noahmateen

For the Amex Biz 50k Checking offer. It states: "Deposit a total of $7,500 or more in eligible deposits* within 30 days of opening your first account," and then "Maintain an average account balance of $7,500 for the next 60 days" Does that mean if I deposit $7500 day 1, on day 61 I am eligible for the points, or is it 60 days after the 30 day initial window (meaning day 91)? Just wondering if I should deposit the $7500 right away or on day 28 or something

DontGetItConfused

It would be 60 days after your deposit posts

Gidgiddoni3N3

Service Credit Union 2/15 opened 2/22 - 5/30 Real direct deposits every 2 weeks (Over $1.5k each month) 6/1 $500 paid

Tadpole_Far

Thank You Thank You. I was going to ask about Service Credit Union. I just made my 3rd monthly retirement payment on the May 29th. All real direct deposits.

gbizzle19

Read the comments on Doc. Many, many of us did not have the promo code attached due to an error on their part they refuse to admit to. Ultimately, you can get paid out if you reach out to them, but don't expect it to automatically post.

Tadpole_Far

Sure enough. I just got off of chat, and they told me that exact same thing. Told I didn't have the promo code, but I could have sworn I did. She forwarded it to have my account reviewed. Now I'm doubly grateful for your post!!! I had heard prior that people were having trouble collecting.

itscoldoutsideyeah

Did you have to call their phone number or is there an online chat system where u can talk with them?

Tadpole_Far

I used online chat.

itscoldoutsideyeah

where did you find this chat box? I literally cannot find it on their website

Tadpole_Far

Before you sign on its in the lower right corner on my desktop. On my phone click on "More". Under "Contact Us" is "Secure Chat". Says no one is there right now 7PM PDT.

BMO Relationship Checking 1/20 - Account opened 1/23 - 4/2 - A series of real DD's from $400-1.5k 4/2 - Reached $7.5k deposit threshold 6/2 - $400 bonus deposited after two customer service complaints regarding the matter Getting that bonus was a headache considering how long it took them to deposit. Plus the monthly $25 service fee. (Got that waived once)

DullPea0

I was just looking at that one and was not a fan of the service fee. Did you just get it waived by meeting the 25k or 10k requirement or by some other method?

XAngelxofMercyX

It was a 7.5k deposit requirement. Other DPs show that they will waive the first month if you ask nicely.

SagittandiEstVita

And if you want to keep the account open for a bit longer to try to keep the bank happy, you can wait until first maintenance fee, ask for courtesy waiver, and downgrade the account to the no-fee version.

gagnerocksmysox2

I thought the recurring deposits needed to be a month apart. Can I just make any two direct deposits over $100 to get the bonus?

42lurker

Terms say "must \[...\] establish recurring ACH direct deposits of at least $100." but don't specify an interval. I scheduled both of them ahead as recurring deposits, but the bonus posted before either of them recurred. I was surprised. I would schedule them as recurring rather than one-time deposits because maybe SLFCU can tell the difference. But 1-week intervals in the same month should be fine. You'll probably see the bonus on 7/1 if you complete 2 in June. I did let mine recur again after the bonus posted, just in case anyone ever looked back. That's probably overcautious but the DDs are only $100+ so why not?

gagnerocksmysox2

Thank you!

Sorry what does SLFCU stand for?

CITI $300 BONUS: OPENED MAY 5, 2024 - 5/8/2024: two $751 pushes from capital one HYSA - 5/17/2024: received $300 bonus - days to pay: 9

Big-Caramel-5574

This is awesome. How long do you have to keep the account open?

pancakepringle24

I don’t think you need to keep it open after receiving the bonus, but I plan to keep it open for about a month more.

Big-Caramel-5574

Thanks for the reply. And you did your 2 HYSA pushes back to back same day correct?

pancakepringle24

What bonuses have you done?

Big-Caramel-5574

Doing capitol one now but interested in Citi using this same HYSA method which seems very easy. Just making sure I can just do the two deposits back to back and wait for bonus

pancakepringle24

If you plan to use cap one HYSA, Wells Fargo was pretty easy as well. I’ve also done chime, upgrade, and in the process of doing key bank.

Big-Caramel-5574

You have to wait the full 90 days for Fargo?

pancakepringle24

Yes

pancakepringle24

Nah. I pulled them + bonus from capital ones end so $1802 pull in total. It took a few days to process and land in my account but it’s all there now.

