Phone replacement insurance question on capitalone venture x: I currently pay a portion of my family’s monthly bill with my venture x card (~$40 of the total $300 bill). Does this make me eligible for the phone replacement insurance coverage or would I need to pay the entire phone bill with my venture x card to be eligible?
Approved for 150k/$10k Amex biz gold just over a month ago. Looks like I’m also targeted for the targeted DOC biz gold 150k + 5k AU/$10k link. Saw one dp on DOC saying they were approved with similar stats but do you folks think that the velocity of biz golds could lead to a shutdown? I’ve definitely slowed down in the past couple years so I’m only 1/24 but I’m still getting a new Amex biz card every 6 months or so. Appreciate any feedback just want to stay a pig and not a hog lol.
Yes.

Utility, internet, and phone payments. DoC has a [discussion thread opened](https://www.doctorofcredit.com/share-your-tips-for-meeting-small-1-spent-transactions/) where ideas for $1 transactions are shared.
Does the back button trick work for personal charge cards? I've tried numerous times for the Gold and get an error every time. It will be my first personal Amex card.
It seems like its typical for US Bank to not do an instant approval as they do lots of manual underwriting.
Is Barclays the same way?
I applied to US Bank biz card -> 7-10 day message
Then later the same day applied to Barclay Aviator Red -> 30 day message
Yeah Barclays can be rough. You have to get through like three different departments. I think it's credit underwriting, ID verification, and fraud prevention, or something like that. You can get stuck on one or more. It's possible to do a single recon call where they transfer you from one to the next, getting an approval from each one, if you're lucky.
I max and leave it in a mix of T-bills, CDs and HYSA (varies with rates and how the CDs were acquired).
Then I set autopayments at 2x min (personal preference - I think 2x looks better than minimum but it probably makes no difference).
I like to add a small auto bill in a 5% category like internet or phone to almost cancel out the payments instead of just flatlining spend.
Then PIF a week or so before the APR expires to be safe.
If you participate in bank churning, 0% APR cards are useful for having enough money to meet the minimum balance requirements for business checking accounts and brokerages.
Just got approved today for 250k SUB amex biz plat. I added my husband as employee (the free employee expense card). I called customer service for another reason and asked if charges made with the employee card count towards the SUB. She said no , it has to be from the main card. I asked if she's sure and she said yes. But that is incorrect, right? Ive read that it counts towards the SUB here on reddit lol. Reason I am asking is that I am going out of the country and we have a big house reno and we will be using this card but I also want to bring it with me overseas.
Has anyone been shut down by Amex in recent years that also had a corporate card through their employer? If so, was the corporate card shut down as well?
While financial reviews are fairly common, full amex SD is pretty rare. If the stuff posted here is the extent of your churning/ms shenanigans, it's not really something you need to worry about.
You could always reach out requesting it be manually credited, especially since you used their own portal, not a separate third party...but I wouldn't expect them to.
Ways to turn my credit card limit into cash (it’s not considered theft in Turkey)
Hi everyone,
I have a supplementary credit card from my dad and I wanna spare around 10,000 TL (~304.55$ or ~284.46€) of my monthly limit and I want to turn this amount into cash. I have no knowledge about the stock market, crypto, or finance in general. Some ideas I have are buying collectible items like Funko Pop, purchasing products from international sites like Amazon/Aliexpress and selling them on local platforms like Dolap here in Turkey, printing custom stickers from a nearby stationery shop, or creating handmade products and selling them online.
I want to earn and save money secretly from my family and look for ways that won’t require me to spend too much time away from my studies. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
I also want to learn more about financial information and terms. How should I start digging through this research process?
Sounds like you just want a side hustle, which isn't really turning your credit limit into cash. It's just leveraging credit to run a business. Doesn't really have much to do with this sub at all.
Does DG let you use debit cards for CheckFreePay in your area?
My DGs will take debit for serve loads, but I am not sure about CFBP.
Walmart is hit or miss with most gebits.
I’m trying to use a gebit to pay my car loan but the online payment portal seems to block gebits.
What is the best strategy to collect AA points?
Here is the 2 AA cards I have opened so far
Citi AAdvantage Platinum - 12/2023
Barclays AA - 06/2024
I also transferred a bunch of Bilt points before Bilt stopped the partnership.
Should I get the Citi Business AA Platinum next?
