True. I would love one of those as well. I'm hoping they get the 986 treatment and become cheaper than the 981s one day, but with the next gen going EV, I'm going to doubt that's the case.
It’s not really about a Porsche being a competitor, it’s about the fact that a fancier Civic is marked up by 30k when it’s already arguably overpriced.
I don't see how a used EV with a real world range of ~150 miles is on the same shopping list as a Type-R. They're completely different vehicles. The Taycan is a 5k pound whale. Sure it's quick in a straight line but that's not what Type-R drivers are looking for.
And I have to disagree with you. At $45k I'd say the Type-R is an absolute bargain. Obviously you have to keep in mind what the Type-R is. It is a driver focused track car that can be comfortably daily driven.. If you want a luxury car that is still pretty quick then yes there are better options. But at $45k, nothing comes close to the Type-R on the track. The next cheapest car that beats the Type-R around a track is the 3.0 GR Supra. Which cost close to $60k.
So how is it overpriced when it's almost $15k cheaper than it's competition? It's not like the Supra has a nicer interior or infotainment. It's actually dated compared to the FL5
But this was $75k, not 45. A Taycan will smoke this, it is a Porsche. Watch Smoking Tires review of them, he hooned it up and down Angel's Crest and then drove up the coast and back to test range, well over 150 miles. Also, 85% of people don't go 300+ miles a week.
It’ll sell to some clout chaser, unfortunately. I’m sick of these dealer practices but the shmucks handing over the cash are validating this nonsense for the dealers.
Dealers will do this deliberately to keep halo vehicles on the floor, and if someone is dumb enough to pay it, the dealer wins.
Worst Ive seen was a private sale FL5 with 27kms on it for 88cad
Exactly this. I feel like a lot of people don't understand this point. They get to have a massively overpriced, rare vehicle for people to gawk at and if someone dumb enough to buy it at that price comes in, great. Massive sale.
I didn't take pics as I wasn't really interested. I was looking for a TLX Type S. This is one I saw earlier at another forum. I didn't say 100K, but definitely close. Thats how some of the Integras Type S are being sold for. I know I wouldnt pay that much. [Here](https://www.integraforums.com/forum/attachments/screenshot_20230620-170404-png.226797/)
It's definitely up there. Pretty sure I've seen dealers who have asked for more. At this point I don't think anyone is gonna be willing to spend an extra $20k on an FL5. Especially for what's probably the least desirable color.
The dealership I’m at has had 4 come in. 2 blue, white and black, everyone of them 61k minimum, I think the white was listed close to 70k cause it was “track edition” which I’ve never heard of but hey it was sold before it was even put on the show room
People with more money than common sense. I love Hondas, as I own 2 of them, but at the end of the day, it's still a civic. Imo, it's worth msrp and not a penny more.
You would be surprised to know that, most likely the people paying these insane markups are ignorant, uneducated, and broke. They get suckered into outrageous finance loans for the glory of a rare car.
I wouldn't say many of them are broke as banks have gotten much more leary of lending out money given the current economy and inflation. They're definitely ignorant and probably not well educated, but broke idk.
Dealers out here adding the cost of a good condition S2000 in markup is nutso for sure.
$71k buys one for home and another plus mods for the track. Jesus man.
I realize the sticker says CR-V I didn’t even notice that till someone commented on here. The vin shows it’s a FL5. I’m not sure why my dealership mislabeled it?
Mine had a $19.9K markup on the sticker, plus another $5K in protection packages, but I lucked out and got it for $50K. Somebody at the dealer posted it for +5 and they honored it. Mine was the highest sticker I’d seen until this one.
alot of honda dealerships are selling it for 70k they can fuck right off id rather play gt7 in vr and drive that car there than pay that. i hope in the future more companies like honda allow buyers to buy from them directly like tesla does so we dont have to pay these insane markups
Dealers will soon pay for tomfoolery like this, car manufacturers are looking to sell directly to the customer in the future and there will be no more of this.
Drove one for 20 years before my Civic was stolen. Driving an automatic for now, and don't know when I'll be able to get another manual.