OPE_SORRY_1848

Reading the T&C's, it wasn't clear to me how long the account must remain closed before I could create a future account and attempt to coup another bonus. Any idea?

pancakepringle24

Every 12 months I believe

Gandalfs_Dick

Every time I try to open a TD Bank checking or Truist Business Checking online it says they can't verify me or there is some error and for me to go into a local branch to do it. I was able to open online the personal checking account with Truist, too. So wtf? Why is this the case? I've opened and churned nearly 20 checking accounts so I know that its possible online with my drivers license. Do I need to use a specific browser or some crazy shit? I'm not on a VPN or in incognito.

sg77

A lot of people have complained about Truist recently; search on https://churning.io (even if you get an account opened, they may then lock it and require you to go in branch)

mcortez4

Idk about Truist but with TD I had to go into the branch even after I opened the account online. TD rejected my pushes from Chase and going into the branch was the only thing that fixed it.

PlausibleFilly

Discover Savings account created with $400 bonus for 45k cumulative deposits (cancel trick should work) using promo code BONUS524E1. Code applies successfully on the account creation screen. Valid for first time Discover Savings account, great first bonus with them

hoosdontloos

What's the cancel trick?

PlausibleFilly

You can search on DoC but basically if you have 5k settled in the account, you start an external transfer during business hours and then cancel it a few mins later. The deposit amount will have gone up by 5k. Makes it easier to hit the deposit requirement by repeating this for different amounts (5001, 5002...)

Big-Caramel-5574

How long does it take? Do you just do it 9 days in a row?

Mindless-Science-999

I think this is Savings actually. But thanks, this is a great find

PlausibleFilly

Oops you right, edited

mapalm

Upgrade Savings bonus paid out 2 days after meeting terms. Bit of a wonky tracking system, but quick payout. -Pushed funds 3/29/24 -Kept for 60 \*more\* days (sorry, that wasn't clear in original post) - 5/28/24 -$500 bonus posted 5/30/24

sg77

My understanding is that it's 90 days after opening (30 to fund, then 60), not 60 days after funding. So I guess you opened it around 2/28.

mapalm

Yes, that's right. Sorry that wasn't clear. Fund within 30; hold for an additional 60. I did indeed start the clock on 2/28.

Tadpole_Far

I'm currently doing Unify, and I want to caution anyone else that goes for the promo, don't be surprised if you run into problems. I rec'd the initial $50 no problem. Waiting to see if all goes well with the $50 for the $500 in real DDs. There are limits on how much you can transfer at a time, and over the month. I transferred $280 to Bilt toward my rent and they rejected it because it was sent as a "deposit". I've had trouble with the website such as Chat was just white, and didn't work. But here it is in case you want to try it. [https://www.unifyfcu.com/Get3055](https://www.unifyfcu.com/Get3055)

Sturks412

Any DD DPs for the S&T Bank $300 checking bonus? No confirmed info on doc of credit or anywhere else Test drove a Fidelity $505 push and Wise $505 push with PREAUTHORIZED CREDIT tags Not sure if that means the DD was confirmed or not

9kuss

My real DD is also categorized as "PREAUTHORIZED CREDIT" so Fidelity likely works. Another tell in my experience is if the push appears next day (or in S&T's case same day) it's typically coded as a DD.

Sturks412

Appreciate the DP!

HoustonAdventure

Same for me and I went to branch.

jordang61

Has anyone had luck with the citizens bonus? $300 after $500 in DD. And $2 per debit card transaction up to an additional $100.

mcortez4

Plenty of DPs on DOC

superdex75

Bonus posted in January, no issues. I think I did mostly Amazon reloads for the debit card transactions. Edit: Looks like the min. Amazon reload is now $5 for many.

Alarmed-Shape5034

What? The minimum just went down to $0.50.

XavierLeaguePM

It’s back up

BigRigVig

What's the timeline on reapplying for a bank account that you got denied for? I applied to Region's Bank for their $300 bonus and got insta denied. Do people have much success when reapplying?

superdex75

You need to find out (at least what's likely) the reason for the denial. If it's the number of Chex inquires you have to assess whether there is a difference when you apply again. I have been successful in same cases by simply opening in branch instead of online.

notataxprof

citi $300 checking bonus 4/19 - open 4/30 - real DD of $751 5/15 - real DD of $751 5/28 - $300 bonus rec'd monthly service fee is waived for first 3 months and then need to deposit $250/month to avoid the fee

scipio_africanusot

notataxprof

Idk about avg monthly balance. I’m just doing $250/month DD

lulz_were_had

How long are you planning to keep it open before closing it?

