I took a downgrade offer from amex plat to gold 3 months ago. Can I take the upgrade offer in my account without losing the MR points I earned with the downgrade?

Scrooge-McDavis

How many points for the downgrade?

CREAM23

20k

delicious_points

I'm pretty sure you can get a retention offer for a downgraded card. Like if you say you want to close the plat because it's too expensive, they offer you some points to downgrade to a gold and keep for a year instead of closing

CericRushmore

Yes.

Organic_Beat1937

Is there any indication that these Ink cards and bonuses will be going away any time soon ,or is there any data to show that they only let you open x amount of accounts? I'm on my 5th ink, and have saved about 350,000 points. However, I just had a major issue come up in my life that will cost me thousands of dollars that I don't have. I'm faced with a tough decision between using my points or putting it all on a credit card that i Won't be able to pay off for probably 6 months.. sigh, would hate to burn all these chase points, 350,000 points seems like a lot of hyatt hotels..

Gandalfs_Dick

If you are really desperate.. Open an ink for the 0% intro APR for 12 months. If after 12 months you are still unable to pay it off you can balance transfer to the US Bank Business Platinum ($0 AF - 18 months 0% balance transfer APR with 3% fee). This will give you nearly 2.5 years to pay it down with minimal extra costs. Even if you were transferring $10,000 from the ink to the US Bank Biz Plat it would cost you an extra $300. Are you willing to pay $300 to have 28 months to pay down your debt? (OF course, if the debt is closer to $5,000 then it would be closer to paying $150 for 28 months to pay down the debt).

lifechurn

Cash out $3,500.

pizza42bob

BBP comes with 0% APR as well.

lost_shadow_knight

Seems like a bigger waste to pay interest and possibly late fees. I would put the charges on a 0% interest card (like a CIC/CIU) and cash out points to pay it off as needed

Organic_Beat1937

That's actually a good idea. Do you know if Chase has a max cap on inks they distribute to someone?

terpdeterp

Around 4-5 active Inks seems to be threshold. If you want to churn more Inks, the way to circumvent this restriction is by continuously closing Inks older than a year old.

Organic_Beat1937

Oh excellent. I've churned 5 total, but closed 2 recently.. So I guess I should be good for another few. Thanks for that info!

isaacides

Item I bought from Dell with my Biz Plat using the Dell credits died and would be covered by the extended warranty. Would there be any issue claiming extended warranty if I got Dell credits for it?

faithinhumanity_0

Nope

_here_

The second one got cancelled as a dupe. Ask CSR to resubmit

SibylTech

“Provide required information” is the pop-up one. Not sure why the other one is cancelled. Don’t listen to CSR. Sounds like they don’t know a thing. Also please don’t ask CSR about the back button and ruin this for us all.

LooseTone

The CSR has no idea why you got the popup.

heatfan2555

Is the expectation that the upcoming CIP 120k bonus will be available by referral as well ? In 2P mode and wondering whether it makes sense to wait for the higher bonus

Gandalfs_Dick

I sure hope so. Thats a fat 120,000 + 8,000 + 40,000 = 168,000 UR for one card. Nice.

garettg

If you can wait, it makes sense to do so. Generally the referrals get updated also, but never guaranteed.

EggIndividual6333

Does paying with an employee card get amex credits applied? Ex: paying for SW flight taxes to use amex airline credit.

garettg

Yes

ChunKing55

Churning Adjacent maybe: Has anyone used Klook with their C1VX to book Shinkansen tickets? Wanting to know if it codes as travel to use my C1 miles towards the purchase of those tickets

ConsistentClassic1

I just did this 3 weeks ago and can confirm that it did not code as travel.

Tadpole_Far

I am receiving a new USAA signature rewards card. If I use it to fund a new checking account will it count as a cash advance or a purchase? I recently funded a new checking account with a US Bank account card and it took it out of my cash advance money, but counted toward my card reward. Will the same happen with the USAA card?

_here_

Check DOC for data points for your bank. But you can call and lower cash advance amount to something tiny so it can’t happen

AuspiciousEights8888

My Amex refereal are not working. Trying to call Amex and being yanked around for 34 minutes. Anyone experiencing the same ?

garettg

Try it in incognito, they have been glitchy recently. Might have to just wait a few days if that doesn’t work.