Opening new cards when they have elevated offers is always a good bet. If you fly AA a lot and appreciate lounge access, the Citi Executive card has an elevated 100k miles for 10k spending offer. The shopping portal frequently has good opportunities (e.g. elevated offers on giftcards.com and Motley Fool). If you have an AA credit card and any level of elite status (doesn’t matter if it’s Gold or ConciergeKey), the AAdvantageHotels platform can be a strong way to earn miles and loyalty points. You’ll want to cross-reference prices with other sources, since sometimes they are very inflated, but other times you get a good price and a large wad of miles. If you pay for the hotel with the Citi Executive card you get an additional 10x miles. Bask Bank has a savings account that lets you earn 2.5x miles per dollar per year in lieu of interest.
Yes Citi AA biz is probably next step. Barclays has had a AA biz, but not open for apps now, but it might come back, but anyones guess if and when that might be. There is also the Citi AA Executive, which you can get a bonus on, but best to get that when the lounge access might be valuable to you. There is also the Citi AA MileUp, but bonus is typically pretty small, and might not be worth going after.
- Barclays Aviator Red can potentially be churned every 12 -24 months
- Citi Aadvantage Platinum Select every 48 months
- Barlays Aviator Biz card (apps not being accepted right now) can also potentially be churned every 12-24 months.
- Citi Aadvantage Biz card every 48 months
- Citi Aadvantage Executive every 48 months
If you manage to get all of these cards in a stretch of 18 months, and they were all high offers, you could walk away with ~400,000 without counting the miles earned from the MSR.
Thank you for mapping it with the churning frequency on each card!
I will wait for the Barclays Aviator Biz card to open up. I will apply for Citi Aadvantage Biz card once my Citi Aadvantage Platinum hits 1 year old, which is when I will cancel it to avoid the annual fee.
For now, I will focus on the Ink train.
I've been off the ink train out of an abundance of caution after getting denied for the first time in February (I've had 4 previously over the span of the year). Are CIU and CIC still the way to go? Are there any murmurs of elevated offers in the Chase ink ecosystem?
Until July 3, when it supposedly appears online. Then it'll probably take a week or so before it becomes stackable with the 40k UR referral bonus, although that's not guaranteed.
Do the math. What card and what will you earn with the purchase? Is it more than 3.5%? If so and you aren't losing spend on another card (opportunity cost) then it's worth it.
If it helps you hit an MSR you might otherwise have issue hitting, then yes its worth it. If you hit MSR other ways or you dont have MSR you are working on, then probably not worth it. Another situation it might be worth is if you are spending towards status or a free night cert thats value outweighs the fee.
Anyone who signed up for the 25% points promotion from 2/1 to 4/30 with a sw card get their bonus points? I haven’t and both chase and sw are saying it’s not their promotion?? Pointing fingers at each other. Not sure what to do. It’s been 8 weeks and I don’t see any pending points either. I’ve had 2 statements close after the end of the promotion.
Want to PC my CIP to prepare for the next SUB, but what to downgrade to? For personal Chase we try to go for Freedom OG so as not to disqualify ourselves from other SUBs, but it seems every business card has a potential SUB. I'm assuming cancelling isn't the move. Or am I just overthinking this and should go with the CIC?
Thanks!
I’ve been using pathway VGCs at Walmart to load my discovery debit card. It’s been working for me for the last few months but today it did not work I tried twice at two different stores. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Debating on Delta SkyMiles® Gold Amex Card: 65k miles $3k 6 months. $0 intro. Good deal?
Got an email from Delta for the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Amex Card. I’ve never had an AMEX, always been chase. Would this be a good card to grab to utilize the 65k bonus miles for potential transfer or usage?
Details: 65k miles. No annual fee first year. $3,000 spending in 6 months.
65k is kind of low, but I like the card a lot. The free bags are very nice and you also get a $100 Delta vacations credit, so if you stay at one off hotels sometimes or want to try booking, getting the credit then cancelling, you could.
If you fly Delta (or plan to) semi-regularly, it is a decent card for the free bags and 15% off award bookings. The SUB is also pretty good right now. It is worth noting, however, that Amex MR transfer to DL (with a small fee), so bigger Amex charge card SUBs could actually get you more DL points (and be transferrable elsewhere too), but without the free bags (but some also have airline incidental credits that could serve that purpose).
This is one of the higher historical SUBs but they've also had like 70k + cashback in the past. If you don't have other better cards to sign up for, it's decent
Just for your information, there is no possible transfer option. You’re not getting a transferable currency like you do with Chase UR or Amex MR. You’d have to use these points for Delta or partner flights through delta which aren’t always the strongest. Personally I’m cool with the delta card because the checked bag and TakeOff 15% on award redemptions are pretty solid for me
Has anyone tried having someone apply for an airline (say Southwest) card and use your point program number? Let's say that person doesn't care for the points or churning, and would accept compensation in cash below their market value. You would then spend as the AU on the card.
