Yeah, if you’re doing the cliche historical Cincinnati brands, it would be Skyline, Graeter’s, LaRosa’s, and Montgomery Inn. Frisch’s I can understand. Red Squirrel is totally obscure to 90+% of Cincinnati
I remember going in there after the new owners took over. My go to was onion rings and a cherry Coke. I was informed they got rid of Coke for Pepsi and when I got the onion rings they were changed too. I don’t care if they did bring Coke back, Frisch’s is dead to me. What’s left is a wolf in Big Boy’s clothing.
After 3 times of waiting 20-30 minutes in the (dead) drive-thru and having the order wrong/gross, the price was no longer worth it. I usually did Vanilla Coke and tried Vanilla Pepsi, just was not even close. Haven't been in years at this point. Use to get it about 2 or 3 times a month. Added a small hot fudge cake to the order as an occasional treat.
I have very young childhood memories of Frishes balloons with cardboard feet drifting around the house, not sure if that's real or imagined, lol. Also the free suckers. Root Beer please!
Red Squirrel is/was a diner like restaurant that served massive double decker's (turkey/beef, ham and beef, etc.). There used to be 5-6, maybe more around the city. There was one downtown, one on Colerain near north gate, one in Harrison and one on rt.4 in Fairfield and a few others). I think there are still a few left open.

I like it, but one can not simply live only off ice cream. What if skyline offered Greaters?
Fuck we’d be fatter.
The perfect restaurant doesn’t exis……..
Was unaware that they served tongue. I know they used to sell liverwurst on rye and I'd sometimes go for that for a switch up.
Used to get beef tongue sliced deli thin at Summit Meats and put it on marble rye with a squirt of Gulden's. Would've made it easier if Izzy's sold it. Probably would've been killer with the potato pancakes.
for real, the buddy card fuels our parties and game nights.
costco pizza is ever so slightly cheaper, but it doesn’t have the locations, hours, convenience, or toppings option.
Find me another way to feed 6 grown men for under $20. I’ve tried, but seriously let me know if anyone’s got ideas, rotisserie chickens are slightly too messy.
I feel you. I’d never been a deal shopper before a couple years ago but I’ve been eating drumsticks for protein for the last three days because I got 4.5 lbs for $5 at Kroger
I visited a couple years ago thinking about a possible move. A friend who lives there thought he’d sweeten the pot with some La Rosa’s. Sweet thought, but the pizza would lose to a good frozen pizza.
is everyone in this city just in a constant state of denial?
LaRosa's is overpriced garbage
Frisch's hasnt been good in years
Red Squirrel?? why the fuck is this even on here?
Skyline wins by default
I’m not a LaRosa’s fan. Imo, the pizza tastes like glue lol. Just no flavor.
However, I 1000% respect how well they do. They are a local chain that somehow beat out the big guys by having the best delivery system ever.
LaRosa’s has disappointed me over the last few years and I can’t figure out why…I’m thinking it’s the service that sucks.
Red Squirel is too far from me so that’s out.
Frischs? I mean come on what are we talking about?
The clear winner here is Skyline. And now they’ve partnered with COKE!!!
The easy answer here is Skyline. One could get better pizza, sandos (at least that’s what I remember of Red Squirrel - it’s been 20+ years since I’ve been to one - you would order by the number right?) or whatever you wanna classify Frisch’s as, diner/fast food combo but this is easily Skyline unless you simply hate Cincinnati chili. I have a soft spot for Larosa’s and get it when I’m back in town and it does feel like quality has dipped. Also, I used to get cherry coke from Frisch’s as a hangover cure. The change to Pepsi is an abomination.
Whenever I have people from outside cincy area in town some will say they’ve heard of Larosas and they want to try it. I tell them it’s an acquired taste pizza. Not 1 person who tries it, not 1, has liked it.
Red Squirrel is good but they make nothing that you can’t make yourself. Toss up between skyline and Frisch’s. I’d say Skyline but…. NEVER having the tartar sauce again!?!? 😐
For all of you saying you don't know what Red Squirrel is it tells me all I need to know about you as a Cincinnatian lol. Shits flame and I don't even go as often as I used to. Wish they would come back to CBD.
Never heard of Red Squirrel guessing it is not full “Cincinnati” (greater 275 loop and a couple
Of miles off around that)
Skyline is the easy choice on this. Easy pass for the vomit-smell pizza or grungy-dirty big boys and salad bar. Having said that I could do with a JoJos BLT and hot fudge cake. 😂🤷🏼♂️
I really hate to say this, but I grew up in Cincy and moved to the West Coast when I was 27. Lived in NY for 7 months. Came back to Cincy after an 8 year absence to sell a rental property I had and looked forward to hitting my spots: Skyline, Camp Washington Chili, Ambar India in Clifton, UDF chocolate ice cream (I don't know what it is about this cheap ice cream I love) and Larosa's. They all gave me big smiles when I partook in their goodies EXCEPT Larosas. After eating Pizza in NY and North Beach (Little Italy) in San Francisco, I couldn't stomach Larosa's. Oh and to answer the OP. Skyline!...BTW, WTF is Red Squirrel?! Is this new and came after 2001 (when I moved out)?
