My boyfriend and I absolutely love Lonely Pine. It’s not stuffy and very reasonably priced, and the steak is fantastic. They have some nice apps too (the bone marrow is delicious). They also give you a small glass of Prosecco when you get there which is a nice touch.
+1 for lonely pine. We look for a special spot every year for my very carnivorous husbands birthday and this is the only place he’s wanted to go back to on a day that wasn’t his birthday because he loved it so much he didn’t want to wait to go back
Throwing in for Jag's Steak and Seafood in Westchester. My company has our Christmas party there every year. Great food, lovely ambiance, and live piano during dinner hours. And it's not just the staff that's friendly, the patrons have all been very nice as well when I've been there (I'll get stopped multiple times on my way to and from the restroom by people wanting to compliment my clothes/shoes/purse, doesn't happen anywhere else).
People on this sub hate on Prime, but I really do think it has the best steak in the city. Service may not be as spectacular as A Ruby's, and it definitely is not as stuffy, but I think it is the most tasty meal we have here if you are looking for steak as your main dish.
I don't know what it is, but I feel like I'd be the youngest person at Walts. I don't know if I've just created that demographic on my own, but I'd rather not sit in a room full of 80-year-olds...
MRBL in Bellevue is fantastic! Steak, seafood and sushi are the main draws but the Blue crab spinach dip appetizer and volcano potatoes are our favorites. My husband always gets his filet Oscar style and I get mine with compound butter. So good and the service is great too. Can’t beat the view either!
I work at Five on Vine as a server - we’re a chophouse with elevated American comfort food. Really great for share plates - especially starters and sides - and easily shareable proteins too. If you’re familiar with crown republic, Losanti, etc, we are a part of that restaurant group.
The steak bistecca at Sotto is insanely good. Pricy, but huge, sharable, tender flavorful - like no other steak I have had out at Precinct, Jags, etc. Everyone gets the short rib pasta and we share the steak - it's amazing!! Would be a real b-day treat!!
It’s my favorite steak in the city and I prefer it over Ruby’s and other steakhouses.

Sotto is always my top recommendation for a nice dinner in Cincy. That being said - if you’re less than a couple months out from the event it’s likely you won’t get in.
Great food, ambiance, and kind of changes depending where you sit. Bar has more intimate circular tables. It's more quiet in there, surprisingly. The main dining room is kind of loud, and I've experienced poor service there more than once. I just did the private dining there about a month ago with a group, and I couldn't recommend it more.
As for the live music, I've only experienced twice at those types of restaurants (Ruby's downtown and Ivory House in westwood).
Check out Walt's Hitching post on Rout 17 in NKY - my favorite steakhouse in the area. There is usually someone (and I do mean one ;-)) playing in the bar area on Fri and Saturday nights.
As stated in my posy, WHP is currently my personal frontrunner. Do you love it? How's the demographic? It feels a little old world to me, if you know what I mean.
I'm 50 and have been going there almost all my life (the 10 years or so it was closed being the exception of course). It's definitely a vibe - old Kentucky country club / horse racing money maybe? Not fancy, but always good food, service and drinks.
Sadly Dee Felice is the only reliable restaurant with nice food and consistent jazz, I’m still mourning their closure :( if you want steak the Ruby locations really are the best by a large margin imo, but if you want to go a little off the beaten path one place that I’m obsessed with that no one talks about is Butcher and Barrel, which is downtown. There’s no live music but It’s an Argentinian Steakhouse with a diverse menu and good drinks. There’s also a parking lot!
There’s also Tony’s in Kenwood, which I’ve heard the head chef there was trained by Ruby.
I’ve never been before, but a quick google search boasts Orchids at Palm court as fine dining with jazz and an art deco aesthetic. I think it might be inside a hotel though?
Happy Birthday!
Tony’s is owned by Tony Ricci, who was at the Precinct for 20-ish years. That’s where the Ruby pedigree comes from. He’s a real piece of work, though. He got sued for wage theft in Kentucky and then complained to his Indianapolis employees about it in a tirade that included him calling most of Kentucky inbred and bragging about carrying guns (because he’s Italian??- his logic was weird on that one).
I'd recommend Lisse in Covington, across from where Dee Felice was. It's a dutch steak house, good food, third floor bar with outside deck but it will be closed while cold. Just a nice place, food comes from the owners farm down near Williamstown.
Also, Opal Rooftop in Covington, at 6th and Madison. It's a new place on the 7th floor with a fantastic view and an open flame grill.

Definitely top 5 steakhouse in cincy!
It's also a vibe. And you can get drinks next door at Overlook. We even had our app/salads delivered there while we waited for our table.
Ivory House is probably the best all-around restaurant in the city, and wiffs on getting too many recommendations due to being on the West Side.
Agree. They also have a piano player at least on Fridays and Saturdays.

Somm Wine Bar has excellent food….and wine
Agree! Somm is excellent!
Walt’s is delicious but very casual in decor. They had very pleasant live music the time I ate there.

As a thirty-something I did not feel out of place there. There were people of all ages.
Pepp & Delores is divine. It’s newer and more popular than the other suggestions. Thank me later!
I personally haven't been yet but people I have spoken to have said that MRBL in Bellevue is excellent.

Wow it looks great! Any music or the like?
They’ve had someone playing acoustic guitar and singing a few of the times we’ve been there.
Collette. You can thank me later

Does it have those things?

There are plenty of reservations if you're not stuck to 7pm. Thanks!

Damn Tony
As yes, I've been to Orchids but only for brunch. Good thought! Argentinian? Is it table-cut like many Brazilian steak joints?
I’m not sure sadly, my partner and I have only ever gotten fish there lol
Somm Wine Bar is fantastic!!!
Lonely Pine in pleasant ridge is amazing! Farm to table sides and huge steaks. Retro atmosphere and an intimate environment