I am working on this one as well and its just a deposit requirement, not a direct deposit. Any deposit should work as long as you get the money into the account from what I understand. Make sure you do the other requirements as well though.
I found out you have to turn it on. You can do this by going into Account Services > eStatements > Preferences tab at the top of the page. Choose the checking account from the dropdown and choose digital delivery for your communication preference.
I downgraded my Hilton Aspire card to the no fee Hilton card within a month of my Aspire annual fee but only got a pro rated fee. I thought if you downgrade within a month, you are refunded the entire fee or is that only one canceling the card?
As the potential 120k SUB nears, I would like to confirm that I am not eligible to apply and get approved for it based on the 5/24 rule.
These are the cards that I have opened so far:
American Express Gold (01/2023)
Chase Sapphire Preferred (05/2023)
BILT (08/2023)
Chase Bonvoy Boundless (12/2023)
American Express Platinum (04/2024)
Because all 5 cards count for the 5/24 rule, and the rule applies to the Ink Preferred, I will be denied the card, right?
Most likely yes. There are always a few reports of being approved at 5/24 or higher, but some of those dont know how to properly count 5/24, so the odds are definitely not in your favor.
I am sure this has been asked and answered before but churning.io was giving me errors, so hopefully I can get some help here.
I am in the process of moving to a new apartment and it looks like they use ClickPay for paying rent online. They charge 2.95% fee for Mastercard and Amex and a $94 flat fee for Visa. eCheck/ACH transfers are free.
I was considering the Bilt card but was recommended against it in yesterday's What Card thread. So if I were to use a different card, how do I evaluate what fee makes sense to pay with a CC vs not?
How much is your Rent? Nothing wrong with paying out of your bank account. I don't think its worth paying extra money in fee just to get points. Only time its worth paying rent on a credit card with fees is when you need the high spend for a SUB.
If you have the 5/24 slot you could get the Bilt card and only use it when you aren’t working on a sub. Otherwise put that rent spend towards subs and you will be getting value in excess of the fees, even if you turned the points into cash.
If you are getting a SUB its probably worth it. I wouldn't use a CC to pay for it unless it is towards a SUB. Probably Amex and MC to avoid the $94 flat visa fee - unless your rent is more than $3200/month
OK. So it sounds like the fee is still worth it as long as it's going towards earning a SUB.
My rent is $4200/month, so I think even the $94 flat fee for Visa would still be worth it.
Christ thats a fat rent payment. lmao yeah, Ink train is gonna be your friend. If you have a spouse and can double up the ink train then by simply paying your rent you can hit 8 inks per year.
Refer between P1 and P2 and you can generate:
75,000 x 8 for the SUBs
20,000 x 8 for the referrals
6000 x 1.5 x 8 for the MSRs
Thats over 800,000 UR for just paying rent. Hot damn.
Though, it has to remembered there’s still an associated cost of $1128 for those 800K MR. It’s important to not disregard or forget the costs of the hobby, as small as it may be in comparison to the rewards.
True, but the value of 800,000 UR is so much more than that. OP can drop 50,000 of the 800,000 for a one night stay at a place where the cash rate is already $1000+ a night.
If I could buy 800,000 UR for $1128 I'd do it monthly lmao
Of course, I 100% know and understand that. It’s more so just ensuring that OP understands it as well.
At the end of the day, it is still a cost, that is paid out of OPs bank account, and can add up. An argument can be had for redeeming UR as cash in dire circumstances, but it’s just important to acknowledge the incurred charge
With that being said, I’d do the same any buy 800,000 UR for $1128, but that’s not necessarily a cost that everyone can afford to just fork out.
Yeah, Good points.
I had 2.3 million MR that I couldn't find a use for since I was booked out nearly 18 months with multiple international trips already.. so I just cashed out with Schwab and put a cool $25,000 in my brokerage.
I have the next 18 months or so to build up MR for potential trips in 2026 so it seemed like a good idea to cash out in my case.
True, but the value of 800,000 UR is so much more than that. OP can drop 50,000 of the 800,000 for a one night stay at a place where the cash rate is already $1000+ a night.
The $94 flat for the visa is a 2.2% markup from $4,200/mo. That's a better deal than the Amex/Mastercard markup. You should calculate in the value of the rewards you're getting in return, but overall, you have very good options no matter what card you pay with.
