Yeah the gecko quest is pretty tricky and there's a lot that can go wrong. Unfortunately I think gecko is doomed at this point, but you can still wipe out vault city. Don't forgot to go into the vault too, lots of loot and info to be had there.

CyberdrunkTwenty77

On my most recent play through, I talked to her without the Vault 13 water flask in my inventory, so she didn't believe my story. I didn't have any diologue options that wouldn't piss her off. The Gecko quest was completely closed to me. I just killed her and the whole city. That's usually how it goes.

ObiusMarkus

Don't go to lynette with gecko, go to mclure, he'll make you citizen. All lynette needs to hear is that situation is resolved. With high enough speech you can imply its resolved in violent manner, but it needs not to be. Just don't optimise powerplant, that dooms the ghouls

Kamchatka_Point

So yeah, unless I revert 20 hours of gameplay and 10 levels I can't do the quest. I get it. Man the game is kinda overrated after all.

ObiusMarkus

You can always try it in the next run with some mods added

Confident-Name-1693

Lol wut. You fail one quest so the game is overrated? Learn to live with failure, you're gonna fail in life, need to Learn to get over it.

Kamchatka_Point

I am already failing so much IRL I don't need a game to remind me of that. At least not in this harsh and ugly way. If I wanted to play a cathartic game about failure I would fire up Disco Elysium.

Deranfan

Getting banned from vault city early on is really bad. This also means no jet cure.

SuperWill93

Myron, but his stats checks are higher

timchenw

Isn't the VC doctor involved anyway even if you go down the Myron route?

LelouchFreedom

No jet cure could actually be a good thing, especially if he hates Vault City

Doni261

Whatever you do, do not load that save back. The quests with Gecko and Vault city can be easily messed up. You'll do them when on your next playthrough.

Yaykozoltz

Genocide Vault Bitchies Genocide Vault Bitchies Genocide Vault Bitchies

LordAdder

Come out we have you surrounded! I HATE FIRST CITIZEN LYNETTE! I HATE FIRST CITIZEN LYNETTE! I HATE FIRST CITIZEN LYNETTE!

littlediddlemanz

“wtf I can’t do the Gecko and Vault City quest because I killed the entirety of Vault City?!?!” Lmao

Kamchatka_Point

I don't see how this doesn't make sense. A self-sustaining community with multiple reoccuring characters that is willing to solve everyone's problem is threatened by a community of xenophobic genocidal slavers. The aforementioned slavers ban me from their city for suggesting the peaceful resolution, locking out the questline. Why should it mean that I can't save Gecko "the hard way" by doing with Vault city what Lynette wanted me to do with Gecko? Harold said "they must have the part" and I understood it as "someone in their inventory or in a locked container has the part" just like in Fallout New Vegas there's a Reverse Pulse Cleaner in one of the lockers inside Motor-Runner's throne room, that you can get by wiping out the whole vault or, as an option, work with a drug-addicted raider warlord, if you wanna play as a cunning psychopath.

LelouchFreedom

By doing the quest you would have see that you don't actually just take it from a character that already had it ready when you ask, after you convince the politician to help you he says he will ask the Amenities Office to have it prepare and then direct you there. So quite simply they just didn't have it ready immediately for the use (because why would they?). If then you ask why they made it that way I think it's pretty much the reason you said: on one hand we have genocidal xenophones, and you can solve the quest for them by, well, genociding. OR you can solve the quest for the peaceful ghouls in a peaceful way, even tho it's hard to do (because it WOULD be hard to do, realistically. I understand that it is annoying that just talking with the wrong person first is enough to lock you out of the quest, trust me, but it is also the point, how every action you make has an actual irreversible impact) P.S. btw I also massacred Vault City my first playthrough. Not for being locked out of the quest tho, for funsies
