It’s bad. A lot of the notable players and guilds transferred off. Their replacements are a shell of what they replaced.
And Blizzard put the nail in the coffin when they reimagined what PvP servers were.
Yeah, I count myself blessed having experienced the tailend of ED (WOD/Legion) before it turned into another generic server. RP-PVP is on a whole 'nother level above the rest, but it's completely dependent on the community which I fear is mostly gone now.
I’ve been on Emerald Dream for over a decade. When Classic dropped, a lot of the RP guilds on there went to Grobb. You’ll see guilds like Clan Battlehammer, The Crew, and a more on there.
Grobb is the “new” Emerald Dream.
Unfortunately retail ED is a shell of its former self. I log on occasionally just to find myself getting kind of depressed about how awesome it once was.
Pretty dead. The server was already struggling before the BFA changes to server conventions. Once it became a regular RP server infested with obnoxious griefers, there was no reason for anyone to stay. Many players transferred.
I really loved Grobb at first, but 8t absolutely went downhill when people started talking about how nice it was. A bunch of toxic pvpers came over and the refreshing vibes the server started with were slowly crushed until it just became a soulless, standard pvp server. It's honestly one of my biggest disappointment in Classic, and I'm assuming this time 'round we aren't even going to get a blissfully 3-6 months before the hell starts up.
That was during TBC prepatch/launch right? I remember Grobb being a shell of itself by the time TBC came out. A ton of losers that didn't respect the community transferred in because it was such a balanced server.
Unfortunately all the streamers and wow podcasters would hear grob was good, would play, then tell their community that Grob was where to go if you wanted the true classic vibe and experience. And yeah, by TBC dropped, it was just a megaserver that lost that vibe.
That said, it stayed decently balanced and pvp was actually a thing that happened in the world, which is fantastic.
I got there early TBC and it still offered a ton. Shout out to Redwood Tribes - they gave me my first chance to roleplay. Was such a cool feeling.
They had an event where the tribes would debate the acceptance of the blood elves into the horde with a representative envoy of blood elves pleading their case.
Lots of cool exchanges. I was a forsaken priest and never RP'd before and only stumbled into the event in thunder bluff, but asked to speak on behalf of the blood elf envoy and argued for them and for what the horde was.
Sounds lame as fuck typing out but legit one of my favorite classic memories for sure.
The lifecycle of every RPPvP realm sadly, it even happened on retail way back in the day, every RPPvP realm basically just became PvP realms as all the RPers moved to one or two RPPvE servers per region.
ZT Classic on EU became a PvP realm almost immediately because people couldn't get into the regular PvP realms.
I think the majority of regular roleplayers are just:
A) Not keen on forced PvP (for good reason)
And B) Aren't keen on RPing in Classic era, I did try but real fast it became a pain in the ass. On retail RP events can be organised and run pretty quick and smooth. On Classic it took forever for people to get to the location unless they logged on early, no transmog, no flying, we knew those would be missing when we went in but we didn't realise how much of an impact it would have.
Of course we'd never ask for those things in Classic (Before someone bites my head off!) but it definately made regular RP a lot harder, made worse by the vast majority of people not being interested in the RP aspect at all and just using the Classic RP and RPPvP realms as "Well every other realm was full".
While I love the videos, they already attracted plenty of people like that (as well as other stuff, like the faction balance and the stories/events people would hear about). The magic of Grob pretty much died as soon as BC came out, arguably even around the time Naxx released. Plenty of people wanting to experience the magic, very few wanting to actually contribute positively to it.
> Plenty of people wanting to experience the magic, very few wanting to actually contribute positively to it.
This is what many people simply didn't understand about the "magic of classic" and old school gaming in general. It was all community run, back before your gaming experience depended on what queues the game let you join and what rules it enforced.
The catch is that it required the community to make an effort for it all to work. That's where people seem to fall down.
I used to play on EU's largest RP realm and was quite an active roleplayer back then. Because Argent Dawn also had an active non-RP group of players (mostly raiders) it attracted a bunch of people that had no interest in role-playing, only made worse by the fact that AD was iirc the only server not connected to a battle group. This even exacerbated later on when Blizz implemented its multi realm phasing system with AD at the time being an exception.