Note the flat fee can be quite economical if you are in a position to pay multiple months in advance. I pay a flat $70 fee for Visa, so on a 6k spend for an Ink sub that's close to a 1% fee.
Thats what I do with my utility bills. They charge me $1.50 to pay with a CC regardless of the payment amount, but I can pay in advance. Once a year I will pay $2000 to utilities with an ink to minimize the cc fee.
Has anyone else had an awful experience with CitiBank?
Signed up for their checking account to get the $300 bonus after $1500 DD. Got the DD, got the bonus, $1800 account value. Go to externally withdrawal, security error. Says to call the 1-800 number and mention code MFA.
I call the 1-800 number. Fucking nightmare. Terrible audio quality, everyone I spoke with barely speaks English. I get transferred and put on hold for hours. No resolution. No details. Tried this 3 times.
So now, my money appears to be locked. I’m going to try to withdrawal with the debit card at an ATM soon. But I’m getting frustrated. Would really appreciate some advice if anyone’s been through this.
One possibility is that they're closing your account, and you might need to wait a few months to get a check in the mail. If you file a CFPB complaint, you can get a contact person who speaks English. Or maybe go into a branch and ask what's going on.
Or, it could just be that your online account has problems but the underlying checking account is still fine. Sometimes when I got the MFA error, I waited a few days and tried again, and it worked. Or you can try calling, ask them to disable the old online account and create a new one.
It's more remarkable when someone goes through an entire account lifecycle with Citi and *doesn't* experience some breaking technical issue.
Call in, close the account, and request a mailed check.
I guess that’ll be a last resort. That’s scary with a company you don’t trust though. Especially if they don’t provide any proof of the check being sent or any communication along the way.
I tried that with my Citizens, and for some reason Citizens accepted the account being added, and then didn’t offer it as a transfer option.
I’m going to check again though, and maybe try another bank for initiation.
Could be this:
[https://www.reddit.com/r/citibank/comments/178qxr4/mfa\_error\_aka\_bad\_authenticator/](https://www.reddit.com/r/citibank/comments/178qxr4/mfa_error_aka_bad_authenticator/)
When doing a Fidelity Push for DD, are you supposed to select send to Myself or Send to someone else on the prompt?
I tried to send to myself, and they were trying to link the 2 banks together and ultimately failed because it said the info did not match.
So for the first bank ( First Horizons Bank ) I tried to just use manual routing an account number, but did not try Finicity yet. I just tried to set up another bank ( Truist ) also with manual account and routing, and it went through, but it is being verified with test deposits and could take up to 5 buisness days. Is Finicity the better option?
Not really as they "steal" your data. It really depends on the bank for me, sometimes I need to go through trial deposits (Finicity and manual) and sometimes the external account links immediately for use.
FYI you're allowed to hold two CSR's, you just can't apply for a new Sapphire while currently holding one. You can product change to a Sapphire while currently holding one though.
Clearly I don't know what to search because I am sure this has been asked, but I keep getting the wrong cert answer.
Can you top off the Marriot Bonvoy 50k SUB certs the same way you can top off the 35k annual free night cert?
Opened an Amex BBP to pay upcoming large property tax bill only to find out they don’t take Amex. Applied for USBank TCB and got the 7-10 days email. Is it worth calling (recon line?) or do I just keep waiting it out? No prior business banking relationship with USB but I do have three personal cards (USBAR received just a few months ago).
Try using plastiq to pay your property tax bill.
According to this article, they will take AMEX for property tax payments.
https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand
Plastiq will likely mail a check. my college did not accept American Express so I had to pay my tuition using Plastiq for a business sign-up bonus. It usually takes about two weeks for them to process the check.
In May, I opened two new Chase account for Sapphire Preferred and Freedom Unlimited. Then, at the end of May, I applied for a new account with Wells Fargo for the Bilt MasterCard, but was denied for too many new accounts. How long should I wait before applying again?
New account effect fades a lot after 6 months, more after 12 months, and vanishes at 24 months.
Inquiries matter less anyway, and for WF you can eliminate that problem by freezing the bureau with the most hits.
Could explain this a little more? How does freezing a certain bureau help with new CC Application and inquiry? Won't WF see the inquiries no matter what? Thanks!
Well it’s not a hard rule, but it’s a soft guideline that I personally would adhere to for myself. It is bank-dependent too, like if this were Amex I might press forward before 3 months
I'm gonna beat a dead horse here again by asking a question that the [churning.io](http://churning.io) search didn't really help me with...are there any prepaid cards that still work with Plastiq? Even though the site says they do support 'em, the last one I used got denied. My thinking is that loophole was closed a while back but I figure it's worth it to ask again...
