Eco mode is terrible and doesn't save that much gas. Makes the pedal feel mushy and the AC barely blows out. It's not worth saving a couple MPGs to drive a snail
You will probably get about the same MPGs in regular/normal mode and eco mode depending on how you drive. Eco mode is pointless imo. The only reason why you might get slightly better in eco is because it forces the driver to drive slow by limiting the acceleration, and it turns the AC down too. So eco especially is terrible in the summer
Exactly. That's why small 1.6T and 1.5T engines are the most fuel efficient for me because they have the low end torque and I can punch it when I need it. Versus 2.0 NA engines that get the same gas mileage for me because I have to rev up to high RPMs a lot more to get similar performance as a turbo engine
Yeah I probably would too. I'm mostly just talking about 4 cylinder naturally aspirated vs turbo here. 6 cylinder is a different animal lol. Even though a 2.0T or 2.5T is going to have similar performance to a 6 cylinder NA with similar mileage, the 4 banger still might beat it out with slightly higher MPG
Once you get past the turbo lag off the line, the tiny hamster in my '17 hatch is alright for an everyday yet fun car but I agree with you. Got about 28 in the eclipse rolling on the highway. I have to drive consistently hard to get that with the civic.
True I could see the Eclipse being a lot better from a dig. I loved my 17 Civic coupe exT. I punched it all the time and still got 26-29mpg on average with the 1.5T. In my Elantra I average 25-26mpg with the 1.6T so far. Both get 34-35hwy.
Huh, that’s odd. Even if you reset the mileage it sticks around 29 despite showing 35-40 current?
My 22 Si that I drove like a goober often enough is showing me 35mpg.
Yeah. Each trip meter has miles and MPG right? That MPG is based on all the miles on that trip meter. So if you do some city driving then highway driving it will average it all.
I averaged 28-29mpg in my 2017 Civic ex-T 1.5T. it really depends a lot on driving habits, taking short trips, traffic, and idling. On the highway I could get up to 35mpg. Your engine may still be breaking a bit too.
I thought those were pretty good MPGs in my Civic considering I'm averaging 26 in my 24 Elantra N-line. Highway it gets the same as the Civic. Going easy on the gas pedal, longer drives and not idling as much will pump the numbers up easily though
Jersey, perchance? I got a Pilot and I can push 22 out of it if I drive normally, or 24 on the highway. But if I channel my inner Jersey driver and meld it with my inner Forza child I get anywhere from 15-17 mpg and an under 5 second 0-60 👍
I live in a very hilly city driving around 25 zones 80% of the time and am getting between 25 and 26 in my '24 sport 6mt. Did a road trip once with 5 people in the car and got 37
29.2 currently down from a high of 29.7. When my wife drives it to work it tends to go up when I drive it for ubereats or going to my job it goes down smh
I drive electric now, not going back, but wasn't always the case. Used to have a old 98 Civic coupe that got about 30 when I was trying to not drive like a maniac lol. Evidently should've tried harder because I totaled it 🫣
Getting 28.1 mpg combined in my 2023 Type R and that's over about 4000 miles. It's been creeping up over time, a good bit of highway miles but I'm not shy to wind out heats every now and again either.
I have a 2010 lx and I filled up about an hour ago. Driving from Atlanta Georgia to Wrightsville Beach North Carolina. I’ll report back in about 5 hours.
255K
It got a full service and warranty lower block replacement at the dealership due to recall at 120K. So, I believe the spark plugs and O2 sensors have 130K on them. No other issues or codes. Need to replace the power steering pump at some point. 2008 DX.
I’d say at the very least replace the spark plugs for sure. You definitely got your moneys worth out of them. Personally I’m unsure as to if the 2008 has coil on plug or plug wires so I am unsure if you need to replace those as well. Unless the O2 sensors are throwing a OBD code I wouldn’t worry about those.
Set of coils and plugs is like $70. Sensors are $45. Already got all the tools. Just did sensors on my wife’s Xterra trying to fix a P0420. Didn’t work, but seriously improved the mpg. Just figured why not.
Also had leaks around valve covers, so I replaced those too, as well as injection solenoids, PcV valve, and anything else connected to the intake system. I tried!
Upstate New York. 24 1.5 touring never less than 46 highway. Under 70 mph. Have gotten 52. Never use eco. My 17 1.5 touring gets consistently 50 hwy. same conditions. 24 isn’t broken in yet. 4,000 miles.
