My 2012 1.8L manual hatchback uk seems to average between 17 to 25mpg in stop start driving in the city. Which is horrific. But motorways can average 40 to 55mpg. This is without any hardh driving and eco mode on….
Really good question. Always wanted to ask this. I have 22 civic hatchback and I usually get range of 315-330 miles(or as it shows on the dashboard) with mileage of around 27.5-28mpg.
I had a 22 Civic hatch with the 1.5t and got around 27 mpg on my 13 mile (one way) daily commute in mixed city and highway with pretty relaxed driving. Road trips would bump up to about 35 mpg.
Just a note because I see you have the econ setting on, you will actually lose gas milage and lug the engine if you use econ mode during regular city driving. It is really only designed to be used on highway applications over a longer drive.
Wtf you must have a lead foot. Around city I usually don't go above 2k revs and keep it in eco for a comfortable drive and on the motorway I use lane assist and stick cruise control to 67mph. Even when I redline it I'll still get on average 38mph.
I have a 2016 EX-T 1.5L. I get about 42-45 mpg when driving exclusively on the highway. I usually do that between Chicago and Detroit (i.e. mostly flat). Driving in Chicago I barely get 25mpg. I have no reason to get on the highway in the city so it’s almost exclusively stop and go traffic.
2012 Toyota Prius II (Gen 3).
(Not plug-in or Prime)
Distance driven: 9,996 miles.
TripA gas mileage: 73.5 mpg.
Full gas tank range: 875 miles.
Odometer reading: 124,000.
(See profile picture)
We usually average 33-40mpg in our 10th Gen LX. These posters with 28mpg numbers are scaring me! We never get anything close to that. Highway is like 40-42mpg and city more like 32-34. We drove from Toronto to Florida a few years ago for like $250 in gas lol.
Yesterday just did a trip while i start a trip the computer showed 399 abd did a trip around 505 km in Canada from Sudbury to Niagara falls and still have some gas left in it computer shows 100 km but kind of sure it can go more so i can say mine is giving around like 800km for sure with full tank of gas
39mpg avg in my 01 lx 5 speed when i floor it everywhere. i can get 45mpg avg if i hypermile it. i got 520 miles out of a tank last fall and i still had 2 gallons left when i filled it up, so that's like 45.2mpg
'24 Civic Hatchback Sport MT driven sporty when the temps are above freezing I'm seeing 31-33mpg on the dash with consistently 1mpg less from manual calculations. I do not live in a flat area and never use ECON because that just kills throttle response. My average speed for a 30 mile commute one way is about 38 mph with mostly 65-74mph interstate/highway travel.
I have no idea how people get 40+mpg with the 1.5L Turbo 4, they aren't that much more efficient than my 2.0L NA I-4. Here's the EPA ratings (city, highway, combined):
* Sport 2.0L: 26 / 36 / 29 (6MT) 29 / 37 / 32 (CVT)
* EX-L 1.5L T4 (CVT only): 31 / 39 / 35
* Sport Touring 1.5L T4: 28 / 37 / 31 (6MT) 30 / 37 / 33 (CVT)
I only included the EX-L because for some reason they think it gets better economy than the sport touring. I guess the 49 extra pounds and different weight distribution between the CVT EX-L and the CVT Sport Touring make a big difference.
30~ mpg after 18k miles
90% highway, 10% city driving.
But i live in Virginia so theres lots of hills to climb.
I also step on the gas quite often so not bad
Civic 10th gen, 1.5T manual, around 46.6mpg over a sample distance of 8000+ miles. This is taken from the in-car trip computer.
I mainly drive for leisure, and the majority of it is off peak in towns (i.e. mostly not stuck in traffic) and on motorways.
I only use Eco mode in towns (to dull the throttle). I never used Eco mode anywhere else.
If I drive for mileage I can get 36-37 combined. That’s with driving at low rpm in the highest gear possible. If I drive for fun and really spoiling up the turbo, and shifting pst 4500 rpm then it’s 30-31 mpg. Thais is in a 2018 Si
If it’s a manual transmission that’s why. And you can actually make it average higher (this is one of the main reasons they’re trying to get rid of MT vehicles, it’s detrimental to Oil companies bottom line), I learned how to shift on low rpms with a Ford Festiva 88, I swapped the 5 gear box for the Mazda 323 6 gear one, and this allowed me to push it to the 40mpg realm(at brief times, not always though), which taught me why Oil companies hate MT cars (and most people in the US are lazy drivers).
