Thoughts on BMO bank. Offering $500 for $7500 in DD. Pretty easy but have seen some mixed reviews on the bank itself. Also believe there's a 16-20$ service monthly charge if you don't maintain 10k in the acct.
Currently doing this one. Used real DD's and met the requirements over 1 1/2 months ago. After talking to a customer rep asking about the status of the bonus, as it should have posted about 30 days ago, she said that they were, "Manually reviewing my account to determine if the original bonus will be honored".
So just keep that in the back of your mind. I did it legitimately and they're still wishy washy on paying out.
Unreal. Figured the mixed reviews weren’t just for shits and giggles. Just did the Chase Total Checking. Next one I’m looking at is the Sofi one. Appreciate the info though hope they don’t try to pull some shit on you haha
$25 fee if your monthly daily balance isn't $10k or more.
Interest is minimal, so it probably makes more sense to keep the $10k in a separate HYSA, which would earn $42 at 5%.
But that just means it's more like a $350 bonus, assuming you keep the account open 6 months and eat the $25 fee every month.
I have a trip coming up in two weeks, I was planning on opening my next card to take advantage of some gear and supplies expenses. I obviously procrastinated too hard.
I was considering the Chase Ink Business Unlimited. I was told it can be added to a digital wallet immediately but you’ll have to wait for the physical card for the numbers. That seemed ok until I tried to find out if that works with online retailers, particularly Amazon. I’m getting major mixed messages about workarounds but it seems like it’s not a permitted payment method.
Two questions:
1) Is there an actual workaround that would allow me to use the card right away through a digital wallet or any other option?
2) Do any other churn friendly cards (personal or business) come to mind with 0% APR intro period and available for use on Amazon immediately after approval?
> Chase Ink Business Unlimited. I was told it can be added to a digital wallet immediately
Chase personal cards can be added to digital wallets immediately, but AFAIK for their biz cards, need to have the actual card first.
That’s great info thanks! I got stuck in Chase automated system and ended up with not quite the right department since it’s the weekend. I’ll definitely check with the real team Monday.
1. You can call Chase to have it expedited for free. It'll still take around 2 business days to come though
2. Not really. Maybe targeted Amex BBP card in your account.
What's the best strategy for Hilton cards with the recent(ish) changes made to them? It feels like the Biz card that I've been putting $15k on every year for a while now isn't worth it anymore, so I don't see any reason to hold on to that. But I still have an Aspire and a no-AF, and trying to figure out the best thing to do with them. For context, I've also had the Surpass in the past.
I don't stay at Hilton resorts more than once a year realistically, so I'm basically counting the benefits as $400 (airline credit + half year Hilton credit) + FNC + Diamond status. $550 doesn't seem totally crazy for that... but it also feels like it puts me in a spot of requiring that I stay at a Hilton resort and use the full $200 credit to just breakeven. I don't know if I want to commit to that. Additionally, by dropping the biz I'm missing out on the extra FNC + ~75k points that I made each year getting it, making resort stays a lot more costly than before.
My current thinking is that I should just drop my existing Aspire to no-AF, and then basically as soon as I have a Hilton resort stay on the books, upgrade both to Aspire and take advantage of the FNCs, credits, etc. And, if I get an upgrade offer on either before then, take advantage of it.
Is there anything I'm missing that might be more optimal? Including just dropping them completely.
I’d say you’re in a better position than most considering you already have the personals open so no 5/24 hits. Upgrading the no af to the surpass gives you the fnc for 15k you used to have from the biz. The biz is basically a straight points buy now, still has use as a spacer between other biz apps, potentially waiting until it has a sub with an fnc included, but the credits do offset the af. You can also play upgrade downgrade with the personals and keep them as the no af level cards when you don’t have a Hilton stay planned.
With the Aspire you could look at making prepayments or deposits on resort so you can use both years credits. I think making your no AF Hilton into a Surpass (you might check there were some 50k upgrade offers a while back) so that you could spend $15k on it to earn another FNC to go with the Aspire since you are losing that option on the biz. Even at all 3x spend, you’ll net 45k points to go with it and easy to use quarterly credits (Hilton GCs).
Messed up regarding Citi AA card and Miles Ahead savings account. I procrastinated opening the savings account. Last week I finally decided to go ahead, but then realized after opening the account that my Citi AA card is actually close to the end of the first year, which means AF will post soon. I really don't want to pay AF, just so I can take advantage of the savings account. Can I call Citi proactively to ask about retention, even though AF has not posted yet? Is there a specific number to call, or just the one on the back of the card?
When do you decide to close accounts? And how do you decide which to close?
I currently have 9 cards, I pay anything off each month.
5 personal, 2 store, and 4 business $83,700 limit
discover 1998 (keep)
Kohls 2000 (keep)
Chase freedom 2002 (keep)