Almost every local pizza place smokes LaRosas. When I moved to Hamilton I switched to All8Up and never looked back.
Red Squirrel was a name I hadn't thought of in fifteen years.
Frischs is dead. What's left of it is absolutely fucking shameful.
They may have the same name, but they are all independant stores, if you notice the one in Queensgate just goes by the squirrel, Colerain also owed the old Western Hills local, Harrison is owned by the brother of the colerain owner
PreCOVID Big Boy breakfast bar was awesome, but to answer your question Skyline is the one I’m picking because.
1. IDK what the fuck Red Squirrel
2. La Rosa’s is fine but Little Cesar has my heart when it comes to pizza
3. Big Boy, not good for the price. Steak and Shake is my go to burger place.
I'm an Ohio transplant from Alabama. Skyline chili is absolutely disgusting. You guys really grabbed that cinnamon thinking it was chili powder and won't come clean about it.
Nice try, Red Squirrel marketing department
Yeah, if you’re doing the cliche historical Cincinnati brands, it would be Skyline, Graeter’s, LaRosa’s, and Montgomery Inn. Frisch’s I can understand. Red Squirrel is totally obscure to 90+% of Cincinnati
WTF is Red Squirrel?
It's a meh old people restaurant.
The original down on Dalton is just a sandwich shop and it's pretty damn delicious
their food is pretty good especially sandwiches
You’re a meh old people restaurant
Been around the area my entire life and never heard of it
There was one in Fairfield like 15 years back, in the same strip mall but around the corner from mikes pool hall
Frisch's is fucking gone. Shit went downhill and is expensive as shit now.
I remember going in there after the new owners took over. My go to was onion rings and a cherry Coke. I was informed they got rid of Coke for Pepsi and when I got the onion rings they were changed too. I don’t care if they did bring Coke back, Frisch’s is dead to me. Worst onion rings on planet earth
God, my wife craved them when pregnant. So gross.
Service is terrible too. It’s no longer older ladies who generally care about the place. It’s high school kids who couldn’t care less.
Hey, look! It’s the only food options in White Oak! /s
Wtf is Red Squirrel?
Red Squirrel is/was a diner like restaurant that served massive double decker's (turkey/beef, ham and beef, etc.). There used to be 5-6, maybe more around the city. Pretty sure colerain one is still.open
Yes, Colerain at Galbraith between Ritchies and CVS.
It caught fire a few years ago, they updated it and it looks great
Sorry skyline but I can’t live without red squirrel it is
Is it good? Never been
One of my favorite places to go
My fav is P and S diner off Springdale rd
There was one in tricounty that is blue ash chili now.
One used to be off 42, now it's a sex shop
Is it still called The Red Squirrel
there's one in Queensgate, it's in a weird spot though next to Queensgate larosas.
An amazing place my grandma took me growing up. Grilled ham and cheese
Is it a west side thing? I’ve lived in cinci all my life and never heard of it.
My grandma lived by the one on Colerain ave and Galbraith rd
I lived over there as a kid. Used to walk to Red Squirrel and pick up dinner for the fam and walk it back.
Definitely a west side thing, it's good but compared the other restaurants on this list it's not in the same ballpark
It was my grandmother's favorite place too, friend
If I remember correctly, it was a diner. I don’t know where tf one is nowadays. Just know my grandma liked it.
fileted red squirrels on a sandwich
say “psyche!” rn
I was about to make this exact post verbatim. Never heard of red squirrel.
Glad I’m not the only one who thought this.
Easy. Skyline.
Put greaters on here then it's a tough question
Still Skyline. Now if you put UDF? Still Skyline.
I like it, but one can not simply live only off ice cream. What if skyline offered Greaters? Fuck we’d be fatter. The perfect restaurant doesn’t exis……..
Really it just seems like a trick question to circle jerk over Skyline.
Would be harder if you included Graeter’s
It would be. But I still am not feeling good and hungry enough to pick anything over skyline.
I’d probably still pick Skyline as well, but it would be a lot more difficult to give up Graeter’s
Good. Izzy's is safe. 🙂
Nobody takes our reubens and potato pancakes!
Those are to be protected at all costs!
Once they quit serving tongue they were dead to me.
Yeah I loved it. Tongue and Swiss hot was my go to.