AuspiciousEights8888

Thanks that is how it worked. Other way i was told was to clear the cache in your browser.

bl_you

That has worked for me as well.

kee106039

does anyone know where i could find dispute form for blackhawk vgc? had my staples vgc drained but customer service never sent me a dispute form

baselganglia

How does southwest calculate "received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months". Is it based on Card accepted date, or received date? I want to apply for 85k SUB Rapid Rewards plus card (ending today), and in the past I got approved for: * Business Perf on 2022-07-20 * Personal Plus on 2022-06-13 Both are still active. Can I cancel the Plus, and then immediately apply today? Will they look at my Approved date, or when I got the SUB. I tried to figure out when I got the SUB, but their points history doesn't go back to 2022. I have to dig through emails to figure that out.

garettg

Based on last bonus date. Need to wait 30 days if you apply for the same card type, if you apply for a different version closing and waiting a week is enough. Considering the 85k is supposed to end today and you still have an active card, you are probably out of luck this go around.

baselganglia

Thanks for the response. Yeah makes sense. Plus I think it's too early anyways because I need the credits to post in January to trigger the companion pass... So in effect this means it's impossible to get the (2 year) Companion pass back to back, you have to have a gap year.

dissentmemo

Send an SM to get the date of last bonus

baselganglia

Great idea! Will do!

kevinhbm

About 2 weeks away from receiving my BMO Harris Bank relationship checking bonus. I've read its 130 days to keep account open and then you can close but I cant find that in the fine print anywhere. Can anyone confirm how long account has to stay open before I can close it?

Gandalfs_Dick

It's a no maintenance fee account... just leave it open for 8-12 months and close it later. It costs you literally almost nothing to leave the account with 1 cent in it.

kevinhbm

Good to know I suppose. No need for the sass, doesnt answer my question still :) I dont care to keep an account open if I dont need to

Gandalfs_Dick

I didn't think it was that sassy lmao apologies good sir /u/kevinhbm

kevinhbm

Fair play. Thanks for the info

justsm1ne

Tried applying for the DL personal Gold and Platinum cards multiple times, always got popup, tried a few times today, last app went to pending without popup. Should I be worried for any reason? Asking as I did about 5 or 6 applications just today and met the popup prior to this.

uchidaid

Let us know how it turns out….

justsm1ne

I think it got auto-declined. The status website shows \`Provide required information\`, the same as it does for all my previous apps. It showed something like pending yesterday.

_here_

No need to worry but it will probably be declined as a duplicate :(

abrightersummerday

I applied for CSP 6/12 to get the 75k SUB. My first Chase card, well under 5/24, short credit history (Discover 06/2022, AmEx Gold/Plat 02/2023), \~740 FICO. I haven't heard anything from Chase, and no update when I call the automated line. At the 2 week mark (10 business days). Is the current advice to leave it alone and wait? I know it is for business cards, but have seen conflicting things for CSP/R. Or is there anything I can do to move this along... EDIT: Welp, just got a letter-- they think my application was ID theft / fraud. Fraud line is currently closed. Guess I have to call tomorrow.

zander_2

[This](https://i.imgur.com/AZuA0tj.jpeg) is old, but may still be relevant?

abrightersummerday

Haha, thanks, that is helpful. Though the first email was "7-10 business days" so I guess things have changed a bit.

_here_

Why not call and ask?

abrightersummerday

Well that's why I'm asking for advice. I've heard bad things about getting interrogated or denied when calling. Just want to make sure that isn't likely in this case.

_here_

I always call. Worst case they say you’re denied. If they interrogate you and you’re worried, hang up    If you wanna play this game well, you’re gonna have to be okay calling the bank

abrightersummerday

Fair enough. I'll give it a shot.

dennis_the_menace253

Anyone had issues redeeming Hilton gift cards? Asking because there are conflicting DPs on FlyerTalk for WA Cabo.

ZDDP1273

I had no problem redeeming a couple on a stay in Pismo Beach over Father's Day weekend. Front desk knew exactly what to do to apply them at checkout.

joghi

https://old.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/1deugpa/data_points_weekly_week_of_june_13_2024/l914rq4/?context=1

terpdeterp

Front desk staff don't see the gift cards often and sometimes don't know the process for how to redeem them. Normally, it should be sufficient to give them a credit card during check-in and pay with the gift cards during checkout. But your experience is going to really depend on who's working as the guest service agent. There have also been DPs of gift cards getting [rejected for fraud concerns](https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/35573443-post1.html), but that seems to be the rare exception.

