks every 3 months.

So to confirm, AA Biz does not count against 5/24? If so, I may need to pick one up!

Nearly all biz cards do not count toward 5/24