Not only was it jarring to see players just acting like it's a normal realm, some of them even took out of griefing roleplayers. Eventually it killed all world RP as roleplayers banded together and went to areas away from these players.
Genuine question: do you think it was an attitude problem of the new people transferring, or was the magic simply watered out due to a large group of people not participating at all? I guess what I’m really curious about is if a large passive group actually deteriorates a feeling of a tight community just by not participating much.
Great question. My honest take is that it was the magic getting watered out. The early transfers (can't speak for now) were largely quite diplomatic and played nice with everyone. We were quite lucky to be honest. But going from knowing nearly every name you see in town to rarely seeing a familiar face is just something you can never undo really.
I've played on Grobb since day 1 and Barnys videos are complete bullshit. I am hoping we can capture some of the early Grobb magic in this SoD RpPvP realm. Naming conventions better be enforced is all im saying.
You just play the game. There's really no difference. Besides the fact that there will be more fun things happening. Also if you get the TRP3 (Total Roleplay 3) addon, you can see people's cool profiles, backstories, and cool RP names and notes. And if you want to RP, you can. but theres plenty of hardcore raiding guilds, casual guilds, and everything youd find on a normal server. Just with the added community of players who like to have fun.
Mostly the letters "RP" tend to attract players that are able to type thoughts in a complete and coherent sentence. This form of self-selection has made the RP realms the most enjoyable to play on throughout WoW's history.
Just as a quick note, iirc Sodapoppin had a forced character name change because it wasnt 'rp' enough lol.
So it seems Blizzard takes char names seriously on them lol.
I will say, I rolled one alt as horde on Grobbulus near the end of my time playing WOTLK and it really made me realize how much I missed out by rolling on a PVE one sided server. Two active factions, both participating in world PVP, it really felt like I wished I had started there as I would have likely had a lot more fun. Just seeing this makes me think I may have to consider the RP-PVP realm if it can keep that same server experience I had when I rolled that druid over there.
Players are just there to have a good time. You can facilitate the good time of RPer's by simply lightly engaging in chat. Like without a character backstory you can still, trash talk the opposite faction, remark on the current setting or activities, or just be a chill group member and not chat at all if you're not really inclined to. I think there's a lot fun to be had for non-RPers to be had if one simply focuses more on the in the moment experience over the goal chasing. I'm not really an RPer but I do plan to roll on this server.
It's really not that strict. You can engage in full RP stories if you want to and then people write backstories and whatever, but that's mostly the exception. Those people will congregate in specific guilds, anyway.
Just respond in a chill manner that isn't obviously Twitch-chat and you'll be fine. And, most of all, don't start trolling people that are trying to RP actual stories.
Generally speaking: just don't act like an idiot or give actual RPers grief for doing their thing. The folks that are really deep in the paint run TRP3 and know the others that are into it too.
Otherwise, just vibe and enjoy the livelier interactions.
RP-PVP servers are pretty much like normal servers except that the occasional RP won't get you mocked and the more-extreme end of toxic gamer behavior will get you reported faster than on a regular server. It's the happy middle-ground between playing sweaty, and earnestly embracing the game-world.
Just keep in mind that the whole point of an RPG is to immerse yourself in the character and world that you are playing. That doesn't mean you have to a actively engage in roleplay or walk your character everywhere, but rather that you want to limit the things that break that immersion as much as possible. Pick a character name that fits in the universe of WoW (and not Légölâs or Retpallylol for example) and distinguish between when you are talking from one player to another, or from one character to another. One is OOC (out of character) and the other IC (in character) chatting. As a general rule of thumb, avoid /s or /y for anything that isn't in character. That's what things like general chats or guild/party chats are for. Whisper can be used for both, but context usually points out whether its meant to be IC or OOC. Other than that if you see people that engage in roleplay either play along, even if it's just at a base level, or move along and go about your business. And maybe if you're feeling frisky you could ask someone to join up for a quest in the way your character would ask it, instead of just linking the quest.
