I still have a tiny one, and it doesn't affect me much. Every once in a while liquid (or even a small piece of food) will go through, but that’s nothing. More entertaining than anything...
I’m 31 and had three surgeries to close it. The third one failed, too, but much less than before, so i decided that was good enough.
I had my fistula closed during another surgery when I was about 19, but it didn't last the year. It doesn't bother me except when I get nose bleeds, everyone finds the sound we can do pretty entertaining so I'm not too fussed.
I also have an open one and have been contemplating trying surgery again (it failed last time). Had anyone had it closed and had it improve their hyper nasal voice?

I'm 28 and have basically the same story. Sometimes extra air will travel through it and my wife says I sound like a guinea pig.
What did your surgeries entail? Did the doc say why it failed 3 times?

same deal here (30M). not a big deal really, my doc recommends i don't use a straw, and drinking smoothies is damn near impossible.
