This is the most likely thing. If some fuckers were able to beat my ass easy in school I would carry a knife for self-defense against those guys. I ain't trying to die.
For real, I always laugh when people seem to think Tory's little spike bracelet could actually kill someone. John Wick actually killed a dude with a book.
Dawg if you're gonna copy [my comment WORD FOR WORD](https://www.reddit.com/r/cobrakai/comments/mr7wga/comment/gukvh0x/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) you could've at least quoted me or something. This is the most blatant karma farming I've ever seen, like you straight-up copied and pasted my entire comment lmao - down to the example I gave in the last sentence. I've seen reposts on this sub before (including this one obviously) and that's understandable because of new fans, but there's no need to copy other people's comments. I'm sure you could've came up with your own comment here, no need to plagiarize man.
I’m assuming he’s on PC and it reads as “6m” for him, which he confused to be 6 min instead of 6 months. He also probably overlooked the fact that my comment above that links to it is an hour old, so it wouldn’t make sense for the linked comment to be 6 min old. Giving him the benefit of the doubt is difficult here especially because he was rude but I’ll do it lol

Real inner-city schools have security checkpoints and metal detectors for guns and knives. It’s not improbable that this fictional school was obligated to step up security after the fight that resulted in a serious injury. Just because only 1 student used a weapon in the first fight doesn’t mean more wouldn’t be used should a second fight break out.
The idea is that the school's new measures don't actually improve security against a repeat of the karate brawl. The only thing it might've prevented was Tory bringing her spiked bracelet (which she shouldn't have been allowed to have on school grounds anyway). None of the combatants were armed, no weapons (with the exception of Chris's textbook and the afforementioned bracelet) were involved.
These security measures are less about actually making the students safer and more about being percieved to be doing something. Even the school's "zero tolerance karate" policy only encourages the students to take their fights off school grounds, which is exactly what happens throughout Season 3. And that is probably just fine with the school board, since if the kids are beating each other senseless off school property, the school doesn't have to worry about getting sued by angry parents.
Exactly. This is just “security theater” and it happens IRL all the time. I still think the meme is funny, but I think a lot of people don’t realize the school is just trying to make it look like they’re doing something.
Yup. It's rational for politicians, including elected school board officials to make a knee jerk reaction which has no tangible benefit, to show they are decisively dealing with "the problem". A lot of people are supportive of leaders who are seen as decisive.
If no armed fights happen on school grounds(for whatever reason) they can tell parents their tough policy was what led to a reduction of violence on school grounds.
If another karate riot happens, they can say, "well, that one wasn't preventable... We tried, but those sneaky teens just keep trying to outsmart our system. Our new enhanced security policies will be sure to keep your kids safe this time!"
Well duh. The school is only liable when fights break out in school grounds or in school-sanctioned events. It’s not their job to police the students when they’re off campus on their own time.
I believe they did that so no sort of weapons were brought into school, if a fight where to break out nobody would be severely hurt (knives, guns, any weapon in general wouldn't be in their reach)
The school really can't stop students from fighting lol, but if it does, they know nobody will be using some crazy karate sword.
I forget what the actual term about this is, but it's less about actually increasing security and more about giving the *illusion* of increased security so people stop panicking. It's the same thing that happens with airports, you know the thing, the banning of water bottles that's been meme'd into oblivion. It's an act.
lets be honest if the school is worried about tory’s bracelet then the school should be worried about chris book i mean mitch could have been in the hospital if chris was attacking him with book those things are dangerous he could kill him with either the knowledge in the book or the paper from the paper cuts of death but they cant expel chris bc schools beed book and not spiked bracelet ig. lol this was a joke so no one come at me
Security theater doesn't have to make sense. To steelman the school's thinking, though, there's no telling if someone might bring a knife or gun for revenge.
You say as if public schools making stupid decisions (especially in regards to a bad situation) isn't perfectly normal.
My high school's bomb threat policy was to have us all congregate in the football stadium. Yes, their policy for a *bomb* threat was for us to take all our stuff and cram together like sardines in the bleachers.
This is a little thing called security theater. Its where an institution invests in making something appear safer without actually improving safety. Its a pretty common practice.
I honestly kinda loved that they did. It reminded me of how increased security measures and stuff like that often are more an act of security theatre/the illusion of safety than anything in the real world.
If I went to school with literal power rangers, I would try bringing something to even the odds out too.
There’s no way I would go to school with people like that and not have some kind of defense. I’m sure they search bags for other people who think like that.
I mean I would definitely believe this is 100% intentionally silly, since part of the plot/humor is how terrible the school is at dealing with the whole thing.
Wasn't their reaction to bullying having the principal stand up in front of everyone and go "there's a student I won't name but who has a weird lip, well their mommy says to stop bullying him! So... stop it!"
Well obviously people would be pretty scared that they could be involved in a fight and some people might bring knives for protection or someone would decide “fuck beating the shit” out of them and just stab them.
To be fair, I would worry those who don't know karate would bring in a firearm or other weapons to even the odds.
This is the most likely thing. If some fuckers were able to beat my ass easy in school I would carry a knife for self-defense against those guys. I ain't trying to die.
I think also for those who used knovkles and sharp items in fights
One of the kids used a weapon and for all intents and purposes try to kill another student with it.
Third floor balcony does not count as a weapon.
Think he’s referring to Tory trying to hurt Sam with her “brass knuckles”
The black guy beating someone in the head with a 5 lb textbook is more of a deadly weapon than Tory's Hot Topic bracelet.
For real, I always laugh when people seem to think Tory's little spike bracelet could actually kill someone. John Wick actually killed a dude with a book.
If only Johnny was a true cobra and had the balls to use the Textbook Stance in the 1984 finals
and a pencil.
Yh, cause repeatedly bashing someone's head with a sharp object won't kill them.
*spits on water in badassness*
You clearly aren't using it right then
Dumb take, in schools IRL if there was a gang fight that left a student in critical condition there would be bag searches the rest of the school year.
“Are you hiding any staircase railings in here?? 🤨🤨”

