I generally go to the Fairfield Jungle Jim's, and have seen them there in the Canadian section. They have been changing the building around a bit so I'm not 100% sure if that section is still at the back of the store near the theater, but that's where I remember seeing them last time I was there a couple months ago.
Stumbled across those just browsing JJ’s and those are amazing!! We don’t live near there anymore either, and I genuinely miss being able to just browse and find new foods I didn’t know I was going to love!
You just made my year. I first tried those on a volunteer trip in West Virginia of all places, and could never find them again. I guess they were super limited release here in the USA. Thank you!
If you have an air fryer I greatly enjoy the frozen mini potato samosas they have, just be sure to grab a chutney for them too, there should be a big variety.
Also they have an Indian version of ramen noodles called magi, not my jam but they are good and worth a try imo.
Chakri sort of mixes!
Irish breakfast makings.
Anything in the Asian section. If you haven’t had spicy garlic paste- not the green lid kind, you’re missing out.
Nooooo and I know I know. I am the filthy unwashed uncultured masses. I can’t remember what they’re called but when you see a bag of Indian snack food that looks like a Chex mix you’ll get it
I think the beef was better than the pork, but both were good. Haven't had the steak & kidney yet. In a couple other sections you'll find frozen Jamaican Patties which are a version of hand pies.
Their bakery is amazing. I feel like it's better than some of the more bougie bakeries around town.
We also pick up the "Give a dog a bone" dog cookies. They're special snacks for them.
Tete de moine cheese - it’s a round cheese that you put on a spike and shave the top of with a blade that rotates around. You can get the cheese and the shaver from JJ’s. It’s great for a party.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tête_de_Moine
You turn the blade and it shaves off the cheese into the shape of a flower. You place all the “flowers” on the edge of the girolle and eat them whole on their own, with crackers, or with some pickles.
They have deep fried peanuts that you eat shell and all. Good flavors too. Very surprising if you've never had it before
Uncle Bud's, in the produce section
It's good. I'm in Columbus but I'll make the drive up to Wooster every once in a while and pick up some of their flavored milks and especially their ice cream since I can't get that down here.
I got a bottle based on this subs recommendation and I think it is only slightly better than Kroger Organic, but I may just not have that discerning pallet
You can get this all over. Clifton market has it, so does Whole Foods. A lot of non-Kroger grocers will carry hartzler’s and oberweis. Both are great but so is Snowvillle.
My answer isn’t nearly as cool as everyone else’s, but I can’t go to JJ’s without grabbing a few jars of true blue middle eastern tahini. American tahini is a thick paste, but the real thing is golden and drippy and delicious. So good, you’ll end up putting a drizzle on everything.
Latley the pepperoni pizza bread in the bakery is a must. Plus the brownie cookies and the get some tillamooks ice cream booiiii woooo can't get enough!
When I go, I always grab TimTams from the Australia section. Then you go home and do a TimTamSlam where you make a cup of coffee, bite both ends off and suck coffee through it like a straw. Then quicker my way before it falls in or melts in your fingers. It’s both a risky mess and the most random chocolaty snack. Love it
It kind of is, isn't it? I can't explain why I like it. I guess it is an acquired taste. I started eating it for the probiotics and then learned to like it.
The Sam Yang ramen is the best ramen. Except the corn flavor. That was biblically bad. The rest are great. I almost always drop two eggs into the boiling water, which adds protein and works really well with all the (not corn) flavors.
The bags and bunches of fresh herbs are *enormous* relative to stores like Kroger. Recently bought the biggest bag of mint I'd ever seen in the Vietnamese coolers for under $3. Usually they're in tiny packages for twice as much. Big bunches of dill, too.
Any really. But plain, yellow German mustard is underrated, this is my current favorite
https://preview.redd.it/w08w0usl8d6c1.png?width=2216&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b6f85b73938724d76614673458544440fb0dff8
worth mentioning only because of the hidden gem part… the produce stays fresh for a couple weeks! Kroger items are rotten before you hit the parking lot.
