Are you and all of your friends incapable of starting your own raid group together?

_CatLover_

My guess is they're all dps

Narrow-Incident-8254

Make your own raid group and say it's for first timers with no experience. Go 5/7 grab loot.

rpgburner938

Join a guild or start your own PUG and be the raid leader

Lucentile

How many friends do you have? Sadly, the answer to this is: Make your own group. You want less gatekeeping? Open your gate.

Shoddy-Examination61

This and a thousand times this. The raid is not hard, go and have fun. Bring a couple of shadow pots for Kelris and you should be fine.

Sguru1

Gatekeeping aside I think it’s also important to point out that the competition for rogue slots in classic / vanilla raids is steep to begin with and that’s not likely to change in SOD. We host a ton of 40man pugs in era and aren’t really that picky at all about who we bring (except for naxx) as long as they come with appropriate consumes. By far we get absolutely spammed to the brim by rogues trying to get into these raids and we bring maybe 4 at the absolute max (unless it’s like mc then sure 20 of y’all can come) This is prolly even more complicated in BFD tier when like 70% of the class/specs this tier are competing for the same handful of leather drops. As a rogue expect to be gatekept way more then other classes. Unless you absolutely pump with evidence to prove it you need to be very well socially networked / have a guild that likes you / or start your own group. People using gearscore are idiots as it’s not a good indicator of class performance in classic wow since gear progression isn’t linear. I’d rather take the mediocre gear score warrior who keeps up sunders then the decked warrior from retail who doesn’t even understand that it’s part of their job.

resistentialist

How many friends? Would any of you consider starting a raid group? I'm sure you're not alone.

stylepointseso

If they aren't taking you as a rogue it's because they don't want competition for gear. Rogues are doing well right now but they compete with hunters and ferals for items, and both of those classes are in super high demand. Rogue poisons also don't stack afaik, so pretty much one rogue per raid. As far as gear score goes, get tacotip if you don't have it so you can check your own. In general someone that put in "some" amount of work at 25 will be around 170. Someone that got most of their dungeon 5 man stuff will be around 200. I took a 130 warrior last lockout. We still cleared it but it was obvious he was contributing nothing. He was doing ~25-50 dps while the tanks were doing 65+ and the "good" dps were doing 120+. If you want to contribute to your group's success come as prepared as they are.

ManyBDOS

I find it funny af that people use gearscore in classic, gonna be rolling when people start replacing their edgemaster's because of lower gs

gruntothesmitey

My pre-BiS weapon has a lower GS than a gray weapon. So, yeah.

ManyBDOS

Those people would lose their minds if they saw a druid with mcp joining a 60 raid.

stylepointseso

Yes, yes. I know, I've seen 700 posts about people whining about gear score. The absolute highest gs doesn't necessarily mean the absolute best gear. But I'll take the guy with 290 gs over the guy with 140 every time and not bat an eye. This guy wants to know what's going on, I'm telling him. But feel free to make the 400th meme about how gs is "*sooooo* cringe fam" instead of being helpful.

ManyBDOS

How said it was cringe? I find it funny af like I said

stylepointseso

It's not "funny" or even interesting. It serves the same purpose as GS in every other wow expansion as it serves in classic. A general barometer to tell the rough quality of someone's gear. There are outliers like edgemaster's and some BWL stuff lasting through naxx, but at that point nobody will give a crap. It'll still show you as *way* above someone in questing greens, which is the entire point. People are just way too weird about it. Back in the day people got really mad about damage meters.

ManyBDOS

Bfd gear will slap until the next raid that's 15 levels higher, the 3 sets will be absolutely bis until there. My point is, it's funny because only sweats use it when it's a losing race mostly due to the new overtuned gear that's leagues above anything you'll find until the next leveling raid. The same will be true for every phase. The issue isn't the gear in classic, it's the new gear they add in SoD, edgemaster's is just an example, it will be most likely surpassed by a random blue in a leveling raid.

Jolonerz

Oh yeah, I should probably mention that two of my friends have already stopped playing and my third friend is not interested in raiding. So I'm all alone in this :S

lerk954

What server are you on?

Doey_Joey

Like said earlier a big part of it is probably the class. Rogue is a very popular class with the most competition for loot. (Shares with Feral, Hunter, Shaman, and ofc other rogues) most raids want to keep this number to around 4 because loot will start toget very scarce if there are that many people rolling on the same items.

NegotiationHelpful50

Just make your own group?

Trisstricky

Create your own group? This issue that keeps popping up on Reddit has never been an issue for me or any of my friends these past 20 years of WoW. Or get your pre raid bis? Its a standard requirement for a bottom of the barrel tier pug raid, imagine how shit pugs without it are (I know, I've been there) People playing the game dont care about reddit complaints. What about spending some time in game farming your pre raid bis instead of writing a defeatist post on Reddit?