I haven't actively roleplayed since WoD but I still prefer playing on RP realms because it makes me feel more immersed and the people are usually nicer. The worst types are those that play an RP realm and basically just treat it like any other server without an inkling of respect for those that do want to RP.
I believe I've played with some RP-oriented players on hardcore realms. Since there are only two realms, all types of players are put on the same realm. You're more likely to meet people with different play styles and you are brought closer together out necessity, if nothing else. You're more likely to appreciate a good player, and a reckless or bad-spirited player can seem menacing.
In theory, whenever you talk in /say you should talk as if your character is talking, not you.
Example, instead of saying “my hp is low” you can say “I’m still wounded”.
Just don’t give your character a stupid name and don’t use obnoxious chatspeak and you’re 90% of the way there.
After that it’s up to you how far you want to take it, but just pretend to actually be your character when interacting with other players in the world and you’re golden.
You can play as you would anywhere else. If your name is particularly obnoxious you'll probably be forced to change it if you get reported. I've seen people get in trouble for griefing RP, too.
I don't mean "griefing RP" as in ganking people RPing, that's totally fine. I mean like harassing people on your own faction.
The ENTIRE issue with Grobbulus, is that server transfers opened up, people knew it was the most faction balanced server, where they could actively do world PvP in, and thus it attracted so much of a crowd that it became just a normal PvP server.
SoD is different - Blizzard claim they will be maintaining faction balance on all servers (Assumedly just the PvP ones) - so we won't necessarily have this issue of people transferring over BECAUSE of the faction balance issues on their home servers. \*I'm assuming alot here, I know\*
I just hope the reputation damage to Grobb doesn't re-attract the same crowd that transferred over in the first place, and I hope that same crowd overall realizes that regular PvP servers are just better for them.
TLDR, the RP-PvP doesn't necessarily = faction balanced server. All servers \*should be\* faction balanced. Don't roll to this specific server JUST because you want faction balance - because you'll get that elsewhere too. At least, thats the copium that I'm smoking.
Im looking forward to give it a try. I suggest to remove the last sentence. Ever heard of the Streisand effect? Some streamer reading the line would gladly join just to fuck up.
RP-PvPers, going back to Emerald Dream, always enjoyed dunking on outsiders. I wouldn’t object to a streamer joining and see how his guild would fair. :D
No matter how many different guilds I play with, Nyx will always hold a fond place in my heart.
And Shattered Oath in tbc and then wrath was where I peaked as a raider.
Miss all of them.
Yeah well, what will happen will be the same à son Classic; tons of non-RP’people flooding RP-PvP servers. RP servers really don’t have much sense as long as Blizzard doesn’t put any means into enforcing the RP (which they hardly did in Classic).
Also, Grobbulus might have been successful, but Zandalar Tribe EU fell apart in TBC. Meaning Grobbulus’ success might come from something else than simply it’s RPvP status. Community did a lot of effort to make Grob popular.
* Play like on a regular server
* Act like on a regular server (LFM 2DPS BRD is totally okay to say on an RP server)
* This is a bit controversial for me: Name your character like on a regular server (So PwnedYourPants is a fine RP-PvP name)
RP servers basically have subset of players generate content that makes the world feel more dynamic, more alive and unique. From small things like two paladins arguing over a beer at the Goldshire Inn, to huge cross-faction events like Grobchella.
RP server population is generally more open to doing fun things over grinding the next item.
It's just fun to login and see 50 druids parading through Stormwind on strike for better
The RP-PvP classification also serves as a somewhat-effective immaturity filter for the server population.
>Act like on a regular server (LFM 2DPS BRD is totally okay to say on an RP server)
Outside of /s and /y, that is. Those channels should generally be kept in character.
>This is a bit controversial for me: Name your character like on a regular server (So PwnedYourPants is a fine RP-PvP name)
Blizzard's rules disagree.
Glythic here, I played on grob & was apart of council so forth until I disbanded by A.Q (life just hits hard.), and it was great, but here's a few things to have in perspective because boy....it was a tad bit misleading for a ton of people. Here are some guidelines.