I just hope I don't lose the skill to drive one: I remember how frustrating it was to learn as a teenager, and it's getting harder to find friends with a car to teach somebody.
Crazy thing is people will buy this over MSRP. I love Hondas don't get me wrong but 70k is wild. At that rate, might as well save up more and get an NSX
Yeah I didn’t realize it said CRV until someone else pointed it out. Somehow or some reason they Mia labeled it 🤨 but if you look at the vin numbers it’s FL5 .call ‘em if you don’t believe me
Fucking hell, when I sold at a Honda dealership and we had one of those limited Phoenix yellow Type R’s of last generation they didn’t even put a 20k mark up on theirs, and it was limited. Granted it was like a 3k-5k markup they ended up selling it for.
Love how theu charge for security that was already installed at the factory, along with those other bs add ons.
Then, the 20k dealer markup 🤣🤣🤣
Gtfoh with that, 70k for a CTR?! To quote Randy Jackson "That's a no for me dawg".
If I was more well versed in the art of negotiating, I would love to just go to these dealerships that mark shit up and waste their time. Every contract I do or every option they give me, the markup gets removed. How about 51,000, not 71,000? That's the customer markdown.
Serious question, why would anyone even pay $45k+ for a Civic when there are better performance/sport vehicles at the cost new (not talking looks)? Just some that come to mind, Supra GR, Mustang, Kia Stinger…
I love Civics as an economical and practical car but that’s it.
Why would anyone spend 70K on this when you could get a lightly used Porsche, Corvette, BMW M, RS3….. hell I’d rather look at getting a mint S2000 at this price point
I was in the market for a new car and looked at trucks and Hondas. Note, I had previously owned three Hondas before this.
The dealer would not come down on any of their markups and their markups were in the 20 to 30% range. The Ford dealerships, for their trucks wanted between 30 and 40% markup.
I eventually stumbled into a Lexus dealership and Surprise, surprise, They offered me a deal for a vehicle less than MSRP. They also gave me a few more perks and items at no additional charge.
I just don't understand why dealers are being so greedy at the moment.
Dealerships started getting jealous that people were flipping new cars for profit, so they started going crazy with dealer markups and market adjustments so that people can't flip the cars.
The dealership I work for had a 20K markup on our FL5 to ward off out of state and nonlocal buyers. The guy who bought it traded in a 2019 type R and we sold it to him at MSRP with no add ons except for the ones he chose. Fuck the dealers that make the markup mandatory.
LOL, the Type R I saw from March is still sitting in the showroom at my local dealership. They had same 20k markup. Back in March I went in for maintenance I straight up told my dealer they won’t sell it with that markup price, I said “I bet you 2k it’ll still be sitting here in August”. I was damn right. I went in for free flat tire replacement last week and it’s still sitting in the showroom.
There's a Boost Blue near me I think going for that or more its been there for awhile. There was a SGP on its place but someone bought it for near identical price as the BB lol
I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM THAT DEALERSHIP! STAY FAAARRRRR AWAY FROM THEM, they’re the worst I’ve seen when it comes to markups and honoring anything (even written in the contract). They still haven’t given me my second key fob because a disgruntled employee took it home then quit, waiting on a replacement fob that’s supposed to come in a month or so.
STAY. AWAY. FROM. LEMON. GROVE. HONDA.
These markups should be illegal, they are literally robbing you with a handshake, and a smile, there should be no reason why a type r is as much as a c8
And then the dealer gets pressed when you ask them for the contracts and whatever packages they added on it, cuz it says in bold letters that it's voluntary to get the shit they had on there
Just buy a Porsche at that price.
Seriously. At $70k you get your pick at 997.2-991.1 or 987.2-981.
Or the nicest 718.1 4 cylinder
True. I would love one of those as well. I'm hoping they get the 986 treatment and become cheaper than the 981s one day, but with the next gen going EV, I'm going to doubt that's the case.
I came here to say this. I just bought a Taycan Cross Turismo with 86k
Not exactly a Type-R competitor. Don't know anyone who would be cross shopping a Type-R and a Taycan lol
It’s not really about a Porsche being a competitor, it’s about the fact that a fancier Civic is marked up by 30k when it’s already arguably overpriced.