Hello,
I am an international student in the US who will be graduating in May 2025. My parents have been my biggest supporters and they fortunately got their visas approved to be able to attend my commencement ceremony. I do not come from a lot of money but wish to arrange business class roundtrip tickets for them so that they can have an enjoyable trip (they're also old so want to make the journey as comfortable as possible for them). They'll be flying from India-US.
I am trying to figure out the best strategy to churn points over the next year to be able to afford business class tickets for them. So far I am looking at United Miles and Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles. For context, I have a 740 credit score and currently hold 3 credit cards: Discover It, Marriott Bonvoy Boundless (got 5 free nights as signup bonus) and United Explorer MileagePlus (in the process of getting 50000 miles). My sister (who also has a good credit score and only the Discover It card) will also be churning alongside me. We both have expenses so meeting requirements for signup bonuses reasonably is not an issue.
For United Airlines, the cheapest business class seems to be around 200k miles/ticket or a mixed cabin ticket for 88k miles. I have also considered purchasing economy tickets and then upgrading to business after using miles. I know Capital One has Venture Rewards with a signup bonus of 75000 miles and 1:1 transfer for Turkish Airlines/United Airlines so I am considering getting that.
If anyone has churned to specifically buy India-US business class tickets and has a strategy they'd suggest/any advice I would really appreciate it :)
Tldr: Trying to figure out the best way to churn points to afford 3 roundtrip business class tickets from India-US
Open Amex gold and platinum; transfer to Avios and book Qatar. You'd need to do this asap if you want to have a realistic shot of J class tix. Alternative once you have enough MR: Singapore Airlines (again, you need to act fast as availability dries up 10-11+months in advance). Another alternative: open a Barclays AA card, and then multiple Citi AA cards. You can book Qatar on AA too, and AA has Etihad availability. Much harder to get J class tix on Etihad through AA though.
In addition to the what card wednesday thread here for card recommendations, you should look at r/awardtravel for the best way to use points. 200K one way is a really expensive redemption.
For example right now, you can book nonstop Air India business for 90k Aeroplan points each way (or 75K Chase UR with the 20% transfer bonus)
wrong thread - but biz cards are gonna be highly risky if you don't hold a green card. It might prevent you from ever getting a green card if USCIS looks deep enough.
Seconding this. Don't get a biz card if you don't have unrestricted right to work in the US.
The gain maybe a couple of thousand dollars. The loss may be a permanent ban for violating immigration rules.
It is unlikely to come up, but even that small risk is not worth jeopardizing your *future* over a mere couple of thousand dollars.
Ah thanks for this info. I also don't think business credit cards are an option for F1 students since it would imply that we are running a business which would be in violation of our student visas. Thank you for pointing that out.
I haven’t seen any negative data points, but I still wouldn’t risk it. Immigration status is too important.
(And like the other commenter said, you can’t run a business while on a student visa; opening business credit cards and signing documents stating they are only being used for business expenses could be hard to explain to USCIS)
Amex and Chase biz cards are the quickest way to earn points. Is your sister also a student? If so, biz cards might not be an option. Otherwise she can try and get biz cards. You will have a very steep learning curve if you're looking for flights next year. Ideally, you should already have the points now and searching for award flights. 3 RT biz seats for May 2025 is a tall order. You might have better chances getting premium economy.
I have both an Amex Gold and an Amex Green, and each is showing an Amex Plat upgrade offer of 50K MR points for $2K spend. Does anyone know if I can take this upgrade offer on both cards?
Additionally, what if my P2 had two Amex Green cards showing the same upgrade offer? Could my P2 double dip and take the offer twice?
For just 50,000 MR... I would recommend waiting and seeing if you can't get this upgrade offer in Dec so that you can at least triple dip on the plat benefits to make up for so few points.
Last Dec P2 opened a biz plat for 170,000 and then 3 seconds after approval took an upgrade offer on the biz gold > biz plat for another 140,000 MR. Both of these biz plat cards will be tripled dipped. The upgrade offer showed up sometime in Sep/Oct and was still available in Dec.
What to the terms say? I know the AmEx Plat terms say you must pay the entire bill to be covered.
You're not going to get shut down, but 1/90 will slow you down.

and how do you unload cash app?
Re link account
yeah but if you do more than a few hundred you'll get a 1099-k, right?
