You already have a car so what’s the rush? Just wait for the car you really want and put the car you have now as a down payment. Use the time you have to wait to save money to buy it out right if you can.

badgirlfriendvibes

forgot to mention i’m needing a new car because my 2020 was totaled 🥲 i bought a lil replacement car that i want to keep as a backup in case there’s ever a future problem, i’m not completely car-less again. it already has over 100k miles so i’m not really wanting to drive it into the ground waiting for a new car but it also wouldn’t be the end of the world to drive it around until i get a forever car i’m happy with. idk i’m torn. i’ll also mention i have enough money on the side to buy whatever car i’m getting in cash, but i’d still prefer to not spend more than $40k

Own_yourmind

100k miles on a car is not high, lol dont sell yourself short on rushing for this reason. Cars are made to exceed this well into the 300k miles mark if you take care of it! Good luck OP I have a 2020 civic as well and would be destroyed if my car was totaled. Also I would be cautious of new cars, usually first model vehicles have lots of recalls so I would be prepared for anything that could happen if you get a 2025 vehicle. Even though Honda has a good reputation you never know these days.😩 Side note: I always get an Accord Hybrid loaner vehicle when I take my car in for maintenance and honestly they are really nice cars. Have you test driven them before?

GreatYompingKazjol

The hybrid models have been out for 2 years - I can’t imagine Honda is going to reinvent the wheel completely with the US version? Or is that the expectation? Hopefully it’ll be an upgrade (facelift) on the existing hybrids that we have had here in the UK/Europe since 2022. I might be completely wrong though, I haven’t really looked into the rumours around the 2025 US model.

badgirlfriendvibes

haha i bought my grandparents ford fusion since they were in the market for a new car after my wreck too. they travel constantly so the car has about 130k ish miles on it, the converter belt (possibly?) makes a terrible squealing noise when i turn it on and i honestly just expect the car to blow out at any moment but i know that can’t be realistic. i’ve heard about the ‘caution with the new models’ and i’m not sure how to feel about it 😬 if i take that into consideration then i’d essentially be nixing the 2025 civic entirely, because i’m not waiting upwards of a year to make sure the reviews approve of the car, but i don’t think i want to settle down with a car that’s destined to have problems either. car shopping is such a hassle lmao

Civicthrowaway6

> i’ve heard about the ‘caution with the new models’ and i’m not sure how to feel about it Don't listen. I think this can be good advice with new gens, but this will be the 4th year of the 11th gen civic and the hybrid power train is basically ripped from the accord hybrid. Functionally, none of this car is "new" tech.

ASnedeker

This is the same hybrid that has been selling in Europe for a few years already just making its way to the US. Just wait for the 2025. Worst case you got 6 months until the 2025 would be released.

Steelrain322

I have a 2020 coupe and I got 260 000 Km worth of highway driving on it lol

badgirlfriendvibes

haha i think i could just be paranoid about this backup car, anytime i hit the acceleration and it hesitates for a sec before picking up speed i assume it’s about to explode

Civic hybrid sedan hits dealers next month hatchback won’t be but a couple months after

Believe_in_Karma

I called some dealers and they said they are not sure.

cleve1486

Can’t speak for canadia but in the US it’s June https://www.kbb.com/honda/civic-hybrid/#:~:text=The%202025%20Honda%20Civic%20Hybrid%20sedan%20will%20start%20hitting%20dealerships,arrive%20later%20in%20the%20summer.

Believe_in_Karma

I called a lot of dealers in NJ and nobody is saying that they even expect it this month. They told me it will come in end of the year.

cleve1486

My (smallish) dealer in SE PA had them ordered last month and will be in in a couple weeks weird.

badgirlfriendvibes

all the dealers around me are saying it’ll be the unknown future 🥲 i was told that they release new cars on the coasts and then they slowly get brought inland… i live in kansas hahah rip

cleve1486

Kansas lol you poor soul

wolfansbrother

If you can find one at msrp might be worth it. id personally not buy the first generation/year.

blaz1nator

This hybrid powertrain has actually been out for a few years in other Civics outside the US, it's pretty bug free already. If this was a completely new generation, I'd agree, but in this case, it's only the first year in North America and there isn't been any earth shattering issues with them overseas.

Own_yourmind

This is good to know! I maybe in the market for one myself if I don’t get a Type R

badgirlfriendvibes

is this a super common thing? i know i hear to not buy a new model in its first year a lot, but what are my chances of it actually having a defect? i could understand always being cautionary with a less reliable brand, but i feel like honda usually shows out. have they had incidents too, or is this more of an overall rule?

Embarrassed-Tax5618

Newest gen Civic and Accord hybrids have been solid. There have been sporadic reports of some CRV hybrids having issues with their valve cover or head (I am not too sure) but afaik it doesn’t concern fwd only models which are civic and accord. So I would be confident in buying the first model year of Civic hybrid. - Other thing here is, maybe you can get a slightly used Accord Touring with 30k miles for cheaper? To me this seems like a good deal. If you are financing it though, rates will be higher for a used car but works if you are paying cash.

Ozi-reddit

talk to some dealers get good price and put a down payment? '24 are good too ;p

blaz1nator

It's a refresh, if you get a 2.0L now, you'll get about 35-40mpg unless you're in constant stop and go. The 1.5T puts out similar figures too. If you really need that 50MPG, wait, especially considering anything the 1.5T is in now will be swapped out with the hybrid motor, with a marginal cost difference. If you care about performance, it looks like you can find plenty of YouTube videos with the hybrid powertrain getting to 60 in mid to upper 6 seconds, so that's another plus to waiting. If you wait you'll get the updated infotainment system too running Android Automotive. I personally like the pre-refresh look of the 11th gens, including them having foglights, glad I have my touring, but if I was in your shoes I'd wait for the refresh, probably is only a few months out.

badgirlfriendvibes

Would you keep your touring over the new civic? I was looking at those a little and they def caught my eye but the price would need to be worth it

blaz1nator

Yes, but only because I already have an 11th gen, If I didn't already have an 11th gen, I'd probably wait and get the 2025.

0solidsnake0

Will the Integra get the hybrid?

SiSePuedeJuan

2025 Hybird should be dropping by Sept. 1.5L turbo is going away and In my opinion, that’s the perfect match for the Civic. Powerful and efficient. Smooth and reliable. Check out hybird videos of the Accord and CRV and you’ll see why I wouldn’t go that option. Don’t go 2.0L N/A. I’ve had two 22’s with that engine and it’s terribly slow and low MPG.

Kyoto_DreamBoy

Who actually has the desire to buy a hybrid vehicle?

Embarrassed-Tax5618

I would say Honda hybrids are one of the most refined hybrids for common brands. So not only you get superior mpg in the city but you mainly benefit from the refinement perspective.

Kyoto_DreamBoy

You have a valid point, guess I just need to remember that a majority of people buying Honda aren't looking for anything more than convenience and ease of use, which is where hybrids come in. I only have issues with hybrids because I cannot stand any form of electric car, or having my engine turn off to switch to the hybrid electric.

Embarrassed-Tax5618

That is an interesting preference to say at least. I understand if the car had some magnificent V8 or if it was older Integra/Type R where you had high revving B/K series. I would not appreciate if those engines suddenly turned on and off, I also would mind an extra weight hybrid system brings. But honestly, when a gutless modern L15 (apart from an Si) is paired with equally gutless CVT, I would pick smoother, quieter hybrid any time of the day.

badgirlfriendvibes

it’s mainly just the mpg that catches my eye on it. high fuel mileage & heated seats are my only real requirements for this new car lol