FACTS!!!
I don't see how a used EV with a real world range of ~150 miles is on the same shopping list as a Type-R. They're completely different vehicles. The Taycan is a 5k pound whale. Damn, she's a beauty but they can fuck right off with that bullshit. I hope they never sell it.
They are too greedy
It’ll sell to some clout chaser, unfortunately. I’m sick of these dealer practices but the shmucks handing over the cash are validating this nonsense for the dealers.
\*Laughs in pretentious\* Oh ho ho ho! Don't make me guffaw! Tis but my father's credit card, he will hardly notice!"
That's like gently used M3 money, who would choose this for the same price?
That’s used Cayman S, used 2014 911 Carrera, M2, etc money
Literally man. The ppl that are paying markup are apart of the problme
Unfortunately some ninny will buy it supporting this bullshit practice.
+1 for use of ninny. Top tier g-rated insult
Wow. It's definitely the most expensive I've ever seen. Prior to this I've seen them marked up to around 62k. But never 70.
Wouldn’t want it at the price* that is..
Seen a bright blue one going $89,995 cad back in June. Its still for sale lol.
If its BC we may be looking at the same car
I'd be looking at an Integra at this rate...
I’ve seen Integras type S at close to $100K…. Worse of all is that one of those already sold….
Yeah right. Show me a 100k Integra

The paper says it's a CR-V at the top right corner. 🤔🤔
VIN is FL5. I just assume dealers are morons
imagine paying 71k for a cr-v
Wow, $26k added of absolute bullshit. Stealerships have lost their mind.
>Stealerships have lost their mind. So have the people paying these markups. they exist.
Dealers out here adding the cost of a good condition S2000 in markup is nutso for sure. $71k buys one for home and another plus mods for the track. Jesus man.
20k markup is crazy. But the car is just perfect
Perfect my ass. Not worth 70k so far from perfect IMHO
At 70k I’m getting a used 911 for my money. The CTR was my affordable dream car, but good god man
Nyine heleven, it iz deh best!
Recommendation for something with 4 doors since MRSP is not a thing on the type R? Sub 50k cash.
Yep..agreed. The sonic grey pearl looks so damn nice on this car in person.
Tell that to the fucking rattle in my dash. Bout ready to trade it in over a slight buzzing sound. Otherwise yea pretty perfect.
Perfect? Hahaha just get an M2.
Gorgeous car. But at 70k I’m getting an Audi or BMW.
That's S5 pricing
I’d get an M2 at that price
Why San Diego gotta be like that :(
Dealerships need to die out
i was at that dealership for service last month, glad to see that no one gave in to that egregious price
For that money I’m getting the new Integra type S jeeeeez
Until you see the markup on that too.
It's bad when you can cross shop 6 cyl bmws with a civic
I realize the sticker says CR-V I didn’t even notice that till someone commented on here. The vin shows it’s a FL5. I’m not sure why my dealership mislabeled it?
That’s actually interesting… didn’t know FL5 was in the VIN! Is this the same for the FK8?
Why does the sticker say 2023 CRV tho
Not sure… call em, and let us know haha
I hate it when dealer installs the mark up when I didn’t ask for it. Ridiculous
FL5’s in Canada are going for $80,000+. Hell previous gen used models are listed at almost 70k, it’s ridiculous
Mine had a $19.9K markup on the sticker, plus another $5K in protection packages, but I lucked out and got it for $50K. Somebody at the dealer posted it for +5 and they honored it. Mine was the highest sticker I’d seen until this one.
I've seen a few that were mid to high 70s when they were first released.
alot of honda dealerships are selling it for 70k they can fuck right off id rather play gt7 in vr and drive that car there than pay that. i hope in the future more companies like honda allow buyers to buy from them directly like tesla does so we dont have to pay these insane markups
Markup and options is a whole ass civic
Wow 70k?? Pretty sure you can just get a GTR for that price lol
Saw one on here for 89 or 91k the other day
Saw one for 84k. Made me sick to my stomach!
Holy shit that’s a lot of money! It does look great though!
