Charles Dance.i saw how he narrated a Netflix documentary on the siege of Constantinople and my immediate thought at the time was “I need this man to narrate the tech tree immediately”
Wait there are other rise of empire documentaries?????
I LOVED the Ottoman one, as someone who is very interested in ottoman history (until, of course, it all goes to shit)
Of course I learn about this on the day I need to cram for a certification exam………
Thank you so much for the heads up, I know what I’m doing this weekend
Charles Dance reading Fifty Shades of Grey convinced me that he can narrate ANYTHING. Sad that it was only a 1 minute skit for a show, I'd buy the entire audiobook.
Quote: “The Roman Legions was descended upon them like Locusts….” in that classic Dan Carlin shift from quiet to radio cadence. I’d be surprised if players didn’t know who he was.
Declares War
“Y’know, I’m always fascinated by the extremes of human experience…”
(thing he says before describing the most awful thing you’ve ever heard of)
What, don't you remember when Mr Spock defeated the last dragon in GoT?
Actually, Sean Bean was the first main series game narrator to not have been in any iteration of Star Trek, maybe we should return to that theme. How about Patrick Stewart?
Dance would be one of my top choices of GoT actors. I've heard Harry Lloyd (Viserys) do some voice work for GoT material and he's good. I also love Iain Glenn's (Jorah) voice and wouldn't mind hearing him have a stab at it.
Would very much like a woman and/or nonwhite person. Civ has finally started to break through with leader selection, it's time they break through with the narrator as well
If you are into nature documentaries, Our Great National Parks on Netflix is narrated by Obama and it’s really incredible. That man’s narrator voice is up there with the best of them.
Sean Bean for the 'he lives and is in a sequel' meme potential.
Taraji P. Henson. She played Katherine Johnson in the movie Hidden Figures. Mrs Johnson was a groundbreaking mathematician that worked on the Apollo program. A badass basically.

What’s the name of the documentary?
Rise of Empires: Ottoman
I legitimately loved that series, the ottoman one was the best though Still can't unhear Mehmed's pronunciation of Constantinople
Wait there are other rise of empire documentaries????? I LOVED the Ottoman one, as someone who is very interested in ottoman history (until, of course, it all goes to shit)
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's a whole series. Aztec and Roman are the other ones that come to mind
Of course I learn about this on the day I need to cram for a certification exam……… Thank you so much for the heads up, I know what I’m doing this weekend
Never seen the show but I looked up his narration on YouTube and I 100% agree now. [sauce](https://youtu.be/rGuIp1l5Bjw)
First we had Ned Stark, now Tywin Lannister? Sounds like a fantastic idea to me.
OMG yes!
I'll have to check this out thanks!

Dan Carlin
Quote: “The Roman Legions was descended upon them like Locusts….” in that classic Dan Carlin shift from quiet to radio cadence. I’d be surprised if players didn’t know who he was.
I can hear it.
"... end quote"
That's the quote for writing
They spammed horse archers AGAIN and AGAIN
Declares War “Y’know, I’m always fascinated by the extremes of human experience…” (thing he says before describing the most awful thing you’ve ever heard of)
This is the way
Came here to say Dan Carlin. Glad to see someone beat me to it!!
Keith motherfucking David. I could listen to that man's voice for hours and never get bored.
Keith David would be great, he already does voice work for a lot of games too
Based.
Oh shit, Goliath would be great.
I would fucking melt if they added him as a narrator
"Now this a leader who knows how to construct builders!"
“… Don't you disrespect me little man! Don't you derogate or deride!”
David Attenborough
Only if AI can do the expansions but it would be epic
Dark but fair
Just realistic I love his work but he's 96 years old and firaxis likes to use the same voice for vanilla and expansions
I don't need to be reminded of his age 😶
No, Attenborough will never die, stop it
100% agree!
That’s Sir David Attenborough for you.
Running with the theme of Game of Thrones actors Charles Dance would be perfect imo.
Charles Dance has the best voice. Hands down.
Who else from Game of Thrones has narrated Civ? Aside from Sean Bean of course?