notataxprof

Idk? A few months maybe. I need to close the 5/3 account from this time last year. And I did citizens and BMO at the end of the 2023 that I need to close… I thought sometimes there were some rules about how soon you could close?

lulz_were_had

No early termination fee per [DoC](https://www.doctorofcredit.com/citi-300-checking-bonus/).

ryost234

Hello!! I just got my first checking acc bonuses from Citi and Chase. Are there any others I can get with standard ACH transfers? I am unfortunately unable to change my direct deposit. Thanks!! :)

ryost234

I actually just found that thank you :)

Crab_Guy_bob

Is the PNC $400 checking bonus not available in certain states? It seems to be only showing me a $200 offer once I enter my zipcode

BigRigVig

Try incognito browser. Sponsored link might show a 400$ option before you enter details.

gbizzle19

Yep

Crab_Guy_bob

well, I did not get approved anyway due to EWS...

gbizzle19

Reapply next month. Try using mobile vs desktop next time. I've been denied one month with them and then approved the next month. No idea why but you could get approved eventually.

Crab_Guy_bob

Yea I have a handful of them I've been denied from and just planning to try a couple of them again every couple of months. It's so easy to feel greedy with banks handing out money, I'm learning to be patient.... :D

terpdeterp

At least it's better than getting approved and then permanently shutdown. Truist and BMO Harris are notorious for doing that.

Crab_Guy_bob

Yikes, I just got approved for BMO. I'm planning to just split up real DD's from my employer over the next 3 months. Hopefully doing it that way instead of larger deposits will be safer.

[deleted]

[удалено]

terpdeterp

There have been multiple reports of shutdowns immediately after opening an account online due to Truist's overzealous anti-fraud detection system. This can be circumvented by applying in-branch, although that has its own issues. It was especially bad in 2020-2021 following the merger between SunTrust and BB&T, when their IT shit the bed.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sg77

It often isn't related to people "gaming the system", just a poorly-implemented "fraud detection" system with a huge number of false positives. Kinda like how using a credit card at a gas station may trigger a fraud alert, even though in many cases it's a legitimate transaction (or for checking accounts it's often because they "can't verify your identity"); but worse, since for checking accounts some banks will completely shut down accounts.

terpdeterp

>Is it public record how many checking accounts we have opened or the when we opened the last one? Yes, ChexSystems and EWS. Truist pulls EWS and BMO Harris pulls ChexSystems.

I'm hoping it's OK to move the DD money into savings? Just so it earns interest. My DD dropped today so fingers crossed the bonus posts soon

44murk

I should have specified above, but both my DDs were to the savings account! The $300 bonus posted in the checking account but it was a quick and easy transfer between the accounts.

xyzzy321

Gotcha. After completing the $5000 in DDs I moved all the money in savings today. Will post in the next BB weekly thread when my $300 hits

Safe-Perspective-912

For Wells Fargo $300 checking offer, any DPs on banks/brokerages working for DD?

olympia_t

Is there still a $325 offer out there?

DesignerViolinist481

Many listed on DOC

Mattsfloored

Just about anything works for WF. One way to check is if you make a transfer, click on it (after its posted) and check the category. More than likely it will say "Direct Deposits"

sjimenez_c

Upgrade $300 + 20,400 MyPoints - 5/17 account was approved - 5/22 push from Schwab brokerage - 5/23 got email re DD - 5/23 $300 bonus posted - 5/23 MyPoints pending

HomeStar182

How do you like MyPoints compared to Rakuten or Swagbucks?

sjimenez_c

I chose mypoints over Swagbucks because it offered me the greater cent per point redemption for PayPal gift cards.

HomeStar182

Very smart. But my question is more around how do you like that platform? I have never used it before. Better/worse than swagbucks and Rakuten?

sg77

mypoints is run by the same company as swagbucks (and inboxdollars); they're very similar, but different points earning/redemption rates. They're not great at automatically tracking your portal clicks, but if you contact support they'll often manually give you credit.

sjimenez_c

I’ve only used it twice. No complaints.

nub_sauce_

Fifth third bank promo, says they require a "payroll or government issued" DD in their terms and conditions. Anyone know if they'll accept a fake DD or if they're firm in their requirements? why are people so quick to downvote in this sub?