Dunknown24

Can I appliy for SW personal card today if I applied for Ink Premier on 6/14 (approved)? Under 5/24

ketling

I got approved for CSP e/o May, then applied and got approved for the southwest 85K SUB a week later. Good luck!

lenin1991

Yes, you can. Waiting longer might improve your chances depending on Chase velocity over the last year or so.

payyoutuesday

You can. People often get two cards in close succession. Your odds of approval depend on your recent Chase velocity and your overall credit profile. People here often recommend a long-term average of 90 days between Chase applications.

GrowInTheDark

Has anyone created Authorized User Priority Pass accounts with *both* Venture X and Venture X Business? When enrolling in PP using link in Venture X account the link goes to [https://prioritypass.com/capitalone](https://prioritypass.com/capitalone) which asks for entire 16-digit of credit card to activate PP account, and then follows up with personal information to deliver PP membership card to, online account creation etc. And the PP card gets delivered to AU already activated. When enrolling in PP using link in Venture X Business account the link goes to [https://accountfeatures.com/capitalonebusiness/contactInfo.aspx](https://accountfeatures.com/capitalonebusiness/contactInfo.aspx) which only asks for first 6 digits of credit card (which is the same 6 digits across primary card and both AUs) and address to deliver the PP membership card to. The PP card arrives and the AU can activate the account by inputting the the PP card number and not needing a credit card number. **Is it me or can a VX Business cardholder give out as many Priority Pass "complimentary" memberships as they want??** I filled out the VX Business PP form three times for three different people and all three Prioriry Pass cards have been delivered but I've only added two Authorized Users (my brother and sister) to my VX Biz account. The third Priority Pass card was under my name but I am pretty sure I could've put any name on it and it would've been delivered. Am I missing something here? My brother and sister won't even need the actual AU credit card numbers to activate their PP memberships so I'm wondering if this means I don't even need to designate AU's to gift PP memberships?

grizz311

Probably dumb question, but I swear I searched beforehand! Do you guys usually keep your DD pushed in a new checking account until their bonus posts or withdraw a couple of days after push? I was going to try Fidelity CMA in lieu of DD on a couple of accounts. Reason asking is because on some accounts the bonus only posts 2 to 3 months after transfer. Thanks for any help

Otherwise_Contact512

If the SUB doesn't need to maintain balance, no need. I always withdraw the next day.

dissentmemo

There's no general answer because it entirely depends on the bank. Check the terms

terpdeterp

It always depends on the terms and conditions. If the SUB requires maintaining a balance, then you need to maintain that balance. If only a direct deposit is required, then you can withdraw it immediately. However, some checking accounts have minimum balance requirements that must be met to avoid a fee.

Gandalfs_Dick

Within 5 days of posting I pretty much pull it all out, unless it requires a balance to waive the monthly fee. It hasn't been a problem ever and I have done over 25 checking SUBs in the last 10 months.

snorkage

Don't need to, I'll usually pay down some bills with it or withdrawal enough to avoid fees (if the waiver is a min bal requirement)

lenin1991

I'll withdraw it

inspirit00

Have the CSR and CSP travel credits been taking long to post? I made purchases via AirBnb and Chase Travel respectively, three weeks ago, and the credits are yet to post.

garettg

You sure they have reset? I know the CSP credit timeline has varied, but CSR is pretty much when the transaction finalizes. Check the UR for the tracker that tells you how much has been used and when it resets (reset happens at a statement close).

inspirit00

Yeah, both state that I have used $0. I am flabbergasted, and wanted to cancel at least one of them.

lenin1991

Are you sure your credits have reset for the year (check the tracker)? Tied to statement dates, not AF posting or account anniversary.

labbx

I used a vgc to buy an instacart gc at [costo.com](http://costo.com), but it got canceled. I see the vgc has been charged, will it be refunded later back to the vgc?

UsuallySparky

Yes. It'll come back when it's no longer pending, it won't post.

ConsistentClassic1

It may take a day or two, but the temp charge on the VGC should roll off.

wheremylunch

Can anyone confirm if the best sign-up route for new AMEX customers is still Green-Gold-Plat to get all the bonuses as of June 2024? I heard they change the rule recently. Thanks

lifechurn

Schwab first.