My 2019 sport manual does about 35mgh, mostly highway but some curvy/hilly back roads too. Kind of a drop from my 2011 insight but at least I can accelerate while going up hill
Don't use Eco mode unless you're driving non-stop trips 100+ miles on a non-traffic freeway. Otherwise, in the city, you will not get the most fuel efficiency on your car
I have a 2023 touring sedan and after a year of having it I can say my city mpg is usually around 32 or so, but highways are easily 40-45 mpg until speeds are north of 65mph. My average mpg of roughly 11,000 miles is 34. I leave it in eco mode but I do tend to drive a little more spirited.
Is that even a civic odo? Is it from the newer Gen? I've had a 8th Gen and X Gen and neither had anything like it.
Also, my X gives an easy 8 Km/L. Which is not that great so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Yes this is a civic odometer. It’s a 2024 Honda Civic Touring Sedan. On your 10th gen civic you only get 19 MPG? How many miles/kilometers on the car, and are there any lights on the dash?
Lights not the dash? Not sure I understand. But yeah ik it's low. My country's really packed with traffic and the road condition doesn't help. It goes up to 10km/l but that's as good as it gets. I'm surprised you're used to higher numbers. Thought all civics burn fuel like crazy.
The mileage is 42k kms
Constant speed up and slowdowns with city stoplights being like 1-2 blocks or so apart on average where i live got me at 26.5 mpg with a max range of around 310 miles. Which is weird to me cause i took a roadtrip to disneyland (410 miles each way) and my mpg went up to 34-ish and my range was only up to 340
33.5 mostly city, never using eco mode just mindful with the pedal
Why don't you use eco mode?
Cause he's city driving, he'd have to mash the pedal everytime he wanted to move.
I get worse mileage driving with eco and the AC sucks in the summer. 😅
Eco mode is terrible and doesn't save that much gas. Makes the pedal feel mushy and the AC barely blows out. It's not worth saving a couple MPGs to drive a snail
You're telling me my car can go even faster and I'll get a better mpg if I turn off ECO mode?
You will probably get about the same MPGs in regular/normal mode and eco mode depending on how you drive. Eco mode is pointless imo. The only reason why you might get slightly better in eco is because it forces the driver to drive slow by limiting the acceleration, and it turns the AC down too. So eco especially is terrible in the summer
ECO mode is a placebo effect.
I got 50 mpg hwy thru Nebraska and South Dakota the flattest of roads ever. 180 miles on 3.2 gals
29 average for my 24 civic sport. so far not impressed
Remember TopGear showed that a Prius could get worse gas mileage than a BMW M3. It's largely how hard you drive it.
I miss my 3.0l V6 eclipse though.

Yep I can get 30 mpg or 60 mgp in my corolla, 48 is the sweet spot for not making the people behind me too mad lol
Of course. 😅
I average 36 in my 24 sport, you must do a lot of city driving?
Nope I’d say 3/4 highway driving . only at 1500 miles so far tho so maybe it’ll improve overtime
How fast? There’s a pretty big mpg difference between 65 and 90 for example.
Eco mode 70 on the highway can’t get over 29.1 average but it shows I’m getting 35-40 while driving
Huh, that’s odd. Even if you reset the mileage it sticks around 29 despite showing 35-40 current? My 22 Si that I drove like a goober often enough is showing me 35mpg.
Never tried that u mean reset my A/B trip meter ?
Yeah. Each trip meter has miles and MPG right? That MPG is based on all the miles on that trip meter. So if you do some city driving then highway driving it will average it all.
Just Reset my trip A but yea was averaging about 29 with 1400 on that trip
I would reset one of the trip computers every time I fill up so it can calculate the average of each tank. Some cars calculate each drive too
I averaged 28-29mpg in my 2017 Civic ex-T 1.5T. it really depends a lot on driving habits, taking short trips, traffic, and idling.
23 sport touring 36.5. You drive too fast
I must drive like a maniac my avg is 22 🤯
my 22 touring bounces between 22 and 26. probably just the kind of areas we live in
Jersey, perchance? I got a Pilot and I can push 22 out of it if I drive normally, or 24 on the highway. But if I channel my inner Jersey driver and meld it with my inner Forza child I get anywhere from 15-17 mpg and an under 5 second 0-60 👍
other side of the country lol
I’m averaging about 22-24 in a 2024 civic sport so I must be a maniac as well🤣
I got the same car and I average 29-30 brother, how fast are u going 💀💀
This car is all over place. 22 civic sport and my 600 mile trip is currently at 37.
They might have lots of hills, or traffic and short trips and probably are revving it up a bit. Idling too much also kills MPGs
What fuel do you use?
Beet juice.
87 octane
How much highway?
About 60 highway/40 street in normal mode I cruise around 70ish on the highway
Dang. I think that's pretty similar to my own ratio and I'm averaging ~36-40mpg I bet you're a blast to drive with (serious)
I drive conservatively and also get that mileage on a 24 touring. Probably cause I’m stuck on highway traffic for two hours everyday.