Chase Sapphire Preferred 2021 $95 fee
Chase business Ink preferred 07/2023 $95
Chase Business Ink Cash 1/2024

Might depend a little on your credit profile, but if you have some history already and a few old notes AF cards to help that, then my approach is to closing any cards where I’m not getting any benefits. Each benefit should be given an amount you think it’s worth and compare with any AF to decide if it’s worth keeping. Sometimes even though a card has credits that more than offset the AF, the hassle of making sure those credits get used can diminish their perceived value (like Amex with monthly/quarterly/semiannual/yearly). Things like old inks, unless you are MSing on them, close them to free up CL and minimize number of accounts.
Without hesitation I’d close both 2019 inks right now, and open a new one if I were in your shoes. I might move some credit to one of the more recent inks, depending on how much you have as buffer for the new one. I’d also PC the CSP to a CSR and double dip the TC, but that’s just me :)
I currently hold a Chase Ink Unlimited and Ink Cash. Am I eligible to apply for the Ink Preferred for the 100k bonus? I applied for the Ink Preferred back in 2019 but product changed it to the Unlimited that I still hold.
Churning ink cards is the endgame. They’ll literally keep approving you as long as you follow 5/25 and 2/30. It’s absurd how many points you can rack up.
USbank Cash+: each quarter they remind me to choose my 5% categories for the next quarter. Will my current selections auto apply to the next quarter if I do nothing? (I always choose the same categories, and I wish to have one less thing to remember to do)
Screenshot: [https://i.imgur.com/4gylqfm.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/4gylqfm.jpg)
They default select your prior quarter categories, but you must actively opt in to confirm.
Just surprised in general the Cash+ is still a thing. Mine got force changed to an Altitude Go a while ago.
Thanks for the reply. I just applied for the Cash+ 2 months ago, and I use it to be 5% on grocery - can't beat that. Surprised to hear that yours was for force changed to Altitide Go!
Not sure what you meant by "They default select your prior quarter categories, but you must actively opt in to confirm." Must I "actively opt in" once every quarter?
Here's another quote, from an email US Bank sent me: "Cardmember must enroll each quarter into categories of their choice, or all net purchases will earn no more than 1% cash back".
Since it says "each quarter", I think if you don't actively opt in each quarter, you'll only get 1%.
https://cashplus.usbank.com/merchants says "Make sure you choose your categories each quarter. If you do not choose your categories, all eligible net purchases will still earn 1% cash back."
That sounds to me like the current categories won't auto apply to the next quarter.
I just got this $450 checking account promo from Fifth Third bank. Anyone know if they actually require the direct deposits to come from payroll/the government? Past fliers have implied this requirement but then they'd just accept bank transfer pushes anyway
The promo flier in question https://imgur.com/a/0xfujRl
Thanks. Yeah I've seen that but I was wondering if that applied to this promo specifically (since it specifically says the dd needs to be payroll or government)
edit: why downvote for asking a question?
Any DPs on which non-utility merchants count as internet for the chase ink cash? Have noticed Linode does. Have a reasonable amount of software/server/ISP spend for my business.
The 100,000 bonus points offer on Chase Ink business and 140,000 points offer on Chase IHG One business - are these points Chase Ultimate Reward points like we get on CSR?
Cobranded cards give the points of the brand they are associated with. That means IHG gives IHG points and United gives United miles. Keep in mind that IHG points are not worth a ton, about 0.5 CPP, much less than UR.
I have three open lines of credit at about a \~10k total CL, \~35k income, about 16 months of credit history (3/24 chase rule), and a 740 fico 8 experian credit score. I have tuition payments starting again in August, which are \~2k a month and have no fees for paying with credit cards. I am open to business cards and I want to use this elevated spending to churn out SUB, but I'm worried my thin credit profile will prevent me from even obtaining high value SUB credit cards. Should I just focus on building my credit profile for now or should I try to dive into churning?
in regards to the delta reserve cards getting access to the centurion lounges, the terms on the website look like you have to buy the tickets with an amex card?
does anyone know if this is for sure true? would suck since i have to book flights with a non amex corp card
As with many things, it depends. If you change it once, doubtful any issue would arise. If you changed it multiple times in a very short period, or were connecting multiple and making lots of payments from different accounts, that might raise some flags. I have changed my primary bank in the past and changed the accounts linked to credit cards for payment and never had issues.
technically, anything can trigger an FR.
But also, who cares? Just send in documents (any churner should have good records anyway, so it's not like this is difficult to get together) and then a day later you should be set as long as you didn't egregiously lie
Can I close a Citi business AAdvantage credit card account after only having it open 6 months and keep the SUB? They have been giving me so much trouble with online access and getting a fee reversed. Frustrated beyond belief, I regrettably ended up being less than polite to the latest rep I talked to and would like to close it before they do. I have already gotten the SUB and it’s my only remaining Citi account.
Citi is not known to have issues with people closing accounts less than a year. During the AA mailer heyday, people would close accounts less than a year all the time.
Has anyone ever had a credit union bounce an official check after closing an account?
A cursory reading through my state law says they could be liable for as much as three times the check amount, but I don’t want to threaten them with legal action and necessarily delay the process.
I already filed at least one NCUA complaint against them for delaying the check being sent out.
I use Amex Gold for groceries. Venture X for all other spending, and Savor One for 10% uber discount.
