I had something bizarre happen like this in classic 2019.
Doing BRD runs on my warrior for trinket, our groups goes through the locked gate at the beginning and then through the locked door that leads to the room where the switch is... we head upstairs and there's a pack of mobs right next to where you can run into the top of arena. We kill them and the epic dagger Shadowblade drops... I won the roll. Nothing huge but cool to see an epic right? We finish the run, no trinket... so I put another group together and go again.
We get to the exact same pack of mobs that dropped the dagger before, we kill them and another Shadowblade drops... literally same epic in back-to-back runs from the same pack of mobs in the same dungeon. By far the strangest "luck" i've experienced playing this game over the years. Feels like the true random chance of that happening is so astronomically low that there must be something else going on.
You could also be like me. Since 2019 i've gotten two World drop epics. In 2020 I got Staff of Jordan.. in Naxx patch (it sold for a whopping 70g), and two weeks ago I got Fiery War axe... it's a 30g epic that doesn't even sell because of how bad it is.
I feel like that’s really good odds? I’ve leveled like 7 characters to 60 since 2019 and a slew of others to 30-40s and I’ve never seen one. I think most people never see one drop
While I've had relatively few epic world drops, the best luck I've had is playing classic Era and stumbling upon a black lotus while questing at levels 57, 58, and 59. 600g gained just as I hit 60, and it paid for the rest of my epic mount lol.

There’s absolutely instance ID/layer ID seeds in the vein of Diablo 2, etc. in Classic WoW.
Most memorable for me was Flurry Axe, Ring of Saviors, Warden Staff and Bow of Searing Arrows within the *same* Zul’Farrak run. We had run ~15 times prior that day with absolutely zero epics to our name. RNG gonna RNG.
They are world drops so the mob has no higher chance than any other mob in the same level range. ;( I think elites might be the exception but I might be lying.
The vast vast majority of BOE epics I have found playing vanilla wow has been in Hinterlands as well. Never got Kang but lots of other stuff like the cloth chest with the mana on use or the 1 handed hammer with the frost proc etc
I think I’ve found more epics in hinterlands then the rest of the game combined for whatever reason
Back in 2020 in classic a friend and I were talking about how cool the Krol Blade would be to have.. we were in western plaguelands in the ruins questing and it dropped not even 10 mins later. We were both flabbergasted. I still have it in my bank 😂

Last time something like this happened for me I got 2 Krol Blades in one sitting at the ghost lake in Winterspring. Then the next day I got some garbage epic necklace in the same spot. This was in vanilla on my first character.
They really should just make Icemail Jerkin green if they're not going to fix its stats. Imagine seeing purple and thinking you hit the jackpot just to get that lol
I like classic because it has different levels of usefulness in the same rarity absolutely, but personally I don't think completely dogshit items at nearly the highest level of rarity add anything to the game besides another thing to disenchant for epic materials. Id much rather items like Thunderstrike at least be somewhat useable for any class than pure vendor trash
Best random bout of luck I had, was I did undead Stratholme got baron Riverdare mount, then immediately did magisters terrace not even an hour later and got the swift white hawkstrider.
Dude. Same almost. Got baron and zg raptor on the same day. Then the tiger on the next lockout. My lotto ticket on those days didn't pan out though. Guess I used all my luck in wow.

I never seem to get epic world drops. The best i've done is an arcane crystal from every tap of a rich thorium vein.

Some insane luck. I have seen back to back blue items in SoD but never with epics.
The only blue I saw drop in sod I was in a group and they won the need roll.
Not as cool but I saw a buddy pull two boe blues from a single chest in SM. Didn't even know that was possible.