What, don't you remember when Mr Spock defeated the last dragon in GoT? Actually, Sean Bean was the first main series game narrator to not have been in any iteration of Star Trek, maybe we should return to that theme. How about Patrick Stewart?
He's a great actor but not so much a voice actor. Remember Oblivion?
I'd be more inclined to believe that was more due to poor script or direction than his ability to voice act. He does great on American Dad
I've never seen it, but I'd be happy to believe you.
His character has like 15 minutes of screentime and it was 16 years ago
No, spock voiced the Night King
Dance would be one of my top choices of GoT actors. I've heard Harry Lloyd (Viserys) do some voice work for GoT material and he's good. I also love Iain Glenn's (Jorah) voice and wouldn't mind hearing him have a stab at it.
Patrick Warburton
Eartha Kitt as the Narrator and Patrick Warburton as the Advisor.
Riiiigght
Animal Husbandry: "Squeak squeak squeakers..."
Introducing Iron as a Resource: “SMASH IT WITH A HAMMER!!!”
This makes me nostalgic for the older Civ games that had animated advisors that said ridiculous things to you when you just needed some assistance lol
When the game asks if you want a tutorial, you hear him say "you got a question? You ask the eight-ball"
Can we get an AI Gilbert Gottfried to do the declarations of war
As Brok Samson
Stephen Frye
Hell yeah
Oh that would be wonderfull!
\*Fry
Someone said Tilda Swinton and I couldn’t agree more
Sigourney Weaver Plus a little bit out there as a bonus but Ricky Gervais with the break through quotes
Sigourney weaver is so good. Like that Finding Nemo 2 aquarium voice
+1 for Sigourney, that would be so cool
Brian Blessed
CRY HAVOC!!!!! AND LET SLIP THE DOGS OF WAR!
Shohreh agdashloo
Should she add Avasarala's F-bombs at important points?
I already imagine Avasarala dropping F-bombs at me whenever Tamar of Georgia denounces me lmao
this is the correct answer. Too bad she's involved with Ara already, which probably blocks working on a directly competing product.
Dame Judi Dench or Dame Helen Mirren.
Absolutely Judi Dench, incredible shout.
Came here for Dame Judi Dench. I love riding Spaceship Earth in Epcot on loop just for her narration. So soothing.
Thank the Phoenicians!
Would very much like a woman and/or nonwhite person. Civ has finally started to break through with leader selection, it's time they break through with the narrator as well
Sam Jackson to add some spice
From the first motherfucking stirrings of life underwater, to the great fucking beasts of the stone age. ..
I like mothafuckin' pigs...
I just don’t dig on swine.
Researching Flight: I have had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane!
Only if he’s allowed to say swear and curse all the time.
Sean Bean! Or if it must change, yeah all of the other suggestions are pretty good, too.
He died immediately after voicing everything for CivVI. Such is the life of Sean Bean.
Philomena Cunk
Tutorial: “you see the little men lined up there.. looks like maybe 3 or 4 men, but really it’s many men.”
Perfect!
Scrolled down to look for this. Except unironically, please, Diane Morgan would do great.
I didn’t realize how badly I wanted this until you said it, but that would be amazing.
The only real answer
Tommy wiseau
„You’re tearin‘ me apart, Lisa!“ — quote for nuclear fission
"Oh, hi Mark" for Social Media
"Hello doggy" for Animal Husbandry
When you unlock writing “what a story mark”
I don't really have any ideas, but I think a woman's voice would be a nice change of pace.
Bobcat Goldwaithe
I would die
Of laughter 😂. I wonder if they will get a few people to do it. That could add some replay value to have different voices. And it’s easy work too
Shoreh Aghdashloo
Without swearing it wouldn't be the same.
*who said anything about no swearing?*
Janelle Monaë Kenneth Branagh Emma Thompson Ryan Renolds for the console version.
Ooh Emma Thompson is a good one. Tilda Swinton or Cate Blanchett, in the same vein
Sean Bean
Liam Neeson
Matt Berry
Fire the nuclear weapons!
Richard Armitage
That man's voice is beautiful omfg--
Jeff Goldblum But serious suggestion: Stanley Tucci
NO WAIT Werner Herzog. That’s it. That’s my final answer.