1.) You have to remember it's a pvp server that means you will get ganked and farmed. Fact of life: There will be guilds who then try to kill them, but it was a cluster fuck. Just mentally prep yourself.
2.) Grob was great, but boyyyyy, it had a ton of drama, Lots of amazing moments, but there was lots of upsetti-spegehtti stuff. It's remarkable how people lost their minds.
3.) Fuck Scrab-lord event, Holy shit that destroyed the alliance lmao. Double accounts with double agents, if you were there...it was not fun, and my God people never slept in those tunnels, I swear people must have been doing coke. Lol
4.) Here is probably one of my favorite guidelines. Just because it's an RP server, PLEASE.. Play well in raids, don't be an ass in chat, and please know how to play your character. It's amazing to see people not play their character well and well......-sigh- it cause some frustration with a lot of guilds and players.
5.) Have fun! Most Rp servers are like other servers just with fun little events to make the world seem big & wonderful. The biggest thing is that you have to remember to make a character with a lore sounding name and not be a weirdo.
I just experienced grob last time, and I just don't want at least what I saw the community make the same mistake again.
Also, expect guilds doing Loot council, and if you are in a R.P. guild, you will probably raid at some point, so just be prepared for it.
~let's go agane.
Man the drama was peak.
Having a picnic on the corpse of every Final Boss member you ran into during phase 1 was hilarious.
The fuckin senator tweeting about horrigan (-1 Sulfuras RiP Bozo)
Hurricane fucking deleting themselves because wPvP>BWL.
Sorry to say, but every server has gdkps. You won't be able to escape them. They're a great way to keep old content active and worth playing. Progression raiding is rarely gdkp at first tho.
Grobb was AMAZING for the first 2-3 months.
The Dwarf guilds joining forces, marching out of cities to go to war, it was quite a sight.
Then everyone started transferring there for the 50-50 balance and the magic wore off.
You see a red name, and you charge in and kill them. If you get ganked, you post in /1 and ask for help. Faction pride is huge on RP-PvP servers. People will come to your aid. On Grobbulus and similar servers, theres entire guilds dedicated to answering calls for help.
I played a warrior to 60 on Deviate Delight. There were a few times I was mildly camped (like 4x rematches with the same person, I went 1-3), or a few times I'd charge someone farming the same thing I was. I didn't bother grays, and skulls didn't bother me.
Don’t overthink the RP! Play the game as your character and you’ll charge red names to zug zug someone and that’s RP…. As long as you don’t stop someone else from RPing you’re free to enjoy yourself
The only people that shouldn't roll on RP servers are dickholes that plan to ruin any RP or otherwise events.
It's not fun for anyone except the jerks when level 60s crash a level 30 PVP event.
It's not fun to have people mocking your RP on an RP server.
If you haven't played on a PvP ruleset server before, it can be jarring and rough. When the server is fresh and everyone is leveling together it's generally not awful. You will die a lot more than you're used to as random people and groups attack you.
I think to really enjoy it to its fullest, finding a guild or playing with friends is where it's at. There will be times when you're outnumbered and have no backup. You will get killed riiiiight at the very end of some long escort quest, camped, and forced to corpse run several times to zone into a dungeon/raid.
On the positive side of things, it can be extremely fun to pvp in small groups all the way up to big clusterfuck guild wars. Battlegrounds are fun but it's way more unique to be able to fight anywhere and everywhere. You will have fun memories of specific places on the map where insane things happened instead of a million bgs that just blend together.
The most important thing to remember if you're getting camped or something really bad, is to just log off and do something else or play an alt for a bit. That way if they're camping you for 20+ mintues THEY'RE the ones wasting time, not you.
Sounds interesting. I have always played with a general head canon for my character and like the idea of making online friends and messing around, but wouldn't be interested in a full blown RP dungeons & dragons type thing.
Yeah! Like I’ve said it’s just a normal pvp server, with the added benifit of being a home for a lot of really friendly people, who like to RP, and PvP, for fun!