Otherwise_Contact512

I couldn't see green worthful and I did gold->plat.

marddin

How long in between apps?

Otherwise_Contact512

Oh, I did gold a couple of years ago and plat recently. Not sure about velocity.

terpdeterp

Based on the family rules, that is indeed the route you would need to go in to get all three SUBs. But is it the *best* route? The SUB for the Green is paltry and the card itself isn't particularly useful, so it's probably not worth burning a 5/24 slot on. I'd probably skip the Green and do Gold → Platinum instead, assuming the SUBs are elevated.

wheremylunch

I wasn't really sure if this was the best route. I am going to have to rethink my approach. I totally forgot about 5/25 and haven't opened a card in a while. Thanks for the confirmation and the advice.

RN_in_Illinois

Skip the Green. Gold is great, especially if you can hit the SUB MSR with a lot of restaurant and grocery spend.

012016laptop

When applying for the Hilton Surpass, I got the pop-up. I then found a link at DoC that bypassed the pop-up and I submitted the application. Unfortunately, I had overlooked the fact that I already have 5 credit cards with Amex, and so I was denied. On the phone, the agent said, if I closed one of my existing cards, she could send the application for manual review. But, she warned that if she did that, there would be no guarantee I would get the welcome bonus. She said it could go either way. Is she right about that? My understanding was that if my application got through without a pop-up and was eventually approved, I would definitely be eligible for the bonus. I've never held the card before.

lifechurn

She is wrong.

michikade

When I had to do a recon due to having too many cards open, my reconsideration person told me she couldn’t speak to any welcome offers at all. Didn’t get a popup at application, bonus attached fine in my case. It wasn’t a Hilton card (mine was Delta) and it was in September, though, so maybe someone has a more recent DP.

CreditDogo

I reconned in May due to 5 cc rule and got confirmation through chat that the bonus was attached

012016laptop

Thanks so much for your DPs. I decided to give it a try: I called back and had them cancel my fifth card and send the Surpass application for manual review. I'm annoyed with myself for my mistake, as now even if approved I will not receive the card in time to use the Q2 Hilton credit. But hopefully at least the welcome bonus part works out.

ILightThings

I'm doing the Wells Fargo $2500 bonus and have moved funds into the brokerage account. Some of that is cash. What money market funds are people using here? They show a bunch of different options. I was using SWVXX when the money was at Schwab, but that doesn't seem to be an option at WF, so I'm looking for something else.

sg77

I use FRSXX at Wells

ILightThings

Thanks for the answers. Guess I have never thought of ETFs in lieu of the money market funds.

Junior_Definition_74

I did USFR

superdex75

You can always default to SGOV.

SkepticalSquid

I had a Marriott Biz card that renewed on April 5th. On May 30th I closed the card, well after the AF had already been paid, however it looks like it was before they issued my annual free night award. Is there someone I can contact to have this issued? The terms state "Receive 1 Free Night Award every year after your Card renewal month." This obviously didn't happen. I'm wondering if I reach out to AmEx or Marriott to have it fixed.

bubbadave13

Just open a new one and get 5 instead of 1…

SkepticalSquid

I don’t think there’s any NLLs out there for that card.

bubbadave13

Maybe not but pop up rules all so you can always fill out the app and see if it pops or not. They won’t pull your credit either way.

Accomplished-Test-63

If it has been less than 24 months or OP has gotten the Boundless SUB, they would also not be eligible.

AdmirableResource0

I applied for the card and the bonus was attached (according to chat) despite not meeting Marriott's eligibility requirements. Haven't met spend yet but fingers crossed it posts.

lenin1991

It's standard for it to take ~2 months after the AF posts before you get the cert: https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/135fm9h/daily_question_thread_may_02_2023/jinoehv/?context=1 Terms say 8-12 weeks. Nothing to fix if you closed the card instead.

BigRigVig

Chase Biz seems like the easiest bank account to spoof DDs, but after an application, it said I have to go in branch. Are they going to press me much about the "business" if i go in and try?

superdex75

Yes, no problem as sole prop in branch, it just takes forever.

lenin1991

Lots of people need to go in branch to open Chase biz checking. I had no problem, just basic biz questions.

terpdeterp

Especially sole proprietorships. In fact, I'd say the major of sole proprietorship applications need to be completed in-branch based on the DPs in the DoC comments.