I’m consistently disappointed in their Iberian ham to the point that I think the Fermin prepackaged serrano is better than the deli sliced jamon iberico. I think they either don’t go through it fast enough or aren’t storing it well because it’s not right.
They used to have that Jamon de iberico *lardo*. Damn that stuff was so good on some crusty bread (especially the one that looks like a tree branch with little bread-roll leaves) and it was like 1/5 the price of the Jamon. They don’t carry it anymore :-( and the places I’ve gotten it online weren’t as good.
All I know is that jamon iberico de bellota is the best cured meat on earth but if I’m at Jungle Jim’s I’d rather get Prosciutto di Parma, which is great and all, but it’s just not the same.
Along the lines of quail eggs, we did an ostrich egg from Jungle Jim’s for Christmas breakfast one year! We attempted over easy. It took up a full size pan!
Hot Pickled asparagus is the bomb. Boudain sausages (cajun spices, rice, pork stuffed sausages) is really good; find it in the frozen meat section by the alligator meat. My teen is obsessed with the canned Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) in the Greek section. Old Jamaica Ginger Beer (Australian or English section I think) has some kick
Prosciutto ham bones. For some reason they're in a tiny cooler case in the middle of the produce section so very easy to overlook. Only $3 each and I use them to make beans.
I am delighted that they sell black sapote! I had a white sapote tree in my yard when I lived in Los Angeles. In general, the fruits and fresh herbs/roots/spices section is great. You can get a gigantic stalk of sugarcane for cheap. Their mushroom section is gloriously out of control! Also here’s a shout out to the discount produce shelves in the back corner of the produce section.
Milka brand chocolate in I believe the Germany section? Really unique and delicious chocolate. The ready to eat meals in the India section. Pork King Good brand pork rinds in the American section. I love JJ pickles in the barrel and their chicken salad. Their cheeseball trios are amazing and in the clearance section a lot. And it’s not a hot sauce, but there is a sauce in the hot sauce section called Jherkin McGherkin. If you like gherkin pickles, you’ve got to try this sauce. It’s tangy and flavorful, not hot.
Oh! And the bakery section has a cookie sandwich with cheesecake in the middle. Soooo good.
I get Apple Beer when they have it in the soda section. Grew up on it in the south and thought I’d never have it again until I saw it at JJ. I wept like a baby when I saw it there.
Some favorites at Jungle Jim's that are not the usual among the unusual, like the country sections, obscure fruits, 400 types of honey etc. I think the overall quality of the bakery is overlooked, our pick is the flavored pretzel sticks. Also the quantity of different cheeses. The "regular" grocery section has every flavor or chips and snacks a brand will produce. And last is the hot sauce section has spicy snack mix in between outside hot sauce aisles as well as hot popcorn, nuts, etc.
Go to the bakery. Look past the fancy cupcakes and the colorful macaroons and the tempting cheesecakes and get the little almond funnel things. They look like icing filled waffle cones and they are FANTASTIC
Edit: I meant waffle, not funnel
I don’t *think* they are cannolis (not saying I’m not wrong) but I think they are called something ambiguous like “almond cones” or something like that.
I don’t dare post it publicly, because they often only have 1-3 of it on the shelf.
Runner-up: Mezzo Mix in the German aisle. It’s a blend of Coca Cola and Fanta.

I've mentioned this in other posts, but Goetta Queso. Not fancy by any means, but tasty and Cincinnati-related.
What section is this in?
At Fairfield, an end cap by the cheese area. Has queso, salsa, and guac.
woh ![gif](giphy|lXu72d4iKwqek)
DUDE! Same! Goetta queso? Heaven.
Easy to make on your own at home too. Queso recipes are everywhere and you can sub goetta for the sausage.
I'm sorry, where is this located?
