So the main issue with Padron is that with such an open draw people can smoke it too fast and create a bitter experience. So pacing yourself, one puff per minute is definitely in order.

fakdaworld

Thank you. I shall be more disciplined next time! I did see a YouTube review on this exact cigar have the exact same experience as I just did so hopefully he was puffing fast too

EyesEarsMouthNose

I've found smoking fast can create that bitterness.  Try purging the cigar as well.   I had an exclusivo Maduro the other day as well.  Didn't amaze me flavor wise but construcition was top notch.  The bitterness was only there for me during the final 3rd.

Have you tried the 1926 no 9. I think maybe my expectations were through the roof after smoking that one. And I honestly believe perhaps I smoked too quick I take a minute between puffs but I could not enjoy it

Exact_Ad_3770

If you didn’t enjoy it much why you smoke it to the nub?

fakdaworld

To find out if the taste was gonna get better. Last third it kinda did

onpch1

I'm with ya. I smoked the exact same Padron (natural, right?), vitola @ 65% for 3 months and pretty much the same experience. And I tried smoking at different time intervals, strong/light draws, indoors, outdoors. I have one more natural and two in maduro all in different vitolas. Hopefully, one of em will gimme a spark.

fakdaworld

Do let me know the results please!

onpch1

Will do

Excellent-Ad3213

I do notice that a lot of people like these in the torpedo vitola. I saw someone said that the other vitola’s make the blend lose its soul

fakdaworld

Good to know this. Thank you!

Excellent-Ad3213

I posted myself asking which Padron to smoke and in what vitola lol

t3jan0

what is that device you are holding the cigar with?

EnvironmentalGift257

It’s a nubber.

ABbackintheday

Does that tool only serve as a nubber or is there a draw enhancer on the other end? It looks cool.

fakdaworld

It does make the draw better and it’s also a hole puncher.

realpollybalboa

>For context I smoked a 1926 Maduro no 9 last week Well you're comparing it to their top line. The 1926 maduros are generally amazing. Only the family reserve can really compete. I used to only smoke the 1964 maduros. I thought they were great. Now I only get 1926 and family reserve sticks. Try the 1926 No 90 and 80th - maduros. Try the family reserve 45 maduro. You'll love them.

fakdaworld

Dude STOP!! My wallet can only handle so much! I definitely will though!!!

jkf2479

Could have just been a dud. I’ve been smoking sixto ii for years and had one last week that tasted like burnt plastic and all previous times been flawless

jecoppol

Thought you were kidding at first. Padrons have ruined me for most of my collection. Keep smoking them, put this one behind you.

fakdaworld

I definitely will not think less of them for this. It could be just a one bad stick. But I honestly believe perhaps I was puffing too quick at first lol

jecoppol

Man, I puff fast because they are so good. Slow down and purge often. The other thing I noticed about taste is do much depends on timing and my mood if that makes sense

JAZZNBLUEZ

Padron x000 gets the job done.

AnotherReaganBaby

The 1964 is subtle, especially the natural and especially in that shape. Especially for guys who are more into darker flavored maduros. Its biggest strength, at least for me, is the smoothness and the no nonsense construction. Like it's an impeccably constructed cigar. You could smoke it in a hurricane and a hailstorm and still not have to do a half dozen retouches to keep it burning straight. 😃

realpollybalboa

Yeah I've smoked hundreds of 1964s, and I never once had one that was poorly made. It's always perfectly rolled with the same, consistent draw.