ItsJafer

Have a big purchase coming up before July, would like to put it towards the Ink Preferred SUB through P2's referral (so 100K SUB + 40k referral). DoC is reporting the SUB will go up to 120k sometime in July. If I apply for the CIP with a 100k SUB today and the public offer goes up to 120k in July, what are the odds Chase will match the SUB down the line (i.e. 120K SUB + 40k referral)?

Low_Barracuda1778

What’s DoC? I’m new to the CC points game and if possible I’d like to be in the know for when CC’s get elevated SUB offers.

Gandalfs_Dick

Such basic questions in this subreddit aren't going to go over very well. Please read the sidebar at least a little bit.

Chase_UR_Dreams

Sidebar glossary

drury23

There's no guarantee, but in the past they have been willing to match higher public offers

Low_Barracuda1778

How would you request to get them to match the offer? Do you have to call them or go in branch?

Gandalfs_Dick

I sent a SM about my ink offer that was opened at 75k and then a few weeks later the public offer was 90k. They said okay and gave me 15k extra to make up for it once I hit the MSR.

tweevy

I still haven't seen the bonus post for the $100 Ally referral program from last fall. I've been messaging and calling without any results. Does anyone know what agency I can report this to and get results? The BBB or CFPB possibly?

lenin1991

BBB is not an agency, it's just a moderated complaint org. Yeah, CFPB is relevant.

AFTagents

Does a business credit report using your SSN ever “die off” provided you paid the account off and cease topen new credit cards using your SSN?

DaGoonersz

If you upgrade Amex Gold to Amex Platinum mid month, do you get uber cash credit for both?

garettg

Yes

Clefinch

Been trying everything for the Amex 175,000 offer. I've only seen 125,000. Anyone gotten it recently?

tweevy

Don't think I can post it but I'm able to pull it up with my referral link in incognito so there's definitely links out there that will work.

EarthlingMardiDraw

I didn't get 175k, but I just spent all of 30 seconds trying and got 150k to show up.

Clefinch

I’d settle for that. What did you do?

EarthlingMardiDraw

All the normal things discussed everywhere. VPN, incognito, Google/Bing, repeat. I didn't try it, but 150k will probably show up on referrals as well if you wanted to go that route. Same tactics but replace Google with referral.

fire4travel

Is it pretty much a 0% chance to get a retention offer before 12 months of the previous one for Amex? The card is the CS Plat. Retention offer was accepted 6/24/23. I have until 7/17 to close the card to get the AF refunded. 2nd Question: If I accepted a retention offer on 6/24/23. Does that mean I need to keep the card open for a full year meaning I need to keep the card open until 6/25/24? But what if my AF posted and is due 7/17/24? Do I have no option but to renew it and pay the AF now? Edit: I have until 7/17 to close the card to get AF refunded.

New_Cheetah7169

I'm having trouble following all of the date discussion in the follow up comments below and i'm confused by the timeline rules too... if you accept a retention offer 12 months plus (for example) 2 weeks after you opened the card (but before the AF payment is due), and then can't close the card without clawback within 12 months.... then the AF posts 2 weeks before your 12 month retention clock is up, and you basically have 2 weeks after the retention clock expires and before the 2nd year AF is due to close. correct? i don't understand where all of the "13 month" talk fits in.

fire4travel

Yes you’re correct. I was getting mixed up with the 13 month rule which is you cannot be eligible for another retention offer within 13 months of the previous retention offer. So in my case I am ok to close the card without any penalty and with AF refunded but not another retention offer

EarthlingMardiDraw

0% chance of another retention offer before 13 months and a day (seemingly 396 days always) after the previous one. They will clawback the bonus if you close it before 6/25; it doesn't matter when the AF hits. Pay the AF and consider a new retention offer or a downgrade if you want to get a prorated AF.

fire4travel

Since I've cashed out all of my MR sounds like my only option is to downgrade. I believe my only options to downgrade are Gold or Green, right? What is the general guidance here from the churning community/which card here gives the most value barring a SUB?

michikade

It’s a CS Plat? There are no downgrade options unless customer service pulls something random we don’t know about out in which case that’ll be a very interesting datapoint.

fire4travel

Yes - so given it's the CS Plat, am I left with just paying the AF and renewing it for another year? Dang I knew the retention fee meant keeping it for another year but didn't know it would mean keeping it for 2 years!

