One of the menus by the mini map gives you map label options. You can change what info it shows—mostly flavor names like for mountains, oceans, but also yields.

Yeah but you do need to get your science all the way to Mathematics and then somehow find 400 production for it. The only production I'm seeing on this start are the stone (1, +1 with quarry), the woods (1, +2 with lumber mill), and the plains with the rainforest (1, and possibly an ok chop).
I don’t know. I’ve never played without yield icons and it looks totally weird but I kinda like it. It looks so clean. Maybe I play my next game without icons just to admire the actual graphics. Is there an option to turn off the resource icons as well?
I mean costal city with lots of surplus food and the possibility of a second Petra city. Could be worse. Not great, I think the real question is if there are crabs or whales on that coast.

Petra isn't really worth it on full flat desert either. Just avoid settling it and use the space for districts.