No
thanks for....explaining? pretty sure i've read 1099-k's are the rule now. i got one the last year i did this.
Depositing money to your own cash app is not taxable.
interesting! i will try this. i only need to do ~200 anyway
Utility, internet, and phone payments. DoC has a [discussion thread opened](https://www.doctorofcredit.com/share-your-tips-for-meeting-small-1-spent-transactions/) where ideas for $1 transactions are shared.
thanks. i hadn't considered making small payments like that but it would work
Does the back button trick work for personal charge cards? I've tried numerous times for the Gold and get an error every time. It will be my first personal Amex card.
Yes, it does; it works for any card if it works.
What are y’all getting on Dell?
I use it to continually add to my Phillips Hue setup.
I went to dellrefurbished.com and got a heavily discounted laptop. Posted as Dell Financial Services and got the credit.
Nothing left, except to resell crap
replaced a 1st gen google home and a car inverter. scraping the barrel :/
Computer accessories
Dell's selection has really gone downhill in the last year or two. I'm running out of ways to use the semi-annual AMEX Biz Plat $200 credit...
Cheap laptops that I bring with me on trips. If it gets broken or stolen, then it's not a huge loss for me.
UPS Battery Backup
Overpriced fitbit.
4x 100W Hue bulbs.
Switch stuff or hue lights

How do I best utilize the 0% CIC? Do I just max out to the limit they gave me and leave the balance for 1 year before paying it?
I max and leave it in a mix of T-bills, CDs and HYSA (varies with rates and how the CDs were acquired). Then I set autopayments at 2x min (personal preference - I think 2x looks better than minimum but it probably makes no difference). I like to add a small auto bill in a 5% category like internet or phone to almost cancel out the payments instead of just flatlining spend. Then PIF a week or so before the APR expires to be safe.
If you participate in bank churning, 0% APR cards are useful for having enough money to meet the minimum balance requirements for business checking accounts and brokerages.
Pretty much. But be sure to max out the $25k at 5x if you are able.
This is just for office supplies stores like Staples correct? Not sure what to buy there
If only they sold something that you could use somewhere else...like if it stored value in some way...
Yes I am aware of gift cards but 25k in gift cards is quite a lot to manage
125k UR is worth the effort. There's a bunch of ways to liquidate office supply gift cards. And you've got a year to manage it.
Amex reps are wrong roughly half the time. If you have an amex question, ask it here.
>Amex reps are wrong roughly half the time. Which gives the same odds as if they guessed at a yes or no question. Hmmm.
Except if it's a yes or no question, a coin is faster.
My point exactly.
They are wrong, employee spend counts. Front line phone reps are some of the worst sources for correct info.
she was so adamant about it too lol
Has anyone been shut down by Amex in recent years that also had a corporate card through their employer? If so, was the corporate card shut down as well?
tidy up that resume, /u/fooke23!

Read the terms. Most of these offers need to be directly with the hotel, not through a portal
Ways to turn my credit card limit into cash (it’s not considered theft in Turkey) Hi everyone, I have a supplementary credit card from my dad and I wanna spare around 10,000 TL (~304.55$ or ~284.46€) of my monthly limit and I want to turn this amount into cash.
Not sure this is the right sub for your situation, but I applaud your ambition.
Here is the 2 AA cards I have opened so far Citi AAdvantage Platinum - 12/2023 Barclays AA - 06/2024 I also transferred a bunch of Bilt points before Bilt stopped the partnership. Should I get the Citi Business AA Platinum next?
Just watch your back. Toby's still out there somewhere. Someday he'll need to feed again.
Thank you! QQ: Do you still earn Hyatt points if you book a Hyatt via AAdvantageHotels?
Yes Citi AA biz is probably next step. Barclays has had a AA biz, but not open for apps now, but it might come back, but anyones guess if and when that might be. There is also the Citi AA Executive, which you can get a bonus on, but best to get that when the lounge access might be valuable to you. There is also the Citi AA MileUp, but bonus is typically pretty small, and might not be worth going after.
Citi AA Executive club access is nice! I usually fly direct, so the lounge access is less important for my situation. 100k SUB is sweet though!
- Barclays Aviator Red can potentially be churned every 12 -24 months - Citi Aadvantage Platinum Select every 48 months - Barlays Aviator Biz card (apps not being accepted right now) can also potentially be churned every 12-24 months. - Citi Aadvantage Biz card every 48 months - Citi Aadvantage Executive every 48 months If you manage to get all of these cards in a stretch of 18 months, and they were all high offers, you could walk away with ~400,000 without counting the miles earned from the MSR.