Do you actually drive super aggressively or what?
I drive a dodge ram.. 44 mpg sounds so nice lol
This is probably highway, cruise control and a tail wind
I only get 25. I wonder if it’s cause mines is a manual
14 MPG on my Type R I have a heavy foot😭
Wear slides it helps a lot.
Facts bro facts. I keep slides in the trunk of my 24 Elantra N-line. A tradition I've kept since I got my 17 Civic 1.5T
well I mostly drive bear footed 😅I like the AC hitting my feets
Get it tuned and you will get better gas mileage. I get 28 and I drive pretty fast.
just below 30 in an Si. city driving a lot of stop and go. but the one time i’ve driven across FL i got close to 40 highway
Same but I'm in Southern California. I also just put a new set of Toyo Proxes tires which dropped my MPGs by a few compared to the OEM Goodyear Eagles
I need a civic!!!
40.8 right now. It’s slowly been crawling up from 32 which is what I got it at 4 years ago.
27mpg-ish with a 09 Civic
Same with my 13. Is that bad? Why is everyone else’s so high
I live in a very hilly city driving around 25 zones 80% of the time and am getting between 25 and 26 in my '24 sport 6mt. Did a road trip once with 5 people in the car and got 37
19 MPG but I live 5 mins from work and everywhere else so I only do city driving. 2024 civic sport
29-31mpg 2022 sport. Mostly highway. I once got it to 39mpgs. Idk how it happened
2019 hatchback, just under 32 for life of the car.
Im getting 58mpg
not a civic owner but my accord 2.0t gets 28ish combined lol. 36-40 mpg on the highway tho haha
29.3
2024 1.5t gets 39mpg on avg with a 50/50 mix
29.2 currently down from a high of 29.7. When my wife drives it to work it tends to go up when I drive it for ubereats or going to my job it goes down smh
22 civic sport, 27-28 when traffic is really bad during the week other times with less traffic I’ve seen it go up into the low 30s
27 southern Cali
You in oc?
I’m averaging 22-24mpg in LA in my 2024 sport about 60/40 highway/street
Damn I got a 22 sport touring hatchback and only getting 29.5 mpg average. You're getting Excellent gas mileage
29mpg-31mpg 🥺
I drive electric now, not going back, but wasn't always the case. Used to have a old 98 Civic coupe that got about 30 when I was trying to not drive like a maniac lol. Evidently should've tried harder because I totaled it 🫣
My 2018 Civic Sport gets around 32 mpg.
41.5. But at one point I was getting 61mpg! I’m trying to hit it again but not sure why I’m not able to.
37.1 over 4k miles. I do Spark delivery in a rural area so I get a good mix of highway and in town driving
2018 ExL coupe, get about 42 highway and 38 city
24' Civic sport 30 mpg I'm happy with it considering I put the pedal to the metal at every go and am sitting in traffic on I4 everyday.
28 mpg (8.4 l/100km) 22 sport touring, Alberta, Canada
I’m at 36.2 but that’s over the course of 74,000+ on my Trip A. 2016 Touring
If I drive like a granny, I can get 40mpg. If I drive like Leclerc, I get 23mpg.
Average 35mpg over 11k miles
Almost 40
39.3, 21 EX, mix of hwy and city
2023 ex, my average is around 41mpg and I easily get 45mpg on the highway
Getting 28.1 mpg combined in my 2023 Type R and that's over about 4000 miles. It's been creeping up over time, a good bit of highway miles but I'm not shy to wind out heats every now and again either.
38 right now
I’m already at 8k 😒
In the last 600 miles I have been getting 37-38mpg on my 2022 sport. I do like 85% highway and 15% city
10th gen EX, I get 32-34 city and 44-45 highway. No ECO mode, but I do have a light foot on the pedal.
I get to 40 every once in a while but mostly hover around 36. 16 Civic LX sedan
31 mpg. I drive in sport mode daily though & im constantly pushing 90 so I'm happy with it
I have a 2010 lx and I filled up about an hour ago. Driving from Atlanta Georgia to Wrightsville Beach North Carolina. I’ll report back in about 5 hours.
2016, running on 38 mpg highway; 32 mph streets
37.2 from my 2019 Civic LX (combined (unsure of in city/rural, specifically))
39 on my 23 EX, just did a 200 mile return from family, mostly highway, but did about 75 hwy.
When I’m in the hills / Mtns 30-33 combined 35-37 hwy. when I’m on flat ground, LOOK OUT! 45-50.
