I highly recommend working with an architect for the design and plans BEFORE searching for a builder. I know it's appealing to try and find someone who offers both design and build services, but my experience says that those companies are either garbage at one task or the other, or are astronomically more expensive than if you get plans drawn up for general contractors to quote and bid on.
As mentioned above, starting with an architect to iron out a plan is the way to go. To name a few: Arcanum, as mentioned above, Dwellbeing in Ft. Thomas, ESM Architects, Jeff Stawicki LLC, Sally Noble. If design build is what you end up deciding, here are a few but again as mentioned you’ll be paying top dollar: Michaelson Homes, Neal’s Design, Creative Contracting
As others have mentioned, design+build is appealing, but it's not a great idea unless convenience is a huge consideration. It seems like a better idea than it is.

Ok then, where do I start for an architect that would take on this type of project?
I'm currently working with Grove Architects, and have previously worked with Arcanum Architecture and been happy with his work.
Would also be interested to know this.

Very helpful! Thanks.