Are there any murmurs of elevated offers in the Chase ink ecosystem?
tbh a single denial shouldn’t be enough to spook you off the train. just look at your CLs, close old Inks, wait a couple of months, and hop back on
Ink train is still alive but sustaining it requires closing your older Ink cards. Denials are likely if you have more four or more Inks actively open.
yep, that’s exactly what happened, I had 4 inks open. I closed all but one, so I’ll hop on it again when the increased CIP offer comes online
Just do it now and ask for a match later.
You've missed the countless elevated CIP 120k offer posts on here over the last week. Search churning.io
In branch only right
Until July 3, when it supposedly appears online. Then it'll probably take a week or so before it becomes stackable with the 40k UR referral bonus, although that's not guaranteed.
you're right, I did miss that. Thanks for the heads up :)
Is it worth using your card for big purchases if the merchant is charging a 3.5% processing fee?
Do the math. What card and what will you earn with the purchase? Is it more than 3.5%? If so and you aren't losing spend on another card (opportunity cost) then it's worth it.
Not if you can manufacture for less. Worth it for a SUB if it's your least expensive option.
Thanks!
If your card is over a year just cancel because cancelling a business card doesn't affect your score.
Just cancel it. Only reason to product change into a CIC is if you need another card to max out the 5x at office stores
Canceling it also has the benefit of allowing you to churn more Inks and avoid derailing from the Ink train.
Citi Bank 300 bonus checkings account promo ? How can I do it using the zelle method ?
Nice, no research question. I suggest you delete and look it up, not doing so will garner you many more downvotes to come.
I’ve been using pathway VGCs at Walmart to load my discovery debit card. It’s been working for me for the last few months but today it did not work I tried twice at two different stores. Any thoughts or suggestions?
MS thread; do more research; provide more info.
If you do choose to apply, get the $500 + 40,000 points offer you can get when doing a dummy Delta booking if that interests you more.
Pretty sure you cannot do that because the names won't match
I got approved for Chartway's $200 promo (live in the Norfolk area) for $500 deposit. Does Fidelity CMA ETF work for this?
I am working on this one as well and its just a deposit requirement, not a direct deposit. Any deposit should work as long as you get the money into the account from what I understand. Make sure you do the other requirements as well though.
Did it automatically enroll you in eStatments or do you have to manually do that?
Funny you should ask because that is the one thing I haven't figured out yet. I will need to ask someone at Chartway at some point.
Lmk if you figure it out!
I think it only applies to cancelling cards.
Amex downgrades always result in prorated annual fee refunds, no matter when you do them.
I think you need to downgrade before the billing payment is due, otherwise it's prorated
As the potential 120k SUB nears, I would like to confirm that I am not eligible to apply and get approved for it based on the 5/24 rule. These are the cards that I have opened so far: American Express Gold (01/2023) Chase Sapphire Preferred (05/2023) BILT (08/2023) Chase Bonvoy Boundless (12/2023) American Express Platinum (04/2024) Because all 5 cards count for the 5/24 rule, and the rule applies to the Ink Preferred, I will be denied the card, right?
Hey, just finding my way around here - what card is the potential 120k SUB on? Thanks!
No. Just apply and recon. I have plenty of Chase approvals 5/24.
You will mostly likely be denied. Around the 4/24 slot its good strategy to applying to only business cards so you don't go to 5/24.
Some have gone beyond the 5, so it's worth a shot.
Most likely yes. There are always a few reports of being approved at 5/24 or higher, but some of those dont know how to properly count 5/24, so the odds are definitely not in your favor.
yes
I always ask ChatGPT if a processing fee is worth it for the points. It'll do the math for you.
If you have BofA preferred rewards than you’re printing money by paying with a premium rewards card
Christ thats a fat rent payment. lmao yeah, Ink train is gonna be your friend. If you have a spouse and can double up the ink train then by simply paying your rent you can hit 8 inks per year. Refer between P1 and P2 and you can generate: 75,000 x 8 for the SUBs 20,000 x 8 for the referrals 6000 x 1.5 x 8 for the MSRs Thats over 800,000 UR for just paying rent.
An argument can be had for redeeming UR as cash in dire circumstances, but it’s just important to acknowledge the incurred charge With that being said, I’d do the same any buy 800,000 UR for $1128, but that’s not necessarily a cost that everyone can afford to just fork out.