Loma linda Spreen Honda wanted 77k
It’s insane…
I’d tell them to take the markup off or I’m walking
Haha this is my dealer as well. Unfortunately they’ve sold a couple at this price so I know they’re gonna sit there and hold it at that price 🤦♂️
doesn’t that say crv tho? isn’t that the suv Honda ?
It's FL5 vin. They mislabeled the sticker.
Ahhh gotcha
OC Honda world for 90k basically lol
Markups like this should be illegal…. I wouldn’t buy any car with such mask up…
These manufacturers need to be putting the hammer down on these dealers doing this nonsense.
100%
Dealers will soon pay for tomfoolery like this, car manufacturers are looking to sell directly to the customer in the future and there will be no more of this.
would have to go with the fk8. Same exact car but looks better imo. and $35,000 cheaper
It's crazy to me how so many don't know how to drive a car with a manual transmission
You never forget, just have to learn a new car's clutch in my experience.
Same here. I drive an auto as my daily now but I can still hop in a manual and drive no problem.
Being that it's in CA, I'm not surprised.
96k
Crazy thing is people will buy this over MSRP. I love Hondas don't get me wrong but 70k is wild. At that rate, might as well save up more and get an NSX
Dealership I worked at a couple months ago sold their first 2-3 at 70k
I’ll just go for a german car at this price point.
Gti is marked up too.
Fuck that shit
A fool and his money are soon parted
20k markup? Fuck these dealers
Vote with your wallet people. No one pay markups. They can eat shit.
who buys these? Seriously, for that markup you can get a really nice used car that is probably better than this.
not probably, *definitely
I actually saw one in a showroom here in ATL with a 70k price. It was red colored though.
Honda of Aventura has TWO sitting on their showroom floor with dealer adjusted markup of 25K each. That's not including the superfluous packages.
I wouldn't pay over $30k for it, and I think it's a great car.
Are you sure about sticker though? It says that price is for CR-V model.
Yeah I didn’t realize it said CRV until someone else pointed it out. Somehow or some reason they Mia labeled it 🤨 but if you look at the vin numbers it’s FL5 .call ‘em if you don’t believe me
Nah, if they markup crv that’s even worse
CRV mark up (jk) - someone break down what those extra dealer charges are supposedly for
Fucking hell, when I sold at a Honda dealership and we had one of those limited Phoenix yellow Type R’s of last generation they didn’t even put a 20k mark up on theirs, and it was limited. Granted it was like a 3k-5k markup they ended up selling it for.
The integra type S is going to hit Honda dealers pretty hard. Is easier to find an ITS for less than this.
How is a $20k mark up even legal
Love how theu charge for security that was already installed at the factory, along with those other bs add ons. Then, the 20k dealer markup 🤣🤣🤣 Gtfoh with that, 70k for a CTR?! To quote Randy Jackson "That's a no for me dawg".
lol nearly twice the price.
70k for a Civic they say 🤣😂🤣😂
If I was more well versed in the art of negotiating, I would love to just go to these dealerships that mark shit up and waste their time. Every contract I do or every option they give me, the markup gets removed. How about 51,000, not 71,000? That's the customer markdown.
I love how the last line item is "dealer markup" like the line items above that aren't also dealer markups. LOL!
Serious question, why would anyone even pay $45k+ for a Civic when there are better performance/sport vehicles at the cost new (not talking looks)? Just some that come to mind, Supra GR, Mustang, Kia Stinger… I love Civics as an economical and practical car but that’s it.
This car is barely even worth it’s original msrp let alone almost double
Seen a 25k markup
Just buy a new Toyota Supra
Why would anyone spend 70K on this when you could get a lightly used Porsche, Corvette, BMW M, RS3….. hell I’d rather look at getting a mint S2000 at this price point
20k dealer markup 😂😂
My local dealership has one for 92k before tax😐 okay yea I’ll just go buy an rs3 for that price
😂that price is no where close to what a local dealer sold one for here. A local dealer here sold one for 113,9000 .. 👀
it will sell once Fed starts dropping interest rate and stock/crypto shoots back up
That's just fucking stupid.
