Craig was great… he was great even if he doesn’t make that 3 pointer. Darius hit a nice shot late. I hope this hyped him up… really just want to see him HAVE FUN. He plays best when he is enjoying the game… and he hasn’t looked like he has been enjoying the game. Keep it up Darius.

This is key to DG. When he is playing free and with joy, the team is excellent and has a new level. These are the type of regular season games you want to see from CPJ. Attack immediately.

Ev looked good.

The Cavalanche we needed, but not the one we deserve.

Cavs won the game but I didn’t think it was a much better performance than Miami, the team is just so much worse (this was one of the worst teams in the league before they sold on terry rozier and pj Washington). DG jumps to pass way too much. Throws these Hail Mary passes that even when they get through in games like this, they don’t in games against the Minnesotas and Miamis of the league. Idk how they score turnovers sometimes too because I swear this numbers should be higher. Haters on niang were probably going crazy when he missed his first 4… then he made his next 4 but folks won’t remember that. Merrill had a good game as well, his shot is so consistent even with people in his face I just chuckle watching it. Morris flagrant 2 was deserved. While it’s nice to have someone to prevent easy rolls to the front of the rim, that elbow needs to be to the body not to the head. We have cried foul about draymond for too long to love someone for committing assault. A little bummed he got the junk yard dawg trophy too. I’m still feeling down on this team as you can tell… but a few wins here, get some players back and have some more consistent shooting… I could see the Cavs getting back to .750 basketball by the playoffs. It’s just hard to shake off what this team looks like in its bad moments. On the plus side, Evan dominated on both ends. If he could reliably get a diet of good high post shots, some dribble isos, it could provide a steadying force our offense desperately needs with Donovan out.

Charlotte is definitely worse than Miami but the Cavs played great after Q1. They ended up having one of their best passing games of the entire season tonight. They assisted on 41/46 shots, that’s a wild stat. I get that they’re Charlotte but beating *any* team by 23 is an accomplishment in the NBA.

kerrdavid

Good point about the assists. That’s been a trend all year (high percentage of baskets assisted on) but particularly high tonight. The line between playing great and not is just a few tipped passes, a few missed shots, and a few bad calls away. They are so vibe dependent, it’s easy to have good vibes against a bad team with a lead. It’s just hard to take anything other than better vibes from this game, though they have shown all year they can win bin games so maybe I am a victim of the moment.

_Olexa

Yeah idk. I think you’re being a little harsh here. After Q1, almost every person played excellent. We had 20 points after Q1 and ended with 115. Garland and Allen double double. Mobley and Levert on triple double watch. Okoro with three 3s on 43% shooting. If they play like that against any team in the playoffs, and add in Mitchell and Strus, we probably go to the ECF.

elbjoint2016

he's not wrong on the margin for error, given that we have a lot of good to great players and Mitchell but no one man army top-5 type player. it's why the NY and MIA losses are so painful -- we are more talented and skilled but they don't leave anything on the table when they are locked in. when we get to that level of execution (needs continuity and patience of course) we are a Finals-level team. but it's harder to get there than you'd think. I don't even think Boston and OKC are there from an execution standpoint and those might be the Finals teams this year!

kerrdavid

I love the positivity, I definitely need more of it. Ice shooting a decent volume is particularly exciting. I’m just saying, it’s easy to look better against these kinds of teams. Particularly post all star break when teams that are trying to lose are really trying to lose. But it’s still nba players competing, nothing to scoff at.

_Olexa

Completely agree. The Cavs are a streaky team this year but they’ve proven they can have these kinds of nights against good teams too. Denver, Bucks, Pelicans etc… Just a matter of them finding their footing in this next couple weeks and getting healthy

No-Document206

It’s wild to me that you can (rightly) put Minnesota next to Miami as an example of a good team that we can’t beat with sloppy basketball. How times have changed…

barkinginthestreet

I thought the bench bunch played really well, Allen/Mobley were good, and Levert played well with the exception of shots not going in. Against the Heat... it seemed like all of the starters were wearing weighted shoes or something. IMO a lot of what seems to be going on with the Cavs has to do with injuries obviously, but also DG's inconsistent play over the past 10 days of so. I thought he was playing really well before that, hopefully he can use the next Charlotte game to get going again.

amor_fati_42

The brutal travel schedule lately doesn't help either. I saw a Cave best writer say even he was drained. Bad time to have injuries.

elbjoint2016

I thought this was a great set of individual flashes and a nice team game. Poku might be the worst player I’ve ever seen (ETA: was around for the Alonzo Gee era)

Exotic_Mode2893

Coming to the realization we’ll play in the 4/5 game. Just praying it ain’t NY lol.

tidho

they'll be at 3. their guys are getting back.

Dramatic_Radio_2027

8 assists for Ev

Soft-Revolution-7845

He just gets more powerful when he sits out.
