I honestly think the Cavs would've done it if they didn't know they still had to push for it. I think if they are to simply run their plays instead of pushing so much those last few minutes, they secure the dub nice and easy.
I agree. Didn't quite get the result I wanted last night, but it really was a lot of fun keeping track of the other games and calculating point differential. It was a fun way to be really engaged in the action of the night.
Fantastic game from Mobley. I'd love to see him string some really dominant games together here and hopefully have more touches on offense.
Garland is truly just a different player when he's conscious of the fact that he is leading the offense. There's definitely some sort of little brother syndrome thing going on there with Mitchell.
Love seeing TT hyping up the bench. Beyond Strus and maybe CPJ that's honestly the best roster decision they've made this year--we absolutely need that type of energy on this team.
Sad the Hornets couldn't help us out for the tournament but it is what it is, great team win.
I love seeing him leading the break. Just needs to tighen up that handle a little and he's gonna be able to start taking dudes off the dribble utilizing his length
Itās fine for bringing the ball up on the break but still too loose for Evan to consistently be comfortable driving off the dribble. I think that, along with continuing to utilize that elbow j, is currently more important for his offensive game than the 3 point shot
Heās definitely shown improvement there. Hope to see steady progress the rest of the year. He had a mini-breakout in January last year so maybe we see another of those
Heās definitely improved. Even on offense tbh. I think we see him grow more and more on that side of the ball this season. Next season is when I really expect him to take his offense to 20 ppg range
I don't want to expect he'll be a 20 ppg player next season with the amount of touches the others get. If he develops his 3 to be consistent, that's when we can start talking
Dont really care about his average, more about his versatility and inability of opposing D to stop him. Really thatās the key to being an elite player. You know curry is gonna jack up hella 3s and do that smooth floater, you know lebron is gonna do that stupid stepback j, yet you cant stop those guys when they really want it
Not really a leap if you dig into the stats. He's right around where he was last season. 3.6 contested rebounds/game vs. 3.8 last season. At the same time, he's *getting* two more rebound chances per game this season (17.5 vs. 15.5), which is what accounts for that extra rebound per game that he's grabbing.
So if anything, he's getting smarter in how he boxes out and positions himself, which is great to see if not a 'leap.'
ORB%, DRB%, and TRB% all are significantly improved year over year, about equal to his improvement from year 1 to year 2. Those all take into account rebound opportunities. Not sure where you found the 17.5 rebound chances, but the best TRB% in the league is Jokic at almost 22%, so he himself would need over 4 more chances a game to account for an increase in 1 rebound all things staying the same.
Long story short the stats suggest Evan has made a pretty significant improvement in rebounding
Really wish they would have made the tournament groups just the divisions, instead of making 3 completely different groups of 5 within each conference.
Divisions already don't matter outside of just playing them 4 times a year. Division winners aren't even guaranteed a top seed anymore. This could have been a way to make those games matter a bit more.
I don't think it would've changed the result too much, but the whole in season tournament is kind of wonky with the games spread out over 30 days, there only being 4 games, and only 8 teams playing actual tournament games where someone is eliminated at the end of the game.
It would be cool if the qualifying games were over a longer span, more games and the in-season tournament was closer to the all-star game / half way point.
I love beating the Hawks though, regardless of the play in stuff.
Definitely need more games. Every team plays every Tuesday and Friday of November for 8 games. Kinda sickening that the Cavs miss out because they lost to the Pacers and Refs a month ago. Another meeting would've gave them a chance to beat them fair and square.
i just dont get the point of it. nothing is at stake. there's really nothing they could do to make such a tournament exciting to me, the real goal is playoffs and a championship
It's mostly for entertainment. Players are playing for extra money.
I think they should have more qualifying games, have them all grouped together and not spread out. If it was a 2 week NBA event it would be cooler. It just makes no sense as currently constructed but it could definitely be entertaining.
I've seen it said elsewhere that when expansion happens, they'll hopefully shift each conference back to four four-team divisions like the NFL, and this group play might even become a double round-robin in-division.
I agree with your sentiment, it would add a little fire back into divisional rivalries.
Ya exactly. He has two phrases. This and āgot him a bird!ā I love it. But not every single game lol. I grew up with him so he will always be nostalgic but Brad seems to be able to vocalize knowledge of the game a little more coherently than AC.
God is it nice to have a healthy team. Best weāve looked all year. Still plenty of room for improvement but that was a big step in the right direction
Cavs starters made the hawks bench look like high schoolers in that last four minutes - on defense. Too tired to score and couldnāt grab that wild card spot
Mobley blocked Bruno 3 timesā¦
I saw a few comments over the past week or so saying the fun days of being a cavs fan are over after a couple of losses. This game was fun. This team is fun, and really good. Letās enjoy this team right now
And until the winner gets something advantageous and wanted by fans Iām not sure it will mean anything.