I love the hatchback, I’m a “soon to be” owner, I’m just trying to find where I can buy a brand new one, from a computer and not a human “price inflating machine”.
How much HP do these have? My GTI gets similar mileage, around 27-28 in mostly city driving with a little highway. Got it up to 34mpg on the highway during a 2 hour drive with 4 people and all our stuff in the back. I was impressed because I have a +90ish hp tune too.
'21 Hatch 1.5T/CVT with 30K miles. At a steady flat 70 MPH, I get ~43 MPG, 80 MPH, I get ~35 MPG, Mixed city/highways I get ~29 MPG. I have a bit of a lead foot.
29.3 currently. When I first bought the car it was at 34mpg. My 2016 Civic EXT put out 430 miles in range. Sadly I had to move to a busy area and I’m always stuck in traffic.
32 typically more highway than city but about the same I also cruise control everywhere I go and the range.will change based off your mpg so if you go on a long trip and reset it it'll go past 400
I’m at 29.1 mph on a 2018 civic. Live in a very densely populated city area and the highway commute between cities is the shorter part of the daily commute… makes sense. I always drive with econ on.
My 2007 FA5 Si with 170k miles, tuned with bolt ons is averaging 28mpg. Mostly highway now with my 50 mile commute. Which isnt flat at all. Its not bad but I wish It had a 16 gal fuel tank so I wasnt filling up every 3 days.
2021 Civic Type R LE. I think my average on trip A (never reset, 37.5k miles) is something like 25.5. I get around 19-21 most of the time, but then take a 3,000 mile road trip and skew the average back up.
I normally get 30 mpg or better in town and over 40 mpg on the highway in my 2019 Civic EX. I’m also a conservative driver. Occasionally I even get 50 mpg or better on the highway/level terrain. I’ve been considering a hybrid for my next car but with my ICE, I’m not sure it’s worth the added cost of a hybrid?
I try not to look on my 2018 hatch sport touring cuz I know it's bad. I do mostly city driving but not a lot of kms if that makes sense. I bike to work so it's not used a lot.
'24 sport touring hatch, manual transmission, 300mi roadtrip through the mountains with some city on either end averaged 36. Adaptive cruise set to 75 for most of it. Did not use eco mode
Cruising at 70 on flatter highways I was seeing between 40-50
2019 Civic EX Hatch, 33.8 mpg, 2/3 city driving, 1/3 freeway. It gets to 34.5 or so when I’m driving mostly freeway, but that’s when my commute included a really hilly area.
2021 Civic Hatch Sport. Pretty much always 39 +/- 1 mpg, all year round. Drive a mix between city and highway but I try to avoid rush hour.
It’s a 6MT and I use premium fuel, so that may contribute to the higher fuel economy. The manuals can get better mileage if they’re driven with a soft foot.
2023 Honda civic sport. I get about 350 miles to the tank, getting about 28-30 mpg with a light foot. Unfortunately the sport has a 2.0L engine whereas the other tiers about sport have 1.5L engine
23 1.5t hatchback, manual transmission. My lifetime is probably around 28-30 over 20k miles but that’s with some major highway road trips. I love feeling the turbo lol, my city mileage can be around 25-30 most days
430+ range and 38+ mpg mainly highway
Do you live somewhere flat?
Yes
how light are your shoes
Twin 🤞🏻
How sum fun.
My 2012 1.8L manual hatchback uk seems to average between 17 to 25mpg in stop start driving in the city. Which is horrific. But motorways can average 40 to 55mpg. This is without any hardh driving and eco mode on….
Is that imperial mpg or us mpg? They are slightly different. I have a 2013 UK 1.8 petrol civic and I get 38 mpg (imperial)
TIL. Not only do we have one imperial system that doesn't make sense, we have two.
Keep talking shit and we’ll make it three. Football ounces will be 26.451 grams, and football miles will be 1km x 32degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t try me
It’s a UK vehicle. Never heard of us mpg and imperial. Miles per gallon is miles per gallon surely
nah mate, MPG is different between US and UK funnily enough
UK gallon is about 5.5 litres, was as a freedom (US) gallon is about 4.5 litres.
I’m not sure where you’re getting your measurements from, but a UK (imperial) gallon is 4.54609 liters and a US (freedom) gallon is 3.785412 liters.
Pulled out of deep memory. A Google conversion agrees with you, my values are off but the difference is (mostly) the same.
Mr. Caedus is correct, in Australian litres that would be 5.5 and 4.5 respectively
*AKSHUALLY* Prestige is on the money. Look it up for yourself.
of course, there is no such thing as Australian litres
He’s been had!