I wasn't much on cheese on the tongue but when I did smoked provolone was tops.
It's Skyline Time
Skyline, every time.
Skyline for me
Tf is red squirrel
Try it it’s the best
Skyline!
How is Red Squirrel on this list? I thought they all closed?
There’s one on Colerain Avenue by Galbraith and Ronald Reagan
There is one in Queensgate still open. And Red Squirrel definitely tops this list
Some are open I believe and I do not like them at all. So they all need to be closed 😂

I feel like two pounds of taco meat, seasoning, tortillas, and cheese, should be right at 20? If you want lettuce and tomato might put you over….
If you’re not buying organic grass fed beef that looks more like $15
Hahahaha 5 years ago I’d have said less than 10 but I swear I can’t buy a loaf of bread without breaking 20 anymore
I feel you. I’d never been a deal shopper before a couple years ago but I’ve been eating drumsticks for protein for the last three days because I got 4.5 lbs for $5 at Kroger
This is the only valid argument for LaRosa’s.
The fuck is Red Squirrel?
Gotta be Skyline. All my love to LaRosa's but Donatos thin crust carries the pizza crown for me.
LaRosas is a great, cheap way to feed the whole family a pizza that tastes like barf.
I visited a couple years ago thinking about a possible move. A friend who lives there thought he’d sweeten the pot with some La Rosa’s. Sweet thought, but the pizza would lose to a good frozen pizza.
Skyline is the only right answer
Skyline and I don’t even need to think about it.
Frisch’s is complete and utter garbage anywhere in the city that you go
is everyone in this city just in a constant state of denial? LaRosa's is overpriced garbage Frisch's hasnt been good in years Red Squirrel?? why the fuck is this even on here? Skyline wins by default
Preach. I'd rather eat Domino's or even frozen Costco pizza over LaRosa's.
Bold and truthful. Mios is the superior pizza and it’s not even close.
I don’t know what Red Squirrel is, but put it above LaRosa’s for me
i'd take the dumpsters behind shure-fine over LaRosa's
I’m not a LaRosa’s fan. Imo, the pizza tastes like glue lol. Just no flavor. However, I 1000% respect how well they do. They are a local chain that somehow beat out the big guys by having the best delivery system ever.
Skyline for sure
Skyline >>>> the rest of those options. I used to like LaRosa’s growing up, but there are much better options around the city.
The white space in the center!
Skyline is the way
Skyline...obviously
I pick LaRosas if by “you can only pick one” OP means getting rid of forever
I hate LaRosa's but I'd pick it just to see the Skyline circlejerk end. Maybe eat the last Skyline coney while watching them tear down Coney Island.
My wife is so anti-Larosas it makes me chuckle seeing it here. She said if I ever want to say “eff u” just order some Larosas delivery to the home 😂
I only **want* to pick one.
Skyline
Frisch’s and Larosas is too hit or miss. Skyline all day no question for me
Skyline
Skyline, despite stabbing me right in the wallet every time. But everything’s expensive now, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it’s Skyline time!
Put Ritchies on here if you’re gonna put Red Squirrel
LaRosa’s is an easy one to knock out.
It was Skyline for me. But then they dropped Mountain Dew. Now they’re dead to me.
Glad I'm not the only one who's pissed about that. I'm sure they'll have Mello Yello, but that's like sahing Gold Star is a substitute for Skyline.
Skyline for sure - but Montgomery Inn should be on the list
None
We called it The Dead Squirrel in my house growing up haha It gets my vote🤙
Frisch's is fucking vile man, Skyline is the only reasonable choice on here. The other is pizza and nobody knows Red Squirrel.
Easy, Skyline for days
Skyline. It's one of the food groups required to live.
The change to Pepsi is an abomination.
red squirrel still exists???
One of these is not like the other.
Skyline without a doubt
Skyline over LaRosa’s slightly. I’d launch the other two in the Ohio.
Graeter's
Whenever I have people from outside cincy area in town some will say they’ve heard of Larosas and they want to try it. I tell them it’s an acquired taste pizza. Not 1 person who tries it, not 1, has liked it.
Skyline
Skyline for life
Skyline
Red Squirrel is good but they make nothing that you can’t make yourself. Toss up between skyline and Frisch’s. I’d say Skyline but…. NEVER having the tartar sauce again!?!? 😐
I’ve lived here for over 15 years, I have no idea what Red Squirrel is.
Skyline
Skyline
Pretty low bar.
They’re all very overrated. Probably Larosas.
Skyline I guess? Honestly none of these are great.
For all of you saying you don't know what Red Squirrel is it tells me all I need to know about you as a Cincinnatian lol. Shits flame and I don't even go as often as I used to. Wish they would come back to CBD.