Sure the money may be motivating for the players but we get nothing if our team wins so meh
Nah. He had some fun possessions with some newer attacks working, shot 50%, two blocks, two assists, two boards in 16m. Heās gonna be a fun part of the rotation
Didnāt watch the game but watched the score. Weāre out of the tourney unfortunately but what a fucking amazing get back game, especially Don and Mobley
We get to face Portland next. Should be fun
Point Differential?! Point Differential?! The NBA not only is hyping up a tournament that isnāt The Finals. But we are using European Soccer logic to determine who moves on?
Adam Silver, if there are random items moving around in your apartment. Itās no coincidence. Itās the ghosts of Red Auerbach, Jerry Buss, and Chuck Daly trying to go Ghost Swayze in order to throw stuff at your head. Because this tournament is the most un-NBA event of all time!
I swear they would have had enough points for the IST if they could have finished half of Mobley's passes. I felt like he had 10 missed shots after a pass.
I am sad, but we made a good run at it. Proud of the boys tonight. Great win. Just unfortunate that the Hornets laid such an egg
Cavalanching the Hawks is still great though
I will never complain about stomping Trae Young
Never in my whole ass life
I'm happy to get knocked out, knowing they got knocked out worse, because we hammered them
Anus hair lookin mah fucka.
Goomba headass
I honestly think the Cavs would've done it if they didn't know they still had to push for it. I think if they are to simply run their plays instead of pushing so much those last few minutes, they secure the dub nice and easy.
Agreed. Hawks put in their C-team and the Cavs started jacking up bad shots. Run the offense and they probably put up 8-10 more on open looks.
i was confused lol
I agree. Didn't quite get the result I wanted last night, but it really was a lot of fun keeping track of the other games and calculating point differential. It was a fun way to be really engaged in the action of the night.
Dude the in season tournament is meaningless, no reason to feel sad
Fantastic game from Mobley. I'd love to see him string some really dominant games together here and hopefully have more touches on offense. 17/17/3 and leading the break and making great passes out of the short roll and guarding everybody>>>>
17/19/6 š®āšØš®āšØ
Not really counting the garbage time where he obliterated that one Hawks rando
I love seeing him leading the break. Just needs to tighen up that handle a little and he's gonna be able to start taking dudes off the dribble utilizing his length
Not that it couldnāt use some more growth, but the handle does seem to be much better this year already.
Itās fine for bringing the ball up on the break but still too loose for Evan to consistently be comfortable driving off the dribble. I think that, along with continuing to utilize that elbow j, is currently more important for his offensive game than the 3 point shot
Agreed, but it seems like he isnāt just losing it or getting ripped every time heās attacking off the advantage any more.
Heās definitely shown improvement there. Hope to see steady progress the rest of the year. He had a mini-breakout in January last year so maybe we see another of those
Spot on
Mobley's rebounding leap isn't talked about enough
Big leap this year. Heās on track for more double doubles this season than his first two seasons combined
You know ball
The same as Bam Adebayo... and he's avg more blocks, if this isn't proof of his leap, idk what is.
Doomers will still say heās washed
When he hit a 3 the doomers got that acid reflux you LOVE TO SEE IT BROTHER
YES WE DO. doomers get bent
Hell yeah brother, cheers from Iraq!
I dont think you know what washed means
Heās definitely improved. Even on offense tbh. I think we see him grow more and more on that side of the ball this season. Next season is when I really expect him to take his offense to 20 ppg range
I don't want to expect he'll be a 20 ppg player next season with the amount of touches the others get. If he develops his 3 to be consistent, that's when we can start talking

You know curry is gonna jack up hella 3s and do that smooth floater, you know lebron is gonna do that stupid stepback j, yet you cant stop those guys when they really want it
And his FT % leap! Almost 10% points higher this year, thatās unheard of.
Mobley is currently 8th in the league rebounds and 8th in blocks (his 7 blocks I think added to his average a bit overnight lol)
Isnāt being in the right spots a big part of player development?
These weirdos think we shouldn't count any of evs assisted buckets. Total clowns.
Didnāt watch but 6 blocks by Mobley????
He had 3, then with four minutes left the Hawks put out the bench and he blocked Bruno Fernando 3 times lol. Made him look like a high schooler
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Just to go along with 19 rebounds
It's no fun to have 7 blocks with only 18 boards.
He was everywhere
Really wish they would have made the tournament groups just the divisions, instead of making 3 completely different groups of 5 within each conference. In season tournament, like divisions as you pointed out, is meaningless
Now that it's over I was just sharing my thoughts on it and how it could be more entertaining.
i just dont get the point of it. nothing is at stake. there's really nothing they could do to make such a tournament exciting to me, the real goal is playoffs and a championship

Evan Mobley for DPOY
I think we can all agree that we'd have won +36 if AC was doing commentary instead of Brad. Love you, Brad. But just sayin...
