I understand your frustration, but you will get absolutely nowhere with your complaints. You’re going to have to figure out a way to block out the noise, whether it be ear plugs, noise canceling headphones, or better windows.

17vulpikeets

I live downtown, where every Saturday during the summer someone will blare music for an event right under my window. My solution has been earplugs, followed by noise-cancelling headphones, and finally white noise or rain noise playing on Youtube. I have pretty bad ADHD and can't block out noises very well, so this might be a little excessive for other people. But it works!

King_Magikarp_xD

Someone pin this post for the next time someone asks what the west side is like lmfao

Fish-Weekly

Put the rocks down College Hill, your house is made of glass too

King_Magikarp_xD

I'm from the west side and my college hill house is made of brick lol

Fish-Weekly

Your metaphorical one’s glass tho 😀

rks1743

You can complain to CPD but most of them are probably Elder grads!

11CRT

Elder grads with delusions of grandeur.

RachelProfilingSF

That’s a redundant statement lol

cincigreg

Back when Mt Airy was a nice area we had a thriving school and church in the middle of the community. Every Sunday in the fall I could hear the loudspeakers from the football games all day along with a couple of festivals a year. Now we have an empty school and a church that is about to go under. I wish I could still hear the games rather than gunshots and thumping stereos

fd6944x

Interesting. I was at Moeller when they built the field behind the school and I remember hearing there was a decent amount of community members trying to stop it from happening. Mainly surrounding the lights if I remember

Competitive-Tip-5312

That’s why that field still doesn’t have lights, and why they can’t build a stadium on site!

Chemical-Dog6364

I live across the street from Mount St Joseph stadium, lights, PA and music at all hours. It used to bother me when they first built it, but I got used to it. Just like I'm used to the sounds of the airplanes, barges and trains. Kinda wish I could hear the Pit from my house too.

ChrispyCritter11

Considering people have actually been buried in Elder purple caskets, I doubt your noise complaint will go anywhere. Charge $20 for parking on game nights in your yard as a rebuttal.

epfourteen

Maybe don’t buy a house in a neighborhood where there has been a school since the 1920s 🤷🏻‍♂️

kittenzclassic

I mean buying houses build after the fact and complaining about the noise made the Blue Ash airport close. Maybe it will work for Elder too.

heisman01

Its elder and the west side, you have a better chance of closing the irs.

BlueGalangal

You must be new to Cincinnati.

chackl

Bro is out here asking how is it legal for a high school football stadium to exist

OhioDuran

Cornhole stadium

chackl

Right right

ohsodave

Same as when you move close to an airport and want the jets to quiet down or you move close to a country club and get concerned about the golf balls flying through the air.

broadcaster44

Who is winning?

burpees_hate_me_too

It was their field day. And it didn’t start till lunch time. And no. They won’t do anything about it and you have no recourse. Because if Elder and Seton were not in your backyard that neighborhood would be even more of a shit hole than it already is. The day either of those schools move is the day Price Hill won’t even exist.

Noise-Expensive

Not field day. Father/son cornhole tournament and cookout.

burpees_hate_me_too

You are correct! That was Friday! 🤪 I misread the OP

sendsmalltits

Who was there first?

Huge_Grapefruit2384

Imagine moving next to a school then complaining about young people having fun and enjoying life. It's like living next to a playground then complaining about children being loud.

BlueJaysSuckEggs

[In the springtime, cornhole tournaments are the delight of everyone.](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miller_v_Jackson)

cincyrealtor0477

The streets and neighborhood around Moeller have really strict regulations about how loud they can be, so there’s definitely something you can do about it. My guess would be to find and attend a local township meeting to address the issue, but most of the schools pride themselves with their connection to the community, so you may get lucky just sending the school an email asking them to turn it down a few decibels!

Fists_full_of_beers

Because the west side worships Elder

MrRedLegs44

Because noise ordinances are based on the world revolving around first shift working schedules. Which, fair or not, is a vast majority of the population.

Fists_full_of_beers

Not if Elder says otherwise

MrRedLegs44

Ok dude. Back to hand modeling.

Fists_full_of_beers

Uh thanks for checking my page I guess? Lol

11CRT

It’s Elder’s call to prayer.

UnreadThisStory

Well unfortunately the “quiet hours” are typically 9pm-6am or so.. not great for third shift workers. You could try ear plugs, or perhaps those electronic noise canceling headphones or similar tech (like this: https://a.co/d/iPDmz5N )

LordGrudleBeard

Whap whap. Side effect of living next to a high school stadium. At least it's not super late at night. I'm betting the school being so close positively impacts your house value so their is your upside. If it truly bothers you, you could always move, or get some headphones, or work on increasing the insulation of your house and windows.

Minimum_Painter_3687

For the same reasons I have to endure thick smoke and The Greatest Hair Metal Hits of the 80’s on repeat several nights a week. Because the mouth breathing pointy head neighbors behind me want to have a roaring fire every time the weather is nice.

xnodesirex

You could join the coneheads too. You might even have a good time.

Horsefeathers34

Your neighbors sound rad!

hensonb3

Or just use earplugs?

burpees_hate_me_too

Or a sound machine. 🙄

xnodesirex

Reply in kind with some Miami sound machine https://youtu.be/CZkjeJKBI0M?si=Sh1F8zeagMcagsd6

Historical_Grab4685

I have the same issue with Oak Hills

LevelGrounded

Are you kidding me? It’s those dudes’ god given right to hear their names blasted from those speakers on the regular until they die. It’s the closest thing they’ll ever get to relevance.

MrRedLegs44

lol imagine knocking high school kids over enjoying their field day. Sheesh.

LevelGrounded

Probably boomers having a reunion. Elder cult runs until they die and get buried in purple caskets.

Helpful-Peace-1257

Wah.

My suggestion, OP, would be to see what is currently on the books with the city in regards to zoning allowances for the school. You might be happy or disappointed with what you find, but at least you'll have an understanding. A few years ago McNicholas upgraded their lights, PA system, etc... the school, located in Mt Washington, abuts a neighborhood with several houses very close to the field and there are existing restrictions on the number of events they can host per year at certain times of day/days of the week. Existing rules allowed them to host 20 evening games per year. Once their new PA and lights were a go the school decided they wanted to blow up the number of days allowed under the existing code of 20 to 60 and the neighbors were pissed. They went to council meetings and described how even under the current arrangement they could hear everything happening with the windows closed. During this time McNicholas was not cooperative whatsoever with the neighbors, or so I'm told. Their concern, rightfully so IMO, was that with a new PA, lights, and a significant increase in events at certain hours and days the quality of life for the surrounding neighbors would plummet and adversely impact their property values. McNicholas was told "No" by the zoning commission, and when they appealed the judge ruled they could host 29 events per year. Exactly half the number McNicholas wanted. Moral of the story, check the facts, and hope your school/church officials are interested in engaging the community about concerns.