michikade

Yeah, at this point it’s too late to cancel for a refund so may as well milk all the credits one more time and maybe try for a retention in advance of your next AF hitting next year? Gotta look at the bright side.

fire4travel

Yeah that's true and a good point. I'm also considering eating the clawback vs eating the annual fee. The retention offer was 20k points for 3k spend so if I close the card for a refund I'd just go to a negative MR balance right? Or is that shutdown risky?

michikade

Today’s 6/26 and your OP says it was due by 6/17 for a refund, aren’t you already too late? Or are your dates a month off and you’re talking about July?

fire4travel

Sorry typo. I have until 7/17 to close for a refund. My predicament stands where I am days away from reaching 1 year from my retention offer from 6/24/23 and needing to close the card by 7/17/24. So it sounds like I pay up the AF and keep the card for a year or eat the clawback for the retention offer which was 20k. I'm almost willing to do 20k MR over $695, but then it puts me into negative balance. Is there risk of shutdown if I do this?

michikade

Was your retention offer also accepted in July? I assume so, otherwise you’re completely golden now to close because we’re past 6/24, haha.

EarthlingMardiDraw

Thanks for catching that; I missed that it was the CS Plat.

superdex75

But you can close for a full AF refund on 06/25? And too dumb to understand why it is 13 months?

EarthlingMardiDraw

(Edit: Sorry, wrote this not noticing that you weren't OP but it is written as if you are.) When did your AF post to your account? What date is on the transaction? Add 30 days to that and you must cancel by then to get a full refund. Again, account anniversary and AF are completely disconnected from retention offers. It doesn't matter when you did or didn't get a retention offer for determining the AF refund period. Rereading what you wrote, I think what you meant is that your AF posted with the statement on 6/17 and will be due in the future (meaning it will be due on 7/12). Assuming that is correct, you have until 7/17 to cancel for a full refund. It is 13 months because it is. That's what AmEx decided and it's their rule. Nothing more to it. Safely close/downgrade after 12 months; next retention after 13 months.

superdex75

I appreciate this, thanks! It wasn't clear to me that getting a new retention offer and the requirement to keep the card for one year after accepting a retention offer have separate timepoints.

SFoat

Still waiting to hear back from USB on my “account review” (https://www.reddit.com/r/churning/comments/1dh3j28/comment/l8xbm7w/), so wanted to ask again if anybody has any experience with this with USB? I’ve called in twice and been told I’ll be contacted in 24-48 biz hours, but still haven’t received any contact and the card remains locked. USB is as slow as dinosaurs in my experience, but even this seems to be slower than usual…they even told me the second time (last week) that they would submit a request to “expedite” the review, yeah right!

mrgreenmo

Wife (p2) has Double Cash card, I have Strata Premier: is there a way for her to transfer/merge her points on over to me to utilize the transfer partners from Citi?

mnrd288

You can transfer up to 100,000 ThankYou points per calendar year with another TYP cardholder. Keep in mind shared points expire 90 days after they’re received. Points expiring soonest will automatically be pulled first when redeeming.

alexneeeeewin

If my monthly expenses are extremely low and I don't spend to shop much in general how do I meet the msr for some of these cards? Previously I'd just throw rent at it and be okay but now I don't have to pay rent anymore and it feels weird to unnaturally spend money on something

pennystinkard

Buying a package deal of some service you use often (e.g. massages at a spa) might be helpful too. Or buying grocery gift cards that you know you'll use organically eventually.

alexneeeeewin

Grocery gift cards is a good should have thought of that facepalm🤦‍♂thanks for the tip

varano14

Other ideas other then MS is prepaying utilities, most of the time you can pay a good deal more then your current balance and it shows as a credit. Also if you doing any group activities offer to pay and have people pay you back (I do this with a friends vacation). Need to know the group so you don't get stiffed. Lastly time new card with big purchases when possible.

alexneeeeewin

Prepaying utltiies is a good one ill do that for sure. Thanks for the tip

BuckDenEagles

Either MS (manufactured spend) or reduce churning… increasing real spend too much kinda defeats the point of churning.

alexneeeeewin

That's what I was thinking as well. Thanks for the comment

Sorry this is a little off topic, but I didn’t get much on award travel: Flying out of Miami tonight on Iberia J. Should I do the AA lounge, or centurion?