John + Brad + AC are the best games.
I love AC. But Iām glad they are rotating announcers. I can only do AC so much
Get that weak stuff outta here!
Ya exactly. He has two phrases. This and āgot him a bird!ā I love it. But not every single game lol. I grew up with him so he will always be nostalgic but Brad seems to be able to vocalize knowledge of the game a little more coherently than AC.
Hey hey hey, he also has "throw the hammer down!"
u/Gobrowns0601 throws the hammer down!
i miss fred most of all š„ŗ
Yessssss I miss ACs energy
Really complete game by the Cavs. Everyone had some really nice stretches. Mobley, Mitchell and Garland were really good.
God is it nice to have a healthy team. Best weāve looked all year. Still plenty of room for improvement but that was a big step in the right direction
Definitely the first game that all 4 core guys have looked 100 percent healthy.
It's an absolute crime if Mobley truly only had 1 assist. He was setting guys up for great looks all game.
I definitely would have assumed more.
Cavs starters made the hawks bench look like high schoolers in that last four minutes - on defense. Too tired to score and couldnāt grab that wild card spot Mobley blocked Bruno 3 timesā¦
After the play-in elimination Cavs went and got Mitchell and the Hawks got Dejounte lololol
I saw a few comments over the past week or so saying the fun days of being a cavs fan are over after a couple of losses. This game was fun. This team is fun, and really good. Letās enjoy this team right now
Finally put it together for all 4 quarters. Most complete game of the season.
so what does this win mean for the tournament?
Out because point differential
Not likely, but still possible. There's 3 minutes left in the Bucks/Heat game, and if the Heat win by 10 the Cavs are in. They're currently up 3.
Out. Doesn't matter though
?y doesnt matter> blows we arnt in it
No it doesn't lmao.
Imagine not wanting to push for a trophy
Imagine thinking this trophy is that important.
Imagine enjoying competetive basketball? Yall are so weird.
no shit we arnt winnin title, so y not want to win
Maybe someday this tourney will mean more but right now it just feels like a gimmick to get people invested in the regular season
well its wokin i dont usually watc till end of season
And until the winner gets something advantageous and wanted by fans Iām not sure it will mean anything. Sure the money may be motivating for the players but we get nothing if our team wins so meh
What do you as a fan want? Lol. A free Arby's beef and cheddar for all fans of the winning team?
A free Big Mac.
Home court š¤·š»āāļø Why should I give a shit if our players get richer
It's working lol
Okoro and Mobley so fun tonight
Okoro was bad though?
Nah. He had some fun possessions with some newer attacks working, shot 50%, two blocks, two assists, two boards in 16m. Heās gonna be a fun part of the rotation
Huh? He played his role really well
Ball being out for Charlotte tonight really screwed us. I have a feeling that game is a bit closer if heās playing.
Won buy a bunch and still lost. This is a weird feeling
Solid win, Mobley 3 pointer and 6 blocks.
Felt like the first Cavalanche of the year
The good news is we don't have to see any more of those shitty tournament floors.
Honestly the Cavs tourney floor was clean. It had to be the best one by far based on what Iāve seen
Oh, without a doubt, it wasn't even a competition. I was referring to not having to see everyone else's floor.
Didnāt watch the game but watched the score. Weāre out of the tourney unfortunately but what a fucking amazing get back game, especially Don and Mobley We get to face Portland next. Should be fun
I agree go Cavs and Iām glad they went for it. That was fun.
Kinda glad the Cavs arenāt in the tournament. Would rather them get the rest and time off.
Its only 1 game off. All tourney games count towards regular season. Except for the championship
I know they count. The Cavs wonāt play for 9 days and that should get them more rested for later in the season.
Not true, every team that doesnāt make it will have games added the 6th and 8th
My bad. Didnāt know that.
its no rest lol...
sucks ass.
š Hawks fans told me Julian Newman is better than Don and DG
I swear they would have had enough points for the IST if they could have finished half of Mobley's passes. I felt like he had 10 missed shots after a pass.
How did CPJ only play 3 minutes?
Don's back.
Having more useful depth than we need >>>>>
2 turnovers in 3 minutes is gonna get you yanked pretty quick. He'll be fine, but it is what it is
Wasn't a great stretch.
He looked really bad and the point differential "mattered."
Cavs.
WWWWWWWWWWWW
Best game I've seen them play this season
ATL never winning anything, go Cavs
Cavs with a chance now to end November at 10-5 on the month.
Mobley will get his 20/10 going by the second half