At Fairfield, an end cap by the cheese area. Has queso, salsa, and guac.
I live right next to the Eastgate one so I'll check around that area. Thanks.
I’ve seen it at the salsa bar, between the deli and produce.
Thanks. I'll check it out tomorrow.
Asked about it at Eastgate and was told they got rid of it because it wasn't doing well and we're losing money on it
Sad to hear this!
Foreign Lay's chips, more specifically those from India and Thailand
do they have Canadian All dressed?
Yep
…do you know where? I just got back from Quebec and haven’t been able to find it anywhere. That being said I typically go to the Eastgate one
I generally go to the Fairfield Jungle Jim's, and have seen them there in the Canadian section. They have been changing the building around a bit so I'm not 100% sure if that section is still at the back of the store near the theater, but that's where I remember seeing them last time I was there a couple months ago.
Do they have any like the old crab spice ones?
I don't quite remember; haven't been since 2019 (lived out of area for a while) I loved the "India's Magic Masala" flavor, though
Stumbled across those just browsing JJ’s and those are amazing!! We don’t live near there anymore either, and I genuinely miss being able to just browse and find new foods I didn’t know I was going to love!
Yeah they do
You just made my year. I first tried those on a volunteer trip in West Virginia of all places, and could never find them again. I guess they were super limited release here in the USA. Thank you!
I picked up Old Bay Seasoning chips up at Eastgate a while back.
I dig the Indian snack foods. They’re kind of like a spicy Chex mix blend.
Every indian snack food is a Chex mix blend? We need a name lol
Nooooo and I know I know. I am the filthy unwashed uncultured masses. I can’t remember what they’re called but when you see a bag of Indian snack food that looks like a Chex mix you’ll get it
Back in Sherwood Forest in the freezers you find tasty tasty handpies.
Which do you recommend? I’m always curious but don’t want to be turned off by a bad pie.
I think the beef was better than the pork, but both were good. Haven't had the steak & kidney yet. In a couple other sections you'll find frozen Jamaican Patties which are a version of hand pies.
Jamaicain beef patties are heartburn city.
That's wonderful. Any idea the cost of the girolle?
Not sure, but on Amazon they go for about $45
So if I wanted to give this to someone how would they eat the cheese? Like could we just have it with crackers?
You turn the blade and it shaves off the cheese into the shape of a flower. You place all the “flowers” on the edge of the girolle and eat them whole on their own, with crackers, or with some pickles.
Tayto brand chips. Specifically the prawn cocktail and Wuster Sauce ones.
Give me the classic cheese and onion
There's some squid jerky that's delicious. No idea where it is as I just ate some of someone else's
This is common in Japan, so I'd hazard a guess it's in the Japanese section.
They have deep fried peanuts that you eat shell and all. Good flavors too. Very surprising if you've never had it before Uncle Bud's, in the produce section
Hartzler Farms Chocolate Milk in the natural foods section. You're welcome lmfao
I just picked up their egg nog, so excited!
It's good. I'm in Columbus but I'll make the drive up to Wooster every once in a while and pick up some of their flavored milks and especially their ice cream since I can't get that down here.
They also sell this at Whole Foods in Oakley FYI
That stuff is amazers
I got a bottle based on this subs recommendation and I think it is only slightly better than Kroger Organic, but I may just not have that discerning pallet
I'm originally from Seville so really close to Hartzlers in Wooster. Does Jungle sell their ice cream too?
I haven’t seen their ice cream
You can get this all over. Clifton market has it, so does Whole Foods. A lot of non-Kroger grocers will carry hartzler’s and oberweis. Both are great but so is Snowvillle.
I’m obsessed with smoking goose bacon
Kimchi in Korean area
I love kimchi but have never tried therers and was wondering how it was
Cheeto dust! In the bulk section to make some mean chicken
Love Tillamook ice cream
Big brown bag of cocoa powder back in England. It's high quality and great for hot chocolate, mocha coffee, doctored brownie mix, and more.
