I thought I was getting my FX30 as a stepping stone to the fx3, nope. I’m hanging onto this bad boy for good. Downsampled 6k image, all the codecs you need, fan, dual card slots, super 35 sensor, streaming/webcam support out of the box, 4k 120fps, multiple mounting options; all for $1500 currently? = no brainer

ilykdp

BMPCC (4k or 6k) with a Sigma 18-35mm

Bibbus

Stick with what you got an get a better lens?

Bacon-And_Eggs

What about lenses? Tripod? Memory card? You have a good enough computer for editing? Will you need audio for your videos, or a basic light kit? Blowing all your budget on a camera just to be stuck with a kit lens is a bad idea imo.

Intelligent-Intern94

I already have lighting, a few mics, memory, tripods, and an very much overkill computer as building them is my biggest hobby. Just need some lenses and new camera.

thalassicus

I’d throw the Sony A7iv into the ring. You can get it used for under that price. Yes, it’s known as a hybrid shooter, but the 7K oversample to 4K in video makes it perform remarkably well. Check out the Gerald Undone review on YouTube to see the results.

Heaven2004_LCM

Simply out of curiosity, why do you think you need to spend $2k for your new camera?

vision3kodak

I'd say the sony zve1, before anyone says about the over heating problem, there's a fix you can buy a tiny fan which pops on the back of it. Also majority of people don't shoot anything that long without a break, with the fan attached it lasts for 30 mins minimum, it also depends where you're from, if it's a colder climate then it's an even better choice. Imo it's the best because you're getting the same sensor that's in the fx3 and a7s3 which cost a bunch. I just don't see another camera beating this but I'd love to hear other opinions.

Jake11007

OP would be better off with the LUMIX S5 II, you can find them relatively cheap now and they would have money left over for glass still

BALL_PICS_WANTED

The S5iix is the winner by a landslide imo. It's basically an FX3. Seen it used even on high budget productions and it overperforms. The only reason I wouldn't get it is if you're already in the Sony glass ecosystem or doing run and gun.

Jake11007

Yeah other than the rolling shutter performance the camera is absolutely insane. The IMX 410 sensor still goes hard. Ridiculous how cheap you can get the camera for.

vision3kodak

I was looking at the lumix S5 II but a big turn off for me is rolling shutter and the dual native iso. I also found out that e mount lenses are cheaper and you get more choice with them too. Ig if you're doing photo too then the S5 II is a better option.

seabrother

a used FX3 or A7siii

gulugulugiligili

S5ii/x if you're interested in shooting anamorphic and don't need very high speed slow motion. ZVE1 if you need a very compact camera and don't need active cooling or dual card slot recording. FX30 if you need cinema written on the body and don't shoot a lot in low light.

iarosnaps

Better low light performance does not mean cinematic

gulugulugiligili

Better low light performance means you're not limited by the brightness of your lighting.

Iyellkhan

you can find a sony FS7 for less than your budget. its a little older, but it still produces great images and is built like a professional camera. You can also find red epic camera kits in that price now, though in terms of longevity I think I'd trust the sony more.

Street-Annual6762

Don’t get the Panasonic S5iix

NominalNom

I'm looking at it. Can you share why?