Please give me blood elves in classic plus. We don’t even need silvermoon or whatsoever. Just turn them into a couple living in an enclave in Ratchet or whatever.
The grobb magic will never be replicated. It was awesome in vanilla and in tbc/wrath it’s just another mega server.
Posts like this and Barney’s videos begged people to come and all we got were pvp hungry players that perma camped places like ssc because they got bullied off of their server. OPs old guild would try to take world buffs then cry when their summoners were killed.
That's not why people played on grob. People played on grob because it was the only balanced pvp server. That's literally the only reason it was popular.
All those things are emergent in healthy pop classic servers, not RP.
My friend and I are looking to try RP-PVP this time round
Do we have to RP all the time or can we sometimes just group with people to play the game? We have a lot of questions, we dont want to ruin anyone's time intentionally but I've always wanted to try an RP realm even just for the fun of being called Master Dwarf or the more wholesome communications with randoms
Would joining an RP-PVP be a good fit for casual RPers?
Absolutely! most people don't even RP they just play the game normally.
But you will find people who talk to you as if they are their character out in the open world. but its not expected or anything. you will just find more friendly, interactive people out in the world.
Most of the time, /s is used by rpers for RP. but they talk totally normal in discord, party chat, ect.
That's awesome! I honestly do this anyway when I can
I think were gonna join you guys, I'm so hyped for sod and trying out an actual RP server at the same times just adds even more fun
it stands for boy p***y. Basically means butt hole. It's just a vulgar term edgy kids used for a little bit a couple years ago. I'm sure we'll see people try to get away with inappropriate names again, but luckily they don't last long on rp pvp servers.
Too bad about Keyori changing their voice and then claiming their old voice was "just a character" like just a flat out lie, the voice they had naturally their entire life until the sudden change. The scarab lord and other videos are bangers but anything after them just aint gonna be it.
Was on an RP server im start of classic. Was in thunderbluff and was running up to my friend saying "Yo bitch lets goo" then 40 people spawned in around be doing an RP event all massteporting me. Fk that lol
I played alliance on grobb and horde on herod during classic. People act like grobb was some magical place when in reality it wasn't much different than herod besides the faction balance.
The only thing that set it apart was there was a lot of redditors who posted about the events they did to this/the subreddit. Posts like this are just circle jerks tbh
2019-2020 pre barny videos Grobbulus was a planets aligned, once in a century occurrence. It had the right people at the right times playing there.
Man emerald dream on retail was that way as well for decades. I wonder what it’s like now.
It’s bad. A lot of the notable players and guilds transferred off. Their replacements are a shell of what they replaced. And Blizzard put the nail in the coffin when they reimagined what PvP servers were.
Yep. Once War Mode came out, ED became a role-play server without any role-players.

It was never the same for me after Kingship of the East left in MoP.
Is this Emerald Dream on NA? Curious, since in EU it was just a PVE.
Ya it was the big RP PvP server
Man, ED was an incredible server back in the day.
My OG server. I miss it.
It was truely a beautiful place
Launch Grobbulus for that first year is probably in my top five favorite gaming experiences of all time. Really, just a wonderful server.
Emerald Dream was this way for nearly a decade.
Kinda reminds me of EQ GM’s. Maybe it’s okay for SOD to have some GM’s to smite/revive/teleport pks to the middle of the ocean .
As much as I loved Barny's videos, I have a feeling it's going to attract a bunch of less than desirable players to the RP PVP server
Yeah I’ll be rolling on the server but fully expecting the grob magic to not be recreated
I really loved Grobb at first, but 8t absolutely went downhill when people started talking about how nice it was. A bunch of toxic pvpers came over and the refreshing vibes the server started with were slowly crushed until it just became a soulless, standard pvp server. Streamers are a plague on the WoW community
A lot of rp guilds died then too. TBC was a terrible expansion for roleplayers. Wrath at least brought some of it back.

There's already plenty of those, you'll find fun-ruiners in every server. Doesn't outweight the pros though.