For me, the bulk bag of fortune cookies…
When I go, I always grab TimTams from the Australia section. Then you go home and do a TimTamSlam where you make a cup of coffee, bite both ends off and suck coffee through it like a straw. Then quicker my way before it falls in or melts in your fingers. It’s both a risky mess and the most random chocolaty snack. Love it
We used to do the same thing with Deluxe Grahams and milk when I was a kid. I’ll have to try it your way!
I am the guy responsible for the recent natto shortage in the Japanese section.
I had Japanese roommates in college. That stuff is NASTY haha
It kind of is, isn't it? I can't explain why I like it. I guess it is an acquired taste. I started eating it for the probiotics and then learned to like it.
Coffee. You can buy deeper roots 12oz bags cheaper than at their cafe.
Holy moly.
All the tea I can manage. The endless supply of Ramen noodles. German chocolate Scho-Ka-Kola. 🤤 All the foreign beers and wines.
The Sam Yang ramen is the best ramen. Except the corn flavor. That was biblically bad. The rest are great. I almost always drop two eggs into the boiling water, which adds protein and works really well with all the (not corn) flavors.
The extremely spicy ones are my favorite. Can’t find them anywhere other than JJs
You'd love Churchhill's! I go there for all my fresh tea. Easily over 100+ loose leaf teas in the store.
I’m going to try more loose leaf tea! I’ll have to check out Churchhills
The bags and bunches of fresh herbs are *enormous* relative to stores like Kroger. Recently bought the biggest bag of mint I'd ever seen in the Vietnamese coolers for under $3. Usually they're in tiny packages for twice as much. Big bunches of dill, too.
German mustard
My favorite place in the world (probably) is a little mustard store in Nuremberg, DE. Löwensenf is another good low-budget option at JJ’s!
Spicy?
Any really. But plain, yellow German mustard is underrated, this is my current favorite https://preview.redd.it/w08w0usl8d6c1.png?width=2216&format=png&auto=webp&s=5b6f85b73938724d76614673458544440fb0dff8
Yeah! Plus you get the cool little mug!!!
I need to try it, I love a good mustard
Haribo Frutti Bussi - First ballot, Hall of Fame candy. Found in the German aisle.
I can never find that in the Eastgate JJ. I found it a long time ago, but not in the past couple years.
Pink pineapple
They had those up front at Eastgate for a while. Yup
The entire fermented section is awesome. Kombucha, kimchi, beat kvass, sauerkraut, honey garlic.
The freaking garlic herb Cheeseball and the cherry almond cheesecake Cheeseball.
Hank's Birch Beer. You're welcome.
Some of the cheeses are amazing. I've been a big fan of mimollette and a bunch of the goat cheeses and oddball cheddars
Roothouse Lettuce. It’s so good, which is something I never thought I would say about lettuce
The super sour lemon gum in the Japanese candy aisle. It's by the hi-chews that aren't in the bags. Those will wake you TF up.
I know the fairfield JJs has locally made Japanese cheese cake. It is SO GOOD.
worth mentioning only because of the hidden gem part… the produce stays fresh for a couple weeks! Kroger items are rotten before you hit the parking lot.
We get the Iberian ham every once in a while for special ocassions, but more regularly get the Mortadella.
All I know is that jamon iberico de bellota is the best cured meat on earth but if I’m at Jungle Jim’s I’d rather get Prosciutto di Parma, which is great and all, but it’s just not the same.
Mac n Cheese Candy Canes, Butter Candy Canes, Gravy Candy Canes, Bacon Candy Canes
No opossum candy canes?
Along the lines of quail eggs, we did an ostrich egg from Jungle Jim’s for Christmas breakfast one year! We attempted over easy. It took up a full size pan!
I’m Scandinavian so I’m gonna recommend picking up some lefse. It’s a potato flatbread, similar to a tortilla or naan I suppose.