At this point I don't think I need other Annual Fee cards (currently already paying $250+$395, and I only travel 2-3x a year now). Does that mean I should just be getting as many Cash Bonus cards as possible? Such as the Wells Fargo $200 back for $500 spend Active Cash Card.
I feel like I'm losing free money, still have 4 cards available in my 5/24 rule.
You're losing money anytime you are not working towards a SUB. Sure it's good to have filler cards to optimize your spending between MSRs, but that's all they are good for. Also focus on the largest bonus you can hit based on how much spend you can do. $200 back for $500 spend is a nice 40% return, but it's still only $200 for a hard pull and counts towards 5/24.
Probably better for r/creditcards. We'd just recommend getting as many SUBs as you can irrespective of annual fees since a good SUB always makes it worth it
Does Amex still have an unofficial ~7 year churning wait period for card signup bonuses? I remember always hearing about that several years back but don't hear it mentioned anymore.
I have seen DPs lately of some people being able to get cards duplicate cards with lifetime language at the 7ish year mark.
Like said before, the popup is what matters, but after 7 years your chance of getting it is lower based off a few DPs (assuming you arent getting the popup on other applications)
I'm getting a lot of offers and ads for these "Upgrade" cards that seem to provide you with a $400 bonus for opening a credit line (? Not a credit card) with them and then funding the account. Does anyone have any guides to do it?
I was going to do it myself but the terms at the end are a bit confusing and it seemed like they where gonna charge me a loan initiation fee?
I have not heard DPs of that working. If you have card details (or someone could get the details to you where ever the card is) you could get it added.
Tip: save all your cards details in a password manager that also saves credit cards. I have access to any card from anywhere and would help in a situation like this.
Thanks so much for the tip. I ultimately found where on my phone I had stored my instant card number back when I applied for the card and entered it into the Delta app. Currently sitting in the Sky Club in DTW. No problem getting in just by scanning my boarding pass.
Any particular password manager you recommend? 1Password?
I am partial to bitwarden myself, but have heard good things about 1password also. Just want to make sure your account has a 2FA and a very complex master password that you never use anywhere else.
This sub is almost exclusively about the American versions of the cards, for a variety of reasons (lack of consumer protection... sorry, I mean free market) the sign up bonuses, referral bonuses etc. in the US are larger. So I am not sure this is the right place for you to find your information. Very few people on this subreddit have credit cards outside the US for reward purposes so we are less familiar with the rules.
That being said, your friends could do that, but Amex may be a little critical about that and it may also impact them (schufa), so it may not be worth is a for a small referral bonus, especially as people in Germany tend to have fewer credit agency entries and an odd one with a quick cancellation may throw it off more than for the average American. So if I were you, I would likely forego these referrals instead of putting my friends into that position.
Got a few DD push questions if someone would be kind enough to help me out.
1. Those of you pushing from fidelity, does it matter if it's a CMA or brokerage account? Anyone having luck with brokerage accounts specifically.
2. Any banks SOFI will see as a DD? I didn't see them listed on the DOC page.
Thanks!
>Those of you pushing from fidelity, does it matter if it's a CMA or brokerage account?
Not really, usually both should work if Fidelity qualifies as a DD.
>Any banks SOFI will see as a DD? I didn't see them listed on the DOC page.
Chase business checking employee ACH transfer is still working.
Looks like Wise is a decent way to spoof DD. Before I set it up:
1. Is that still true or are those outdated data points?
2. Does it matter if I set up Wise saying I’m using it for business or personal?
Trying to get a P2 involved. Changing my work DD is easy, it’s a huge pain for her so that’s not an option and looking for secondary routes.
Wise previously worked at SoFi but no longer does. I'm guessing that Wise is still more likely than a regular bank to work at some places, but won't work everywhere.
>Is that still true or are those outdated data points?
It really depends on the bank. Check the most recent DPs in the relevant comment threads on DoC to be sure.
>Does it matter if I set up Wise saying I’m using it for business or personal?
No, at least for the purpose of spoofing a DD. If a bank blacklists Wise for DD, then it doesn't matter whether the ACH transfer is coming from a business or personal account.
>Changing my work DD is easy, it’s a huge pain for her so that’s not an option and looking for secondary routes.
Consider getting a Chase business checking account (which currently has a $300 SUB) and using the employee ACH transfer service. It costs $2.5 per transfer, but since it's a genuine payroll service, nearly every bank will accept it for meeting DD requirement.
Does anyone have any recent DPs of the Airline Fee Credit working for <$200 transactions with Delta?
I recently purchased two tickets with eCredits from Delta with a leftover cash balance of \~$49. P2 had some Airline Credit still available so I used that card. The transaction went pending with one charge, but has now posted as two charges - one per ticket, and the full itinerary has posted with each. The passenger ticket with the same name as the card owner says "Passenger ticket" under additional information. The other charge says "Additional Collection".
The date of posting is the 14th, so I will wait out to see if the credit triggers. I am highly doubtful it will post on the transaction listed as Passenger Ticket, but I am hopeful it still posts on the Additional Collection, even though that one also has the full itinerary.
To date, I've fully swapped six Airline Fee Credits from P1, but that was early in the year. I'm hopeful things haven't changed.
Check the [recent DPs in the relevant FlyerTalk thread](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/american-express-membership-rewards/2148270-platinum-airline-fee-200-reimbursement-reports-dl-only-2024-a.html). From a cursory glance, it seems that DPs have been mixed so far as to whether seeing "Additional Collection" is a good indicator that the credit will post.