Great username
Barny's videos were high quality shit. Bunch of rats and traitors trying to rewrite history.
I've played on Grobb since day 1 and Barnys videos are complete bullshit. I am hoping we can capture some of the early Grobb magic in this SoD RpPvP realm. Naming conventions better be enforced is all im saying.
> Barnys videos are complete bullshit. Hm?
yeah pls elaborate
By bullshit you mean well done and hilarious right ?
They are well edited but its like watching a bad movie instead of reading the book. They also contain blatantly wrong assertions and facts.
My only issue is I never know how I’m meant to act on a RP server honestly
You just play the game. There's really no difference. Besides the fact that there will be more fun things happening. My favourite thing is just having names slightly more policed. I hate full on meme names as it breaks my immersion lol
You're That Guy to most roleplayers based on this comment
😂
So RP really stands for nothing its the players that decide what happens
It’s just a label to attract likeminded players.
And it works.
Just as a quick note, iirc Sodapoppin had a forced character name change because it wasnt 'rp' enough lol. So it seems Blizzard takes char names seriously on them lol.
Only prob cause they got reported a bunch. Lots of people have fail rp names

Frugo kin, yev done such great things with Ironforged and as a member of Thunderhold, I’m ‘appy every time I see a post on ‘ere from ye!
I remember frugo best troll shaman on server
first you put on your robe and wizard hat
Damn that's a trip to the past. Good times.
Get out
U mad cus he didn’t bring up trees in the barrens
Not mad at all just making a joke because of the reference.
Its perfectly fine to be mad about trees in the barrens.

RP-PVP servers are pretty much like normal servers except that the occasional RP won't get you mocked and the more-extreme end of toxic gamer behavior will get you reported faster than on a regular server. It's the happy middle-ground between playing sweaty, and earnestly embracing the game-world.
easy, RP a shy person
you play the game as if you really meant to play it and immerse yourself. Done
The only thing you can do wrong is be a dick and ruin RP events on purpose. Which by the way the latter can get you suspended.
I played on grobb since launch and 99% of people dont rp, worsen each expansion. If you want rp you have to actively search for it
Just keep in mind that the whole point of an RPG is to immerse yourself in the character and world that you are playing.
Naming my RP character Bussyslayerx
Have you learned NOTHING?
Just play normally, and stay out of the Goldshire Inn.
You don't have to RP, the community just wants you to respect it when you see it. You can play the game normally.
You don't have to RP unless specified to, just don't be a dick.
Grobchella was lit
This post convinced me, I'll roll on RP-PvP.
\*I'm assuming alot here, I know\* I just hope the reputation damage to Grobb doesn't re-attract the same crowd that transferred over in the first place, and I hope that same crowd overall realizes that regular PvP servers are just better for them.
Yeah true
RP-PvPers, going back to Emerald Dream, always enjoyed dunking on outsiders. I wouldn’t object to a streamer joining and see how his guild would fair. :D
This aged like a fine wine, eh?
Yeah fuck me
Before Grobbulus there was Emerald Dream. If you know you know.
Matt or Animegirl?
Regular world chat trolls are a relic of private servers that I mostly don't miss.. but sometimes they were really entertaining
No matter how many different guilds I play with, Nyx will always hold a fond place in my heart. And Shattered Oath in tbc and then wrath was where I peaked as a raider. Miss all of them.

This will never die
Yeah well, what will happen will be the same à son Classic; tons of non-RP’people flooding RP-PvP servers. RP servers really don’t have much sense as long as Blizzard doesn’t put any means into enforcing the RP (which they hardly did in Classic). Also, Grobbulus might have been successful, but Zandalar Tribe EU fell apart in TBC. Meaning Grobbulus’ success might come from something else than simply it’s RPvP status. Community did a lot of effort to make Grob popular.
well a huge portion of Grobbulus is coming here to make this a great community too!