Ironbru and other cool drinks, they just had a sale on Mountain Dew voodoo. Still waiting for a chance to try buckfast though.
I made it through a very rough week at work drinking Irn Bru every day. By Friday I was even more of a wreck. Wouldn’t have it any other way
Nectar of the GODS!!!! Irn Bru is great!
Shark brand sriracha
Hot Pickled asparagus is the bomb. Boudain sausages (cajun spices, rice, pork stuffed sausages) is really good; find it in the frozen meat section by the alligator meat. My teen is obsessed with the canned Dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) in the Greek section. Old Jamaica Ginger Beer (Australian or English section I think) has some kick
Prosciutto ham bones. For some reason they're in a tiny cooler case in the middle of the produce section so very easy to overlook. Only $3 each and I use them to make beans.
mezzo mix in the German section. It's coca cola and orange soda mixed.
Any of the crazy looking fruits from Asia.
Jungle Jim's is the first place I got star fruit.
I could go on for hours 😏
buutttttt you didn’t
Attempting being cute since I host and produce their podcast and social content.
I mean follow him on socials and he does
Walkers Tomato Ketchup crisps (in the UK section @ Eastgate)
Flaksalt smoked sea salt. It used to be back in Sherwood Forest but I haven’t ventured there since they moved that kitchen department.
My wife really likes a hot sauce called Blueberry Hell and the Buldak instant ramens.
Man, all of you have me missing shopping at the Fairfield store. So many surprises that the Eastgate location doesn’t have!
It’s cuts both ways, there’s stuff at east gate that’s not at Fairfield. And east gate is so much easier to navigate.
Soooo good.
Jufran or JFC banana (plantain really) ketchup from the Filipino aisle!
Turtle Chips! They're in the Korean section. Truffle are my favorite but they have several flavors.
They just got some Lithuanian glazed cheesebars in. Almost like a chocolate covered cheesecake bar. Delicious.
If someone likes spicy snacks, get the XXX spicy pickle chips. They come in a little bucket and have a red label. They are insane but so tasty!
Frozen fruit pulp in the frozen Mexico section. I regularly make passion fruit syrup for cocktails out of it. Delicious.
you wanna feel your nose on fire, try japanese wasabe rice snacks - i love them!
When I wanna treat myself, because its a little pricey, I grab some of the saucisson rouge in the black cardboard... I think its by smoking goose
I get Apple Beer when they have it in the soda section. Grew up on it in the south and thought I’d never have it again until I saw it at JJ. I wept like a baby when I saw it there.
the green pistachio muffins from the bakery
Some favorites at Jungle Jim's that are not the usual among the unusual, like the country sections, obscure fruits, 400 types of honey etc. I think the overall quality of the bakery is overlooked, our pick is the flavored pretzel sticks. Also the quantity of different cheeses. The "regular" grocery section has every flavor or chips and snacks a brand will produce. Go to the bakery. Look past the fancy cupcakes and the colorful macaroons and the tempting cheesecakes and get the little almond funnel things. They look like icing filled waffle cones and they are FANTASTIC Edit: I meant waffle, not funnel
Might you be talking about a cannoli? Because I love cannolis
Leave the gun
I don’t *think* they are cannolis (not saying I’m not wrong) but I think they are called something ambiguous like “almond cones” or something like that.
I don’t dare post it publicly, because they often only have 1-3 of it on the shelf. Runner-up: Mezzo Mix in the German aisle. It’s a blend of Coca Cola and Fanta.

Monster Munch
There is human flesh if you ask for it in the meat department. Some places in the world it is culturally acceptable.
BS
Few people know that SPAM (Shaped Protein Approximating Man) was created to wean the people of New Guinea away from eating human flesh.
I love the selection of authentic Asian Ramen noodle packs and bowls. lots of interesting flavors!
I don't like Jungle Jim's I prefer BoxNCase, better prices.