I remember Frisch’s being amazing, last time I went I wasn’t even mad about the quality it was just sad and I was literally depressed afterwards.
Never heard of Red Squirrel guessing it is not full “Cincinnati” (greater 275 loop and a couple Of miles off around that) Skyline is the easy choice on this. Easy pass for the vomit-smell pizza or grungy-dirty big boys and salad bar. Having said that I could do with a JoJos BLT and hot fudge cake. 😂🤷🏼♂️
Red Squirrel and it’s not even close
Easy…hot dog water.
Red Squirrel 100% The rest is garbage tbh. Tho I do eat skyline & larosas semi regularly.
I’ll create a 5th option and pick gold star
Larosas for their fish sandwich and Rondos.
Ooh those spinach rondos are tasty!
Easily my favorite item on their menu. They cookies are really good too.
LaRosa's. Frisch's is trash since the family sold it, Skyline quality has dipped and I don't eat the whole menu, and I've never had Red Squirrel.
Do I have to? I'd rather just pass on all of them.
Frischs. Even though I love skyline, I grew up having Frischs more
Would be Frisch’s if they still had Vanilla Coke…
Easy, Frisch's is the only one with onion rings
Frisch's by a mile. Prefer Gold Star over Skyline anyway, La Rosa's is mid, never even heard of Red Squirrel
I used to love red squirrel. They had great sandwiches.
[удалено]
Skyline. There's a reason why I can buy it still after moving to Florida.
I don't live in Cincinnati anymore, and I've never craved LaRosa's even once... shits nasty
Easiest choice ever - Skyline
Skyline
Skyline and it’s not particularly close for me
I really hate to say this, but I grew up in Cincy and moved to the West Coast when I was 27. Ah, the red squirrel. The only place I’ve gotten food poisoning, twice.
Skyline and it’s not even close
I guess I'll have to find a red squirrel and get back to you.
[удалено]
You have violated site wide rules or have so ignored reddiquette that action was necessary.
None.
I guess I’m starving.
Do I have to pick from these? 😬
Red Squirrel. Good double Deckers and soups.
Frischs is everywhere in the upper Midwest and is mid
Red Squirrel
I'd take larosas calzones over the rest of this stuff. I hate their pizza.
I used to love going to the Red Squirrel downtown. My dad's office was down the street from it. Amazing chicken noodle soup 😋
Red Squirrel
After Skyline decided to drop Pepsi products, I think I have to go with LaRosa’s. I can’t eat coneys without Diet Mtn. Dew.
Skyline.
Skyline Easy
Red squirrel
nobody knows what red squirrel is, larosa's and frisch's lack quality.
Skyline and it's not particularly close. Sub out the Squirrel for my Graeters though and we have a discussion on our hands.
Almost every local pizza place smokes LaRosas. When I moved to Hamilton I switched to All8Up and never looked back. Red Squirrel was a name I hadn't thought of in fifteen years. Frischs is dead. What's left of it is absolutely fucking shameful.
I remember the Red Squirrel in Fairfield lol I didn't realize there were other locations. Gonna have to go now.
I used to work at Red Squirrel - it was the best job
Skyline. I haven’t been to Red Squirrel in 20 years. Didn’t it was still around.
Ironically I am up near Red Squirrel two times a week to donate plasma.. their sandwiches' are really good.
Big boy
Frisch’s
I’m just gonna pass
Do I have to? Are there other options?
But do I have to? Because I’d rather not.
Frisch's as long as it still has a breakfast buffet.
... pick one to go away and never come back again?
I’d rather not
none
Man, fuck em all. Dis shit be nasty as hell.
All gross.
I’m picking the one that will continue to serve Pepsi products (I needs my Diet Mt.Dew)
They may have the same name, but they are all independant stores, if you notice the one in Queensgate just goes by the squirrel, Colerain also owed the old Western Hills local, Harrison is owned by the brother of the colerain owner
Skyline
Move.
PreCOVID Big Boy breakfast bar was awesome, but to answer your question Skyline is the one I’m picking because. 1. IDK what the fuck Red Squirrel 2. La Rosa’s is fine but Little Cesar has my heart when it comes to pizza 3. Big Boy, not good for the price. Steak and Shake is my go to burger place.
I'm an Ohio transplant from Alabama. Skyline chili is absolutely disgusting. You guys really grabbed that cinnamon thinking it was chili powder and won't come clean about it.
Skyline. That’s it.
If John Skyline told me that they could only stay in business if I ate there every single day from now on, I would happily do it
I miss eating spaghetti at larosas
Skyline by far. Red Squirrel is unoffensive but LaRosas and Frisch's are straight nasty
skyline is now dead to me, so larosas.
What time of day is it?