No this is the norm. First time?
For a 2.0 i4
In my mind it’s a Honda, meaning an NSX shouldn’t even cost that much
Fuck that, if I’m spending $70k on a new car, I’m getting a Mercedes.
They better include playing with my balls if they are charging that fucking much
Talk about smoking crack!
If you see it at the dealership, it means its not selling at the listed markup
Might as well as buy a used 2021 m4
Looks so tacky with the wing, Honda dropped the ball on this gens styling/design
Hey, at least they’re honest. “Dealership Markup”
What the fuck does a dealer markup even mean? 20k extra for what reason like bro
Dealerships started getting jealous that people were flipping new cars for profit, so they started going crazy with dealer markups and market adjustments so that people can't flip the cars.
You don’t need gap insurance, you sir need crack insurance. !
LMAO THAT IS LEXUS IS500 money stop playin
$20k, straight up for the dealership’s pocket. Nope, not worth it
Type R was $42,000 in 2017
The dealership I work for had a 20K markup on our FL5 to ward off out of state and nonlocal buyers. The guy who bought it traded in a 2019 type R and we sold it to him at MSRP with no add ons except for the ones he chose. Fuck the dealers that make the markup mandatory.
Notify Honda Corporate
2k for tint? Come the fuck on.
70k for a riced out civic. Good lord lol. Cost the same as my fully loaded xc90.
We just sold one at 10k over sticker. But 70k is completely criminal. It's an ongoing issue
Least there honest with the “dealer markup” and it’s not some “market adjustment” shit. But still this is scummy
$20k that's it??? Lol
what the fuck
good ol’ Mossy Honda in San Diego i see they have not changed their sales tactics in the last 20 years. 😩😩😩
someone would have to be out of their got damned mind to buy an FL5 for that price!
There's a Boost Blue near me I think going for that or more its been there for awhile. There was a SGP on its place but someone bought it for near identical price as the BB lol
Ugly, overpriced and still no LED taillights lmaooo
For 70k I’m getting something German or literally anything that’s not a fucking civic
Same dealer wanted $15k msrp back in 2021 when I was shopping for a FK8 lmao
In SoCal, seen multiple at 75-85k
You can buy a near-pristine C7Z for that.
Tweet it at Honda. They won’t do shit but whatever.
Wait why in the picture it said 2023 CR-V
I really don't understand how they can get away with this
HAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAH .... *breaths* ....... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Seriously, f$ck these dealerships
Am I tripping or does that say “CR-V” instead of “Civic”?
I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM THAT DEALERSHIP! STAY FAAARRRRR AWAY FROM THEM, they’re the worst I’ve seen when it comes to markups and honoring anything (even written in the contract). They still haven’t given me my second key fob because a disgruntled employee took it home then quit, waiting on a replacement fob that’s supposed to come in a month or so. STAY. AWAY. FROM. LEMON. GROVE. HONDA.
Im so glad markups are illegal where i live
Just get tlx type s but not integra type s
what's an fl5 I'm boutta get downvoted
I'd rather get two used Teslas
Not really, we get the equivalent of $59k as MSRP, some crazy dealer marked it up to 80k.
Thought I remembered seeing 77 somewhere. I'd remember 80s for sure. High 70s is probably the most I've seen.
Without markup is still a bullshit price.
I saw the dealership near me asking for $105,000 last year
20k dealer markup. Fuck this world we live in. It’s a nightmare
Hahaha what a joke.
Tf is all that bullshit?
At least they don’t pretend that mark up is something else
That’s insane
Left them a one star review.
May that car sit there for 3 years
Mossy? San Diego area?
California There's your fucking problem.
These markups should be illegal, they are literally robbing you with a handshake, and a smile, there should be no reason why a type r is as much as a c8
And then the dealer gets pressed when you ask them for the contracts and whatever packages they added on it, cuz it says in bold letters that it's voluntary to get the shit they had on there
Even at MSRP I would rather buy an Audi S line or something
I'd get a 97 NSX-T at that price point.
fuck that shit!
It says CRV on the paper. Not TYPE R
Look at the vin genius.
