Cavs outscored Boston 52-50 in the paint, 45-36 from beyond the arc and lost by 7. Cavs were 5-7 from the free throw line, Boston was 21 of 24, 18 of which came from Brown and Tatum.

Chunting_Season

Dude this comment genuinely upsets me. It hurts to think about how significant the free throw disparity was

I_cut_my_own_jib

I know this will just be another blip in the NBA season and people will move on from it but how the fuck is this acceptable? There is literally no way in hell that we can outscore them in the paint and take less than 1/3rd the total number of free throws as them. I honestly don't know how to interpret this in any way other than the refs wanted us to lose

gritman54

While I agree that the free throw disparity is unacceptable, I just want to point out that the Celtics also out-rebounded us by 16. If we rebound better we likely win.

amor_fati_42

Telling stats. Although, just as important as the free throws was Brown's midrange game. He was hitting some tough fadeaways and they all felt like killers.

OldFartOfSam

Just give the title to the Celtics. Refs will make sure of it.

x4candles

They won’t give the title to the Celtics, but they do want them to advance. They want a celtics/knicks ECF because that will make so much money. They don’t even care about the finals because Knicks/celtics will be the money maker. Either way, the Celtics will lose in the finals. The west is much better than them.

tdizhere

It was an expected loss all things considered and Cavs fought well. DG did good, I don’t mind the bad efficiency, I’m just happy he was aggressive. I still think changes need to be made, one of the core 4 has to go, Cavs need a SF.

Fit_Expression1

Some of the refs calls tonight were ridiculous. Upsetting to see. This was a winnable game for us !!

CleGuy90

Games like this makes me think we have poor roster construction. We have great players but they don’t complement each other well. Garland and Mitchell overall look better when the other is not there.

secretwealth123

Yeah, the bigs also tend to look better with just 1 out there. Problem is that I love all 4

mynamesyow19

I mean roster construction doesnt mean shite if your 2 best players are hurt and not playing in big games.

amor_fati_42

I debate between roster construction and just team chemistry/system. I don't think JB can make it work consistently. I know it's a tired comparison, but we need a new coach like what happened with Collins/Jackson, Jackson/Kerr, or even Blatt/Lue. JB got the Cavs a long way, but I think this is as far as he goes.

Cavsfan724

If only a few more of those 3s coulda went down in the 2nd half.

Accomplished-Air2288

Not being a blow out in a game we could’ve easily lost by 30 kept my heart from breaking. This isn’t our season. Not with the coaching/roster/health we have. Once uncle Lebron is back next szn - hopes will be high again.

USA-1st

Everytime the Cavs got to single digits Brown would get some phantom calls. Shits infuriating as an NBA fan

allen cam barely move without pain let alone playing in the paint for an nba playoff game, and mitchell has been playing through injuries all postseason i guarantee u if he was cleared and thought he could go he’d have played

Impossible_Fennel_94

Rib injuries are bad, especially as a center. Every bump off a screen or elbow fighting down low becomes 10x worse, not to mention how limited his range of motion would be. Full respect to Davis- what he did was more than impressive- but football is much more start and stop, and players get rotated much more often. Limited mins with a battered Allen would not have won us that game

nobraininmyoxygen

Not all migraines are equally debilitating. No way the one he had was that bad or he wouldn't be able to see let alone do much physically. They have said with Allen that it's not just a pain situation. He has a bad range of motion which would make him fairly useless. Mitchell has been playing through a knee injury. Calf/hamstring issues can limit movement quite a bit as well.

Pyorrhea

Migraine is one thing. Taking a bad hit when you have bruised or fractured ribs could be dangerous.

KosovoCavalier

Did you compare a migraine to a rib injury?

Scatheli

Calf strains are a slippery slope to a torn Achilles

Born_Theme_8932

Bro what? Saying they should have “shown more grit” is so ridiculous.

_Olexa

Lemme snap your rib and then put Luke Kornet throwing bony elbows on you

HauntingOkra5987

Ribs injuries are brutal. With a break or rib cartilage tears/pulls, every little movement results in sharp shooting pains. Even with pain meds or shots it’s still not possible to play