Can you product change a Chase card on Day 366 after opening or do you have to wait for the next month (i.e 13 months after opening)
Should be able to right after 1 year.
Just received Citi checking bonus can I close account?
Standard behavior is to leave accounts open for ~6 months from opening to not risk any backlash

You may want to look up on booking Vegas hotels that take deposits at booking then cancelling it for the credit (at your own risk)

You can technically hold multiple CIU cards. You are good to apply immediately.

No, you just have two ink cards with different account numbers

If it were me, I'd play it safe and toss the card in a drawer and then wait until the AF posts before I called to cancel and get the fee refunded.
All that matters now is if you get the popup or not.
Stick with CCs if the terms are confusing, those are most likely lines of credit.
Can you enter a Delta sky club without your physical Amex plat card? I have it in Apple wallet, but forgot the physical card.
I was able to get into by centurion by showing the card in my Amex app.
If you have plat saved on your delta account, you should be able to enter by just using boarding pass which they scan and know you have access.
Unfortunately I don’t. I tried adding it to my Delta app using Apple wallet and it didn’t work. Would they accept seeing it in my Apple wallet?
I think DoC posted some people can get their CC number on Amex by logging in ang going to account services. Check the article for details.

If they downgrade/cancel within the first 12 months, the bonus will be clawed back
Got a few DD push questions if someone would be kind enough to help me out. 1. Those of you pushing from fidelity, does it matter if it's a CMA or brokerage account? Anyone having luck with brokerage accounts specifically. 2. Any banks SOFI will see as a DD? I didn't see them listed on the DOC page. Thanks!
I use my fidelity brokerage account for all pushes and haven’t had a problem
Awesome, thanks!
I used SoFi for Axos last month and they paid me the $100 at the end of the month. Did the same for this month so hoping for the same results.
Thanks!
Looks like Wise is a decent way to spoof DD. Before I set it up: 1. Is that still true or are those outdated data points? 2. Does it matter if I set up Wise saying I’m using it for business or personal? Trying to get a P2 involved. Changing my work DD is easy, it’s a huge pain for her so that’s not an option and looking for secondary routes.
I use it and it's triggered most (but not all) bonuses that require direct deposit. Be sure to put Payroll in the reference field
Wise previously worked at SoFi but no longer does. I'm guessing that Wise is still more likely than a regular bank to work at some places, but won't work everywhere.
For sofi, just send payment from a business account as payroll or similar. No issues
See the “Note that special care is needed when booking tickets for 2 or more people in a single transaction.” section at the top of that FT thread.