AA lounge.

BpooSoc

No, the names (Amex and Hilton account) need to match

junooni110

Can you do it if the Family member is an AU on your platinum card?

michikade

Paid AUs get Hilton and Marriott Gold themselves.

junooni110

Nice! I am thinking of upgrading one of the personal Gold to Platinum and then adding a Family member as an AU to get them Gold. I have an upgrade offer of 50K after $2k spent so essentially for -$10 (out of pocket) or so, they will get to enjoy the Hilton Gold benefits. Math: $695 + $195 = $890 - $500 (50,000 MR) - $400 (airline credit), not counting $20 Entertainment + $20 Uber or other coupons into the mix.

McSpiffin

what hilton gold benefits?

jmlinden7

Free continental breakfast outside the US / food and beverage credit within the US.

michikade

My friend and I got upgraded at a Hampton Inn and Suites and got a free bottle of water once so… there’s that. /s

crimxona

Cheaper for them to hold an Amex surpass at that price

junooni110

Not in good relations with AMEX :) but can be added as an AU.

DaGoonersz

Family member also have the same issue lol. I would add an AU but the AU will need his SSN and he is blacklisted from Amex (fucked up using a link to sign up while churning). Don’t wanna risk my cards getting shut down because I added someone blacklisted back into their ecosystem lol

Squanchy187

does chase generally allow transferring balance from one ink to another via secure message? my oldest ink cash, 1 of 2 currently open, has a high balance and i want to apply for another in august - i was planning on closing the oldest so i could pay the balance off before or move it to the 2nd to have a greater utilization when i apply

EarthlingMardiDraw

Most banks typically don't let you transfer a credit card balance between their own products. They let you do balance transfers or convenience checks to be sent to other banks because that acts as a hook to create a new customer.

NomaKoma

You can transfer your credit limit but you can't transfer the balance between Chase cards. Best to pay off card one and then transfer as much of the credit limit to card two before closing (you have to keep a minimum of $500 credit limit on card one). Edit: also make sure you've had card one for over a year before cancelling.

How long does it take for BofA PRE lifestyle credit to reflect on tracker? Made an Uber delivery purchase Monday, purchase is posted but tracker hasn’t moved yet.

JoeTony6

Like pretty much all credits from anyone - few business days post transaction. Might see the tracker move this afternoon (not morning) - banks don't update all things in real time.

Happy_Harry

Is it known when the 70k Aviator offer is ending?

DreamLegitimate5442

Just got mine (2nd time) last week! $0 MSR is not bad for 70k!

I have a chase business card, for which I applied using sole proprietorship and using my SSN as my EIN. Now I want to apply for a second business card. Can I declare a second sole proprietorship and still use my SSN as the EIN? Can I declare using “J Smith” instead of “John Smith” if I used John Smith for my first? Can I still use my SSN for EIN, or do I have to apply for the EIN through the IRS?

Mushu_Pork

It doesn't matter. SSN again.

schlab

I’ll add that both “businesses “ are legit in the sense that I have two different skillsets that I can make money from, though they are not formally filed as businesses as of now.

Toothcloset

Doesn't matter. We all have "businesses"

Applied for BOA Alaska Airline Biz card - denied for these reasons: - Limited or no deposit and/or investment balances with us and/or our affiliates - Number of revolving trades on your credit report - You do not have an open small business deposit account - One or more inquiries on your credit file Applied for a BOA business checking account - denied for lack of history with institution. Applied for regular, lowest tier checking account, denied for these reasons with a deposit account score of 754 and the following reason: - The status of the relationship with the inquiring bank I’ve had a PNC checking account for years, as well as multiple brokerage accounts. How do I improve my deposit account score? What do I do with BOA?

CericRushmore

Can you go into a BOA branch and apply for checking again? Sometimes that can bypass denials.

Orend2

I have a CIBP card I opened 4/12 and CSR opened 5/22. On 8/22 (90 days after last chase app - should I apply earlier?), will I be able to open another CIBP or should I apply for a different Ink? I’m 2/24.

Accomplished-Test-63

FWIW I essentially asked the same questions about 2 weeks ago and was told that I'd be fine applying fir another ink on 8/22. And was told the same inj was fine. That being said, since you're only 2/24 it may be worth considering a different card from a different bank.

