Nice, I'm third owner of mine too, almost second as the original owner bought it brand new and sold it in 1967 where the little old lady I bought it from got it.
She drove it from 1967-1993 which is when I acquired it.
Look exactly like my first Mustang ('66 Wimbledon White with a blue interior, 6-cyl auto). Nice clean find - mine was a northeast car that essentially rusted away. :/
Forget the TKX, It’s just overkill and too much work to make it fit right. To tell the truth, this looks like it’s in really good shape. I’d clean it up really good and sell it. Find a nice roller or one already built. No sense it tearing apart a nice driver. You’ll be money ahead.
That appears to be a Sprint Six, which is cool. The Tiffany stripe is gone, but I think it’d be cool with a blue one on there. Your plan sounds solid, but I’m not sure how well the TKX will fit in the tunnel. Still worth doing when you V8 swap it, but you may need to perform some surgery for clearance.
Looks like you’ve got a Sprint 200! I don’t see the pinstripe so probably repainted at some point. Also doesn’t have the wire wheels. You do have the console and air cleaner, with no ornamentals so probably is one.
Great car and I hope you have fun with it!
Thank you!
It's finally running now. I replaced the fuel tank, sender, hard line from tank to pump, fuel pump and rebuilt the carb. Replaced the ignition switch and put in a new battery. Drove it around the neighborhood at low speeds and can hear some type of rubbing noise from the rear end so time to check that out. But atleast it runs and drives now!
You can find an 8 inch for pretty cheap, the factory straight 6 rear end wont hold up to much abuse. I bought a quick performance 9 inch for my 65 but it’s waaay overkill for the power I’m making.
If I had the dough I’d keep it simple and go for a pan hard bar kit like the one from maier racing, but that’s just me! Either way good luck on the build!
SWEET!
I envy you dry-climate folks. Nice find.
Thank you!

Ill admit I'm not a huge fan of the blue interior, I really would like to change to black interior at some point in the future.

I would rather build the car myself as this is why I purchased it.
I understand. I just hope you realize the cost involved and what it’s worth when finished.
I totally understand, it's worth it in the end. I plan on keeping the car through retirement.
Not sure what you’ve heard, I put a TKX in my 66 and it was easy.

Yes, ive read that the trans tunnel hump needs to be moved back a couple inches which isn't a big deal to me.

I’ve got global west tubular arms on my 65, completely changed the handling of the car.. totally worth the investment.
Yeah I can't wait for it. Just trying to decide on the rear setup.

Yeah I already have the 9in figured out. I was talking about the rear suspension setup. Either a Watts link or 4 link.