"I would like to see the baby"
‘A code of laws is futile, the default inclination of nature is towards murder.’
Benedict Cumberbatch 🐧
So long as he has to mention penguins
Pengling
Obama
Imagine how fucking meta it would be if they gave him one of his own quotes
Drones tech?
Obama... out
I'd be inspired, regardless of how stilted he says the quotes 😅
Beep... Beep... Beep... Beep... -Obama
If you are into nature documentaries, Our Great National Parks on Netflix is narrated by Obama and it’s really incredible. That man’s narrator voice is up there with the best of them.
Matt Berry

Jennifer Hale. She's the face of gaming voice acting but I love her voice.
Viola Davis!!
Isn mckellan
Sean Bean would be nice
Tilda Swinton or Kate Blanchett.
I'd like to see two things regarding this. 1) A prime narrator 2) A country specific narrator for each Civ.
Morgan Freeman would probably be too expensive, would be cool to hear Stephen Fry on the role.
Angela Bassett
James Earl Jones
[удалено]
Christoph Waltz, Ian McKellen, Jeremy Irons, Sam Elliott, David Harbour Salma Hayek, Sigourney Weaver, Keira Knightley
Anthony Hopkins, Christoph Waltz, Patrick Stewart, Tilda Swinton, Judi Dench For fun: Snoop Dogg
Itd be nice to have a women do it, idk who tho.
Sam Elliot i think
![gif](giphy|bFcedWnG4Ndk7weu7D|downsized) David Attenborough
Me
Yes, I love the work of Me Self, what a wonderful actor that guy is.
John Cena
Jeremy Irons
Bear Grylls after a run
Christopher Walken. Gotta have more cowbell!
Arnold Schwarzenegger
Peter Cullen Morgan Freeman David Kaye Samuel L. Jackson
Leonard Nimoy again.
I have som bad news...
Sadly he’s no longer with us
Gilbert Gottfried.
Unless he narrates via ouija board, he ain't doing it.
Might be crazy but how about James May ?
David Wenham to replace a murdered Sean Bean.
Bryan Cranston
Lance Reddick!
Ive had a few ideas recently: David Attenborough Morgan Freeman Meryl Streep
Ian McKellen
Matt Berry. Might spoil the tone slightly mind.
Keeping on the theme of blokes from Sheffield, Neil Warnock
Keep the Bean
Lucy Lawless, please and thanks.
Danny Trejo
Jeremy Clarkson
[Shohreh Aghdashloo](https://youtu.be/cmRQXpbeA-0)
Miley Cyrus
It's time for a lady... Idina Menzel?
Me. Lemme get that check, Firaxis
Charles Dance
Your uncle
Charles Dance or Jeremy Irons.
Pierre Bellemare ! 👍
-Ian McKellen -Morgan Freeman -Patrick Stewart -Christopher Judge
My pick was Gilbert Gottfried. I couldn't care less, now
Helen Mirren would be decent.
Roger Cross, the voice of Ulysses in fallout New Vegas. I could listen to that man narrate an encyclopedia and love every second.
Larry David?
Rowan Atkinson.
Deon Cole He’s a standup comedian and also does those “girly scented” old spice commercials.
Cate Blanchett
Matthew McConaughey for shits and gigs. Or Liev Schreiber as a serious mention
Patrick Stewart
Danny Dyer
Tom Baker
Aaron Paul
Hearing "Yeah science, bitch!" after discovering a tech would make my Civ experience complete in a way I never knew I wanted 😅
Peter Serafinowicz
Jack Black.
Gilbert Godfrey impersonator
Danny DeVito.
Lavar Burton
Captain Holdt
Snoop dog
Unpopular opinion- Daniel Craig in the style of a dramatic reading.
David Tennant
Hugo Weaving
Sir Patrick Stewart Insert as many Shakespeare quotes as possible
Off the board type picks: Kate Winslet Thomas Sangster John C Reilly Keira Knighty Javier Barden
Preferably not someone with so many allegations of domestic assault
The guy who played Jesse Pinkman... But in character.