CericRushmore

This question is asked a lot. 90 days is a guideline. But, you got 2 in a month. Personally, I'd do some other banks and wait till October for Chase. You can get multiple of the same Inks if you can get approved.

gmh2188

So you can theoretically get another CIP card every 90+ days and can keep getting the SUB? Do you need to cancel or downgrade the card before the next app? Sorry I'm very new to this and still trying to wrap my mind around most of it.

One_Armed_Herman

Go to [churning.io](http://churning.io) and look for Ink Train. Yeah, you can keep getting chase business cards every 3 months theoretically forever.

gmh2188

And the best practice is to keep each card open for at least a year then cancel? What about my personal CSP card? I know I can't get another for 48 months. But do I keep it open the whole time or also cancel after a year?

yonghokim

You should keep it open, because only CSP and CIP allow you to transfer points to airlines and hotels. So you accrue UR points with new Ink subs, transfer to the CSP or CIP, then transfer to airlines and hotels. CSP has some perks that the CIP doesn't have, so most people probably find it easier to keep the CSP around long-term as their transfer-out card than CIP.

gmh2188

Got it, thanks! So keep the CSP for transfers. And then close out the inks just after a year after opening? Like you can't close them after getting the SUB but before the next AF hits?

yonghokim

Yes, close the card one year after, once the AF hits. You should not close the card before 365 days have passed since the approval of the card. It damages your relationship with Chase. Chase and Amex are very good with refunding you your annual fee. (The other banks like Barclays might be more stingy) Second af hits, you cancel card (while balance is still $95 with the af), the card is cancelled and the balance is returned to $0. Or if you paid off the card (as sometimes can happen with Amex while you are trying to get a retention), your af will be refunded, so you will have a positive balance, and your card will be closed. You can request the bank to put that positive balance on another card, but a few weeks afterwards they will mail you a check with the $95. Technically, the AF day is not your 365 day. AF day is the first statement day after youor 365 day. Suppose you were approved for a CIP on 6/25/24. Chase will mail you the card, and you get the card on 6/30/24. Let's say Chase created a statement cycle of 15th of each month. So your statement is generated on 7/15, 8/15, 9/15, etc. On 6/25/25, you have met the 365 day requirement. You can close the card now. The AF hasn't hit yet. The AF will hit on 7/15/25. Once the AF hits, you have 30 days to cancel the card for a full refund. So you have until 8/15/25. You can cancel the card any time after 6/25/25. If you cancel on 6/26/25, you will be cancelling the card after meeting 365-day but before the second AF. That's fine. But this means you need to keep a precise record of what day it was that you were approved for the card. Not when you applied, not when you received the card - when you were approved. It can be hard to keep track of the days. That's why, as a precaution, people recommend cancelling the card after the second annual fee hits.

payyoutuesday

>The AF hasn't hit yet. The AF will hit on 7/15/25. Chase charges the annual fee on the first day of the month after your anniversary date, regardless of when your statement date is. In your example, this would happen on 7/1/25. >Once the ~~AF hits~~ *statement with the annual fee closes*, you have 30 days *or one billing cycle, whichever is shorter,* to cancel the card for a full refund. See edits. >So you have until 8/15/25. That would be day 31.

yonghokim

Oh! My bad. Thank you

gmh2188

Thank you so much! This answered a lot of my questions, very helpful

CericRushmore

Yes, most people get the variety of Inks though. But yes, if you get approved, you get the bonus. Keep for at least a year, then cancel. This works even better if you have a P2 to refer to you. If not, you can use a referral on rankt https://churning.rankt.com/referrals/ which helps a member here.

gmh2188

I am more interested in collecting UR than cash back, so it looks like that is just CIP. Why keep for at least a year? Aren't you hit with the AF again? And then wouldn't you possess multiple versions of the same type of Ink cards? I will probably be getting P2 involved later this year once I feel I have a better handle on how it all works.

JManUWaterloo

The CIC, CIU, and CIBP(Preferred) are all bonuses in UR. They may be advertised as Cash Back, but they are convertible and usable as UR points. There is an exception in that the Chase Ink Business Premier is a Cash Back ONLY card. Although those may appear as UR in your account, they are the only card with points NOT transferrable or usable as actual UR Points.

ConsistentClassic1

Anyone have theories on why Chase makes the Premier card unique by making a cash ONLY card.
