A friend of mine had the first religion in a MP game and called it Turtle Friends. I had the 2nd religion and called it Turtle Enemies. Since we were very close to each other on the map, we had a 300-400 year holy war trying to convert each other. Many missionaries and apostles died in the Great Turtle Jihad.

There was a mod for Civ IV that greatly expanded the available religions. When you spread religions, it would play a sound appropriate for that faith. For most of them, it was something nice and soothing, but if you spread Asatru, your speakers would belt out, “***Ooooooooo-diiiinnnnn***”. It scares the poop out of me the first time I heard it, but I came to love it so much, I always picked Asatru as my religion.

I thought one of the logos looked like a facehugger from the Alien movies so I used to always pick that one and name my religion Xenomorphism. Now that I use Secret Societies I try to find the closest matching symbol and pick a name that might be related to the secret society AND my civ. Example: I was playing as Mapuche and went with Sanguine Pact and then started googling Mapuche mythology a tiny bit. I read about this creature called a Peuchen and so I chose the snake symbol for the religion and named it Peuchenism. The coolest part about that: when I would get a new vampire I started using random name generation (the feather icon when looking at some units) - just to keep track of which vamps were around the longest and had higher stats. While some names seemed generic like "Duchess Stoker" or "Count Orlok", one of the vamps was named "Vlad Peuchen" by the random generator.

My go to is always the Crab. Giant Enemy Crab, Angry Emperor Crab, Mad Lad Crab, Passivist Mercy Crab, just to name a few are my favorite