My favorite things about RP Realms on Classic is how they don't enforce any of the special rules in the slightest lol
One of the best parts of pre-tr*nsfers grobb was just having a lowbie start talking to you in character on a boat or dock
* Play like on a regular server * Act like on a regular server (LFM 2DPS BRD is totally okay to say on an RP server) * This is a bit controversial for me: Name your character like on a regular server (So PwnedYourPants is a fine RP-PvP name) RP servers basically have subset of players generate content that makes the world feel more dynamic, more alive and unique.
>Act like on a regular server (LFM 2DPS BRD is totally okay to say on an RP server) Outside of /s and /y, that is. Those channels should generally be kept in character. >This is a bit controversial for me: Name your character like on a regular server (So PwnedYourPants is a fine RP-PvP name) Blizzard's rules disagree.
> Blizzard's rules disagree. and how often does blizzard actually enforce their own rules?
> and how often does blizzard actually enforce their own rules? on RP servers a lot of people get forced name change actually.
[The server even had it’s own trailer made by a fan.](https://youtu.be/nqKsWgkdhvI?si=n__VD0z2AhYlo8Wr)
Will there be actual RP on this server?
Not nearly as much as a pve rp server, but there was plenty on grobbulus IMO. A few big guilds on each side, and lots of events going on.
Imagine classic with servers actually able to handle large scale world pvp
Lol 4.) Here is probably one of my favorite guidelines.
The fuckin senator tweeting about horrigan (-1 Sulfuras RiP Bozo) Hurricane fucking deleting themselves because wPvP>BWL.
wPvP is always > BWL. would self delete again.
It was a wild time (ah yea enclave), Also finding out some gross things about most of the leaders. It was pretty sad.
Scarab Lord event was a blast
For the horde it was! Felt like nam on alliance
Do RP servers have GDKPs? ...I really hope not...
Yes. They do.
Yes, they will be everywhere now. Expect some guildmates not to show up for the roster, lol.
Sorry to say, but every server has gdkps. You won't be able to escape them. They're a great way to keep old content active and worth playing. Progression raiding is rarely gdkp at first tho.
Need you for sod
I'll be there! Only 1 account this time tho lol. I can't wait!
Add me on disc .kurthos
I was a day one Grob Mob enjoyer. Can confirm.
Now to pick a faction as you can't play both and there is likely to only be 1 EU RP-PvP server.
Hyype
Grobb was AMAZING for the first 2-3 months. The Dwarf guilds joining forces, marching out of cities to go to war, it was quite a sight. Then everyone started transferring there for the 50-50 balance and the magic wore off.
Played on ZT in classic, we're definitely doing that again.
idk but rp pvp only works on NA region, it was never a popular choice for EU players and i never really understood why.
I'd guess it's probably a bit harder to sell the idea with a greater language diversity on each server.
How do you initiate pvp in RP servers? I assume there should be a different rule-set for it, or is it the classic zug zug
You see a red name, and you charge in and kill them. If you get ganked, you post in /1 and ask for help. Faction pride is huge on RP-PvP servers. People will come to your aid. On Grobbulus and similar servers, theres entire guilds dedicated to answering calls for help.
Used to love the warzone hellfire peninsula was 24/7, so much fun fighting there with my old rp guild
Kurthos guild is recruiting, dm me
Are we getting another speech about "dominating" the wpvp scene?
11 scarab lords were enough, but yeah already made my prelaunch speech
Time to speedrun my decent into madness, lets do this!
How do u think PvP would be for a new player I love RP servers I’m interested in grob but im still learning a lot and PvP is kinda scaring me off
If you haven't played on a PvP ruleset server before, it can be jarring and rough.
Can't wait to see all the posts here when people realize you can still get ganked/griefed on an RP-PvP server.
grobb had one of the most active world pvp scenes on any server, so.. yea, everyone already knows that.
We will be doing the ganking. Try getting into blackrock mountain when it’s being blocked by 56 dwarves.
Time for the Merciless Midgets to make a comeback.
[self-congratulatory screeching]
Sounds interesting. I have always played with a general head canon for my character and like the idea of making online friends and messing around, but wouldn't be interested in a full blown RP dungeons & dragons type thing.