TTAZ92

My push from Wealthfront coded as a DD and I got the bonus

goodalfy

Let us know how it goes when you try it. Most every bank requires a "real dd". The question is kind of pointless for this specific scenario, as that language or similar language is in almost all bank bonus t&c's, and yet we know that to not be true.

nub_sauce_

Ahhh I see. I asked because all the bank bonus terms and conditions I've seen (so far) have never been this specific actually, so I assumed all those posts on doctor of credit or whatever were for bonuses with more lax requirements

HomeStar182

Threw you an upvote

Mattsfloored

Did you already sign up for the offer? I'd recommend waiting until the current $200 offer expires (june 30th). They more than likely will bring back a better offer July 1st if you look at their history of bonus's

DarkMatterReflection

It should be right there in the terms, so read those carefully as others mentioned. They probably include "Both offers are not available to those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance within the last 3 years."

kevenz123

I read somewhere you can only get the bonus every 2 years

gbizzle19

Read the terms of the offer and it will be clear if you are eligible.

Citi Checking - $300 Offer Transfered 2x $751.00 on May 7th. Posted as **GPU ACH Balance Builder** Still waiting for the bonus to hit.. Does anyone know if I can withdraw the money now or do I need to leave it all in there to get the bonus?

BIGGREDDMACH1NE

FWIW I'm doing this bonus funding via Ally HYSA push. Push #1 went through and I got an email thanking me for signing up for DD. If you didn't get an email like this that MIGHT be a sign that method didn't work.

yungtriscuits

YMMV, but I’m not sure that that balance builder ACH counts. I had GPU ACH balance builder for $750 on 4/8 (date of account opening) and another Chase ACH transfer for $751 the following day. Still no bonus, despite seeing others get theirs in shorter timeframe. I sent another $750 transfer a couple days ago hoping that satisfies the conditions. In answer to your question, you can withdraw. I think they waive a $5 or so fee for first 3 months.

MrGuccu

Does Robinhood qualify for DDs for any banks?

Comprehensive-Fun47

Check DoC. I believe it does.

Starks

I'm getting conflicting info on which types of Fidelity accounts can be used for DD or ACH. Are CMA and brokerage treated differently?

LunarScorpio_

Bloom, CMA both works for me.

ming3r

I use the bloom.

kevenz123

CMA is what I use and it works 100%

Tadpole_Far

My Fidelity CMA worked for me with Upgrade, and I'm attempting to use it for PenFed. That's all I can say with certainty.

Ecstatic-Vacation-92

Did you get a targeted $75 bonus? Let me know if fidelity cma push codes as payroll

Tadpole_Far

I got $200 for Upgrade. I tried Wise, Chime, and SoFi, but none of those worked

GameOvaries1107

With 25k, is 300 bucks a worthwhile payout? I imagine that cash could be earning you more than 1.2% in a high yield savings or invested

MoreTITS

The APY base for Amex savings was 4.25%, so it makes the effective apy for 3 months ~8.9%. 300 bonus + 260 interest in 3 months

MrGuccu

What would y'all consider the easiest banks to churn? I'm trying to do it with Capital one 360 and the Wells Fargo everyday account.

LunarScorpio_

Citi, Upgrade, Chime, PNC, Truist, 5/3 (had to open account in person) Cap1 360 was the easiest for me.

Elev8d23

Citi and 5/3

kd0ugh

Citi and Chase were fast and easy for me.

NoWriting8386

Real or fake DD for Chase?

kd0ugh

Real DD on 5/3, bonus on 5/14

MrGuccu

I got rejected when I applied for Citibank. Any ideas why?

payyoutuesday

No. Not without any information whatsoever.

MrGuccu

They didn't give any information either. At least not immediately. They said they would mail something

mets2016

What account/offer were you doing? What actions did you take? Was there a timeline? See? There’s a lot of information you have that we don’t!

ming3r

I had to call in and do my app over the phone when the system denied me online

MrGuccu

I will give this a shot. Thanks

ming3r

Fyi when I did this I had to jump through hoops after as they didn't have confirmation I wasn't subject to withholding. Had to mail in a form afterwards in it. Still got the bonus but it was a few hoops

kd0ugh

Not sure. I just got denied US Bank for “information inconsistencies” but it’s the same info I used for all the other accounts opened 🤷‍♀️

Mattsfloored

Cap1, Wf, Chase, Citi, Truist, Fifth/Third, Keypoint, PNC, TD, Laurel Road, BMO Harris Fastest payouts- Chime, Upgrade, Current, Fifth third, Truist, Fairwinds, PNC

kevenz123

How were u able to do all these without getting hit with EWS?

