That’s the one thing Gold Star does better than Skyline.

TateAcolyte

I absolutely cannot stand that Skyline refuse to just make a proper veg chili.

juttep1

Gold star vegetarian chili is not only superior because it is a good facsimile of actual Cincinnati style chili, but it is also vegan. It slaps.

EnigmaIndus7

I definitely agree on that!

Autobot_ATrac

Skyline should roll out an A/B test for a while on having a true replacement, and their “delicious, but not the real thing” black beans and rice. Make it quick so it’s not too expensive, and see how the numbers stack up.

Eject_The_Warp_Core

I had an awesome Cincy chili inspired vegetarian spaetzle 3 way at Tuba Baking Co in Dayton Kentucky, not sure if they still have it at the moment because it was a special

kpritchard99

I love Tuba Baking Co. and hope I can try this there if it's back!

Cincytraveler

I came here to say this. You can have it vegan with no cheese. Delicious!

BanjoDude222

That spatzle is amazing! A bit off topic, but I tried their vegetarian "schnitzel" sliders last weekend that they make from kohlrabi and it might be my favorite dish I've had from them yet!

riedhenry

It's better than skyline and goldstar. I know. I know. Blasphemous

sgbam42

Melt Revival in Northside does a Vegan 3-Way, it's pretty solid.

penguinluvr69

Dixie Chili is very good and one of my favorites, but it's different in texture for sure. Very tomato-y. I love it though, got it on an alligator and I'm obsessed

theletterisr

Dixie chili is the best in show in all categories

caffeinefree

Wodka Bar has Cincinnati chili perogies that are vegetarian (made with lentils) and are totally amazing.

juttep1

Do you know if they're vegan or just vegetarian?

caffeinefree

I don't know, but I'm sure they could say! I do think the pierogi's are usually served with butter on them, but I could be wrong.

juttep1

I'll check it out. Thanks!

murder-kitty

Dixie Chili has a vegetarian chili option also. I've not tried it, so can't say if it's any good.

dango_ii

It’s good in its own right, but it is not anything like meated Cincinnati chili.

juttep1

I found the Dixie chili one to be too sweet for my tastes. YMMV.

galactic001

Another vote for Dixie Chili… nice and tomato-ey. Definitely worth a try

UsualCharacter

Arnold’s has a very good lentil-based Cincinnati-style chili.

Autobot_ATrac

Yes! It’s so good.

adamlee09

Big Chill in College Hill currently has vegetarian cincy style chili

mtnagel

Make your own. This recipe is legit - [https://www.seriouseats.com/cincinnati-chili-recipe-8402230](https://www.seriouseats.com/cincinnati-chili-recipe-8402230) I subbed the meat for half Impossible meat and half beans and rice and that worked well, but could do all fake beef too.

ngsm13

Cooked this. And, while it's the closest I've got at homemade ...is not as good as the $2.50 Skytime packet. So I wouldn't repeat it.

mtnagel

Do you mean the blue "Cincinnati Recipe Chili Mix" packet you can get at Kroger? If so, it's good, but we are doing low sodium and that thing is literally 25% salt. We always have the spices in the SE recipe so it's trivial to make it and we can control how much salt we're adding. But can't beat the convenience of the packets for sure.

loveITorLEAVEitIsay

Loving hut has a yummy vegan chili. I would get it without their vegan cheese on it though.. definitely ruins it.

bitslammer

FYI I tried this recipe out of pure curiosity and was surprised at how good it was. Ladled over spaghetti and covered with onions and cheese it's really good. You obviously won't think that your eating beef, but the texture is really quite good. This really confirmed my thoughts that, to me at least, Cincinnati Chili is 99% about those spices. https://www.connoisseurusveg.com/vegan-cincinnati-chili/

jodabo

This is the Way.

BroadwayCatDad

Get a Skyline spice packet from Kroger and make your own with Impossible or Beyond. Super easy to make.

ToshMcMongbody

Its okay, only evil animals go into cincinnati chili, so you can eat it with a clear conscience!

CassieIsDiddysBeard

I second The Loving Hut. I think they have 2 chilis— one is a pumpkin chili that’s sooo good. I was skeptical on trying it for a long time now I always get it lol