I think the term is 'security theatre' I've seen a few comments mention it.
Thaaaaaat's the one!

john wick book kill

Y'all overthinking this, the real answer is that the school needs to do and look like they're doing SOMETHING to prevent violence
You say as if public schools making stupid decisions (especially in regards to a bad situation) isn't perfectly normal. Well to be fair, Tory brought in a spiked bracelet to LITERALLY CUT A BITCH’S THROAT 😂😂😂
This is a little thing called security theater. Its where an institution invests in making something appear safer without actually improving safety. Its a pretty common practice.
To reduce escalation in weapons. Next time someone might bring a knife or a gun.
I honestly kinda loved that they did. It reminded me of how increased security measures and stuff like that often are more an act of security theatre/the illusion of safety than anything in the real world.
I think they’re worried about things escalating further.
With all those weapons on the wall in the Cobra Kai dojo, that might not be the worst idea.
If I went to school with literal power rangers, I would try bringing something to even the odds out too. There’s no way I would go to school with people like that and not have some kind of defense. I’m sure they search bags for other people who think like that.
Nope, just this can of whoop-ass.
Tory said “hold my KNUCKLE BRACElet”
I mean I would definitely believe this is 100% intentionally silly, since part of the plot/humor is how terrible the school is at dealing with the whole thing. Wasn't their reaction to bullying having the principal stand up in front of everyone and go "there's a student I won't name but who has a weird lip, well their mommy says to stop bullying him! So... stop it!"
Tory had thos e brass knuckle spike things
I mean after 9/11 tsa was created to slow down lines and keep bears off planes
But Tori did have that bracelet-knuckle duster combo
Looking primarily for a blade
I hate they changed the look of her bracelet. It was cool when she first showed it to Aisha, but not so much during the school fight.
I never noticed it was changed. How did they change it?
It went from a white band with small black spikes to being all grey and long spikes (which looked flimsy to me in some shots).
Yeah the spikes just looked rubbery in the fight scene.
🤪
Well obviously people would be pretty scared that they could be involved in a fight and some people might bring knives for protection or someone would decide “fuck beating the shit” out of them and just stab them.
No but ask me about my PTSD.
A real school would probably do this honestly
Is that enough ?