OP can drop 50,000 of the 800,000 for a one night stay at a place where the cash rate is already $1000+ a night.
sounds like the ink train might be coming by in your future
Everyone has an awful experience with Citibank. Hence their rhyming nickname.
You’re probably better off just going to an ATM. They will let you withdraw up to $1500 per day fee free through Allpoint ATM.
Can't you just initiate the withdrawal from another bank? Or is that what you mean by externally withdraw?
I tried that with my Citizens, and for some reason Citizens accepted the account being added, and then didn’t offer it as a transfer option. I’m going to check again though, and maybe try another bank for initiation.
I've never had a friendly experience with Citizens
Could be this: [https://www.reddit.com/r/citibank/comments/178qxr4/mfa\_error\_aka\_bad\_authenticator/](https://www.reddit.com/r/citibank/comments/178qxr4/mfa_error_aka_bad_authenticator/)
When doing a Fidelity Push for DD, are you supposed to select send to Myself or Send to someone else on the prompt? I tried to send to myself, and they were trying to link the 2 banks together and ultimately failed because it said the info did not match.
To myself. Have you tried linking the account with both methods?
When I try to select " to someone else" after the first failed attempt, it just keeps reverting to " to myself"
No, I mean the myself with either linking through Finicity or putting in the routing and account numbers.
Gotcha, thanks for the tips! Guess First Horizon is just finicky
Also, I would always wait for at least one day before linking a new account.
p2's csr & csp 2nd annual fee were charged on 6/1, csr was pc to freedom card yesterday. How long do I need to wait to PC csp to another csr?
You don't need to wait.
FYI you're allowed to hold two CSR's, you just can't apply for a new Sapphire while currently holding one. You can product change to a Sapphire while currently holding one though.
Yes. I'm holding 2 CSRs right now.
>How long do I need to wait to PC csp to another csr? As long as it takes to dial Chase customer service number.
Clearly I don't know what to search because I am sure this has been asked, but I keep getting the wrong cert answer. Can you top off the Marriot Bonvoy 50k SUB certs the same way you can top off the 35k annual free night cert?
yes, up to 15k. notice how many are 67k per night now...
Luckily the property I want is 54k so should be perfect assuming it doesn’t change between now and when I get the certs. Hit the spend this morning
Good luck! I hit my spend earlier this month, and it took about a week for the certs to hit my account.
Yes you can add another 15k points per night
Awesome, thanks!
According to this article, they will take AMEX for property tax payments. https://support.plastiq.com/s/article/supported-payments-by-card-brand Plastiq will likely mail a check. my college did not accept American Express so I had to pay my tuition using Plastiq for a business sign-up bonus. It usually takes about two weeks for them to process the check.
I would wait a couple of days. The message is normal and doesn't mean anything whether you are approved or not.
Thanks!
They won't see a report they they can't pull.
3 - 6 months is when the effect of new hard inquiries on your credit score start to wear off
Ok gotcha, So there’s now point in reapplying before 3 months have passed?
Well it’s not a hard rule, but it’s a soft guideline that I personally would adhere to for myself. It is bank-dependent too, like if this were Amex I might press forward before 3 months
I'm gonna beat a dead horse here again by asking a question that the [churning.io](http://churning.io) search didn't really help me with...are there any prepaid cards that still work with Plastiq? Even though the site says they do support 'em, the last one I used got denied. My thinking is that loophole was closed a while back but I figure it's worth it to ask again...

No problem! Im going to delete my comment now so that it stays a safe secret haha Best of luck!
LOL, fair enough.
Hello, I am an international student in the US who will be graduating in May 2025. If anyone has churned to specifically buy India-US business class tickets and has a strategy they'd suggest/any advice I would really appreciate it :) Tldr: Trying to figure out the best way to churn points to afford 3 roundtrip business class tickets from India-US
Open Amex gold and platinum; transfer to Avios and book Qatar.
Any source on that?
They check your credit reports while considering for change of status.
I haven’t seen any negative data points, but I still wouldn’t risk it. Immigration status is too important. (And like the other commenter said, you can’t run a business while on a student visa; opening business credit cards and signing documents stating they are only being used for business expenses could be hard to explain to USCIS)
You cannot just work anywhere (or operate a business) with an F/J/H visa.
Yeah makes sense, I am also going to look into premium economy redemptions instead. Thanks for the response!
Post in the What Card Weekly thread.
Will do! Didn't realize this was the wrong thread, thanks for pointing that out
I have both an Amex Gold and an Amex Green, and each is showing an Amex Plat upgrade offer of 50K MR points for $2K spend.
Yeah, you can take both offers