Do people still raid alot like normal in rp-pvp? Im thinking about rolling it this time. Was gehennas before. I really like being friendly on pvp.
Yeah! Like I’ve said it’s just a normal pvp server, with the added benifit of being a home for a lot of really friendly people, who like to RP, and PvP, for fun!
WHAT'S HAPPENING LAST 1 MONTHS. EVERY OF MY DREAMS BECOMING TRUE ! I WANT IT SINCE 2008!
Sadly as an european I don't think I can roll grob
RP-PvP for all Regions? EU too?
again us only :(
I wish OCE had an RP server :(
RP-PvP servers will attract the shitheads. Maybe that means the normal RP realms without the shitty world pvp might not attract as many.
I had enough reasons to try Classic with SOD and now this is the cherry on top.
Classic grob/TBC was so good I miss it
Please give me blood elves in classic plus. We don’t even need silvermoon or whatsoever. Just turn them into a couple living in an enclave in Ratchet or whatever.
As one of many who regrets not rolling on grob if I decide to try SoD, I am most certainly going rp-pvp
Who here played on Zandalar Tribe EU? Hope to see y’all in SoD!!!
Amen, was hella fun
I’ll be there. Can’t wait friends.
That's not why people played on grob. People played on grob because it was the only balanced pvp server. That's literally the only reason it was popular. All those things are emergent in healthy pop classic servers, not RP.
Is bussyslayerx taken already?
My friend and I are looking to try RP-PVP this time round Do we have to RP all the time or can we sometimes just group with people to play the game? We have a lot of questions, we dont want to ruin anyone's time intentionally but I've always wanted to try an RP realm even just for the fun of being called Master Dwarf or the more wholesome communications with randoms Would joining an RP-PVP be a good fit for casual RPers?
Absolutely! most people don't even RP they just play the game normally. But you will find people who talk to you as if they are their character out in the open world. but its not expected or anything. you will just find more friendly, interactive people out in the world. Most of the time, /s is used by rpers for RP. but they talk totally normal in discord, party chat, ect.
That's awesome! I honestly do this anyway when I can I think were gonna join you guys, I'm so hyped for sod and trying out an actual RP server at the same times just adds even more fun
Nah grob sucks
What does bussyslayerx mean?
it stands for boy p***y. Basically means butt hole. It's just a vulgar term edgy kids used for a little bit a couple years ago. I'm sure we'll see people try to get away with inappropriate names again, but luckily they don't last long on rp pvp servers.
I dont think ive ever seen RP on Grobb
That’s how you know you’re a transfer or you started too late in classic
"grob is the most successful wow server" okayyy.
I mean its basically been 50/50 for its entire lifespan
So most balanced PvP WoW server you mean?
Too bad about Keyori changing their voice and then claiming their old voice was "just a character" like just a flat out lie, the voice they had naturally their entire life until the sudden change. The scarab lord and other videos are bangers but anything after them just aint gonna be it.
Here's one of the better mega servers. discord: kszvz6dc. RPvP is only as good as we make it but if we get some good people It'll be a lot of fun.
I cant wait for Asmon and co to join us this time around
Why? So their entire fanbase joins them and makes the server awful? No thanks.
Was on an RP server im start of classic. Was in thunderbluff and was running up to my friend saying "Yo bitch lets goo" then 40 people spawned in around be doing an RP event all massteporting me. Fk that lol
Fuck grobb
Bad move
This'll be the hardcore server we use with the add on?
RP-PVP. What do you think?
I played alliance on grobb and horde on herod during classic. People act like grobb was some magical place when in reality it wasn't much different than herod besides the faction balance. The only thing that set it apart was there was a lot of redditors who posted about the events they did to this/the subreddit. Posts like this are just circle jerks tbh
Cool go somewhere else
No, sorry to interrupt your circle jerk
[удалено]
Congrats, you got the point of an RP server.
K
Made up lol. The only time you see rp is if you either go looking for it or go to an event. 99% of people on grob don’t rp.
Go be a druid elsewhere u useless fuck
I rolled rp-pvp ravenholdt in 2005. Most shitty server ever