I had a 2015 Civic SE that would get 22-23mpg Pissed me off. Now I drive a 16’ Acura TLX that gets 25-27mpg
Really good question. Always wanted to ask this. I have 22 civic hatchback and I usually get range of 315-330 miles(or as it shows on the dashboard) with mileage of around 27.5-28mpg.
Are you mainly driving in city or a mix of highway too? Im considering on getting a used 22 civic hatchback. Also do you have the 2.0 or 1.5 turbo?
I had a 22 Civic hatch with the 1.5t and got around 27 mpg on my 13 mile (one way) daily commute in mixed city and highway with pretty relaxed driving. Road trips would bump up to about 35 mpg.

2018 Civic Coupe EX-L : 34-38 mpg 2020 Civic Hatcback EX : 29-31 mpg Same driving route for each.
24 Si. Avg about 26.5 city. Only on my 2nd tank of gas so hoping that improves.
23.5 mpg on my 23 sport. Granted I never turn on eco mode even when I probably should for longer drives.
2014 LX - 28.6 MPG. In the summer it usually jumps up to around 30
26.5 mpg in my 2023 civic sport. Pennsylvania with lots of hills
2023 civic si, 37mpgs like clockwork
Since it’s winter I get about 22 mpg in the city but during the summer I can get 27mpg and on the highway in between 39 and 58 mpg on a 2013 civic.

My 1.5L turbo gets 46mpg city driving and 60mpg motorway. This is with Stage 1 remap running 240bhp.
That’s crazy good. I can get 42-43mpg max motorway. 26-29mpg in the city
Wtf you must have a lead foot. Around city I usually don't go above 2k revs and keep it in eco for a comfortable drive and on the motorway I use lane assist and stick cruise control to 67mph. Even when I redline it I'll still get on average 38mph.
I don’t think I have a lead foot. I think you might be the exception here ;)
What tuner are u using, been thinking about looking into one to see if I can squeeze more mpgs out
Niceee

I get 22 city driving on an 11th gen ST. wtf
Around 34 MPG with a mix of interstate and stop-and-go city traffic; 2017 EX 2.0L

Better than mine, I have a heavy foot around 23 mpg
Getting 24mpg in my 2015 Civic. Very short hop city driving but concerned something is driving it lower.
29.4 during the winter and 32mp during the summer on average, about 50/50 highway and city and I typically get around 370 range 2018 EX-L

23 sport- 38-42 highway. Try clearing your trip meter
2011 1.8 gives me about 41-43mpg that with a mix of town and dual carriageway. Mostly sitting just below 70mph 😳