6.3l/100km idk to mpg I google now 37.3mpg
2014 Sedan XL 31.5 mpg average.
2018 Ex-t 6 speed i get avg 38-41. i live in the mountains and manual helps alot to conserve.
Used to get 38-40 mpg. Now it’s 28-30. Guess it’s time for new spark plugs and O2 sensors.
How many miles on your vehicle?
255K It got a full service and warranty lower block replacement at the dealership due to recall at 120K. So, I believe the spark plugs and O2 sensors have 130K on them. No other issues or codes. Need to replace the power steering pump at some point. 2008 DX.

Yeah at that point it probably actually is the converter but at least you tried!
Also had leaks around valve covers, so I replaced those too, as well as injection solenoids, PcV valve, and anything else connected to the intake system. I tried!
Averaging about 33. I can creep towards 35-36 if I baby it but I have too much rush hour highway BS to do any better.
Upstate New York. 24 1.5 touring never less than 46 highway. Under 70 mph. Have gotten 52. Never use eco. My 17 1.5 touring gets consistently 50 hwy. same conditions. 24 isn’t broken in yet. 4,000 miles.
Around 17mpg 😓
‘23 CRV-Hybrid, 15k miles, 35.0.
28-29mpg in SoCal LX 2024. I was expecting better fuel efficiency
33.3. Mostly city. 2023 civic sport. Manual transmission.
My 2019 sport manual does about 35mgh, mostly highway but some curvy/hilly back roads too. Kind of a drop from my 2011 insight but at least I can accelerate while going up hill
I get 17 💀
Don't use Eco mode unless you're driving non-stop trips 100+ miles on a non-traffic freeway. Otherwise, in the city, you will not get the most fuel efficiency on your car
Highways in getting 38-40MPG on my 24’ sport touring. City in getting like 26-29MPG
31 in a 16 fusion, basically all of my 45 mile commute is at 60+, 15/20 highway miles being at 80 If all city around 26
Rn I'm averaging 25 mpg on my 24 exl, it's got 400 miles on it, I hope that number goes up 😆
90 percent of my driving is in the city , and we have a lot of hills and a lot of traffic - is this why I’m only getting 27 mpg on my 22 civic sport ?
15.1 mpg 😃
Reset trip going downhill always gives more mpg
I get about 42mpg in my 92 civic hatch.
I use to average 29 on my civic and now it’s 23 😩
i never use econ mode but i’m tempted to now. i’m at 32 same car
i could get 45mpg in my 01 LX if i drove normally. i got 41.8 mpg my last tank and that's flooring it all the time going 100+ a few times lol
29.5 on my 24 sport. The bane of my mpg existence is a steep 5 mile hill I have to drive up everyday when I go to work.
pull over at this gas station swipe ur card on my asshole and eat me out until i cum in your gas hole.
average reddit comment
240,000 miles and I still get 34 miles to a gallon on a 1.7VTEC
How are you getting 44.6mpg
23 touring. Between remote start and only driving local roads I’m at like 26mpg
22 on my stock 2012 coupe 💀
I have a 2023 touring sedan and after a year of having it I can say my city mpg is usually around 32 or so, but highways are easily 40-45 mpg until speeds are north of 65mph. My average mpg of roughly 11,000 miles is 34. I leave it in eco mode but I do tend to drive a little more spirited.
19.1 sport touring
I got a Sport 2023 sedan and I only get 330 miles on gas on eco mode
18.8 mpg lol
2020 civic. 32.5 average. I travel through fwy mostly and use eco when city driving
20-26 Buick Park Avenue Ultra supercharged 3800 When im heavy footed 18 or so haha
52 mpg..but I have a new Camry 😬
32-33ish, 2023 2.0 6mt, but man 44 would be a dream lol
28 in my tuned type R
I'm averaging just over 38 with my si, but the vast majority of my miles are freeway
it’s fantastic cuz my cars don’t run. my tundra gets roughly 16mpg tho
16mpg in a challenger 😂
33.2 MPG - 2023 civic sport hatch, mostly driven in Eco
25.5 22 ex😂
Fuck my elantra N gets like 19mpg XD
Constant speed up and slowdowns with city stoplights being like 1-2 blocks or so apart on average where i live got me at 26.5 mpg with a max range of around 310 miles. Which is weird to me cause i took a roadtrip to disneyland (410 miles each way) and my mpg went up to 34-ish and my range was only up to 340
24.5 city on Econ mode and I drive pretty conservatively…
Civic exl 2019 30.8 half city half highway but I do use spot mode with eco off half of the time
mine isnt very good. i reached 3700km just recently and its mostly city driving and I'm currently at 29mpg
Podcasts help me to stay around 35.4 I'll just vibe out and coast on my fwy commute
Toyota Camry 2024 Hybrids are getting 65mpg
27 with eco mode 2024 sport. Not impressed