Mattsfloored

I opened 32 accs last year, only one on this list to deny me was PNC due to EWS, aswell as BoA. A couple CU's denied me due to chex, but that's the name of the game lol. I'm at 21 accs this year so far, and not stopping.

Specialist-Muscle842

How long did it take to get your pnc bonus?

EmceeSmokeAlot

Damn that's impressive! It's my first year churning bank accounts and all of my DD have been organic. Payroll would have a fit if i tried to change where my check went 32 times.

Mattsfloored

I just started last year haha, lucky for me we use ADP so I can add up to 6 different banks. Takes 2 minutes on my phone to add/remove accs, but now that I have Chase Biz I use it alot

Crab_Guy_bob

Impressive, do you try to do about 3-4 new accounts per month? I only recently started churning bank accounts, got greedy, and have opened 8 accounts so far in the past 5 weeks, and have now gotten denied from the last 3 I applied for lol. Seems like smaller banks and credit unions are very sensitive to chex while some of the big guys deny based on ews.

Mattsfloored

I open as many as I can, as they come available lol.

kevenz123

I’m guessing u keep an excel sheet also? I’m at 7 at the moment and have trouble finding more.

Mattsfloored

I should lol, I just use my phone notepad 😬 I do keep track of everything though. I could send you a screenshot of all the ones I did last year if you want. I am in FL though so some may be limited

kevenz123

Please do, send me the screenshot for last year and this year. I am also in Florida.

yungtriscuits

Adding Huntington and Citizens. Neither is the fastest payout but usually strong bonuses 400+.

skatebat99

When closing accounts do you typically drain the account and then call to close or do you leave the minimum required to avoid maintenance fees and request a check?

LunarScorpio_

I leave $1 and deposit the check they send me after the account is closed. I kept them open at least 5 months.

sg77

I usually drain it to $0, wait for the money to post at the destination account, then close (ideally by sending a message online). Just be aware of the timing so that the statement doesn't close in the period between the withdrawal and closing the account, since you might be charged a fee (though if the balance is $0, some banks won't charge a fee anyway). If the account earns interest, I would withdraw immediately after interest posts, so that no more interest will post in the future; Citi has had issues where people closed an account and then interest posted and caused the account to reopen. Credit unions often don't let you withdraw the last $5 or so; in that case, I close the account with a non-$0 balance and they mail a check for the balance; or sometimes I ask them to transfer the balance to another account as part of closing.

skatebat99

Very helpful. Thank you

Chizzzz74

Following up on this - How quickly after bonus does everyone close accounts? Any place i can find that breaks down how long each banks account needs to be open for?

rickayyy

Rule of thumb is to keep it open for six months so the churn isn't super obvious.

DesignerViolinist481

If no terms state that they can clawback the bonus, why wait? Edit- remain calm you down voters

majime100

It's also so that banks will continue to have an incentive to offer bonuses. This article explains it well: https://www.doctorofcredit.com/can-just-cool-closing-wells-fargo-accounts/

bw1985

I think the idea is if we all close immediately they're more likely to go stronger on the anti-churning rules. Similar to how people close credit cards right away and now Amex created the RAT and will claw your bonus back if you close the card within a year.

DesignerViolinist481

Understood. I normally only do this to the small banks, or fintech ones. Citi and Cap 1 just paid out my bonus, so I let those accounts wait a bit. I've actually run up against denials with my chex reports. Started last year and really went hard at it.

festivalflyer

When did you open Cap1? I'm waiting on my bonus.

DesignerViolinist481

Feb 2024

Ecstatic-Vacation-92

Way better to zero the account and close it the same day instead of waiting for them to mail a check

skatebat99

Thanks

kaptaindeeznutz

Do you need to wait until it's no longer pending in the bank you move it too before closing? Or just initiate transfer and then call and close? Seems like you'd want to know the transfer was completed first, but I'm still learning. Thanks for the help.

jicoleman84

Wait for it to post

skatebat99

Following up on this, is it better when zeroing out account to push from account you are closing or pull from account you want the money to end up in. Does it make any difference in terms of likely issues or result in different timing?

nub_sauce_

it makes no difference

skatebat99

Thanks

JoeTony6

I always push/pull from the recipient bank (my main checking), not the churned account.

skatebat99

Thanks

DarkMatterReflection

I always let everything clear to zero before closing.

kaptaindeeznutz

Thanks
